Job Description – Head of Food Partnerships
Reporting to: COO
Location: Field base (regular food industry visits and travel)
Contract: 12 month FTC (Maternity Cover)
Hours: Full time – 35 hours
Salary: £68,974-£72,605

About FareShare
FareShare is the UK's biggest food charity, strengthening communities reaching nearly 1 million people through over 8,000 charities with over 134 million meals.
The food we provide would cost charities and people over £184 million if they had to buy it at retail value. This saves charities an average of £154 per week, which they use to build their capacity through things like paying for overheads, training staff, and investing in new equipment and resources.
We save the UK over £225 million through 34 sites, 18 delivery partners, over 26000 volunteers and over 1000 employability programme participants. Our work reaches 99.8% of UK constituencies, strengthening those communities through outcomes like providing healthier diets, reducing isolation, and helping children do better in school.
However, there are still over 10 billion meals worth of food being wasted in the UK's supply chain every year and tens of thousands across the country we could support to do more.
Our Vision: No good food goes to waste
Our Mission: Maximize the social and environmental impact of surplus food
Our Purpose: We are doers. We are a community. We change lives.
Our Values:
Passion – for our cause and the challenge that lies ahead
Ambition – to go the extra mile and drive the change that must happen
Respect – for ourselves, each other, our volunteers, our partners and our beneficiaries
Collaboration – it’s only by working with others that we can be stronger
Focus – on providing the best service possible so that we deliver and achieve the most for our clients/customers.
The role
Our key priority at FareShare UK is to increase the amount of surplus food redistributed to the charities and community groups we support across the UK. Food partners (manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers, importers, packers, catering providers, producers and others) are essential in helping us to achieve this, providing access to food and many other strategic resources. This crucial role will focus on working with our top food partners to maximise the mutual value in the relationship through strategic and structured account management. Our ability to meet growing demand and increase the amount of surplus food redistributed will be heavily influenced by the success you have in this role.
You will be the account lead for some of the biggest food businesses in the UK and will lead the Food Partnership Team focused on deepening and developing our most established food partnerships, maintaining food and funding from key accounts.
The role will see you lead your team to deliver a tiered and structured strategic account management approach of all top partners, coordinating colleagues across departments, including the Food Team, FareShare Go, Marketing, Fundraising, Network Operations and Volunteering teams. Working closely with the top food partners and internal stakeholders will ensure appropriate identification of activities, and monitoring of progress, benefits and evaluation.
You will help identify and overcome the barriers to food redistribution and increase the volumes of foods available to FareShare from food partners and their wider supply chains. You will innovate and problem-solve to provide the best outcomes for our most important food partners.

Business Process Improvement to deliver growth
- Understand the barriers to redistribution of food and lead initiatives to overcome them
- Develop new models of food redistribution which meet market needs and build new channels of supply to FareShare
- Liaise with colleagues in the FareShare Go and Supply Chain and Logistics teams to highlight and resolve any operational issues and support improvement programmes.
Project and Initiative Management
- Be responsible for managing and communicating key projects and initiatives and securing support from a range of internal stakeholders within the food partners and among the FareShare network.
- Prepare and proactively present the benefits of new initiatives to existing and potential partners despite the challenges to existing embedded processes.

- Lead, manage and motivate the part of the Food Partner Team focused on maintaining and deepening partnerships, creating a culture of high performance and a positive working environment.
- Support effective working with colleagues in the wider Food Team, and Network Development and Operations Teams to support an atmosphere of collaboration and trust consistent with FareShare’s values.
- Foster positive change, new ways of working and an understanding of best practice in using FareShare’s Customer Relationship Management systems.

For over nearly 50 years we’ve improved the outlook of endangered species in Britain and throughout the world.
We’ve been standing up for wildlife for nearly 50 years. We’re working to bring our most threatened species back from the brink.

Talent is everywhere, opportunity is not. The Talent Foundry (TTF), a UK education charity, bridges this gap and improves social mobility for young people in underserved schools.
Educational inequalities are vast, and the widening disadvantage gap is diminishing social mobility progress. Working with partners, including Dell Technologies, KPMG, the NHS and Network Rail we deliver industry-focused, skills workshops to enhance opportunities for young people (aged 9-18+).
Each year we impact 60,000 young people thanks to industry partnerships and their volunteers’ engagement across lightbulb moments in schools, through to intensive connections with employers.
The Programme Coordinator role
Due to the exciting expansion of our programmes we are seeking a new team member to support our next year of growth and delivery.
In this role you will provide crucial customer service and administration to support the delivery of our inspiring employability and skills-focused workshops in schools.
What you will be doing
- Coordination of multiple projects and events
- Using systems and administrative processes to manage workshop delivery
- Engage with schools and volunteers
- Enhance our feedback and customer service to all our stakeholders
The skills and experience you will bring
- Managing multiple and often conflicting priorities

- Technology (inc. MS office, including excel and spreadsheets) and seeking ways to maximise IT in administration
- Problem-solving and using initiative

- Hybrid working
- 28 days holiday + bank holidays

And if you join our team, you can expect to receive feedback like this from our former students:
"I just wanted to say a big thank you for your help. Without networking with you I would not have been so prepared for it. If it wasn't for Powering Potential all those years ago I would not have developed into the person I am today. So for that, I thank you."
Hybrid working
This is a hybrid role. You will be working from home and join Team Together Days in a co-working space in London 2-3 individual days each month. These days are considered commuting days. You do not need to live in London to apply for this role, but you will need to consider what you feel is a reasonable commuting distance for the team days in London.
A cover letter is optional instead of completing the application questions. While we encourage the use of innovative technology in our work, we want to hear your voice and personality in your application. AI is a tool, not a shortcut. This doesn’t mean asking AI to do the work for you, or copying and pasting answers, as this would limit the way you can showcase your personal experiences and strengths.
In your cover letter consider telling us your skills, experience or approach to the headings and activities we’ve outlined in ‘Key Responsibilities'. Then tell us about how you meet the person specification.

Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA) is the only UK charity dedicated to raising awareness of economic abuse and transforming responses to it. Our vision is a world in which all women and girls are economically equal and live their lives free of abuse and exploitation.
Economic abuse is a form of coercive and controlling behaviour: 95% of women who experience domestic abuse will experience economic abuse. It limits their choices and ability to access safety.
We work in partnership to ensure women have access to and control over their own economic resources. We focus on four strategic priorities: public education and awareness-raising; transforming professional responses; ensuring systems do not inadvertently facilitate economic abuse; and influencing policy.
Our work is led by victim-survivors of economic abuse (Experts by Experience). Their lived experience and knowledge shapes everything we do. We are always learning, and we share our expertise via a national working group and an international network of practitioners, researchers and policymakers.
Founded in 2017, we are purposeful and agile in approach. We led the successful call to recognise and define economic abuse within the UK Parliament’s Domestic Abuse Bill. This has created a framework and momentum for change. Our aim now is to ensure that policy and practice recognises economic abuse so that victim-survivors are supported to achieve economic justice and abusers are held accountable for their behaviour.

The Compass Project Coordinator will work as part of an exciting new partnership between Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA), Living Without Abuse (LWA) and RISE (Refuge, Information, Support & Education). - Develop and maintain key working relationships and partnerships with various stakeholders and partners across the two local sites including the facilitation of links with money and debt advice services, and local financial services.
- Support the collection of qualitative and quantitative data from the network for the purpose of project and external evaluation.
