Through the appointment of a Strategic Programme Director (SPD), we have been given an opportunity to bring a step change in our mission and ministry across the Diocese of Coventry.  With a history of innovative missional practice and a dedicated team of lay and ordained leaders across our diverse geographical area (Warwickshire, Coventry and part of Solihull), we are looking to appoint a strategic thinker who is solutions focused with experience in bringing impactful change. The SPD will join us at an exciting time in the strategic development of the Diocese of Coventry as our new diocesan bishop takes up her responsibilities with a vision to see all churches flourish. A highly consultative approach will be needed as we look ahead to the beginning of this new season.

The Strategic Programme Director will be responsible for contributing to and supporting the Bishop’s Senior Staff Team and key lay and ordained leaders in the delivery of the diocesan strategy. The role will ensure that the programmes, projects and workstreams within the plan are delivered on time, within scope and budget. The Programme Director will provide oversight of the strategic plan from inception of ideas through implementation to delivery of projects.  Working collaboratively across the Diocese, the role will also ensure that key outcomes are well-defined, appropriately prioritised, delivered to plan and within budget. The role will include shaping and scoping the request for partnership/external funding.

Programme Development & Planning

• In the first year: To prioritise the clear articulation of a diocesan wide vision and direction of travel through working closely with the Bishop and the Bishop’s Senior Staff Team building on the work achieved in recent years.
• Work with key stakeholders to develop strategic initiatives aligned with the diocesan vision and strategy
• Ensure strategic proposals have clarity and viability
• Ensure effective communication with clarity, consistency and transparency
• Work with senior leaders to prioritise outline proposals
• Work with senior leaders to develop change proposals including detailed outcomes and the process by which those outcomes will be achieved
• Regularly assess the viability of development proposals
• Work with partnership funding bodies, including the C of E Vision and Strategy Team, to submit funding proposals and assure the quality of applications for any partnership funding
• Represent the Diocese in discussions with partnership funders
• Work with senior leaders to make the best use of central resources to support change

Programme Management

• Facilitate the launch of partnership-funded strategic projects, ensuring they are appropriately planned, resourced, measured and managed.
• Establish appropriate programme governance, including risk management, change management, regular reporting, and budget management
• Work with the communications team to ensure consistent and effective messaging
• Establish review and support processes to ensure projects are delivered successfully
• Ensure intervention processes are developed to pause, or if necessary, terminate projects that have demonstrated they will not deliver
• Capture and publish lessons learned, and support research studies
• Build consistent protocols for all significant strategic development initiatives
• Track progress against a detailed project plan, deliverables, outcomes and measures
• Manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs, escalating to BSIG as required
• Provide support for operational aspects of projects in liaison with diocesan colleagues
• Ensure project leads/managers regularly complete a quality project highlight report
• Address project issues and risks, escalating to BSST accordingly

Primary Specialist

We are looking for a Primary Specialist (term time + 3 weeks only) to join a team providing educational support to children, families, and local schools in the aftermath of the Grenfell tragedy.

Position: Primary Specialist
Location: West London (office-based)
Salary: £51,429 - £58,140 per annum (£48,857 – £55,233 actual/pro-rata)

Hours: Full Time (36 hours per week)
Contract: Permanent (term time + 3 weeks only = 42 weeks)

The Role

The Primary Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting children affected by the Grenfell tragedy. Working closely with families and primary schools, you will help identify individual needs, develop tailored solutions, and advocate for children’s education and wellbeing.

You will:

• Conduct baseline assessments to understand children's specific needs.
• Provide advice and guidance to parents on school applications, transitions, and educational rights.
• Liaise between families and schools, ensuring teachers are informed about children's needs and support.
• Connect families with relevant external support services and refer to health organisations such as the Grenfell Health and Wellbeing Service.
• Deliver trauma-informed guidance on the impact of trauma on learning and behaviour, offering strategies for emotional regulation and academic success.
• Develop and run workshops on family relationships, communication, and restorative practices.
• Facilitate open dialogue sessions where involved parties can express their feelings and work towards mutual understanding.
• Plan and deliver small group after-school teaching sessions (both online and in-person) to supplement the school curriculum in English and Maths.

About the Organisation

The Grenfell Education Hub will open later this year to serve those most affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy. The hub will provide educational support to children, young people, their families, and local schools.

Following a consultation process in 2023 and 2024, the hub will bring together a team of professionals, including four specialist teachers, an Educational Psychologist, a Speech and Language Therapist, an Occupational Therapist, a Careers Coordinator, and a Family Support Worker. Their time will be split between direct work with children and families in the hub and supporting local schools.

The hub’s objectives are to:

• Provide high-quality educational support to as many children and young people as possible.
• Build the skills and confidence of children, families, and education staff in local schools.

We are looking for passionate and qualified A level tutors to deliver high quality group tuition to our cohort of almost 1,000 students. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced tutors with a love of learning to help bright students overcome barriers to academic achievement. Tutorials are delivered online to groups of up to 4 students via our bespoke online learning platform.

Tutorials generally take place between the hours of 3pm and 8pm on weekday evenings, with flexibility around the schedules of our tutors and students.

Overall Purpose

The Office Administrator will provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Foundation. St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, supporting and enabling them to access and receive physical and mental health first aid. Job Summary

Young Responders is an exciting project that started delivering street first aid sessions during 2023 as part of St John Ambulance. The project was created to engage and empower young people from diverse communities who face the greatest health inequities to become active health citizens, through practical physical first aid and mental awareness sessions relevant to the challenges they face. 

The programme is aimed at young people aged 11 to 25, who would not typically come through our doors delivering first aid training to young people from under-served communities. In 2023 the Young Responders team delivered session to almost 16,000 Young People and over 2024 they aim to reach a further 20,000 Young People, if not more. 

Working as part of the team as a Facilitator you will support the growth of the service and be responsible for directly leading and delivering first aid training sessions with community organisations and educational settings. This role will also offer pastoral support to our growing Volunteer team offering mentoring and guidance to those delivering sessions supporting their welfare and wellbeing. 

This is a 35 hours per week role and we are looking for someone who is empathetic and feels passion about supporting Young People. The role is to cover London so travel is essential. 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Experience in Youth Work or working with young people in a community context
• Experience of planning and/or the delivery of community-based training
• Experience of safeguarding and willing to undertake Safeguarding training relevant to the role
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, verbally and in writing
• Understanding of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and issues around social mobility
• Ability to work well in a team and able to motivate young people and volunteers
• Due to the nature of the role you will need to hold a full, UK driving licence (maximum 6 points) and have access to your own vehicle

• Work collaboratively with the Project Coordinators to plan the delivery of young responder first aid sessions in the community
• Work with the Partnerships Manager to identify and build partnerships with local organisations and educational settings to support project delivery
• Engage with a range of stakeholders both internally and externally to St John Ambulance
• Liaise with the Delivery Teams to promote the project in the community
• Effectively provide pastoral support and guidance to the Volunteer team to ensure their welfare and wellbeing
• Be aware of the contextual safeguarding issues that might arise, raising concerns and supporting young people in accordance with St John Ambulance policy
• Ensure training sessions held in the community are risk assessed and registered as per current St John Ambulance procedures

he Corporate Services team provides essential strategic and operational support across the organisation. Our governance function oversees compliance, risk management, and performance frameworks. The finance team manages budgets, financial planning, and reporting. All of this contributes to effective decision making. We are also responsible for looking after our properties, which includes maintaining oversight of two commercial leases, and maintaining Dartmouth House which is a grade II* listed events venue and our Head Office in Mayfair. 

Purpose of this role  

The Business Support Administrator will provide high quality support to the Board of Trustees and its sub-Committees, and the Chief Operating Officer. This role will work closely with the Executive Assistant to the Director General. 

Responsibilities and Expectations  

• Provide high-quality administrative and organisational support to the Chief Operating Officer, helping to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. 

• Coordinate the preparation and timely circulation of agendas, papers, minutes and action logs for Board and Committee meetings. 

• Monitor and report on progress against Board and Committee actions, ensuring timely follow-up and delivery 

• Support the delivery of the annual Board effectiveness review, gathering feedback and helping to implement improvements. 

• Assist with the planning and delivery of the annual external audit, working with colleagues and auditors to meet key deadlines. 

• Maintain key registers including the Gift & Hospitality Register, Declarations of Interest, and compliance trackers. 

• Facilitate due diligence checks as needed, liaising with legal advisors to ensure accuracy and compliance. 

• Maintain the organisation’s contract register, tracking review dates and supporting internal contract reviews and renewals. 

• Deliver one-off projects and provide flexible support across the Corporate Services team as required.

Our family support workers really focus on what we do at a grass roots level. Providing support to families on a daily basis as well as supporting and coordinating volunteers. Prior work with children and families is advantageous as is some knowledge of bereavement. However, full training and support will be given to the successful candidate.

Bereavement support is a challenging area of work, but also extremely fulfilling whether as a long-term career, or to develop experience and knowledge that can be transfered into other roles within the education, health and social care sectors. Attitude and aptitude are as important as prior skills and experience.

The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh would also be an advantage to this position or the willingness to learn.

We are looking for an individual with experience of working strategically at a place based and/or locality level within the South West region. Someone who can positively influence local developments, systems and investments to tackle the inequalities disabled people face in sport and activity through inclusive practice.

The successful candidate will work remotely from home and be based in the South West region. This role will involve travel across the region and occasional travel to our Loughborough and Manchester offices.
