We are currently recruiting for a Deputy Director, Technology who will be the lead technology expert for the organisation. This is a new role offering the scope to shape Refuge’s response to the technology challenges we face in executing our strategy and achieving our mission.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record in delivering high-quality IT support service through effective contract management of the recently appointed outsourcing company, including the resolution of any remaining on-boarding issues. You will bring a strong understanding of IT security practices, regulatory compliance, and cyber security protocols. You will also be a trusted advisor for senior colleagues, providing expertise, identifying opportunities, and delivering solutions for modernisation, automation, and cost optimisation across the organisation. You will provide advice and technical guidance to teams who manage their own applications and systems (Finance, Fundraising, People and Culture, Helpline) and manage the procurement of new IT software solutions with key investments in case management, housing management and finance systems in the early planning stages. And you will take management responsibility for Refuge’s well-established and respected Data and Performance team, ensuring we continue to report to funders on standards of performance across our services.

Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our literacy and numeracy programme at HMP Ashfield, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn whilst also providing daily assistance in the running of the library.

Your key responsibility will be leading the data migration process, from mapping and cleaning data, to ensuring it aligns with our new CRM structure. You'll work closely with our delivery partner to transform data from Raiser's Edge into Dynamics 365, ensuring all data is correctly mapped and validated before migration. Part of your role will involve minimising disruptions during any downtime and advising on potential risks or training gaps that may arise throughout the project.
You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of the migrated data, checking for losses, inaccuracies, or duplications, and developing a robust recovery plan for the migration process. You will also work alongside our delivery partner to carry out thorough testing and validation to ensure the data transfer is accurate and meets the needs of the organisation.

What are we looking for?

The Role
One in three young people are growing up below the poverty line in Barnsley, leading to physical and mental health struggles, and significantly higher numbers of hospital admissions as a result. This new Youth Zone will transform the lives of thousands of young people for the better, and needs a Senior Philanthropy Manager to engage and inspire donors to support this unique, life-changing space. Duties will include:
- Identifying individual and corporate supporters, creating a picture and pipeline of potential donors.
- Generating pledged income through the delivery of a ‘Founder Patron’ campaign.
- Providing high quality stewardship to maximise donor retention.
- Organising events and activities to develop relationships with potential supporters.
- Maintaining, developing and leveraging existing relationships with Youth Zone project supporters.
The Person
We are looking for an inspiring and passionate individual with experience developing a pipeline of prospects and converting these to achieve targets. While major gift fundraising experience would certainly be advantageous, we are also keen to speak with people looking to embark on a career in this rewarding area from either a corporate, or broader fundraising, background. You should possess strong and persuasive written and verbal communication skills, and an unrivalled ability to listen to others and build mutual relationships. Summary of position and the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability
The RHN is a leading national centre of excellence, providing adult person-centred services that span the entire care pathway from post-acute rehabilitation services to end of life care, for people with complex Neuro-disability and their families, underpinned by a strong research and education programme.
The Fundraising Department is a small and friendly team, responsible for raising funds for a variety of vital therapies and services for the patients and residents. Furthermore, through a variety of income streams, the team helps to fund capital projects, such as ward refurbishments and new facilities.
The post-holder will become a key part in the development and growth of the charity, maximising financial income and raising awareness of the RHN. Managing our Community Fundraising Executive, you will maximise existing relationships and opportunities through excellent supporter stewardship. You will identify new fundraising opportunities, identifying and building relationships with new community groups. This role will involve occasional weekend and evening work, so a flexible approach is required.
Key responsibilities
- Organise the full calendar of fundraising events, including sporting/challenge, bespoke, special and community events, working towards a £230,000 target and £3.1m team target.
- Line manage the Community Fundraising Executive
- Be the first point of contact for volunteer event committees hosting events on site.
- Identify and build relationships with new community groups.
- Manage the delivery of a small portfolio community fundraising events including (but not limited to) the Christmas Fair, Bridge events and School Fun Runs
- Maintain relationships with existing corporate supporters and recruit new local and large businesses to actively engage in challenge and community events and corporate team building activities.
- Organise and secure sponsorship for special projects and events such as the annual Supporters Thank You Evening, Christmas Carol Concert and Party for Putney.
- Oversee the stewardship of challenge event participants
- Attend challenge events and recruit event volunteers
- Oversee the recruitment of participants for a range of running and other challenge events
- Retain and grow a third party portfolio of challenge events
- Work alongside the Communications Team and external designers to create and produce a range of publicity materials.
- Increase internal awareness of community fundraising throughout the organisation.
- Any other duties that may reasonably be expected to ensure the smooth running of the department, including working occasional weekends and evenings for specific events and providing cover for absent colleagues.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Comfortable in an environment interacting with profoundly disabled patients and their families.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Community Fundraising.
- Demonstrable experience leading Community and Challenge events.
- Self-motivated, able to motivate others and work well as part of a team.
- Strong organisational and time-keeping skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Confident in talking to groups and attending events, speaking about the charity.
- Computer literate, using Microsoft programmes, databases.
- Line Management experience.
- Experience of budgeting and reporting.
Desirable
- Experience of managing corporate relationships.
- Experience in or willingness to learn design software, WordPress, Dot digital.
- Full clean Drivers licence.
