As Volunteer Coordinator, you will lead on recruiting, supervising, supporting and developing volunteers, drawing on your own lived experience of Disability to provide a positive role model.
Position: Volunteer Coordinator

Location: Role may involve some working from home on occasion, but majority of the hours will be supporting volunteers in our office in Anerley, plus attending face to face meetings and events in Bromley Borough and occasionally in London.

Your challenge? To do everything you can to help the individuals we work with to source appropriate work experience placements with local organisations/employers. Day to day, you’ll offer support, careers advice and guidance, helping people to set their own recovery and employment focused goals and provide training in personal and skills development such as CV preparation, interview techniques etc. You’ll also be responsible for establishing and maintaining positive links with community mental health teams and have the initiative to develop and promote the service. Having run for almost a decade, Project Indigo is well known in Hackney, and works alongside local LGBTQIA+ projects, as well as mental health and youth services. Project Indigo maintains a youth-led and person-centred approach, with this role being developed in consultation with our members to address the barriers they face in accessing training and development opportunities.
We are seeking a Peer Mentoring Coordinator to develop and manage our new LGBTQIA+ Peer Mentoring Programme, training and supporting Project Indigo members to train as mentors and deliver mentoring sessions with younger LGBTQIA+ people in the local community. You will enrich Project Indigo’s holistic offer by providing young people with the opportunity to access training, qualifications and work experience while receiving high quality support tailored to their needs.
Off Centre is a service that provides a range of targeted mental health focused support services to young people aged 16 to 25 who registered with a City and Hackney GP. These include: individual, counselling and psychotherapy, individual and group art psychotherapy, key-work support, out of hours drop-in service on Thursday evenings, targeted provision for children and young people of African, Caribbean and mixed heritage (ACH), and an Information and Advice provision.
Main Responsibilities:
· You will develop and lead Project Indigo’s new Peer Mentoring Programme.

What will my main duties be?
With the support of the Assistant Director of Operations:
Volunteer recruitment:
- To develop a volunteer recruitment plan to meet programme and organisational need; and to work closely with the corporate partnerships team and programme and regional managers to implement the recruitment plan, for example working with the Heads of Mentoring to implement a university student recruitment plan for the Mentoring programme
- To deliver guidance and training to support local IntoUniversity centres to implement the recruitment plan, including working with universities and community organisations
- To manage volunteer enquiries and national recruitment channels, such as volunteering sites and networks
Volunteer onboarding
- To use the charity’s Salesforce database to manage the volunteer pipeline - from application, to selection and training, to centre allocation
- To manage the process of onboarding steps including application form, training, Safer Recruitment checks, and support local IntoUniversity centres to implement the onboarding process consistently
- To work with the programmes and delivery team to ensure efficient induction takes place and to ensure staff are recording all volunteering activity on Salesforce
Volunteer training
- To implement a high-quality volunteer training programme for regular volunteer roles, including: organisation of a training schedule and staffing; facilitation of training (alongside delivery staff); providing guidance and training to staff to deliver volunteer training; reviewing training resources and facilitation
Volunteer experience:
- To provide support, resources, and training to centre staff and programme managers to ensure quality volunteer management throughout the volunteer lifecycle

Programme Description
The programme is part of the Mayor of London’s flagship violence reduction programme, known as MyEnds. It is a place-based violence reduction initiative that adopts a public health approach. CAAS provide an ADHD and Autism Support Service for the 8 boroughs of NW London, from our base in Eastcote, with a team of Support Workers. Our work includes offering information, advice, and support to ADHD / autistic people, their families, and professionals in NW London, with the aim of improving quality of life and developing neurodiverse-aware communities. Some of the support is offered through one2one meetings, some of the support is provided through groups and courses which aim to increase understanding and awareness, and provide opportunities for peer support, and some of the support is offered through training and workshops to educate professionals and drive for accommodations to be made to services to allow greater access for our client group.
The Family Team Lead will assist the Family Service Manager in overseeing the operational running and leadership and management of our Family Team at our centre in Eastcote.
The Family Team Lead will be responsible for the line management of some of our Family Support Workers, as well as the direct delivery of services, including being the lead facilitator on some of our parenting courses.
