Role Requirements
- Lead the development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies to support the delivery of The Children’s Trust’s strategic objectives
- Provide exceptional line management and lead the Marketing and Communications team to develop their knowledge, skills and ways of working to support business aims and drive proactive and sustainable ways of working
- Create a positive environment, where the team feels valued and motivated to achieve individual objectives and deliver to high standards in line with The Children’s Trust policies, procedures, strategies and regulatory requirements
- Play a key role in the Fundraising, Retail and Communications Leadership team, promoting cross-team working and integration to optimise opportunities and manage risks effectively
- Development of content, including written, video and graphic content, tailored for the intended audience and produced for maximum reach and efficiency
- Develop and deliver marketing campaigns that support organisational recruitment and the development of the workforce, working in close collaboration with the People team – with a particular focus on ensuring a steady flow of applicants for key clinical roles
- Lead the development and implementation of an integrated communications plan, with consideration of the key messages and audiences from across The Children’s Trust, where relevant working closely with the Head of Business Development and Commissioning where audiences may include referrers and commissioners
- Lead The Children’s Trust press office function, supported by the Senior Media and Communications Manager, including being part of an out-of-hours on call press office rota during key periods
- Oversee and promote the consistent use of brand across all channels including core messages, tone and visual brand
- Responsible for the strategic development of The Children’s Trust website and overview of content, working with business owners across the organisation to ensure content is accurate, compliant and effective

The Children’s Trust is the UK’s leading charity for children with acquired brain injury, providing expert rehabilitation, education, therapy, and care at our national specialist centre in Tadworth, and to children and their families across the UK, via our Brain Injury Community Service.

About the role
As Digital Fundraising Officer at ClientEarth, you will play a key role in supporting the digital fundraising strategy in the UK and internationally to grow ClientEarth’s public supporter base and income streams.
The Digital Fundraising Officer sits within ClientEarth’s Global Digital team, itself a part of the External Affairs Department along with the Grants, Philanthropy, Public Affairs, and Global Communications teams.
Meet your Manager
In this role, you will be managed by Giacomo Vezzani. A fundraiser for 8 years, Giacomo previously worked for Freedom from Torture as part of their award-winning Digital & Campaigns team. At ClientEarth, he leverages his passion for climate comms to grow the organisation's following. Giacomo joined ClientEarth in 2022 and is based in our London office.
Main Duties
- Assist the Digital Acquisition team in the planning of flagship fundraising and lead-generation campaigns by supporting their strategy and delivery phases
- Lead on the delivery of weekly reporting updates for active campaigns, providing crucial insights for data-informed optimisations and tests
- Contribute to the wider Digital Fundraising Team’s quarterly and yearly reporting obligations, playing a key role in the dissemination of campaign results upwards and horizontally
Role requirements
- A track record of delivering successful digital marketing campaigns. This should include planning, delivery, optimisation and reporting.
- A demonstrable experience in handling data and reports, with solid numeracy skills and the ability to interpret and present information effectively.
- A demonstrable experience in developing on-brand digital content that resonates with unfamiliar digital audiences.

Purpose of the role
To be a key member of the senior leadership team, working collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer and senior leadership team to set and deliver the overall fundraising and marketing strategy. To lead and develop a high performing fundraising and marketing team. Grow income generation to enable Race Against Dementia to achieve ambitious future aims.
Duties and Resonsiblities
- Work with the Chief Executive Officer and board of Trustees to set and agree the vision and direction for significant UK income generation for the charity.
- Deliver the agreed strategy for fundraising, marketing and stakeholder engagement.
- Manage and deepen the charity’s relationships with key funders, partners and stakeholders, working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Chair of Trustees as appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to develop new relationships with individual donors, corporates, trusts and foundations and other potential income streams.
- Provide inspirational leadership, support and management to a small fundraising and marketing team.
- Build on current systems and processes to maximise the efficiency of the fundraising and marketing team and deliver best in class donor relationship management.
- Identify opportunities to elevate the profile of the charity in the UK and build reputation.
- Own the brand and tone of voice for the organisation. Deepen brand visibility through paid campaigns, digital and social channels, content marketing and communications activity.
- Support the team with day-to-day digital and social media content to retain and build the online community.
- Work closely with the Chief Executive Officer to develop a fundraising budget and monitor progress against targets. Present progress regularly to the Trustees.
- To be an active member of the senior leadership team, supporting overall team culture and moral.
- To attend, where appropriate national and international events organised by the charity, including an annual Forum.
- To administer your own workload, including meeting targets and deadlines in line with the Race Against Dementia appraisal system.

About You
- Proven track record of acquiring new major donors and partners and raising funds of over £1million for a non-profit organisation.
- Significant experience managing existing major donors, corporate partners and other key relationships.
- Extensive experience in developing and implementing creative marketing strategies and experience of planning and overseeing targeted campaigns across a range of platforms.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal with the ability to communicate information to management and charity Trustees.
- Experience working with senior leadership and boards of Trustees.
- A good understanding of wider charitable sector considerations and fundraising regulations.

Job Purpose:
Pelican Parcels has grown from supporting 500 children in our first year, to now helping over 5,700 annually. We have been able to grow at this incredible rate due to the amazing people and organisations across Brighton and Hove. Our fundraising pipeline is overflowing, and our network of supporters continues to grow each year.
We now need to bring in an enthusiastic fundraiser to work alongside our experienced volunteers and trustees, helping us strengthen and grow these relationships.
The Fundraising Manager will implement our fundraising plan. We have been successful in securing all funds needed for 2024/25, so this role will:

PELICAN PARCELS FUNDRAISING MANAGER
Role: Fundraising Manager
Reports to: Shelley Bennett, Co-Founder & Trustee
Contract: Permanent. PAYE.
Salary: £21,000 per annum (£35,000 FTE)
Holidays: pro rata 20 days annually plus bank holidays, plus Christmas office closure e.g., in 2025 this will be an extra 4 days
Review Period: 3 months Notice Period: 2 months
Location: This role will work in a hybrid way. We are based in a warehouse in the centre of Hove, next to Hove Station and expect you to be able to come to the office once a week.
Hours: part-time 3 days a week. We are flexible about working patterns within the week (agreed 1 month in advance). There will be the possibility of working outside standard hours when agreed in advance e.g. open warehouse event, donor cultivation, community fundraising events.

ABOUT US
Pelican Parcels (PP) works in Brighton & Hove to recycle pre-loved essential items for babies and primary school aged children. We take them from families who no longer need them and give them to those who do. We are the only baby bank in the city. In 5 years, we have supported over 20,000 children aged 0-12 as well as pregnant mothers, reflecting the high level of need and deprivation in our city.
In 2023 our 5,774 parcels (an increase of 136% in the last 3 years)

Foodbanks: distributed c.20k nappies & 39 tubs of formula, supporting 605 children

Beds: we give out moses baskets, cots & single beds, blanket & sleeping bag sets & bedding bundles. We are giving out over 5 beds a week.

Books: in November we began supporting nurseries to give out books to pre-school children, supplying 248 books.
We collect items, receive referrals and distribute them to those in need

Collect: We have regular open sessions where people drop off items. Our 29 volunteers sort and organise donations ready for redistribution.

Referral: Once referrals and requests for items are received from partners, our volunteers process and package them.

Distribution: Our parcels are distributed by our partners at scheduled visits, through children's centres, foodbanks, schools and charity networks. Partners collect the parcels from our warehouse or we take them to their places of work.

Our Fundraising Plans
Funding has been achieved so far from diverse sources including Brighton and Hove City Council, individuals (from a few pounds to thousands), a range of trusts and foundations and companies.
We now wish to grow our fundraising programme in response to the demand we are seeing to help more families.
Our income has continued to grow. In 2022/2023 income was £90k, up from £38k in just 2 years. We raised £190k in 2023/2024 and have already raised over £220k for 2024/25.
We know we need to continue to grow to meet demand for our service. We need a bigger warehouse (we have plans to move in early 2025) and additional staff soon afterwards. We have built up reserves to support 3 months of operations costs and the warehouse move of £117k.
We plan to grow our turnover to £250k by 2026/2027. We have already secured 25% of what is needed for 25/26 and 20% for 26/27.
ROLE BACKGROUND
Our trustees Carla Pannett and Lucy Stone take the lead on fundraising for the Charity. Carla and Lucy will continue to support this work and role.
Lucy leads on Trusts and Foundation relationships alongside Brighton and Hove City Council funding applications. We feel confident with our level of work and growth in these areas. We have a number of multiple year funders confirmed, a range of funders who fund annually following applications and a pipeline of new trusts.

We have just completed a crowdfunding campaign in August 2024. £42,198 + Gift Aid (so far) has been raised during the ‘Children in Brighton & Hove need your help’ crowdfunder. It has been a smashing success due to 192 supporters, raising our profile across the city and beyond. This was a mix of trusts and foundation, individual and corporate giving. We want to ensure that we make the most of relationships developed during the crowdfunder.

Principal Accountabilities

Work closely with Pelican Parcels’ Co-founder Shelley Bennett, our Head of Operations, volunteers and Board of Trustees to maintain and create an engaging fundraising programme.

Sitting within the Supporter Led Fundraising (SLF) department, the Regional Fundraising Team at Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) is responsible for recruiting, stewarding and motivating individuals, companies and community groups to raise £3m per year.
The team consists of 12 home based Regional Fundraising Officers (RFO’s). As one of three Community Fundraising Managers (CFM) you will be responsible for the line management of approx. 4-5 members of the team alongside the management of one of our income streams – either Regional Corporate, Community Groups or DIY.
Reporting into the Head of Regional Fundraising, you will work closely with senior stakeholders within ARUK and be required to play a key role in the implementation of the ARUK 10-year strategy and supporting on the development of the fundraising strategy.
You will work closely with the other CFMs and the SLF Managers Group to ensure consistency with supporter stewardship, manage budgets and support in financial planning, review team capacity and identify and manage priorities throughout the year, ensuring efficiency and a first-class supporter experience. Your overall goal will be helping drive our ambitious organisation growth and ultimately helping us find a cure.
Due to the nature of this role, we will require you to attend our Granta Park office, near Cambridge, one day per week, plus travel to meet the team and attend external meetings/events.
This is a 12-month fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Line Management
· Line management of the high performing remote Regional Fundraising Officers; inspiring and driving their success to ensure they remain highly motivated in their roles, achieve their targets and play a key part in the performance of the wider team. As well as 1-1’s and personal growth reviews.
· You will monitor, review, and empower direct reports to ensure effective communication across the wider team and with key stakeholders e.g. Volunteering, Corporate Team, Sporting Events Team, Gifts in Wills Team, Supporter Care Team, Supporter Engagement Team and others.
· Alongside the other CFMs you will be responsible for planning and delivering in person team meetings approx. 5 times per year – these are key meetings to bring the team together and share plans and ideas in addition to ensuring that the remote based team are meeting with and hearing from key internal teams.
Income streams
You will be responsible for one of the following:
· DIY Income Stream Ownership - Writing and delivering the strategy for the current income stream and bringing in ambitious growth to £2.5m over the next year.
· Community Groups Income Stream - Writing and delivering the strategy for the income stream and identifying areas of growth
· Regional Corporate Income Stream - Writing and delivering the strategy for the Regional Corporate income stream and identifying areas of growth
Monitoring and Reporting
· An immediate responsibility for this role is the implementation of the new CRM database (Salesforce). You will need to dedicate time to understating and supporting the implementation, ensuring that it works for the team and that the team are utilising it according to business process and its implementation allows for maximum benefit to the team and all areas of fundraising
· Manage the team’s income and expenditure budget, including monthly reporting, and supporting with monthly reforecasts, and annual budget and operational plan setting.
· Review supporter numbers and income against DIY targets to track impact, ROI and cost income ratio and report back regularly.
· Ensure the fundraising CRM is being used effectively to facilitate accurate supporter stewardship and financial reporting, data segmentation and analysis.
· Use data insights and trends to support the team in budgeting, forecasting and mitigation plans.
· Lead on the build, development and use of Power BI Reporting across DIY and other income streams.
· Continue to review and be willing to change team processes and contribute to wider organisational process changes where necessary.
Relationship Management
· Build and maintain excellent working relationships with agencies, platform providers and event delivery companies to identify new opportunities and ensure all avenues are being optimised for ARUK.
· Work with the Sporting Events Managers to create a process to identify and steward high-value event participants to add value to their fundraising and ensure we are spotting opportunities beyond their current event.
· Work closely with the Marketing & Engagement Team to brief in marketing requirements, share trends, learnings, and results to optimise future activities.
· Work closely with managers from SLF Departments to support on the strategic direction of ARUK, prioritise work and any conflicts across teams, as well as deliver any tactical projects, new processes and ways of working.
Strategy & Operational Planning
· Work in consultation with the Head of Regional Fundraising to develop the regional fundraising strategy and annual tactical plan for ARUK to continue to build income growth in line with organisational objectives.
· Stay abreast of sector activity and actively participate in sector wide forums.
Stewardship and Supporter experience
· Plan and deliver an excellent communications journey for DIY participants and regional supporters including exploring new technologies and how we can talk to our supporters in the way most effective and relevant to them - whether that be email, phone, face to face, through social channels. Whilst also ensuring it aligns with wider stewardship goals and future cross-sell asks.
· Work with the wider SLF team to share best practice, ‘surprise and delight’ success and re-engagement activity to help drive long-term loyalty.
· Work with Philanthropy and Direct Marketing Teams to build on the Mid Value Donor programme.
· Work alongside Data and Insights Teams to understand the potential lifetime value of our supporters and ensure opportunities are developed for supporters to hold a long-term fundraising relationship with ARUK.
What we are looking for:
· Line Management experience.
· Great knowledge and passion for building excellent supporter relationships and ensuring supporters feel valued and thanked appropriately.
· Good experience and knowledge of digital marketing strategies with a focus on supporter acquisition.
· Experience in creating supporter journeys.
· Proven track record of meeting or exceeding financial and non-financial targets.
· Good practice and understanding of GDPR and compliance.
· Adept at utilising data strategically for decision-making and achieving organisational goals and using analytics to identify trends and optimise donor engagement.
· Strong financial management and budgeting skills.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
· An ability to manage a busy and varied workload.
· Skilled at building excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
· A positive and contagious enthusiasm to inspire others.
· An approachable team player who is always seeking opportunities for collaboration.
· An interest in data analysis and financial aptitude.
· Flexibility to work unsociable hours and willingness to travel.

Ways of working: As part of our Remote ways of working you will be home based. You will only need to attend the office for specific requirements of the role and the business needs.
Roles that are classed as part of the Remote ways of working are able to claim any costs for Mileage/Travel on Public Transport, Accommodation and/or Meals. This includes when attending the office for various meetings/events.
