Key responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Management
- Develop and implement the charity’s financial strategy to align it to the charity’s main strategy and support long-term goals.
- Provide financial insights to the leadership team to guide decision-making and resource allocation.
- Lead on the preparation of the annual budget, ensuring alignment with the charity's strategic objectives.
- Monitor and forecast financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Work with the Treasurer and trustees to develop and update financial policies and procedures as part of the Resources Committee.
- Keep under review AvMA reserves strategy and policy and recommend changes as necessary.
Day to Day Financial Duties
- Manage and oversee all financial transactions, including accounts payable & receivable, payroll and banking.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts and cash flow reports.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including VAT, Gift Aid, and charity reporting standards.
- In conjunction with our investment advisers, support the trustees and CEO with the management of an investment portfolio including the planning of necessary drawdowns for cashflow management purposes.
- Oversee the preparation of year-end accounts and liaise with external auditors.
- Maintain and update financial systems, ensuring robust controls are in place.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as a financial advisor to the CEO, trustees and senior leadership team on all matters.
- Present financial reports at board and committee meetings, explaining complex financial data in an accessible way.
- Work closely with fundraising, operations and medico legal teams to align financial plans with organisational objectives.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior finance staff and/or volunteers, as applicable.
Other Duties

Person Specification
Essential:
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CIPFA) or equivalent financial experience.
- Proven experience in financial management, ideally within a charity or non-profit organisation.
- Strong knowledge of UK charity accounting standards (SORP) and regulatory requirements as they apply to charities.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement financial strategies.
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g. Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to articulate clearly and effectively both in writing, on the telephone and face to face.

Every day millions of older and disabled people are denied the social care they need. Most local authorities can’t meet the growing demand for care, and none are confident they can meet their legal duties in the future. This affects all of us - we will all need social care at some point in our lives.
We all have a right to hold public bodies to account, but most of us cannot afford lawyers so rely on legal aid. The 92% drop in legal aid cases since 2010 means that we have nowhere to turn. Without access to justice, our rights do not exist. The rule of law is broken.
What we do
Access Social Care provides free legal advice and information for people with social care needs, helping achieve a better quality of life. We work with communities to increase knowledge of the law and our rights. We highlight the gap left by cuts to Legal Aid and provide advice for those who can’t afford it.
With a 98% success rate, our network of lawyers provide access to justice when things go wrong. We collaborate with social services whilst ensuring legal obligations are met. We are working towards a future where social care is adequately funded and we all get the support we need.
We provide rights awareness training to front line managers, and legal advice and support to families and individuals. As well as providing access to justice, our aim is to drive system level change through evidence-led influencing and strategic casework.
This is an exciting time to join ASC. We have a new strategy and are growing quickly including across our senior leadership team. We have more than doubled in size and income since we started operating in April 2020 and we anticipate that this strong growth will continue for the duration of our next strategic period. About the role
This role is pivotal to the growth and success of the charity. Its purpose is to support the Director of Partners and Engagement, the Fundraising Team and Head of Business Development, to lead the charity’s income generation. This includes activities in sourcing small, medium, and major (up to six figures) grant opportunities from trusts, foundations, and institutional/government funders, and individual donors where appropriate. Where opportunity presents, the role holder may also support the business development function. This could involve assisting in the development and implementation of new business growth opportunities to boost income generation. The role will involve project and core-cost fundraising.
Responsibilities

Work with the Director of Partners and Engagement and the fundraising team to maintain existing funds; research new income streams and prepare and submit business cases; and source new funding opportunities for Access Social Care’s projects and core-cost needs.

Participate in planning and strategy meetings. Work with the Finance Director and other leaders to develop and implement annual fundraising/income generation plans, gift tables, and budgets to achieve income targets.

Monitor income targets and provide regular progress reports and updates on performance against target.

Create and implement cultivation plans for high-value donors. Build and maintain long-term relationships with trusts and foundations, individual donors, and other income-generation partnerships through meetings and the production of detailed reports and presentations to generate repeat donations and renew income streams.

Lead on funding bid applications and reports including working with senior colleagues across the organisation to draft warm and cold acquisition, and bespoke written applications.

Build, monitor and manage a pipeline of prospective Trust & Foundation and Funder opportunities.

Keep comprehensive records of all fundraising and business development activities.

Maintain excellent relationships with internal stakeholders ensuring an up-to-date knowledge of current activities of Access Social Care’s work and brand. Secure case studies to showcase the charity’s work.

World Horse Welfare is an international charity that improves the lives of horses in the UK and around the world through education, campaigning and hands-on care. The International department is responsible for implementing the charity’s strategy in developing countries and aims to improve the welfare of as many working equids as possible.
We are seeking a project manager to join our International team to manage funds, budgets and accounts and become familiar with the working of local administration and legal requirements relating to partner organisations. This is not a role that is hands-on with Equids, you will be working with people who rely on them for their livelihoods in the community-based projects that underpin the charity’s presence in lower middle-income countries.
If you are a qualified Veterinarian this would be advantageous but not essential, as the focus of this role is Veterinary and Equid Welfare; ensuring that all practices by anyone associated with the programme are of an acceptable quality in terms of welfare and accepted professional veterinary standards. Working with Veterinary specialists you will co-ordinate all veterinary perspective discussions on interventions to address equine welfare across the programme. You will stay informed on current practices, related to Welfare and Veterinary intervention in terms of other organisations and institutions (including other welfare NGOs, Governments, or institutions such as WOAH) and represent World Horse Welfare in meetings, conferences, seminars and consultations concerning equine welfare.
Although UK based you will be required to travel internationally at least four times per year. This role is suitable for remote working, however, there is an expectation for attendance at our head office in Norfolk throughout the year and this will be at your own expense for travel and accommodation.

DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include:

Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled Philanthropy Manager with demonstrated experience, preferably within the charity sector or comparable commercial environment. The role will involve primarily working from home and must be situated in or near London to attend regular in person meetings with key staff.
Key responsibilities
Maintain a portfolio of 50 – 70 major donors and prospects by creating and implementing strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors with the capacity to make 5 and low 6-figure annual gifts (bigger gifts would fall to the Vice President, International Development and UK Fundraising Director)
Conduct 75 to 100 meetings with donors and prospects annually through one-on-one meetings, site visits, and other types of meaningful contact.
Provide recommendations and assist in executing effective strategies to practice moves management and increase fundraising results.
Write and create customised proposals and presentations for major donors.
In coordination with the UK Fundraising Director, assist with developing projects that will enhance the major giving operations of the Development Department and support them by developing strategy briefs and leading preparation meetings.
Help produce cultivation and stewardship programs for prospects and major donors.
Organise at least two major donor events each year.
Organising research on major donors as well as conducting supplemental research.
Ensure all key administrative tasks for the philanthropy programme are taken care of.

Travel
There is limited but regular travel into London for regular team meetings as well as travel as needed around the UK for meetings with major donors.
Required Education and Experience
5+ years of relevant experience with exposure to major gift donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship processes preferred.
A proven history of generating income in the £100,000’s and securing gifts of £25,000 or more.
Demonstrated success in developing substantive donor relationships and in supporting senior management, program staff, to execute donor and engagement strategies.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with both management and donors.
Extremely detail-oriented with strong organisational and time management skills.
Able to take ownership of a process and to use problem solving skills to resolve issues.

The Maternal Mental Health Alliance (MMHA) was founded in 2011 by people with lived experience, healthcare professionals, and organisations who understood the impact of perinatal mental problems and shared a commitment to improving the lives of women and their families.
Today, the MMHA is a UK-wide charity and network of over 130 member organisations. We work with parents, families, clinicians, and academics to ensure all women, birthing people, babies, and families have access to high-quality, compassionate mental health care. We bring the perinatal mental health community together and make change happen by combining the power of real-life experience with clinical and professional expertise.
We actively contribute to significantly improving mental health outcomes for people who experience discrimination, trauma and deprivation during the perinatal period and tackle systemic inequity and injustice.
We are now seeking a Chief Executive to take over from our interim CEO and lead the MMHA in the next stage of our development.
We have recently been awarded a 5-year grant by the National Lottery Community Fund to tackle maternal mental health inequities through community action. This project, due to start in Spring 2025, will develop, test and replicate a model of community-based decision making, support and service provision that is led by women with lived experience. This project aims to achieve system change locally and nationally to improve the mental health of marginalised women and is the next phase of the MMHA’s programme to tackle maternal mental health inequities across the UK. This will be our biggest piece of work over the next five years and will dovetail with other activities aimed at achieving our mission, where funding allows.

Main responsibilities
Leadership and strategy
- To provide clear strategic and inspirational leadership to the MMHA To drive the MMHA forward into the next stage of its development
- To ensure MMHA tackles maternal mental health inequities across the UK
- To be responsible for the management and administration of the charity within the strategic and accountability frameworks laid down by the Board of Trustees
- To work with Chair and Trustees in shaping the MMHA’s strategic mission, policies, aims and objectives
- To ensure long term sustainability of the MMHA through effective governance, sound finance and implementation of operational plans.
People
- To take overall responsibility for all permanent and temporary staff, and other members of the MMHA team, including contractors, champions and ambassadors

Governance, finance and compliance

- To be responsible overall for the financial sustainability of the charity, and ensure that there are effective mechanisms to ensure the robustness of external and internal controls (financial and non-financial), supported by the Consultant Finance Director

Income generation
- To take overall responsibility for the MMHA’s income generation activities, securing the future of the organisation and delivering its ambition for the mental health of women during the perinatal period
- To lead on all trust, foundation and lottery fundraising, establishing and maintaining relationships, including with the National Lottery Community Fund

Communications and external affairs

Children Change Colombia is a UK registered charity with 33 years' experience in defending children's rights in Colombia. Today we are the UK's largest charity working exclusively in Colombia. Purpose of the role:

To keep the Executive Director and Trustees informed on the charity’s financial status through the production of management accounts and other financial reports

To introduce and supervise the implementation of systems, procedures and controls to ensure the smooth running of the charity’s finances and maximise accountability.

To ensure that Children Change Colombia complies with its statutory obligations – specifically those relating to Charity Commission, Companie House and Inland Revenue.

Key Financial responsibilities
UK Finance:

Prepare annual consolidated statutory accounts, guaranteeing compliance with SORP requirements, liaising with external examiners, consolidating with Colombian accounts.

Prepare monthly management accounts, regular analytical reports on budget performance and cash flow forecasts for Executive Director (ED), Trustees and Treasurer at Finance Committee meetings, highlighting any specific areas of concern.

Attend Finance Committee and Board meetings.
