The role requires someone who is resilient, professional, self motivated with a strong work ethic and determination, attention to detail, the ability to make decisions and strong empathy for the clients we work with.
About us:
At the Islington Centre for Refugees and migrants, we welcome people who have been displaced from their countries of origin, wherever they have come from, whatever has happened in their lives. Our mission is to offer people the emotional support, practical tools and sense of community they need to be happy and have a decent quality of life in the UK. We are a small, growing charity, founded in 1997, with an expenditure budget of roughly £570,000 for the year ahead. About the role:
The successful applicant will work alongside our Trustees, our CEO and our existing Head of Fundraising and Communications in a jobshare to meet challenging fundraising targets. You will be joining us at an exciting time of development, as we open at our third site in Islington, welcome new members of staff to our team and begin work on a new strategy for 2025-2028. We have a strong track record of grant fundraising and seek someone who can support us to diversify our income, develop a fundraising strategy with a variety of income streams and bring experience and ideas to raise our profile. You will be part of a small and highly committed fundraising team of three including the existing Head of Fundraising and Communications, our Fundraising Officer and yourself. This role will focus on corporate, community, and major donor stewardship. Our work is hybrid and the role requires working both at the Centre in Islington and from home. Events and Community Fundraising Coordinator
£25,643 per year (London Living Wage)
Permanent, Full time 37.5 hours per week
Hybrid working with regular travel to our London Bridge Office
What the job involves
We’re looking for an Events and Community Fundraising Coordinator to join our Events and Community Team. A high performing team who are driven to maximise opportunities, we aim to reach ambitious targets and provide an excellent supporter experience.
Our team raises funds through a range of activities including:
· our own events (e.g. March for Men)
· virtual products (e.g. The Month Series)
· third party events (e.g. London Marathon)
· Golf Days
· helping community fundraisers who organise their own activity
You’ll be our first point of contact for our fundraisers. You'll provide admin and support through telephone, email, and social media channels. You’ll build and manage relationships with existing and new supporters. From registration to the end of their supporter journey you'll help motivate during challenges, offer fundraising advice and ensure thanks at the end of a first-class experience. Whilst each Coordinator has a primary area of responsibility across different types of events, you’ll also work across teams to support where needed during busy periods of activity.
This role works with data through maintaining our Raiser’s Edge database. You'll also update records on JustGiving and Facebook Fundraising. This requires accuracy and working under the requirements of GDPR.
You’ll also work with our Communications teams. This supports the planning and delivery of our activity. You'll help engage with our digital adverts and identify compelling supporter stories. This helps to raise the profile of our fundraising products, as well as prostate cancer and Prostate Cancer UK.
What we want from you
You’ll have the drive and determination to provide crucial support to our sector-leading programme of events which generated over £10.3m of gross income in 2022-23. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their fundraising career to grow, develop and gain valuable skills and experience in a fundraising role within a progressive and innovative organisation. You’ll be part of a passionate and high energy team fighting to stop prostate cancer from being a killer.
You’ll make a positive and valuable contribution to the success of the Events and Community Fundraising team through excellent communication skills and being proactive in supporting our event participants. You’ll have a strong eye for detail, customer-centric mindset and will be able to prioritise a busy workload to ensure we are able to consistently deliver excellent supporter care. You’ll be self-motivated, well organised and have a ‘can-do’ approach to the role.
Why work with us?
Every man needs to know about the most common cancer in men – prostate cancer. It’s a real and present danger that takes over 12,000 of our dads, grandads, brothers and friends each year.
Prostate Cancer UK is the largest men’s health charity in the UK. We have a simple ambition – to stop prostate cancer damaging lives. We invest millions in research to revolutionise testing, treatment and care. We’re blazing a trail to a screening programme that could save thousands of lives with regular, accurate tests for all men at risk. And we work tirelessly to spread the word about risk and offer specialist support to people living with the disease.
Work with us and you’ll see your efforts pay off as we give men and their families the power to navigate prostate cancer.

We stand against discrimination and prejudice, and we champion tolerance, fairness and equality in everything we do. This makes us stronger and helps us reach more people. We’re all here for the same reason: to give every man the power to navigate prostate cancer.
We're committed to righting health inequalities across the UK, starting with those faced by Black men who are at double risk. This includes ground-breaking research into Black men's risk and working with communities directly to overcome barriers to the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.
Therefore, we’re particularly interested in applications from those from marginalised and vulnerable communities. This will help us create an environment of inclusion where everyone can bring their authentic selves to work, where personal qualities are as important as professional experience, and our people feel seen and heard.

Battersea is here for every dog and cat, and has been since 1860. Our multiple award-winning Income Generation department raises around 60% of the Charity’s total income, allowing us to continue to grow to make sure we can be here for every cat and dog, now and in the future.
Our Direct Marketing Team is part of this department, and recruits and develops supporters. This will be a very rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in giving the dogs and cats in our care a better life.
More about Battersea:
At Battersea, we aim to never turn away a dog or cat in need of help. We give each one lots of love and expert care and get to know their characters and quirks so we can find them a new home that’s just right for them.
All the knowledge we gather in our centres helps us to improve the lives of the animals we’ll never meet, through our work with other rescue organisations and charities. We also help people make informed choices when getting a pet, we provide training and welfare advice, and we campaign for changes in the law when we see that dogs and cats or their owners deserve better.
Join us and help us be here for every dog and cat, wherever they are, for as long as they need us.

This enables our office-based staff to maintain the benefits of home working, while allowing for collaboration and maintaining a connection to our cause. In addition to this, our offices are in a great location within London, have modern facilities, offer great employee socialising spaces and a discounted café. Best of all, coming on site offers you the opportunity to meet our lovely rescues with lunchtime cat socialising and the occasional office dog!

We aim to ensure that this pledge, reinforced by our values, is embedded in our day-to-day working practices and our work together.
By hearing from and valuing different experiences, perspectives and contributions, we know we can provide the best expert care for every dog and cat who needs us.
