The Role: Family Support Volunteer
As a Family Support Volunteer at Addiction Family Support, you will play a key role in offering emotional and practical support to individuals impacted by a loved one's addiction. Whether through our helpline or support groups, you will provide a compassionate, non-judgmental listening ear, helping individuals navigate challenging circumstances.
This is a flexible role that can be delivered remotely or in person, depending on the service you support. Family Support Volunteers work within a flexible rota system to accommodate their availability and commitments while ensuring ongoing support for those who need it most.
Responsibilities:
- Offer empathetic and non-judgmental emotional support to individuals impacted by a loved one’s addiction.
- Provide relevant information, literature, and resources to help clients or group members cope with their situations.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate support group meetings, encouraging members to share experiences and offer support.
- Respond to inquiries and offer structured emotional support via the helpline or support groups, adhering to guidelines and safeguarding measures.
- Maintain accurate records in line with GDPR and the charity’s policies.
- Participate in ongoing training, mentoring, and support sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Handle any potential safeguarding concerns and signpost clients to additional services when necessary.
Training and Development:
All Family Support Volunteers undergo a comprehensive three half day training programme covering addiction, core counselling skills, the 5-Step Method, bereavement, safeguarding, and self-care. Ongoing supervision, mentoring, and further development opportunities are available to support volunteers in their roles.

We’re looking for admin volunteers to help with our daily operations. We have a variety of ways you can get involved:
- Responding to client requests and enquiries
- Fundrasing and partnership management
- Managing and updating company databases
- Keeping track of partnership enquiries
- Maintaining internal, volunteer, and client records
- Drafting and mailing client correspondence and newsletters
- Organising events, scheduling meetings, and making travel arrangements
- Providing administrative support to other departments or projects as needed

We’ve designed our volunteering programme to be flexible and adaptive to you. All volunteering is 100% remote and you’re supported fully by our team. You control what you do and how many hours per week you want to volunteer. Some roles may require an Enhanced DBS check. If your application is successful, we will ask for a donation towards the cost of your enhanced DBS check if it's required for your role. This cost is £20.60.

In 2021, we began as a small volunteer group with a vision to empower young girls in Afghanistan facing immense barriers to learning by providing quality education and facilitating community-based education. WSUK is a small national charity based in West Sussex that supports children, young people and adults affected by Wolfram Syndrome (WS) and their parents/wider families. WS is an ultra-rare genetic disorder which causes a complex range of symptoms, including diabetes mellitus, vision problems, renal problems, deafness, and neurological problems. WSUK provides current, accurate and family-friendly information, raises awareness of WS among health professionals and the public, and helps to fund WS research.
WSUK Treasurer
The WSUK Board is seeking to recruit a Treasurer to complement and extend the range of skills and experience of its current members. This voluntary role will maintain an overview of WSUK’s activities to ensure its financial viability and that proper financial procedures are maintained. Summary of the role:
The overall role of the Treasurer is to maintain an overview of the organisation’s affairs, ensure its financial viability and ensure that proper financial records and procedures are maintained.
Overall responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Treasurer include:
· Overseeing and approving budgets, accounts and financial statements.
· Ensuring proper records are kept and effective financial procedures and controls are in place.
· Regularly reporting the financial position at Board meetings (e.g. quarterly reports), drawing attention to important points in a coherent and easily understandable way.
· Overseeing the production of an annual budget and proposing its adoption at the last meeting of the previous financial year.
· Being assured that the financial resources of the organisation meet its present and future needs.
· Keeping the Board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities.
· Liaising with members of the WSUK team about financial matters.
· Liaising at a Board level with external auditors on specific issues in the auditing process.
· Guiding and advising fellow trustees to formally approve the annual report and audited accounts.
· Contributing to the fundraising strategy of the organisation.
· Appraising the financial viability of plans and proposals.
Responsible to: This role works closely with the Chair and Board of Trustees
Experience and skills:
The treasurer should have the following qualities:
· Financial experience. (e.g. as a Financial Director, Financial controller or qualified accountant).
· Financial analytical and evaluation skills.
· Good, independent judgement and strong leadership skills.
· Ability to communicate clearly.
· A team-oriented approach to problem solving and to management.
· Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.
· A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort and be available to staff for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis.
· A commitment to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.
This is a voluntary position although all reasonable expenses are paid (in line with the WSUK expenses policy).
This role will require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Time commitment
· The Board meets around 4 times per year, held virtually in the evening.
· The AGM is typically held as a face-to-face meeting on a Saturday afternoon in / near Worthing, West Sussex.

We are seeking volunteers to work with adults and young people who have sexually harmed to integrate them safely into the community, model appropriate behaviour and combat social isolation which can often lead to re-offending. You will be part of a small group of volunteers who will work with a 'core member' to provide a Circle of Support & Accountability. You will have close support from a trained coordinator.

Circles South West needs more Circle Volunteers from all walks of life. We are looking for adults who are approachable and emotionally stable, with a mature outlook. The ability to maintain firm boundaries is essential. Circle Volunteers commit around 2-3 hours per week for 12 months. We provide full training, ongoing professional support and reimburse expenses. Appointment is dependent on suitability assessment, satisfactory references and criminal records checks.

What is an Administration Coordinator?
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas, each delivering support to serving personnel, veterans, and their families. Every branch has a team of volunteers who make this possible.
The Administrator Coordinator is a key member of the team, ensuring the smooth running of the branch and supporting day to day operations. This role is at the heart of the branch, overseeing the group inbox, organising meetings, and liaising with volunteers and external stakeholders.
Why do we need you?
We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.
We aim to provide financial, practical, and emotional support when it’s needed most. To do this we need excellent administrators to keep things running efficiently behind the scenes.
What would you be doing?
- Every SSAFA Branch has different needs, however, below are the main activities of a Branch Administration Coordinator.
- Overseeing enquiries: Overseeing the administration of the branch shared inbox and post, ensuring queries are answered.
- Getting people together: Organising internal meetings, both virtually and face to face
- Planning and organising: Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to arrange events such as the Branch Annual General Meeting
- Note taking and recording: Maintaining accurate records of meetings and decisions.
- Communicating: Supporting the Branch Chair with internal communications, keeping other volunteers up to date and informed
- Tracking and ordering: Keeping a record of branch assets, ordering stationery, and ensuring maintenance of equipment
- Supporting health and safety: Supporting the Branch Chair with administration of personal, office and event risk assessments where required
The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

- Regular meetings and events to learn and share information.
- Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses
- Volunteers will be covered by SSAFAs Public Liability Insurance whilst carrying out the role.
What are we looking for?
- Friendly and approachable people with good written and verbal communication skills.
- Some experience of coordinating people or events is beneficial.
- Good IT skills e.g., confident using email and online diaries– you will receive your own SSAFA email address.
- Respectful and non-judgemental approach.
- Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and boundaries.
- This role would suit someone who would like to volunteer regularly, each week.

We are looking for volunteers who have a keen eye for detail, an interest in fashion and a passion for supporting sustainability to join our retail team across 17th and 18th October at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Set up/replenishment – setting up rails, tidy and replenish stock.
- Marketing support – hand out flyers, create social posts and other support spreading the word about the event and Newlife.
- Fitting room advisor – welcome customers in to the fitting rooms, check them in and advise on outfits, obtain other sizes for customers.
- Cash desk – helping pack and sign customers up to Newlife Style Card.
All volunteers will receive a volunteer discount of 20% that can be used on any item of stock during the two days that the pop up store is running – which is a bonus on top of our already discounted prices!
You will be provided with the relevant training appropriate for your role and will be supported by our experienced retail team.
The pop up will be open from 10am – 5pm on day one (set up from 8am) and from 10am – 4pm on day two. For this role, we require a minimum commitment of one shift.
