About Victoria Hall Harrow

The Victoria Hall Harrow charity started in 1888, with the aim of building a high quality venue for the people of Harrow to come together and to build community. Since then our venue Victoria Hall has been rebuilt twice, most recently reopening to the public in Summer 2021. We also created a new charity some years back (a CIO), transferring the assets of the old charity over. For this reason our Charity Commission listing below is not representative of our current financial position and our assets. 

For around 140 years Victoria Hall has provided space for rent to local residents and groups. It has been used for every possible purpose - parties, events, activities, conferences and much more. 

More recently the trustee board have embarked on a renewed strategy process, and we are now relaunching the charity as a partnership-first community centre, that identifies local needs and uses our assets to best meet those needs, working with a wide range of partners to serve the local diverse communities. 

In June 2024 we agreed our new Vision and Mission. We are still now working through the overall draft of our strategy, which we will be happy to share with you as soon as it is ready in 1st draft form.

Role Summary

As our first CEO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Victoria Hall. You will be responsible for leading the organisation through this exciting transition, working closely with the Board of Trustees, staff, partners, and the wider community. This is a unique opportunity to build on our rich history and create a vibrant community hub that makes a real difference in people's lives.

The charity is in a solid financial position, which will enable us with the correct leadership in place to make real progress in our Vision and Mission. Our premises are new and extremely high quality, and very well located. There is a serious lack of high quality community space in Harrow, and we know already that there is significant demand and interest from a whole range of groups who serve the local diverse community. 

You will lead us in identifying what the most important and pressing needs are in our local community, and how best to meet those using our resources. You will create effective and impactful partnerships with local residents, community groups and charities, plus businesses and the statutory sector, to meet the needs identified. 

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement Victoria Hall's strategic vision, ensuring alignment with our mission and values, with a strong focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

• Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the community centre, including financial management, fundraising, marketing, and facilities management.

• Partnership Development: Build strong relationships with a diverse range of local organisations, businesses, and individuals to create a network of support for Victoria Hall's programs and services.

• Financial management and governance: Ensuring that we have robust processes in place, and that our finances are well managed. 

• Community Engagement: Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment at Victoria Hall, ensuring that our programs and services meet the needs of diverse community members.

• Staff Management: Provide leadership and support to the Centre Manager and other future staff, fostering a positive, collaborative, and diverse work environment.

As VHH is a very small charity, you will be fully hands on in all possible areas of strategy, governance and operations. You will need to be comfortable across all areas for which you will be responsible.

Summary of Role:

The ICT Officer will provide the first line technical support and ensures smooth ICT operations across the organisation. The role encompasses troubleshooting hardware/software and network issues, whilst managing devices via Microsoft Intune and maintaining Office 365 applications. Additionally, the ICT Officer is responsible for setting up and maintaining meeting room equipment, managing IT assets and ensuring security compliance. Ygam is seeking an Insight and Innovation Officer to join our Insight and Innovation team. The post holder will work with the Head of Insight and Innovation, supporting with research, knowledge translation, evaluations and insights into children and young people’s experiences of gaming and gambling harms.

Our Insight & Innovation team aids the design and delivery of Ygam’s strategy by supporting evidence-based decision making. Research, insight and knowledge translation:

· Support the commissioning and managing of research activities and collaborations.

· Develop longitudinal research to understand programme impact on our beneficiaries.

The Head of Strategic Projects and Management (Maternity Cover) will be pivotal in the Strategic Management Department, which is a supportive and hard-working team playing a critical role in the organisation. This role involves leading strategic and project management efforts, along with reporting for the Foundation and Academy Trust, to ensure a unified approach to strategic and operational changes. The individual will conduct research to identify, propose, and lead specific projects that enhance the organisation’s development and operations. Additionally, they will spearhead the execution of the Academy Trust’s growth strategy as agreed upon.

Purpose of the role

The Head of Strategic Projects and Management (Maternity Cover) will play a key role in the Strategic Management Department. The postholder will lead strategic and project management and reporting for the Foundation and Academy Trust, ensuring that there is a coordinated approach to strategic and operational change. The postholder will lead research, identifying, proposing and leading specific projects which will enhance the organisation’s development, operations and reach. The postholder will also lead the delivery of the Academy Trust’s growth strategy in its agreed form.

Responsibilities

Strategic Development

• Identify, propose and lead strategic development opportunities for the organisation. Conduct sector research to ensure that the Foundation’s strategy is data and environment-informed. Keep abreast of political developments in relation to MAT growth and development and investigate emerging opportunities in the field. Produce feasibility studies for prospective longer-term growth and development options in line with the overall Foundation Strategy.

• Develop and maintain an organisational analysis, including undertaking and presenting research on potential joiner schools and strategic partners, such as for joint ventures and new initiatives. Champion the Foundation Office’s adoption of Microsoft Viva Goals and the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) framework across various leadership groups, leveraging the platform as a tool for collaboration and strategic planning. This includes the delivery of training workshops and either leading or overseeing regular check-ins. Monitor and track major projects across the Foundation, supporting colleagues where required with project management oversight, visibility of key activity and effective resource allocation. Roll out and then embed the new major projects approval process across Academy Trust schools, ensuring consistent usage of the documentation and a commitment to continuous improvements. Maintain an engagement plan designed to attract and secure new joiner schools and strategic partners. Review and refine joiner school and strategic partner criteria on an ongoing basis in response to internal and external drivers. In collaboration with the External Relations Department, develop marketing and communications collateral linked to both the departmental and growth strategy.

Project Management and Reporting

• Have oversight of and manage the methodology, quality assurance and compliance of major organisational projects, ensuring that these projects are well-planned and well-executed, with appropriate approval, resourcing and evaluation. With the support of others, embed effective reporting processes across the organisation so that the Foundation Executive Committee and governance Groups, Committees and Boards benefit from a comprehensive schedule of reported information.

Growth Projects

• Conduct growth research with a focus on the current educational and political climate, looking to the Department of Education and West Midlands Regional Directorate for changes and updates to relevant policy. In the event of an academy conversion, transfer, or merger, the postholder would also undertake the following duties:   Convene and manage a project group comprised of representatives from the school, the Academy Trust and Birmingham City Council if appropriate. Manage all project documentation (including a comprehensive and regularly updated project plan, a register of risks and issues, an action tracker, project meeting notes, and reports to Trustees). Lead a thorough due diligence process. Support the incoming school to run a consultation process. Liaise with the Academy Trust’s legal advisers, Birmingham City Council, the DfE and other parties to bring about the completion of necessary land transfers, funding agreements, commercial transfer agreements and any required supplementary agreements. Manage the school’s integration into the Academy Trust’s operating model, ensuring that operational leads from relevant departments are kept informed of the project’s progress and issues and deliver any integration requirements. Act as a point of contact and support for operational leads, presenting issues and information arising from the due diligence process advising where actions are required. Develop and manage conversion budgets in collaboration with the Finance Department. Report to the appropriate board on project progress and risk mitigation.

2026 Foundation Strategy

• Prepare for the next iteration of the Foundation Strategy, supporting the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Strategic Management to research, write, communicate, refine, and then implement the strategy.

Leadership and Management

• Deputise for the Director of Strategic Management. Be accountable for the achievement of relevant objectives and associated key performance indicators set from the Foundation Strategy. As appropriate, represent the Foundation’s and Academy Trust’s interests in relevant internal and external fora. Play a full part in the life of the Foundation’s and Academy Trust’s communities and support its ethos. Be responsible for ensuring that relevant Foundation and Academy Trust policies are effectively implemented. Produce papers and report to appropriate Boards, Committees and Advisory Groups. Any other tasks which may be agreed from time to time with the post holder.

What you will bring

We are looking for someone with experience in of working at Director level in an organisation of comparable scale and complexity.  You should have a proven track record of representing organisations to interested parties, and of persuading and influencing at senior levels including experience of managing relationships with Government, Parliament, regulators, trade bodies, consumer organisations, firms and the media.

This role will require experience of developing and delivering organisational strategy. You will have experience in building effective teams of senior staff through people management skills such as leadership, vision, communication, motivation, constructive challenge and delegation.

Lingen Davies Cancer Fund exists to enhance cancer services and improve lives in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales. Founded in 1979, with the aim of bringing cancer services to Shropshire for the first time, our work is now focused in three key areas: cancer prevention and early diagnosis, excellent treatment delivered locally, and living well with and beyond cancer.

Two of our Fundraising Team have recently departed for exciting new projects, and we have taken this opportunity to create some different posts within the team. We really value our relationships with businesses and major donors around the region, and we are very pleased to be recruiting to this role, which will build capacity and focus in this area.

Our Relationship Fundraiser will work closely with colleagues across the charity to deliver excellent supporter care and stewardship, building long term relationships for Lingen Davies Cancer Fund. Attending a range of community events and networking opportunities to act as the face of the charity, including delivery of presentations, and to raise our profile across the region.

You will be responsible for maintaining and growing relationships with local businesses, and ensuring excellent stewardship of our donors, especially those giving larger philanthropic contributions.

You will also take the lead on our Friends of Lingen Davies scheme for regular donors, ensuring they are kept informed and engaged, and building their numbers.

You will work with colleagues to develop the use of our CRM system and apply data analysis to support delivery of the role, and to develop future plans and direction. You will be self-managing, motivated, have excellent interpersonal skills and be computer savvy!

This role is crucial in ensuring excellent relationships with fundraisers and donors while supporting the administrative functions of the fundraising team.

small team and support the charity’s work to secure positive change for refugees and people seeking

Internal Communications Officer

About the Role

We are looking to appoint an Internal Communications Officer who will play a critical role in developing and shaping the organisation’s internal communications for the staff of the Connexional Team.

The post holder will work closely with Senior Managers to ensure that the Team’s values, mission and updates are effectively communicated to all Team members working across several sites and from home, to foster a cohesive and motivated work environment.

The successful applicant will strive to create an environment where communication fosters a sense of community, aligned with the Church’s mission and values to create an engaged and informed Connexional Team.

In this crucial role, the Internal Communications Officer will be responsible for establishing and managing channels for staff feedback to leadership, producing engaging content for various channels, and organising and delivering internal events.

The successful applicant will also provide support and training for staff on communication tools and practices, encourage staff to be ambassadors of the Church, and plan and approve regular communications to be sent out to employees including staff newsletters and newsletters from Team members.

About You

The post holder will have at least three years’ experience of working with an internal communications context within an organisation and will have the ability to develop and implement comprehensive internal communications strategies that align with the organisation’s values.

You will be able to articulate messages clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, that are tailored to various internal audiences.  Exceptional writing, editing and proof-reading skills for a range of communication channels are a must for this role.

You will also have strong organisational skills with the ability to lead projects, work collaboratively and be proficient in digital communication tools and platforms.

The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal and listening skills with experience in building relationships with key internal stakeholders.

Role Summary

The Operations Executive will join a small but rapidly growing team working at GH50/50. Within this role, and in close collaboration with the Head of Operations you will ensure high quality administrative support across GH50/50, setting the entire team up for success. This is a crucial role that will ensure that things run effectively and efficiently in support of our mission.

This is a brand new role for GH50/50, therefore we are looking for a bright, self-starter who can work with the Head of Operations to shape the role; providing recommendations to the organisation on administrative processes and own their projects from conception to delivery.  You will play a pivotal role in supporting the charity's administrative and strategic initiatives as we enter a new phase of growth. We foresee that the successful candidate will enjoy variety, will be highly organised and will have a can-do attitude.

Job Responsibilities:

o Support the Head of Operations in the smooth and efficient running of the GH50/50 office.

o Collaborate with the Head of Operations to source and roll out a new organisation-wide management system for GH50/50, ensuring thoughtful integration into our current working practices.

o Organise the Co-CEOs calendars, including scheduling meetings and appointments.

o Support the Head of Operations to prepare and manage correspondence, reports, and documents as required.

o Alongside the Head of Operations, maintain effective office management and administrative procedures.

o Manage and triage the organisational email account

o Monitor and update the organisation-wide contact database

o Ensure compliance with data protection and ethics legislation, including being up to date with GDPR requirements (training can be provided).

o Coordinate support to the team on basic financial management tasks, including expense claims and other reporting.

o Arrange and coordinate internal and external meetings, including managing calendars, conference call logistics, venue booking and wider meeting preparation tasks, preparing agendas, and minute-taking/dissemination of actions.

o Attendance at internal meetings across all work streams to increase information sharing and keep a sense of organisations objectives

o Coordinate the distribution of board and trustee and advisory group(s) meeting materials and invites.

o Support the Head of Operations to improve the ease of filing documents through our current system - SharePoint.

o Own the planning and organising of certain events, including launches, roundtables and conferences. This will include event management and travel booking, when required.

o Flexibility to take on additional administrative tasks as and when needed in support of the charity.

Skills and Qualifications:

● A keen self starter, who is passionate about the GH50/50 mission and where they can have impact.

● Experience in working with or for academic institutes for research organisations would be beneficial, as would experience working with a remote team with globally based stakeholders

● Excellent organisational and time management skills.

● Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with high emotional intelligence.

● Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with HR and financial management systems.

● Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaborative professional relationships with a wide range of partners across diverse contexts, including whilst working remotely.
