This role is a core part of Pecan’s senior leadership team (SLT), working to develop strategic direction and playing a play a key role in the organisation’s aim to transform the lives of the most disadvantaged people in our community.
You will enable Pecan’s frontline team to deliver the highest possible standards of service. You will have responsibility for developing a strategy and vision for all community food activities and developments within Pecan. You will focus on ensuring the programmes have dignity at their heart and work towards seeing an end to foodbanks. You will work with the projects to support them to collaborate and work together. You will play a key role in the organisations aim of transforming the lives of the most disadvantaged people in our community.

Main Responsibilities:
- Line manage and appraise staff in line with Pecan’s procedures: Foodbank Manager, Pantry Manager, Operations Manager, and the Development Manager Community Food Programmes.
- Demonstrates strong financial literacy and business acumen.
- Develop and oversee food strategy for Pecan’s food services, implementing the vision to end the need for food banks, re‑imagining the food services offer and including a cash-first approach.
- Develop and manage partnerships with authorities, corporates, churches, community groups and networks to support the successful development of programmes.

As Director of Research, you will work closely with our CEO and will be responsible for:
- horizon scanning and landscape reviews to deliver our research strategy and ensure its continued relevance.
- research funding competitions to deliver at least £5m new research per annum.

- reviewing and creating funding schemes to address unmet need.
- our framework for impact evaluation.

We are looking for candidates with:
- significant experience working in a biomedical sciences research/funding environment.
- significant experience of research funding competitions, peer review, and grant management.
- experience of the evaluation of research outputs and impact.
- experience of motivating and managing a team.
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to evidence relationship building with senior stakeholders and acting as an organisational representative.
- a PhD in biomedical sciences or a degree in biological sciences (or equivalent experience) with extensive experience working in a biomedical sciences funding environment.

About the position
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced HR generalist to join a leading international anti-slavery organisation. You will be leading in a London-based HR and Operations team of four staff with high levels of autonomy and the ability to make a visible difference. Responsibilities
Lead the Global HR Function
· Lead on HR strategy and delivery across the global organisation – currently comprising approximately 85 staff in 10 countries
· Provide high quality and timely employee relations and change management advice and support to the Senior Leadership Team
· Manage renumeration and benefits globally, ensuring the Freedom Fund’s continuing ability to attract and retain a high performing team
· Oversee relationships with several Employers of Record and external payroll providers globally
· Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures and guidelines and staff handbooks globally

They are also responsible for overseeing the development and execution of STOPAIDS' organisation-wide media strategy.

The Head of Fundraising is an exciting new role developed for the Society to increase fundraising and develop additional income streams to enhance the sustainability of the Society. They will help deliver the Transformation Plan, an exciting new project for Scotland’s oldest learned antiquarian Society to help deliver the Society’s vision: “Scotland’s past is for everyone to research, share, enjoy and protect, home and abroad”.
The Transformation Plan includes the acquisition and redevelopment of a B-listed building in central Edinburgh to co-create the most inclusive, low-carbon and heritage-rich space to work, visit and participate. This will become a heritage hub for Scotland’s past, helping to bring heritage alive for a wide range of public audiences. This role will provide the necessary vision, leadership, and fundraising skills which will enable the Society to achieve its fundraising targets and enhance its development program.
They will be an effective fundraiser and key contact for grant giving organisations, personal donations and legacies. They will report directly to the Director sharing collective responsibility to deliver the Society’s strategy and vision.
Initially on a 2.5-year fixed term contract, with the possibility of extension subject to funding, the post will work as part of the senior management team and liaise directly with staff, Councillors (trustees), members (known as Fellows) and other organisations and individuals to ensure the successful delivery of their responsibilities.
The post will have the following immediate priorities:
· Helping develop and submit a major stage one Development Phase National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) grant application in collaboration with the Director and others, creating an engaging and successful proposal and case for support (part of an overall c£6m Transformation Plan project)
· Development and delivery of a major fundraising campaign based on personal giving, grant applications and other fundraising activities

Main Responsibilities
Strategy and planning
· Development and delivery of a fundraising campaign (including grant funding, individual and organisational donations, and other fundraising activities) for a c£6m project, setting targets in collaboration with the Director and meeting them, creating engaging and successful proposals and cases for support

Person Specification
The Head of Fundraising will have substantial fundraising and management experience, a talent for building relationships and a proven track record in securing funds from statutory sources, foundations, trusts and major donors. They will be a key contact for grant giving organisations, personal donations and legacies. This post is an initial 2.5-year (30 month) full-time contract which will be extendible subject to funding. There will be a short probationary period during which time your skills and suitability for the position will be assessed. Development of fundraising for the Transformation Plan will be the immediate priority. A lot of work has already been undertaken by the Society in preparing for an NLHF application as part of this, but the skill and experience of this post will ensure it has the maximum chance of success. This will include liaising with others, including NLHF staff and our consultants, the More Partnership.
The tasks and role will develop in line with the requirements in that application and the implementation of the Transformation Plan and will be reviewed after the submission of the initial NLHF bid. About this role
We’re looking to recruit an experienced individual who will lead on the donor engagement for all Impetus donors. This person will bridge the gap between our funders and the work we do with organisations in our portfolio and other partners to transform the lives of young people.
They will be primarily responsible for leading and delivering engagement through volunteering activities, and through this securing ongoing support for Impetus’s work. The role is strategic, working in close collaboration with our Investment team to first identify suitable volunteering opportunities via our portfolio partners and then working in close collaboration to deliver opportunities which closely align with the aims of our funders. Our volunteering activities span online CV workshops through to in-person Insight Days, work experience and beyond. The volunteering programme is a vital component of our stewardship offer to our donors, who seek opportunities to meet and support the young people that Impetus serves through the organisation in its portfolio.
The postholder will also support the Head of Engagement (Pro Bono) to enable Impetus to source pro bono support from corporate partners. The role line manages a Philanthropy Officer who facilitates the day-to-day running of volunteering events with partners.
Key responsibilities
Volunteering
- Manage and deliver c.50 online and in person meaningful volunteering activities a year via Impetus portfolio partners.
- Through this delivery of c.50 activities, support the management of Impetus’s funding partnerships, including Corporates, Individuals and Grant Making Trusts, to ensure donors are engaged with Impetus’s work and continue to support.
- Lead meetings (online and in person) with funders to identify their volunteering needs and drive forward engagement opportunities.
- Liaise closely with the Impetus Investment team and organisations in our portfolio to build relationships and craft the planning and delivery of a high-quality programme of volunteering sessions.
