We deliver a suite of programmes which offer young people the opportunity to explore university, apprenticeships and a range of the UK’s leading professions, and the work of our programmes team Intern is essential to this mission.
The Sutton Trust are currently recruiting for two Interns within the programmes team. One will focus on supporting our Employability programmes including our Pathways to the professions programmes and our Alumni Careers Plus programmes which includes two new strands of the programme in Tech and Consulting launching in 2025. The other will work across the programmes team on our University Access programmes (eg Sutton Trust Summer Schools and Sutton Trust Online ) and Alumni programmes and activities
The Programmes Interns will play an integral part in the team to help deliver on these initiatives and the long-term aims of the organisation. The roles are varied and will support student communication and delivery across our school age (16-18) programmes and university (post 18) activities for alumni. This is an extremely exciting time to be at the Trust and the roles will require individuals to be creative, flexible and to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Main duties
- Manage student logistics including booking travel, reimbursements and accommodation across a range of programmes.
- Responding to multiple student-facing email inboxes to ensure timely and effective communication with beneficiaries.
- Being the first point of contact on the Sutton Trust main phone line, answering questions from a range of stakeholders
- Being a main point of contact for students around activity attendance, eg following up with students who haven’t attended
- Assisting with planning and delivery of a range of in person events eg, residential conferences for students on Pathways programmes, employability events for Sutton Trust alumni and online webinars
- Updating content on Sutton Trusts website, digital student platforms (Sutton Trust Online and Sutton Trust Alumni) and materials needed for programme delivery
- Updating appropriate databases, for example on student information or university details to ensure this is accurate
- Liaising with external stakeholders such as universities and employers to support logistical and administrative elements of programme delivery
- Supporting on the creation of reports for funders and programme partners based on student engagement and feedback data, including pulling together data and creating visuals for reports

Person Specification

The Senior Programmes Manager: University Access will play a pivotal role in the University Access and Digital team, overseeing and managing the delivery of high-impact interventions, including UK Summer Schools, The Sutton Trust Fulbright US Programme and Teacher Champions, that support young people from underrepresented backgrounds in accessing highly selective universities. The role requires someone with a strong understanding of the barriers faced by young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, and a commitment to supporting them in reaching their potential.
With strong project management skills, key responsibilities include managing the programme partnerships, overseeing the marketing and applications process, monitoring and evaluating the impact of our programmes, continuously refining processes for improvements, and ensuring that the evolving needs of the target demographic are met. The post holder will also be expected to share best practice across the organisation and be a key contributor to the development of the Trust’s strategy for engaging schools, teachers, and students.
Main duties
Ongoing Programme Management
- Leading on the day-to-day project management and delivery of the Trust’s Higher Education access programmes with oversight and support from senior staff, including UK Summer Schools, The Sutton Trust Fulbright US Programme and Teacher Champions.
- Oversee the performance of 12 UK universities delivering the Sutton Trust’s Summer School programmes, the US-UK Fulbright Commission, Causeway Education, and other external partners. This includes:
- Managing partner performance against contractual obligations, including reporting and invoicing.
- Building and maintaining effective and enduring relationships, including the onboarding and training of new partners.
- Establishing a culture of collective learning through planning and delivery of events and best practice sharing.
- Overseeing the monitoring and evaluation of university access programmes in collaboration with external evaluation partners and internal teams; collating data and producing reports, ensuring the effective dissemination of findings and using these to refine programme design.
- Ensuring effective tracking, reporting, and management of programme data for university access. This includes using Salesforce (our CRM) for tracking partner performance, participant data, and programme outcomes.
- Managing programme budgets and reporting on financial status internally.
Programme innovation/development
- Proactively developing strategies to enhance programme delivery, ensuring programmes maintain their quality and reach, with a focus on continuous improvement.

- Development and implementation of the school and teacher engagement strategy to support our programme aims and contributing to trust-wide strategy in this area, with support from senior leadership.

Summary of the role:
The Global Programmes Assistant reports directly to the Global Programmes Manager and will primarily be responsible for providing support functions to the International Programmes team. The role requires excellent organisational, teamwork and numeracy skills, to work with key stakeholders to ensure an effective, efficient and quality delivery of development and emergency response programmes. The Global Programmes Assistant also supports the administrative work of the department, including the preparation and tracking of project payments, and maintaining partner due diligence records.
About the Role:
- Provide programme and administrative assistance to Country Programmes and Programmes Partnerships teams as required including support with the development and production of project proposals.
- Responsible for updating and maintaining the Project Tracker and SharePoint site.
- Maintain soft (and if required hard copies of) programme files, provide filing assistance to the team and support archiving.
- Ensure the timely submission of quarterly and completion reports, and support the review of seasonal and small-medium project reports as delegated by Country Programmes and Programmes Partnerships teams
- Maintain and review the report supporting documents including field reports, financial evidence, centrally agreed documents, media and case studies.
- Support the development of IPD wide administrative systems.

- Previous experience of working within a Programme Support/administrative role.

DFN Project SEARCH is delivering transformative change, supporting, and helping young people with learning disabilities and autism into the world of work. Nationally only 4.8% of people with special educational needs and disabilities gain permanent paid employment in the UK yet 70 percent of DFN Project SEARCH graduates gain jobs, 60 percent of them achieving full-time permanent roles.
You will be required to improve the quality and outcomes of existing DFN Project SEARCH programmes across a geographical area. This is with the aim of supporting the organisations to ensure that every intern has the best possible chance to gain full-time paid employment. The focus of this role is to ensure continuous improvement across all sites, relating to model fidelity and outcomes. This relates particularly to sites achieving less than 60% employment outcomes.
Our model means that our regional Programme Specialists form new partnerships and develop new DFN Project SEARCH sites, supporting them through to year one of delivery. Overall purpose of the job
The River Engagement and Education Officer will become a valued member of our small, friendly, and highly dedicated Community Engagement and Education Team. In this role, you will help organise river-related activities aimed at inspiring individuals and empowering them to take action for their rivers.
You will be actively involved in the catchment area, supporting volunteer initiatives, conducting school sessions, and assisting with community workshops. Your role will include facilitating enjoyable and memorable experiences through challenges, games, and experiments, allowing participants to explore their river environments and appreciate the benefits of being close to nature.
Additionally, you will encourage individuals to develop new skills by engaging in conservation activities such as river clean-ups, citizen science water quality monitoring, and wildlife surveys.
Please note that this position involves regulated activities with children, so the successful candidate will need to undergo an Enhanced DBS check prior to employment.
Travel and Schedule Requirements
This position will be based at the home address of the appointed employee, with regular use of the Trust’s desk space in Bristol. The post holder will be required to travel frequently throughout the Bristol Avon catchment for meetings, site visits, community and school events, and more. A full, current UK driving license and daily access to a vehicle covered by business insurance are essential for this role.
To minimise travel time and reduce carbon emissions, we prefer candidates who live within the catchment area. Mileage costs will be reimbursed. Additionally, this position may occasionally require working evenings, weekends, and public holidays to fulfil the responsibilities of the role. The Trust operates a time-off in lieu system.

Community Engagement Activities
Assist with delivery of our established community engagement programmes, including:
- Assisting in the execution of practical conservation activities for volunteers, including litter picks, vegetation management, and tree planting.

Over the next few years, we aim to create an adaptable leadership skill offer that will increase our reach to more young people across, fully establishing the Leadership Skills Foundation as the trusted voice for leadership skills development.
We have ambitions to empower a more diverse range of young people with opportunities to develop essential leadership and life skills, regardless of their background. We are recruiting two Mentoring Project Officers to support the Project Manager in delivering our high-quality 1-year Mentoring Programme that supports young carers aged 14-16 to achieve goals tailored to their needs. Each cohort will be delivered through a combination of 1:1 mentoring and monthly groups with a maximum of 8 mentees and 2 mentors. The programme aims to help the mentees improve their educational attainment, identify routes into further and/or higher education and apprenticeships, increase independence skills, build confidence, access appropriate services, reduce isolation and build resilience.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting young carers to reach their full potential. We do not expect you to have direct experience of mentoring nor working with young carers but we do expect you to have empathy, good listening skills and a strong knowledge of the needs and common challenges of young people aged 14-16 with a desire to make a real difference in their lives.
You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong partnerships with community organisations and to generate and maintain steady referrals to the programme. You will be required to assess young carers’ needs and in conjunction with the other Mentoring Project Officer, deliver one-to-one and group support to the mentees, carefully monitoring their progress. Further to this, you will be responsible for responding to safeguarding concerns and maintaining strong professional boundaries.

About the Role
As a Programme Officer at Unfold, you’ll ensure that our volunteer mentors feel supported and prepared for their work with young people. Alongside helping to recruit and onboard new mentors, including organising their training and reviewing their progress, you’ll be Volunteer Mentors main point of contact, making sure they have a rewarding and impactful experience. Your work will also include engaging with referrers, parents, and young people themselves, providing guidance and answering questions to ensure everyone feels connected to our mission.
You’ll also be hands-on with our youth programs, coordinating weekly Youth Support Groups and engaging with young people in outreach activities. You’ll work closely with our Programme Manager to build relationships with community organisations and support our Youth Advisory Council. You will play a key role in the successful establishment, monitoring and management of the Apprenticeship style training programme for trainees in Children and Young People work in churches in the Diocese of Southwark.
The postholder will enable the training placements to be properly administered and monitored, as well as, providing additional support for the apprentices and their parish line managers by having regular meetings and telephone calls. This post will require liaising with parish Children’s and Youth workers, coordinating training courses and general administration.
This is a new role, giving the opportunity to be involved from the start of the project, and to support the trainees on their journey to ministry in Children and Youth Work in the Diocese.

Founded in 1960, The British Society for Haematology is a registered charity and professional membership body. The object of the Society is to advance the practice and study of haematology and to facilitate contact between persons interested in haematology. The Society has some 3000 members consisting of doctors, scientists and nurses specialising in the field of haematology. The Society has the British Journal of Haematology as its official journal and offers a range of grants and scholarships for research.
The Role
The Head of Education will lead on the Society’s learning and training programme, ensuring that the activities developed by our volunteers cover the needs of current and future members and are created in the most engaging way possible. From overseeing our large annual conference, to smaller day training events, webinars and online resources, the post holder will also work collaboratively with stakeholders and industry to maximise our educational reach.
You will have responsibility for a small team and for the efficient running of the Education Committee and the Annual Scientific Meeting Programme Committee and will contribute effectively to decision making within the Society, including close working with the Director of External Affairs and the CEO.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, with a solid understanding of the professional education sector and experience of successfully developing and launching new education activities, especially online. You will be a proactive collaborator with the ability to manage teams, projects, budgets and strategic plans.
