Responsibilities of our Community Fundraising Volunteer Team Leader:
- To recruit, develop, retain and support a diverse team of volunteers to enhance community fundraising activities and income generating opportunities.
- To lead on the promotion and coordination of volunteer activities within a community fundraising hub working collaboratively with the Community Fundraising Officers to drive income generation within the local vicinity.
- To provide practical, role specific and pastoral support for community fundraising volunteers adopting an exemplary approach to volunteer management and volunteer engagement.

About the role

We’re looking to recruit a Senior Communications and Engagement Officer to join the friendly CharityComms team to help us plan, organise and deliver communications and engagement outputs that support the needs of members, and drive organisational development.
A core part of the job will be overseeing the CharityComms’ social media work, by managing our channels, creating content, and delivering on our social media strategy to engage people and increase our brand profile.
Other key tasks include content creation and commissioning projects for our website, and having a supporting role in other general communications, engagement and marketing activity and administration as needed. Purpose of the role
You will be working with the Communications and Engagement team to promote CharityComms and what we offer, through the creation and development of effective and engaging content, and community and stakeholder engagement.
Communications and content are at the heart of this role, and we’re looking for someone with demonstratable experience in strategic, content-based projects, including commissioning and editing content from external stakeholders, social media management and content creation, and community management.
Social media management and community engagement
You will own the social media management of our channels, maximising their performance and supporting stakeholder engagement with our work. You will:
- Deliver and adapt a creative and engaging social content strategy with the Communications and Engagement Manager that meets our wider business aims and objectives.
- Craft key organisational messaging into engaging social media content and posts to generate conversations.
- Be responsible for creating, scheduling and managing social content using Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and our management tool, Sprout Social.
- Responsible for maintaining upkeep of social analytics reporting, as directed by the Communications and Engagement Manager, to ensure activity supports wider marketing, communications and engagement strategies.
- Continuously improve our social media presence and brand profile, including recommending and piloting new approaches to content and channel development to increase community engagement and meet targets.
- Manage and monitor forum and social media groups and act as facilitator of conversations where needed, working closely with relevant colleagues and stakeholders.
- Grow and deliver ways to increase engagement with new and existing audiences, including regular engagement activity on member’s posts (sharing, liking) and ensuring our member network is up to date within these channels.
Content commissioning and creation
Working proactively and collaboratively with the Communications and Engagement Manager to deliver our content plans. You will:
- Deliver and adapt our communications and engagement strategy to meet our objectives.
- Play an active role in content creation and marketing activity – including designing, producing and editing creative content i.e. graphics, photography, videos.
- Develop, coordinate and update long-form pieces for our website, i.e. best practice guides and templates.
- Have remit to commission content projects – using own initiative to develop initial pitches relevant to charity communicators and oversee the commissioning process.
- Work with external providers where necessary to develop resources and creative materials where required.
- Stay up to date with current communications, marketing and content trends, to advise the wider CharityComms team on best practice regarding content and campaigns, including accessibility.
Website and email comms
Working collaboratively with teams where needed or taking key roles to:
- Edit, upload, and publish content on the CharityComms website as directed.
- Work with the Communications and Engagement Manager to continuously deliver on website strategy activities.
- Work alongside the Communications and Engagement Manager to deliver eNews campaigns. This could include commissioning, writing, research, proof-reading, scheduling, maintaining lists and reporting on performance as needed.
- Actively provide feedback to the Communications and Engagement Manager and Head of Membership and Insight on planned activities and make recommendations for improvements.
Other activities
- Ability and confidence to deputise for the Communications and Engagement Manager where necessary.
- Analyse data for reporting and make recommendations.
- Work across the organisation to support communications and marketing activity to ensure consistent messaging, tone and content.

In the Services team, we currently have a range of peer support and information services and are constantly innovating, testing and refining our offer to ensure they reach as many people as possible and provide the support they want. This role will be responsible for scaling our existing services in Scotland and adapting them to meet the specific needs of patients and their families across the country. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with our patient community and lead change across the bowel cancer pathway in patient support.

Frazzled Cafe is a small mental health and wellbeing charity founded by Ruby Wax OBE, that provides a safe environment where people who are feeling frazzled and overwhelmed by the stresses of modern life can meet to talk and share their personal stories.
We run our free meetings online every single day of the year for anyone who needs them, and anyone can book and be included to talk, share, listen and to feel heard.
We're looking for a confident and positive self starter with a high level of emotional intelligence and brilliant communication skills to be our new Project Support and Administrative Officer.
The role will develop and implement Frazzled Cafe communications including managing inboxes and marketing via social media, printed materials, and newsletters. The Project and Support Administrative Officer will provide support to the CEO and Training and Programmes to plan and manage service delivery, support the recruitment, training and queries of volunteers, as well as provide day-to-day administrative support to enable the effective running of the Frazzled Cafe meetings and functions.
Frazzled Cafe runs meetings throughout the day, from early in the morning until late in the evening seven days a week – the Project Support and Administrative Officer will be responsible for scheduling these meetings and supporting our Facilitators when issues arise.
Please note that there may be some evening and weekend work expected when emergency tech or meeting issues arise.
Main tasks:
Core Programme:
● Manage the delivery of all Frazzled Cafe meetings by being the main point of contact for day-to-day queries, managing the day to day running of core programmes, ensuring documents, schedules, records and systems are all up to date, and being on call to deal with any issues that arise.
● Respond to all public enquiries in a helpful and efficient manner
● Managing the Frazzled Cafe meetings schedule by arranging our meetings with volunteers and uploading them onto our booking website
● Design all pre- and post- volunteer meeting polls and ensure these are completed
● Hosting Ruby Wax public meetings with Ruby on Zoom
Volunteer Support:
● Support the Training and Programmes Manager in the recruitment, evaluation and training of volunteers
● Be confident in having constructive and difficult conversations via Zoom, phone and email with our stakeholders and volunteer network
● Ensure all volunteer records and training tracking is maintained and updated, and arranging training meetings
● Assess feedback forms from volunteers that may highlight problems or risks within meetings and manage these accordingly
● Support all volunteers in case of distress, queries, updates, problem solving and escalating queries to the Training and Programmes Manager when required
● Support and minute monthly volunteer meetings
Communications and Marketing:
- Manage and design social media content across Frazzled Cafe’s platforms
- Write copy for a weekly external newsletter and monthly internal bulletin
- Promote Frazzled Cafe via printed materials, social media and partner relationships
- Web management
Data and internal operations:
● Manage and oversee all data collection from the core programme meetings, including analysis and presentation of results to CEO, Training and Programmes Manager and Trustees
● Build and maintain relationships with prospective and existing partners
● Support CEO and Development Manager with funding applications and relevant administration tasks
● Maintain office systems and the central filing system
● Assist colleagues whenever necessary.
Shared Responsibilities:
With the CEO and Training and Programmes Manager:
● Design and rollout ongoing participant feedback surveys, evaluate survey data and present conclusions/proposals for next steps to internal stakeholders.
● Manage continuous improvement projects to support the organisation and your own development
● Help with the development and implementation of the Frazzled Cafe strategy.
● Play a key role in the design and delivery of volunteer recruitment, training and support.
● Assist in the production of the Annual Report of the charity and other publications and publicity material.
● Represent the organisation at external meetings where appropriate.

This role is being advertised as full time (35 hours per week) but we are willing to consider applications from candidates who wish to work 28 hours per week.

- Provide first point of contact for new people affected by Parkinson’s wanting to engage with our community facing work in Scotland
- Promote and market activities in local areas to ensure our community are aware of all the offers available to support them
- Support the development of new activities with our community both locally and nationally in Scotland, by establishing contact with other organisations and individuals in Scotland
- Organise online and in-person, internal and external meetings and events, including booking venues and refreshments, assisting with the production of materials, fulfilling mailings and taking bookings for our community development work across Scotland
- Develop efficient processes and systems that support the running of all of our community-facing work in Scotland
What you’ll bring:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate when required at all levels internally and externally
- Ability to work co-productively with people living with Parkinson’s and those affected by it
- Excellent administration and support skills, including note-taking, presentation preparation and a positive, assertive and resilient approach to prioritising and juggling varying pressures and conflicting priorities
- Experience in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously that meet business requirements
