We're looking for a new Facilities Manager for our Leighton Moss reserve. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team at Leighton Moss in North Lancashire. As part of the team, you will work for one of the world’s leading conservation charities, dedicated to saving nature.
As the Facilities Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the infrastructure and support services are well maintained, operate within budget, in line with good practice and within legal frameworks. You will provide comprehensive business/operational support facilitating delivery of work programmes and an effective working environment. You will ensure RSPB is accredited by Green Dragon and compliance is maintained. You will manage the administration of the site as well as managing staff and volunteers and ensuring a high level of customer service.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- You will have the self-motivation and organisational skills to effectively prioritise and deliver a large and varied workload - maintaining our buildings, supporting the visitor business and land management operations and providing admin support to managers.
- Knowledge, understanding and evidence of the key elements of ensuring well-maintained facilities and associated services.
- Ability to ensure H&S compliance is met, knowledge and experience of writing and implementing Risk Assessments and Emergency Procedures.
- Good verbal and written communications skills and ability to engage with a wide range of audiences.
- Ability to plan/project manage, prioritise and problem solve.
- Ability to manage your own team of staff and volunteers to ensure daily cost-effective, efficient running of the facility.
- You will be an effective forward-planner with the ability to anticipate and respond quickly to change.
- You will be proficient at using a variety of IT programmes/software including Microsoft 365 especially SharePoint and show an ability to learn unknown/bespoke software packages that are utilised within the RSPB. You will be able to impart this knowledge on others.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:
- To be confident in building management and deal with trades people.
- Financial management skills to be able to manage a facilities budget (overseen by the site manager) and ensure value-based budgeting. You will work to a high degree of accuracy, flexibility, confidentiality and discretion.
- Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems, including legal compliance, quality management and sustainability of a site.
- Ability to effectively use RSPB systems including eBIS and Assemble. Also, knowledge of IT and network systems is useful.
- Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
- A facilities management qualification or equivalent.
- Natural history knowledge and knowledge of conservation issues and priorities

The Helen Bamber Foundation, founded in 2005 by the pioneering human rights advocate Helen Bamber, was created to reflect the evolving global patterns of violence and persecution. Helen Bamber, who entered Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp in 1945 as part of one of the first rehabilitation teams, recognised that all survivors of extreme violence—regardless of the perpetrator—require safety, legal protection, and medical and emotional support. LSESU is looking for a proactive and driven Facility Coordinator to oversee the daily supervision and operation of our sports facilities. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the spaces, from health and safety compliance to customer service excellence. You’ll also manage internal and external bookings, including LSE Sports Clubs, and coordinate weekly sports events such as BUCS, Club and Society events and private hires from external companies.

Thames Chase Community Forest was established in 1990 and covers an area of 98 square miles on the edge of east London and south-west Essex. Thames Chase Trust welcomes around 65,000 visitors per year to the Forest Centre complex. The architecturally acclaimed Visitor Centre is the information hub for the entire Community Forest and includes a cafe, shop, and public toilets. The complex also includes a 17th century barn, original stable block, refurbished Education Room, and farm cottages.
Our dedicated and friendly Forest Centre team seeks to provide the best possible visitor experience and to continue to develop and grow the complex. You will manage volunteers and five members of staff focussed on the Forest Centre complex. The staff team includes four Forest Centre Assistants and one Forest Centre Caretaker. You will be further supported by our Communications and Media Officer, Finance Officer, and Administration Officer. You will also work closely with the Progammes Team whose focus is project delivery across the Community Forest.

Role Summary:
The Operations Manager is responsible for the smooth, efficient, and compliant day-to-day operation of the business centre. This includes oversight of facilities management, health & safety, lettings, team leadership, and budget management. The role ensures the business centre is well-maintained, tenants are satisfied, and operational performance is continuously improved. Reporting to senior leadership, the Operations Manager contributes to strategic planning, drives efficiencies through systems and digital tools, and plays a vital role in sustaining high occupancy and tenant retention.
Role Responsibilities:
Centre Operations Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the business centre, ensuring all facilities are well-maintained, compliant, and running smoothly.
- Ensure the lettings process is well-managed and aligned with policies.
- Implement and monitor operational procedures to improve efficiency and service quality, including opportunities to digitise processes and services.
- Contribute to strategic operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

Building Maintenance
- Oversee the upkeep and preventative maintenance of the property, ensuring high facility standards.

- Draft lease documentation and ensure timely renewals and support the rollout of any rent reviews.
- Carry out twice-yearly audits of lease documentation.
- Maintain relationships with tenants to support retention and satisfaction.
- Monitor lease management by team, lease compliance and resolution of any lease-related issues.
Customer Service
- Act as a point of contact for tenants, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
- Foster strong relationships with tenants, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement strategies to attract new tenants and retain existing tenants with the goal of maintaining high occupancy levels.
Financial Management

Line Management

The Operations Officer role is an integral part of the central team with responsibility for procedures, systems that support the effective, efficient, and compliant running of our seven-acre site, services, park events and oversight of income streams. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
General operations, processes and systems
- You will be responsible for the oversight and continuous improvement of organisational procedures including IT, GDPR, Health and Safety, Fire Evacuation, incident management.
- You will be responsible for briefing staff across the charity in the use of these procedures and working with the Office and HR Manager to arrange training for staff where necessary.
- You will be responsible for improving existing office systems and identifying opportunities to develop new systems and processes to enable people to work more collaboratively, efficiently, and effectively.
- You will be responsible for ensuring that organisational procedures are documented and accessible on the internal SharePoint.
- You will be responsible for developing and overseeing a new volunteer infrastructure for the charity, working with teams across the organisation to deliver a consistently high-quality volunteer experience for all with standard recruitment, induction, and on-going oversight procedures.
Events and project management
- You will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing a diverse and inclusive programme of park events, making the park an interesting and vibrant place to visit, encouraging the community to gather and socialise, and generating income to support the work of the charity.
- You will have responsibility for working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure each event is well-planned, managed safely and compliantly with all regulations and laws, and executed successfully within budget.
- You will work with the CEO, COO and Buildings and Facilities Manager to support capital projects, liaising with external stakeholders, contractors and the Local Authority to ensure the effective operation of the site. Commercial Operations
- You will operationally oversee our facility-hire income (halls, sports facilities, and grounds) and be responsible for: – ensuring necessary contracts, waivers, and legal/statutory documents are completed – executing effective marketing and promotions, and creating high quality promotional content for our website and social media – regularly reviewing fees in relation to the hire of our facilities and making recommendations for changes to these – understanding and improving the utilisation of facilities – supporting the COO to develop and grow partnerships with local organisations and schools – improving the efficiency of our booking systems/processes and overall user experience
- You will be responsible for identifying new (temporary and permanent) opportunities and third party partnerships to bring new experiences, enjoyment and enrichment to local young people while also generating income for the charity.
- You will work closely with our Café Manager to grow the profile and income generated by our cafe through improved park signage and park visitor experience initiatives, and integration of the café into the hall and sports hire customer journeys.
