About the Role

This newly created senior fundraising position is an exciting, career-defining opportunity! As Philanthropy Manager you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing the charity’s Major Donor and Individual Giving strategies, ensuring they achieve their ambitious income growth.

• Develop and grow the Major Donor and Individual Giving programmes.

The Role:

As the Operations Manager, you’ll be the glue that holds internal operations together—streamlining workflows, improving internal systems, and ensuring everything from governance to HR and finance runs efficiently.

Main responsibilities:

• Operations & Process Improvement – Implement and optimise internal workflows, oversee shared mailboxes, document key processes, and lead the rollout of the new Intranet.

About This Role

Over the next three years, Smart Works Leeds want to expand and embed the service we offer within the Bradford district. Reaching unemployed women in Bradford is integral to our mission of increasing the number of women we support in 2025 and beyond.

Thanks to a successful grant application from Yorkshire Building Society Foundation, we now have the funding to expand the team and enhance our strategy. We are looking for a Partnerships and Engagement Coordinator to join us and support this exciting growth.

We’re looking to recruit a Teaching Community Manager to join our education team, harnessing the power of education to help shape a positive and sustainable future for our planet.

About the Role:

As the Educational Partnerships Manager, you will play a vital role in connecting with schools, colleges, and youth clubs across North East London, with a particular focus on those based in the most disadvantaged communities. You’ll be a key member of YE’s Educational Partnerships Regional Team, collaborating closely with the Educational Partnerships Regional Manager to drive the success of our enterprise and financial education programmes. These programmes are designed to help young people make positive contributions to their communities and society, while equipping them with the tools to shape their own future.

This is a dynamic and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will engage directly with young people and teachers in schools, delivering and supporting YE’s programmes, while developing new relationships and strengthening existing partnerships.

There is a degree of manual handling and you will be required to work some evenings and weekends. Further:

• There is the potential to be on your feet for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to support with setting up venues for events.
• You will be required to transport resources and other materials between your car and the venue or around a school building.

Key Responsibilities:

• Income Generation: Actively support efforts to generate local income and secure resources to continue delivering our impactful programmes.

Safeguarding Manager

This is a meaningful and high-impact opportunity for an experienced safeguarding professional to support a grantmaking organization that funds more than 175 frontline partners in 10 global hotspots to improve the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.

Reporting to the Managing Director of Finance and Operations and working closely with colleagues to lead efforts to build internal capacity and embed strong, inclusive safeguarding practices throughout our work. You’ll coordinate a network of safeguarding focal points and champions across teams and geographies, helping ensure safeguarding is an active, everyday part of our organizational culture.

You’ll support management in assessing and mitigating safeguarding risks in our operations and partnerships, and play a key role in responding to safeguarding reports with care, professionalism and integrity.

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring not just safeguarding expertise, but also emotional intelligence, cultural humility and a thoughtful, collaborative approach. You’ll know how to navigate sensitive conversations with care, balance compassion with accountability, and foster trust across diverse teams and partners.

Policy and Engagement Manager

The Donkey Sanctuary are tackling the greatest threats working donkeys face locally and around the world, from the donkey skin trade to challenges working animals face in disasters. 

We have an excellent opportunity for a creative and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and collaborative skills to join our collaborative global department focused on influencing change, using campaigning and public affairs tactics. 

Position: Policy and Engagement Manager

Location: Devon – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty/hybrid working (applications for fully remote/home working and flexible working patterns welcomed)

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week, 08.30-16.30, Monday-Friday

Salary: £46,402 per annum

Contract: Permanent

About the Role

As Policy and Engagement Manager, you will work in partnership with department leadership to manage our positioning and evidence base for ambitious global influencing strategy and plans, and will share the load on external representation, from local to UN level. This vital role will help us advance credible connections with the sustainable development, wildlife crime, One Health and One Welfare agendas, where this can leverage outcomes and exciting point in our strategy.

Principal duties include: 

• Developing UK, EU and global political engagement for organisation including developing an internal working network.

• Strategically supporting designated cross-organisation influencing campaigns and projects.

• Supporting our international programme partnership influencing goals, developing toolkits and supporting capacity to increase our reach.

• Managing a small team – developing its vision and objectives, maintaining and empowering an inclusive work environment, setting clear objectives to meet organisational goals.

• Developing and maintaining a multi-organisation alliance that engages stakeholders from multiple disciplines, including academic and governmental, for the benefit of the charity causes and managing the coordination of this work.

• Undertaking research and writing policy position papers, reports, briefs, factsheets, external blogs/publications and policy responses.

• Ensuring that The Donkey Sanctuary has a strong voice in the policy making process at national level through the formulation of high quality, well informed policy positions and outputs on issues of relevance to stakeholders.

Due to the seniority and nature of the role, flexibility will be required for working outside of core hours, and for occasional UK and international travel.

About You

You will need to bring with you the following skills and experience:

• Experience of working in a technical (animal welfare or health) global influencing role, with a focus on driving evidence based global positions.

• Experience in the development and delivery of policy positions, research and stakeholder mapping.

• Experience of developing policy or collaborative / coalition based initiatives from evidence-based research, coupled with the ability to communicate the findings to a range of audiences.

• Good knowledge of the major stakeholders the charity must work and engage with, including  UK Government, UN, AU-IBAR, WOAH, the World Bank and The EU.

• Strong written communication skills and research capabilities, and an ability to translate complex information into easy to understand messages.

• Extensive report writing experience, having written or led high level global reports and briefings and evaluating evidence of their impact.

• Excellent organisation skills, able to multi-task and demonstrate working with a number conflicting demands to meet multiple deadlines.
