Role Purpose

The Operations Director is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective running of all operational aspects of Katherine Low Settlement. This role oversees the day-to-day operational leadership of the charity, ensuring that its systems, processes, and teams are aligned with strategic objectives and compliant with relevant legislation.

This position will lead on programme delivery, financial management, human resources, IT infrastructure, risk and compliance, governance, and facilities management, ensuring that the organisation operates smoothly and sustainably. The post-holder will act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), embedding a strong safeguarding culture across the organisation, and also be responsible for policy development and culture and wellbeing. 

As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Operations Director will work closely with the CEO, Board of Trustees, funders, partners, and staff to drive organisational effectiveness and ensure that the charity can continue delivering high-impact work.

 

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Organisational Strategy

• Provide strategic leadership for all operational functions, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s mission and strategic objectives.
• Develop and implement efficient systems, processes, and policies to improve operational effectiveness.
• Work closely with the CEO and Board of Trustees to ensure that the charity is resilient, agile, and positioned for sustainable growth.
• Oversee cross-departmental collaboration, ensuring that operations support and enhance programme delivery.
• Lead on operational planning, resource allocation, and impact measurement.

Programme Delivery & Impact

• Ensure all programmes and services are effectively designed, resourced, and evaluated to achieve the best outcomes.
• Lead on the development of monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks to track programme impact and efficiency.
• Work with programme teams to ensure services are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to the needs of beneficiaries.
• Identify and mitigate operational risks that could affect programme delivery.

Financial & Resource Management

• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and management in partnership with the Finance Team and CEO.
• Ensure financial policies, processes, and controls are in place and adhered to.
• Work with the fundraising team to ensure grant and contract funding is effectively managed and reported.
• Ensure long-term financial sustainability through effective resource allocation and cost efficiency.
• Support the development of business models, funding strategies, and income diversification.

Safeguarding & Risk Management - Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

• As the Designated Safeguarding Lead (a role delegated by the Chief Executive), ensure robust safeguarding policies, procedures, and practices are in place.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on safeguarding responsibilities and best practices.
• Oversee the Deputy Safeguarding Leads, acting as the main point of contact for safeguarding concerns from them, ensuring they are appropriately reported and addressed.
• Embed a strong safeguarding culture, ensuring that all programmes and services prioritise the safety and wellbeing of beneficiaries.

Human Resources, People Management & Wellbeing

• Lead the HR function, ensuring best practices in recruitment, retention, staff development, and performance management.
• Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), embedding a culture of fairness and opportunity for all.
• Develop and implement HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment law and best practice.
• Promote staff wellbeing, fostering a positive and supportive working environment.
• Line manage operational staff, providing leadership, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.

IT Infrastructure, Systems & Data Management

• Oversee the organisation’s IT strategy, ensuring systems and processes are secure, efficient, and fit for purpose.
• Lead on the implementation and management of Salesforce (or another complex CRM system), ensuring data integrity and effective reporting.
• Ensure cybersecurity, data protection, and GDPR compliance, embedding best practices across the organisation.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, including charity governance, employment law, and safeguarding.
• Work closely with the Board of Trustees, providing reports and operational insights to support decision-making.
• Develop and maintain an effective risk management framework, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated.
• Oversee all policy development, ensuring policies are up to date, legally compliant, and well-embedded across the organisation.

Facilities & Office Management

• Oversee the management of charity premises, assets, and office operations.
• Ensure facilities are safe, secure, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
• Lead on business continuity planning and disaster recovery strategies.

 

Person Specification

Essential Experience & Skills

• Proven experience in a senior operational leadership role, ideally within the charity or non-profit sector.
• Strong understanding of programme management, financial oversight, HR, IT, and governance.
• Demonstrable experience of managing budgets using complex Excel spreadsheets.

This role is a 12-month fixed term contract, working alongside the Head of Marketing and Marketing Officer on a part-time basis. The post holder will work 14 hours per week or two full days. The Role 

The Clubhouse Social Café Manager will lead on the implementation of the of café (Due to open in October 2024) and will manage the Food and Beverage Operations in line with food, and health and safety regulations. You will be involved in the initial set-up of the facility. 

You  will be responsible for managing the day to day running of the café, providing a diverse of community and health wellbeing projects in collaboration with Trust Senior Manager - Health and Wellbeing. They will also manage and mentor staff and trainees to deliver an effective and inclusive service to customers.

About You 

We are looking for a passionate, inspiring catering/hospitality specialist to lead on training, mentoring and the hospitality operation of our new Clubhouse Café at Gunnersbury Park. The café is part of the new Community Sports hub at the site and will also double as a social and community space linking into community projects for all ages. Projects will include mental and physical health with the space acting as a central meeting/training hub. In this capacity you will work closely with the Trust's Health and Wellbeing Senior Manager. 

We are partnering with the homeless charity Change Please to create a West London training hub. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and training the café team. Our founder partners in the project are The University of West London (UWL) and the Premier League and Professional Footballers Association Fund. We are linking with the University to offer a range of immersive opportunities for their catering and business students and our Café Manager will link with them on a number of working projects.

The other aspect is the promotion and training in the importance of food, health and performance and the Manager will work with our Trust team to create innovative content and inspiring outreach programmes. Whilst we expect the Manager to have an active interest in food and nutrition, we plan to put some catering support and training in place to support the position.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has appropriate experience to lead the food and beverage side of the operation. They will be involved in the initial set-up of the facility (Due to open in Summer 2025) and the establishment of appropriate operation and health and safety procedures.

We have developed a sustainable business plan, however you will have the opportunity of contributing to the ongoing development plan. We have the benefit of understanding who our customers are, when they are, and even when they will arrive! This will need to be balanced with the social and community programme, and whilst it will be a challenge, it will also make for an enriched role in dealing with a range of people and organisations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on the implementation of the café, including the setup, adherence to food and health safety and regulations, and staffing.
• Development and procurement of suppliers for café to ensure efficient service delivery.

Role & Responsibilities
 
As our Visitor Operations Manager, you’ll be responsible for the overall visitor experience and operational management of Walthamstow Wetlands, as a nature reserve and visitor attraction. Leading on buildings and facilities management, ensuring H&S compliance, overseeing external contractors, and supporting with a range of site activities to ensure an excellent visitor experience for all.
 
You’ll work closely with the multi-disciplinary teams based on site at Walthamstow; Café, Events, Retail, Learning & Engagement and Nature Recovery. As well as liaising with the Trust’s central teams, including; Marketing & Communications, Finance, People & Organisational Development. You’ll also act as the Trust’s representative for the external partnership with landowner; Thames Water and contract manager; Waltham Forest Council.

• Coordinate staffing rotas to ensure 7-day operational coverage at Walthamstow Wetlands, including sessional and site-based staff.
• Lead the delivery of the management contract with Waltham Forest Council, including regular reporting on KPIs and progress.
• Manage the site budget, monitoring income and expenditure in line with agreed forecasts.

Salary: £24, 570 pro rata per annum (for a 37.5 hour working week), plus 5% employer pension contribution (actual salary for 22.5  hours a week: £14,742 per annum). Salary based on Real Living Wage 2025/26.

Alton Castle and the Soli Centre are busy and vibrant Catholic Residential Youth Retreat Centre’s for The Kenelm Youth Trust, serving young people aged 9-24.

The Centre Manager Role will report directly to the CEO, be linked to the Retreat Director’s work and have an annual salary of circa £36,000- £38,500 per annum dependent on qualifications and experience, 24 days annual leave plus 8 days bank holiday, occasional discretionary days and a desirable pension scheme.

The role is contracted to 37.5 hours per week. Due to the nature of the business the role will involve evening and weekend work. The successful candidate will also be required to work some overnight and weekend “on call” work with other Senior Management.

The Centre Manager responsibilities include:

• Key role to support the Retreat Programme Director by ensuring the bookings information, catering and general preparation of the Centre are all fit for purpose for programme delivery and other guests
• Supervision of line managers; to develop and implement HSE policies, plans and practices, in line with the Trusts procedures and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Management of the Operations staff which includes the Administration Office and staff, oversee submission of details for payroll to the payroll provider, record time and attendance of all staff, oversee site management and regulations for a listed historic building, HR and recruitment of staff.
• The individual will be required to come on site at any time during the day or night, seven days a week when they are on call. The ability to be flexible with working hours / pattern is essential.

Essential knowledge, skills and experience

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

• Having a strong understanding of the legislation and compliance needs around HSE issues and ideally hold a relevant HSE qualification e.g. NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
• Be a strong communicator with excellent verbal, written and influencing skills at all levels in the organisation and our customers.
• Managing incident and crisis management, leading accident / incident investigation, implementing and overseeing an HSE auditing programme which will ensure we operate to exceptional HSE standards.
• Be a member of IOSH.
• Be able to manage relationships with customers/users and staff.
• Have the ability to evaluate, monitor and present ideas and data.

The role: Royal Navy Sports and Community Infrastructure Project Officer - full time/35 hours per week 

As a key member of the Greenwich Hospital and Andrew Simpson Foundation teams, you will be responsible for developing the RN “Building Sports and Well-being for the Future” vision into a costed, designed and persuasive community hubs plan, followed by its implementation as an effectively managed transformational project delivering high-quality sports and community hubs.

Based within the Andrew Simpson Foundation, the role will drive strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and scalable delivery aligned with RN priorities. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for a disciplined and visionary self-starter to turn a vision into reality.
