Terms and Conditions

• Location: This role can be based at the MAF UK Offices in Folkstone, Kent or optionally could be in the Oxford, Cambridge arc as we seek to launch a new hub in the Milton Keynes area, maximising our engagement with a thriving local aerospace and charity sector region.  Up to two days a week in our Folkstone Office might be initially required.We welcome hybrid working in line with our flexible working policy, the needs of the business, the requirements of the role and your location. • Working Hours: This is a full time role (at least 36 hours per week, with 1 hour for lunch daily unpaid) but requiring some flexibility on the successful candidate to work additional hours occasionally some of which could be outside the normal business hours.   Hours should be agreed with line manager.

We are looking for a senior campaigns, media and PR specialist to lead our recently expanded communications team to deliver a compelling and influential comms and campaigns strategy.

You will be responsible for the strategic development and operational delivery of all our campaigns and external communications, finding creative ways to build our brand, increase understanding of pregnancy loss and grow our income. You will manage relationships with the media and lead on securing coverage across online and offline channels, through, for example, press releases, human interest stories, case studies and position statements.

As Community Fundraising Co-ordinator for the Huntington’s Disease Association, you will help deliver our strategic plans and objectives by generating and growing income through community fundraising activities. You will support our existing supporters and community fundraising portfolio as well as proactively expanding our reach with community-based groups, organisations, and volunteers, to ensure maximum financial return for the charity. Through the development of community fundraising products, you will engage with our supporters in new and exciting ways.

You will develop and deliver excellent stewardship for supporters and fundraising groups to secure and maximise income; you will advise supporters on fundraising legal requirements, fundraising policies and regulations, ensuring that all community fundraising activities meet the high standards of the Huntington’s Disease Association. In addition, you will also manage your own financial income and expenditure targets and budgets. 

You will be able to demonstrate experience of fundraising at a charity as well as experience of budget management. You will represent and promote the work, vision and purpose of the Huntington's Disease Association.

Purpose of the Public Affairs Officer role: 

As the Public Affairs Officer in the External Affairs team at Women’s Aid, you will play a pivotal role in our government and parliamentary engagement work. Key duties and responsibilities of the Public Affairs Officer:

• Carry out regular political monitoring, keeping the team updated with important developments for Women’s Aid, identifying opportunities for influence and providing analysis on policy announcements.
• Draft newsletters, correspondence, and website and social media content for parliamentarians, Women’s Aid’s member services and campaigners on a range of campaign and policy priorities.
• Support Women’s Aid’s work on key pieces of legislation - responding to queries, drafting briefings and parliamentary questions, working with Parliamentarians on draft amendments, and the development of joint sector work.
• Lead on projects that widen participation in Women’s Aid public affairs and campaigning work, including organising meetings with sector colleagues, survivors, and our member services.

What we are looking for in our Public Affairs Officer:

• Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to write copy for a range of audiences and formats, e.g., briefings, consultation submissions, correspondence and speaking notes.
• Experience of working in a political role or exposure within parliamentary institutions.

As Uplift’s Senior Political Adviser, you will be a skilled advocate, strategist and communicator able to secure political commitments relating to Uplift’s mission of a rapid and fair transition away from oil and gas production in the UK. Your role will sit within Uplift’s Politics Team and you will seek to build support for ambitious climate and just transition policies within UK parliament, and UK government. Visitor Centre

• Meet and greet visitors in a pleasant and welcoming manner • Provide informative guided tours of the working farm utilising volunteers where possible

• Work with the Cook to ensure the café is set up appropriately and in time to open and provide assistance with end of day procedures to include cashing up and cleaning down

• Assist the Senior Centre Promotions Officer and Centre Manager with the planning and organisation of a range of events in order to raise World Horse Welfare’s profile and generate income

We are seeking a treasurer to join us as a Trustee who is passionate about our vision, mission and values, to support the Animal Free Research UK Board and team in achieving our charitable aims.

We are looking for an experienced treasurer to support the Board, CEO and Finance Director in the successful delivery of the charity’s financial responsibilities. This includes provision of advice, guidance, challenge and reassurance on all aspects of the charity’s financial activities, ensuring that our strategic plans are underpinned by robust and fit for purpose financial management. You should have a strong interest in the mission of Animal Free Research UK and be willing to advocate on the charity’s behalf.

Previous experience of being a Trustee is not necessary as a full induction and ongoing support will be provided.

Board meetings and time commitment

The The Board ordinarily meets four times per year in March, May, August and November. Two of these meetings are held remotely via video call on a Saturday, and two are held in person in London across weekends. In addition, Trustees are encouraged to join a Committee relevant to their area of expertise which meets at least once per quarter via video call. An appropriate time commitment will be required over the course of the year for preparative work between meetings. Trustees are also invited to attend occasional charity events and join recruitment panels on an ad hoc basis.

Following a probationary period where Trustee-elects attend at least 2 board meetings, appointed Trustees serve a three-year term, with the option to renew for a further three years. Trusteeship is an unremunerated position, though reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be paid.

A Tenant Management Organisation (TMO) is an organisation set up under the UK Government’s Housing (Right to Manage) Regulations 1994, which allow residents of council housing or housing association homes in the UK to take over responsibility for the running of their homes.

A fantastic opportunity to use your skills to make a lasting difference in the lives of older people in the London Borough of Sutton.

In this role, you will be joining a growing team at Age UK Sutton, an independent local charity working to make the London Borough of Sutton a more Age Friendly place. 

Working closely with your colleagues, you will be responsible for providing advice to older people across our community, helping people to navigate significant life events through the provision of information and advice, and longer-term support casework, on a wide range of subjects that affect people in later life.

You will need to: 

• Be highly organised
• Be an independent worker
• Have excellent communication skills when working with people with a wide range of needs
• Have attention to detail

You will also need a good level of knowledge of the legislation that applies, and key systems, such as welfare benefits, social care and health. We are looking for a strong team player, who can work closely with colleagues to plan and deliver community activity and share expertise, whilst managing their own caseload.

A demonstrable understanding of the key issues that affect older people is vital, knowledge of the London Borough of Sutton and local systems and population is desirable.

We are a collaborative, friendly team, making a vital difference to older people in Sutton through our services, influencing work and focus on identifying and addressing need in our area.

We are proud to have been named as lead partner for older people in the local area plan, and work closely with local statutory, corporate, and community partners to share knowledge and improve outcomes.

Lambourne End Centre are looking to recruit a Fundraising and Marketing Coordinator.  The post holder will be responsible for raising revenue and capital funds primarily from trusts, companies and through organising fundraising events to support the work of the Centre. They will also be required to promote the Centre to potential funders, user groups and the public, especially via the Centre’s website and social media channels.  Candidates will need to demonstrate that they can think creatively, use initiative and work productively with colleagues.  They need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to enthuse others.

This exciting opportunity will ideally suit someone at the early stages of their career in charity fundraising.

The post will be based on a 35 hour week, but will involve flexible working including occasional evenings and weekends.

Due to the nature of the work the post will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

About the role

As a charitable organisation, our members are essential to sustaining the future of the Library and achieving our new five-year strategy.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and self-motivated membership marketer with excellent communication and copywriting skills to help improve member engagement and retention and grow membership at the Library.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, you will join a small and busy team in the Membership department. You will implement compelling member-facing marketing communications, activities and campaigns across digital and print platforms that engage member audiences and drive retention rates and growth in line with the retention plan and the Library’s strategic goals.

Supporting the Head of Marketing and Communications, you will work with an external producer and colleagues across the organisation to deliver The London Library Magazine three times a year. You will also design, deliver and analyse e-communications using our CRM and email software and identify opportunities to improve communication content and performance, organise member events, meet our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion aims, and act as first port of call for the media and communications function.

About you

Passionate about creating engaging copy for different audiences and channels, you will have a good level of experience with e-communications, e-software, data reporting and CRMs. You will have a background in membership marketing, ideally within an arts/cultural or charity organisation, and experience in implementing marketing retention campaigns to meet set targets. You will also have experience assisting with the delivery of events and be available to work at Library events as needed.

You will have strong writing skills with attention to detail and an ability to identify and produce engaging stories. You will have excellent communication, interpersonal and prioritisation skills, be organised and plan workload effectively to meet deadlines. You will enjoy working as part of a team while also able to work independently, taking initiative and holding yourself accountable to tasks. Most importantly, you will have a passion for your work, literature, reading and writing, and the work of The London Library; to inspire new ideas that create a unique impact on the UK’s literary and artistic output.

We are a friendly, hardworking team and a welcoming workplace that supports flexible working. In line with the Library’s hybrid working policy, you will need to be able to work onsite regularly to create content and take part in in-person collaboration, with regular evenings and occasional weekend work (with time off in lieu), but you will also have the opportunity to work from home.
