As Trust Funding Officer, you will independently deliver excellent account management and stewardship to a portfolio of existing donors, contributing to our goals of sustaining and increasing income from trusts and foundations. Scope
As a charity the RHN has to raise over £3.4M in voluntary income each year to pay for vital therapies and services that improve the quality of life experienced by people with severe or complex disabilities caused by brain injury. This includes a chaplaincy service, music therapy, therapeutic art, leisure and family services, assistive technology, research, medical equipment and capital refurbishment projects.
The Trusts & Major Gifts Team has annual income responsibility of £1M; the Legacy Team has annual income responsibility for £1M; the Events Team has annual income responsibility for £230kk from event and £75k from Corporate fundraising; the Donor Development Team has annual income responsibility of £550k.
The Trusts and Foundations Officer will work with the Senior Trusts Fundraiser and the Trusts and Major Gifts Manager to generate income though grant giving organisations. As a member of a small fundraising team, there is also a requirement to help with other ad hoc fundraising activities, in particular helping with events when necessary. In order to fulfil the role and understand nature of the hospital, it is required to work on site the majority of the time, with flexibility around hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect Research - To conduct prospect research into appropriate trusts & foundations to identify new support for the RHN, and to and carry out suitable research on trusts and trustees using the internet and secondary research sources.
- Planning – Carry out extensive income planning and preparation ahead of each new financial year, including application planning using Excel to chart monthly applications, amounts sought and estimated response dates.Assist the Trusts and Major Gifts Manager to prepare the Fundraising Team’s projected income ahead of each new financial year. Take ownership of, understand, rationalise, and where necessary, adapt how the post holder’s personal income target is to be achieved.
- Annual Trusts Mailing, collating and checking the list of recipients, writing funder updates, administering the mailing, acknowledging all gifts and documenting all correspondence or Raiser’s Edge, relevant spreadsheets and electronic files.
- Administration – Ensure that records are regularly updated to reflect fundraising activity on Raiser’s Edge; use spreadsheets to record planned applications, projected income and secured income. Keep records of all donor correspondence on Raiser’s Edge and electronic files.
- Information gathering - To have an updated and working knowledge of funding requirements for the RHN which have been budgeted for and develop an understanding of how gifts for special purposes are allocated.
- Events – To support the wider team in hosting and preparation for events. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Best Practice - To adhere to best practice in prospect cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, and ensure that the appropriate ethical policies and practices of the RHN are followed.
- Relationship Development – to ensure effective and co-operative relationships are established and maintained with donors and also internal staff, volunteers and senior volunteers.
Essential skills
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of fundraising best practice, with at least 12 months experience in trusts fundraising and a proven track record of developing a trusts pipeline and securing funds.
- Possess an energetic, pro-active, ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Good IT skills with experience of using Microsoft Office, and preferably a fundraising database such as Raiser’s Edge.
- Experience of using research tools to acquire information about existing and prospective funders. Excellent prospect research and profile creation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills – relationship building and networking skills to develop and nurture donor relationships. Ability to establish rapport with a diverse range of people.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and financially numerate.
- Organised approach to work – proactive, good and methodical administrative skills, with good planning and time-management. Ability to prioritise and think work well under pressure.

The United Kingdom (UK) plays a significant role in global terrestrial and marine conservation efforts. In addition to being a major provider of public and private funding and a vocal actor on issues of international policy, it is a source, transit and destination point for illegally traded wildlife. IFAW has a long record of accomplishment working on prominent issues in the UK and has developed a large, loyal and generous supporter base in the country with positive brand recognition.
Working under the direction of the Director Policy & Advocacy Europe, the Sr. Program Officer will be responsible for the implementation of IFAW’s global programmatic strategies in the UK region. Consolidating and building on previous progress, the focus will be primarily on combatting wildlife crime, engaging relevant national stakeholders across policy, enforcement, civil society, private sector, and academic sectors.
The Sr. Program Officer will work collaboratively with global staff to ensure alignment with IFAW program priorities, leveraging IFAW’s networks and expertise worldwide to achieve success.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter able to deliver under their own initiative while balancing the need to work within an international team, ideally with experience in a government department or agency, or a non-profit organization, preferably within a global structure.
With a strong background in program delivery, policy development and a good understanding of influencing and delivering change within parliamentary and government processes, this candidate will be articulate and politically aware and able to build out effective engagement strategies. Role and Responsibilities
· Work collaboratively with UK and global staff to deliver IFAW’s global program goals in the UK, with an initial focus on IFAW’s wildlife crime program.
· Develop the strategy and operational plans for policy advocacy, program implementation and research within the framework of IFAW’s global programs and policies, ensuring that budgets, targets, and performance indicators are set and work monitored, evaluated, and reported effectively within the organisation’s reporting mechanisms.
· Proactively identify, assess, and respond to all relevant developments within public policy, capitalizing upon opportunities to push IFAW’s priority policy calls and achieve positive changes in policy and legislation, ensuring IFAWs global policies and approaches to conservation and animal rescue are represented adequately in UK politics and key institutions.
· Build and maintain relationships with policymakers and stakeholders in law enforcement, academia, private sector (where relevant) and civil society organisations.
· Support the IFAW’s fundraising teams, when relevant, with the development of the UKs institutional grant funding portfolios and major giving opportunities, including developing pitches and undertaking face-to-face meetings with potential supporters.
· Work with the UK communications team to support media strategies around IFAW’s programmatic work, acting as a media spokesperson where appropriate.
· Manage budgets relating to programmatic activities.
· Ensure effective internal communication on UK program implementation and successes.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· At least 5 years of relevant experience, in areas such as nonprofit management, wildlife conservation, policy development and advocacy, project and financial management, stakeholder engagement.
· Demonstrated experience of successful political engagement on difficult issues, with a track record of skillfully navigating parliamentary structures and government decision-making to achieve political or governmental support.
· Strong network of political and governmental contacts and knowledge of policy and legislation development within the UK.
· Good knowledge of what wildlife crime entails, and who the key actors are that aim to combat wildlife crime, is highly desired. Specific expertise in wildlife cyber-enabled crime a bonus. Strong knowledge of species identification and CITES are a bonus as is experience in issues around transparency and tackling corruption.
· Proven track record of program delivery, working within dispersed and multidisciplinary teams. Experience of working in a global organisation, within a matrix model is preferable. Experience of commissioning research or working with academic institutions a plus.
· A resourceful problem-solver, with strong critical thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment, prioritize tasks, and work well under pressure.
· Proven ability to work effectively through networks and coalitions to achieve change and to communicate constructively with partners and funders and fulfill their reporting requirements.
· Culturally sensitive, proven record of accomplishment of working with diverse, multi-cultural teams. Effective communication skills, including listening skills.
· Experience of public speaking to reach a diverse range of audiences and/or being a media spokesperson,

We are seeking a Research Funding Officer (Research Impact) to work mainly on our Research Grant Programme. As part of our Research Funding team, you will support high quality and innovative research on the effects of diet, nutrition, physical activity, and body size on cancer prevention and survival, managing an international portfolio of projects and working closely with leading researchers around the world.
In addition to the Research Grant programme, you will have the opportunity to contribute to other Research Funding activities such as our Academy programme and work closely with colleagues across the Science department and with other departments such as PR & Editorial and Fundraising.
The Research Funding Officer (Research Impact) will work mainly on the post award phase (e.g. active monitoring of funded projects, liaison with our grant holders, supporting our Academy programme initiative and evaluation of the impact of our funded research).
You will have experience working in a fast-paced research environment, whether in academia or research administration/management. Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills are essential for engaging a diverse range of audiences. Additionally, you should possess a solid understanding of statistical analysis. A Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or Nutrition is required, while a Master’s degree is preferred but not essential. An interest in science communication and social media is also desirable.

First Step is a Charity based in the London Borough of Havering, that for over 36 years has supported more than 1,700 families and their children.
Families are referred or self-refer to us at a moment of crisis or uncertainty, normally pre-diagnosis, fearing all is not well with their child. We provide an array of family-centric services tailored to each family’s and child’s needs.
We are looking for a Centre Manager to take over from our current postholder who has been with the charity for over 27 years as both volunteer and staff member and will play an active part of inducting and handing over and to the successful candidate.
The person we are looking for is a unique blend of heart and mind, who is committed to ensure that every person that comes into contact with First Step feels welcomed and is treated with dignity and respect. They also need to ensure that First Step operates in a professional, organised, and effective manner.
You will be a friendly, capable and professional leader who is able to provide support and nurturing to a small team of staff and volunteers. You will be passionate about working with the children and their families in sometimes challenging situations. You will have a good understanding of safeguarding and be able to juggle workloads.
The postholder is responsible for overseeing all day to day front of house and administrative functions of First Step and it will be a hands-on role. They will develop and maintain effective and efficient business systems across the organisation to ensure best value for the children and families we support.

This role is in the High Value Relationships Team, reporting to the head of the team and leading on developing and embedding Mencap’s prospect research strategy to ensure a steady flow of prospects into the High Value pipeline. As part of the role, you will undertake research to identify new major donors, trusts and influencers as well as managing your own small portfolio of prospects. Mencap will support your development and training to manage and solicit gifts and become a vital part of the philanthropy team and in development and cultivation of the major donor programme.
To be successful in the role of Prospect Research Officer, you will need:
- Demonstrable experience in research, and clear understanding of how prospect research should be used to drive fundraising
- Strong written skills that would allow you to write compelling funding applications and proposals
- Proven experience of using data management, with strong IT skills

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Park Management Team and support the general running and maintenance of the Trust's estate and be responsible for delivering all tree related works - whether for safety reasons, as part of our Woodland Management Plan, or in response to arboricultural diseases. The role will also play a key part in helping the Trust plan for the future by enhancing Nene Park for people and for wildlife, as well as reducing its carbon footprint.
This is very much a practical role, with the post holder directly involved in all aspects of forestry operations on the ground, as well as planning for and dealing with contractors on site.
The role will encompass a variety of tasks including but not limited to the following:
- Leading and coordinating arboricultural operations, tree surveys and tree related safety inspections.
- Carrying out and supervising tree works internally as well as those conducted by the Trust's specialist external tree contractors.
- Ranger duties to ensure the Park is well-managed and maintained, conserving its important heritage and ensuring it provides a welcoming environment for Park visitors
In addition, the ideal candidate will naturally demonstrate the following characteristics:
- Self-motivated and willing to take the lead in their area of specialism, whilst being able to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to manage own time and workload effectively
- Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with diverse groups of people
- Ability to work safely in a high risk environment
This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours a week, with some weekend and evening work. The role is based at our head offices in Ferry Meadows – Ham Farm House, Ham Lane, Peterborough, PE2 5UU and involves working anywhere across the Trust’s estate.
The salary range for this role is £35,353 - £37,121 per annum subject to experience. All of our salaries are externally benchmarked.
