We are looking for a dynamic Quality Coordinator to join our team and help standardise operations, ensuring consistent high-quality service. Additionally, this role will involve creating a blueprint to facilitate the expansion of Muslim Hands’ Open Kitchens across the UK.
Role Overview:
The Quality Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and consistent delivery of services across our three Open Kitchens. This includes developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to staff training, volunteer engagement, service delivery, and interactions with service users. In addition, the Quality Coordinator will be responsible for designing a scalable operational blueprint that will enable Muslim Hands to expand its network of Open Kitchens across the UK, replicating best practices and maintaining high standards at new locations.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Development and Implementation of SOPs
Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for key operational areas, including:
Staff training and induction programmes.
Standardising service delivery (e.g., food preparation, hygiene, and presentation).
Volunteer engagement, management, and retention strategies.
Interactions with service users, ensuring dignity, respect, and cultural sensitivity.
Ensure consistency in operations and service quality across the existing three Open Kitchens.
Regularly review and update SOPs to incorporate feedback from staff, volunteers, and service users.
2. Staff Training & Development
Design and deliver a structured staff training programme covering food safety, hygiene, customer service, safe guarding and kitchen operations.
Ensure that staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver a high-quality service.
Work with the Programmes Manager and other stakeholders to identify and address training needs or gaps in staff performance.
Conduct performance evaluations and ensure continuous development opportunities for staff members.
3. Standardising Service Delivery
Develop and implement service standards that ensure a consistent and positive experience for all service users, regardless of which Open Kitchen they visit.
Establish guidelines for meal preparation, serving protocols, and dining area management.
Introduce service quality audits to assess and ensure the effectiveness of standardised procedures.
Track service delivery performance and guest satisfaction, and make recommendations for improvement where necessary.
4. Volunteer Engagement and Management
Create and implement a volunteer engagement strategy to attract, train, and retain volunteers across all Open Kitchens.
Develop clear role descriptions, training materials, and expectations for volunteers.
Ensure that all volunteers are trained in food safety and service protocols, and understand the mission of Muslim Hands’ Open Kitchen.
Maintain a positive, welcoming environment for volunteers, and develop strategies to foster long-term volunteer relationships.
5. Service User Interactions
Develop guidelines to ensure that all service users are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion in line with the values of Muslim Hands.
Train staff and volunteers on communication, conflict resolution, and cultural sensitivity.
Gather and analyse feedback from service users to continually improve the guest experience.
Establish and maintain protocols for managing difficult situations with service users effectively and with empathy.
6. Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement
Regularly assess the performance of the Open Kitchens through audits, inspections, and service user feedback.
Identify opportunities for improvement in service delivery, staff training, and volunteer engagement.
Recommend and implement changes to SOPs based on assessments and findings.
Work with the Programme Manager and Open Kitchen Coordinator to track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to service quality and user satisfaction.
7. Blueprint for Expansion
Design a blueprint for setting up new Muslim Hands’ Open Kitchens across the UK, ensuring that they follow the same standards of service and operations.
Document key learnings from the existing Open Kitchens to create a replicable model that can be applied to future locations.
Collaborate with the Programme Manager identify potential new locations and establish expansion plans.
Ensure that the blueprint includes staffing, volunteer management, operational procedures, and compliance with local regulations.
8. Reporting & Communication
Provide regular reports to the Programmes Manager on the status of quality initiatives, SOP implementation, and service delivery.
Document and report on volunteer engagement, service quality audits, and training outcomes.
Ensure transparent communication with staff and volunteers about updates to SOPs, quality standards, and service delivery.
Qualifications and Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Public Health, Non-profit Management, Hospitality, or a related field preferred.
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance, operations coordination, or programme management, ideally within a non-profit or food service setting.
Strong understanding of food safety regulations and service quality standards.
Experience in developing and implementing SOPs, training programmes, and quality audits.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train, motivate, and engage staff and volunteers.
Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects across different locations.

Work Context

The postholder will conduct outreach, education, and training in several settings depending on the need of different young people. As part of your frontline work, you will encourage young people to sign up for a C-card, and if aged over 16, register to Get It in order to order condoms and lube from the website. When appropriate, you will refer young people into appropriate local sexual health services for contraception, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing, STI screening and treatment.

METRO work closely with our partner Spectra to deliver sexual health services in the London Boroughs of Wandsworth, Richmond, Merton and Kingston. In these Boroughs, METRO deliver the Come Correct free condom scheme (C-card), the National Chlamydia Screening Programme (NCSP) as well as Get It, an online scheme which offers condoms, lube, Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea screens.
METRO also delivers training and education, aimed at both young people and professionals working with young people, as well as community outreach and engagement to reach young people directly- particularly those who are most vulnerable to sexual ill health.

Managing and coordinating BIMA events, iftar, events, dinners, charity health promotions.

Coordinate local network projects/ activities for Luton Muslim Health Alliance and London Muslim Health Network, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.

We’re looking for a Head of Volunteering Development to lead and inspire new approaches to social action in Somerset.
We are seeking someone who is passionate about volunteering and the huge benefits it can bring for individuals and community organisations. You will explore new and innovative ways of working that help ensure volunteering is accessible to all, well supported, and provides a positive experience for everyone. In addition, you will build strong partnerships across the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector to help bring this vision to life.
Key responsibilities include:
- Engaging with partners, stakeholders and the wider VCFSE sector and build strong relationships to develop and implement a Somerset Vision for Volunteering
- Working with partners across the health system to deliver the Volunteer for Health programme, an initiative that seeks to develop volunteering infrastructure to support health and wellbeing outcomes
- Identifying and developing training support Volunteer Coordinators and Managers so volunteers feel supported
- Working with grassroots community groups to co-produce ways to enable place-based volunteer engagement
- Developing and implement innovative ways to engage new and returning volunteers and address barriers that exist
- Developing and growing our Volunteer Coordinators Forum; a network that allows shared learning, networking and best practice
- Working with the wider Spark Somerset team to develop our digital volunteering platform, Spark a Change, that matches residents of Somerset to a range of volunteering opportunities

Our Governance Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all governance work, providing support to the Board, CEO and Executive Team in all matters relating to governance and in particular for the Board and Committee meetings.
You’ll ensure that transactional activities are accurately completed within specified timeframes and co-ordinate all committees of the YHA Board and advise on and implement good governance practice.

What will you be doing?
- Lead and advising on all matters relating to governance including the constitution, memorandum and articles of association, standing orders and codes of conduct, including leading the implementation of any changes agreed by the Board.
- Provide best practice governance advice and support to the Chair, Board, CEO and Executive team, ensuring regulatory/codes of practice compliance, ongoing review of consultations on charity governance and promoting good governance in practice.
- Provide governance support to the Board, Audit and Risk Committee, Finance Committee, People, Remuneration, Impact and Engagement Committee, and the National Officers and Committee Chairs meeting and any other meetings linked to governance.
- Monitor changes in relevant governance legislation and the regulatory environment and take appropriate action.
- Project manage the organisation and delivery of the Annual General Meeting
- Plan and co-ordinate the annual Trustee induction programme.
- Responsible for the administration of the Company, for example: maintaining statutory company records and making the appropriate governance filings to Companies House and the Charity Commission.
- You’ll be the Company Secretary for YHA (England and Wales) and YHA Trading Limited.
- Assist the CEO and Executive with internal and external promotion, PR or other publications and events as required and particularly in relation to corporate governance and Board related issues.
- Develop relationships of trust and confidence, working pro-actively with the Chair, individual Board members, the CEO, Executive team, and external lawyers, where appropriate. You’ll be key in liaising between National Office teams and Board members.
What Skills and Experience do you need?
- Experience of providing governance support at Board level.
- Chartered Membership of the Chartered Governance Institute (or equivalent) or studying towards the qualification or suitable other experience. Experience of working independently, pro-actively and sensitively with senior stakeholders (Chair, CEO, Board members, Exec directors).
- Excellent project management skills and experience.
- Project team leadership skills and experience.
- Experience of budgetary control.
- Experience and in-depth knowledge of corporate and charity governance, including of company secretary functional requirements.
- Friendly, supportive, authoritative and approachable with the ability to adapt communication style to build positive relationships and provide proactive support for internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Able to take comprehensive and accurate minutes at speed.
- Able to adapt written communication style to deal with formal Board and governance communications, but equally at home with more informal communications when appropriate.
- Good level of IT skills particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and a working knowledge of portals for distributing and viewing board and committee papers.
- Very well organised, self-motivated and able to demonstrate initiative, to deal authoritatively with providing best practice advice, peaks and troughs in workload, and conflicting priorities including between departments and individuals.
- Able and willing to flex hours worked in order to cover Board and AGM meeting at weekends and frequent evenings and occasional early mornings (for committee meetings and distribution of Board and Committee papers) and travel to hostels throughout the network to support Board and other meetings, for which Time Off in Lieu will be provided.
- Flexible and adaptable, and willing to support the Chair, Board, CEO, Executive Team, and External Affairs Team.
- A good understanding of charity governance, operational and departmental organisation and requirements.
- A discreet and trusted confidante and source of advice for the Chair and CEO when needed, including tactful handling of sensitive/political issues.
