The Role

The purpose of the Communication and Events Officer role is to:

• Communicate National Voices’ all relevant organisational output to members, decision makers, external influencers and media, including policy, improvement, lived experience and insight work.
• Assist the organisation to plan, develop and deliver content and logistics for our operations teams’ internal event commitments, including supporting on the Annual General Meeting, board events and staff team days etc.
• Work with voluntary sector organisations and people with the greatest health and care needs to develop National Voices’ communications positions and deliver against funded project work

The role will be a mix of communications and internal events work, with 75% of the role focused on communications.

Responsibilities

Deliver on our communications work

· Develop engaging content that conveys National Voices messages to members, external stakeholders, and media (including managing the day to day running of social media platforms) to maximise the reach and impact of the organisation’s policy messages and funded project work

· Support the Policy and Communications Manager with media relations activity by drafting media statements, liaising with journalists and other media activity as required

· Create National Voices’ membership content, including member newsletters and member blogs

· Oversee and manage process of external design of National Voices reports with designer

· Manage the comms and events calendar and work with internal and external team to schedule project releases and other events

· Support the maintenance of National Voices’ website, keeping the site up to date and coordinating input and content from National Voices staff and members.

· Coordinate the production of key publications, from liaising with partner organisations to overseeing design and production

· Communications administrative tasks including developing and maintaining press list, tracking press coverage and social media analytics data

· Support operation team’s internal comms around job postings, organisational policy changes, and office announcement.

Support the operations team internal events programme

· Work across the organisation to support our internal events programme including leading on some events. This includes support on logistics like venue booking, arranging catering and providing technical support.  

· Support the creation and development of materials for events and presentations.

· Support in the organisation of our Annual General Meeting and board events where needed.

· Work with the team to lead on staff social events.

· Provide ad hoc support to the operations team as required.

General

· Take a pro-active approach to including our members and people with lived experience in all areas of our work.

· Support the senior team in identifying potential new members and funding opportunities where possible.

· Follow processes set out to measure, monitor and communicate the impact of our work.

· Support good project, financial and data management.

· Contribute to the team’s planning activities and undertake other relevant duties as appropriate.

· Deputise for other members of the team when needed.

· Check the post when in the office and flag important notices with relevant members of staff.

Our approach to hybrid working

We recognise the importance of coming together regularly, in-person, as a team, so we can share learnings and spend social time with each other. We also recognise that people need flexibility, and that homeworking enables focused work and can fit well in people’s lives.

We ask all staff to take part in pre-arranged team meetings which take place every six weeks in our office space. We also might ask you to meet in-person with members of your team from time to time, or to be available for face-to-face meetings with clients and partners where this enhances the work.

We assume that this would usually not amount to more than one day per fortnight for people who work full time.

As Challenge Events Officer, you will be responsible for recruiting and supporting participants in a variety of fundraising events – from marathons to skydives – to raise vital funds for disabled children and young people. Using your skills in marketing, social media, and event planning, you'll drive participation and help meet ambitious income targets. Evening and weekend work may be required as part of this dynamic, rewarding role

You’ll also maintain detailed and accurate records, manage reporting requirements, and actively champion the Challengers Approach, grounded in the Social Model of Disability.

Purpose of Post:

The Marketing & Communications Officer will be responsible for the administration and co-ordination of consistent marketing and communications messages and activities, promotions, exhibitions, PR campaigns, social media, digital/website content, uphold brand integrity, which enhances and grows the reputation and awareness of IMO Charity.

The Marketing and Communications Officer will play a key role in supporting the Business Development Manager to manage the ‘public face’ of IMO Charity. A prime area of responsibility will be to work with the Business Development Manager and other team members in delivering contractual obligations and impact reporting associated with marketing and communications across all projects.

The officer will support the IMO Charity team by inputting and contributing towards the activities and development of tenders, grant applications, market research, membership support, data analysis, events and any other activities required to achieve IMO Charity marketing objectives.

We are a delivery organisation providing frontline educational services for young people. The Role

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust had an income of £4.7m in year ending March 2024, and this has grown again in the last 12 months. To push ahead with the Trust’s vital work to restore the natural environment across Staffordshire, and to meet the strategic goals by 2030, the Trust needs to increase its revenue substantially.

You’ll be leading a dedicated fundraising and communications team currently made up of 10 staff but set to grow. This position is a new one, and one of the key recommendations of a fundraising research assignment conducted at the end of 2024. 

The Head of Fundraising and Development will report to the Chief Executive and be a member of the Senior Leadership Team. 

Key tasks include:

• Develop and implement a five-year fundraising strategy

• Develop a fundraising culture across the Trust 

• Co-develop bottom-up, evidence-led income forecasts with your team and relevant Senior Leadership Team members

• Take overall responsibility for all fundraising

• Oversee the exploration of new income generating opportunities 

• Oversee the management of all fundraising systems/processes (fundraising database and financial information)

• Be responsible for all internal and external communications

• Embed a culture of high performance amongst the team. 

About You

The Head of Fundraising and Development role is a unique opportunity for an ambitious and innovative fundraising professional to develop and deliver a comprehensive fundraising strategy. You will be an effective leader, comfortable delegating authority in areas where you have less expertise to the experts in your team.

An inspiring leader, you will have exceptional people management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.  You should be willing to work flexibly as your team requires it, this may involve working at events outside of normal hours to support your team.

You will have experience of:

• Growing voluntary income in charities across a range of channels

• Successful fundraising across grants (charitable trusts, the National Lottery and Landfill Communities Funding), companies, individual giving, major donors and legacies

• Managing membership schemes and an understanding of generating income from Trading activities would be an advantage

• Change management, and an understanding that sustainable change requires taking people with you, and that this requires consultation, patience, flexibility and adaptability

• Developing, implementing and evaluating strategy across a range of income streams will be business as usual for you.

Your experience should be heavily-weighted towards fundraising rather than communications, although an understanding of communications and how it supports fundraising, is essential.

The approach was co-designed with young people from the start and is centred around a groupwork approach. It supports young people to move into properties that become their homes whilst also building a strong and supportive friendship network.

NHP supports Local Authorities to establish Local House Projects (LHPs) and put young people at the centre of the decision-making processes Once an LHP has been established it supports staff to work with young people in an inclusive way, encouraging them to find the solutions to the challenges they face. LHPs enable young people to leave care in a planned and supported way, their outcomes are improved, and staff develop a way of working that is relationship based and psychologically informed.

To ensure that young people are involved at every level of the organisation each LHP elects two young people to represent them at the Care Leavers National Movement (CLNM). This forum provides the platform to hear, amplify and act on the voice of young people, who not only support the development of their own LHP but also contribute to developing practice and policy at a national level. CLNM meets regularly, undertakes Peer Evaluations, hosts and delivers their own National Conference and provides an ‘expert user’ consultancy.  Members from this group also sit on the Board of Trustees as expert advisors.

We are looking for someone who is motivated and experienced in working with young people and excited by the thought of working directly with young people and supporting them to have their voices heard and acted upon.

Many people go into youth work and social work to do just that but find that the systems that sit around large organisations inhibit the difference that can be made. At NHP you will be able to use your energy and enthusiasm to work in a creative way, enabling young people to use their care experience to make a positive difference to the way in which those systems support them.  You will work with CLNM as well as the core NHP team to ensure that young people continue to drive our work at both a local and national level.

You will need to have a professional/academic qualification in a related field eg Youth Work, Social Work, Education, Health. Current registration with a professional body is desirable.
