The Woodland Trust is looking for a Volunteer Development Officer in our South West region to deliver on the volunteering strategy for the Woodland Trust and South West region.

The Role: 
•    This is a key role in the South West region Communication & Engagement team which works with other Volunteer Development Officers across the Trust to help deliver on the volunteering strategy for the region.
•    The role will support compliance including record keeping, induction and training, as well as develop new opportunities based on regional priorities and deliver a range of communication and face to face activities to create a safe and positive volunteering experience.
•    You will run a range of activity to develop effective communication methods including writing articles, delivering events, supporting peer to peer support and shared learning so volunteers are engaged and feel valued.  
•    You are responsible for being the link between the National Volunteering Team and regional volunteer managers to ensure that managers feel supported and volunteers have a meaningful, safe and enjoyable experience. 
•    You will lead on regional recruitment of existing and new roles, in line with regional priorities to ensure volunteer roles are appropriate and support the needs of the Woodland Trust. 
•    This role is based in South West England and will require the successful candidate to travel around the region.
•    This is a 3 year fixed term contract, including evening and weekend work.
•    This role may require an enhanced DBS check as part of our pre-employment checks.

•    Hands on experience working with volunteers and volunteer managers including recruitment, training and managing volunteers with positive outcomes.
•    Experience in working across a range of teams at a regional level to support existing and develop new volunteering opportunities, ensuring the support of volunteering to undertake activities in a positive, fun and safe way. 
•    You’ll have experience in developing new volunteering opportunities in line with regional and national strategies.
•    You’ll have a collaborative approach, with the ability to work with multiple teams, building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders effectively. 
•    You’ll know how to deliver effective events including promotion, risk assessments for indoor and outdoor environments.
•    Strong communication skills, both written and verbally being able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, especially volunteers using a variety of methods to suite the audience. 
•    This role does require regular travel around the South West region. A full UK driving licence is required.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Fundraising Manager to join our small and dynamic team during an exciting period of growth for the organisation. This newly created role will be a crucial role in developing and implementing fundraising strategies to support our mission and ensure the financial sustainability of the Charity.

Job summary

Malaria No More UK is looking to appoint a Head of Strategy & Policy to cover a period of maternity leave starting from end April 2025.  This an exciting role that sits at the heart of the organisation and will join at a crucial time in the malaria fight with the Global Fund’s 8th replenishment taking place later this year. The role works across both our UK and International campaign streams, leading the execution and development of research, building strong evidence-based arguments, supporting with integrated advocacy and communications campaign strategies that deliver on the impact as set out in MNMUK’s strategy and providing relevant and up to date expertise on the global health and malaria policy landscape.

The role leads and oversees the implementation of MNMUK’s ‘integrated’ campaigning approach ensuring that MNMUK’s campaigning is built on political opportunity, is technically relevant and is driven by the right evidence and audience insights to engage target public audiences and political leaders behind the malaria fight. The role reports directly to the Executive Director of Advocacy & Strategy and manages a Policy Officer in support of this vital work.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with significant experience of working in a relevant policy or strategy role to deliver change.

Core work will include:

· Lead the effective delivery and execution of our international research project- managing the research consultant and working closely with the international workstream, the media team and external partners to deliver impactful research for advocacy and media in support of the Global fund’s 8th replenishment (May to September 2025)

· Oversee and support the Policy Officer to deliver our UK science report, research and media outputs ahead of the UK’s spending review (May-June 2025)

· Support the Philanthropy and Partnerships team in developing key grant proposals and strategic partnerships (ongoing)

Key responsibilities include:

• To lead MNMUK’s research and evidence work, ensuring that the organisation’s decision making and campaigning are informed by the best available evidence.

Qualifications, skills and experience

Essential

· Strong and significant advocacy experience/ability to demonstrate both strong policy analysis skills and political acumen

You will manage relationships with all key stakeholders in the programme including brands, suppliers, audit bodies and external stakeholders. Who you are:

• An experienced project manager with an in-depth understanding of the UK apparel and general merchandise sectors and experience managing relations with a variety of stakeholders

• A great organiser, with the ability to set and meet demanding targets and deadlines, and to hold others accountable to those

Role Summary & Responsibilities

We are looking for an Operational Delivery Manager, to join our exceptional team and lead our frontline service delivery team of Youth Workers, counsellors and practitioners, to deliver a tangible impact to our young carers. It’s an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking for a stretching role working alongside the CEO and frontline staff, while liaising with the rest of our Be Free team to provide delivery figures and budget reports.

We are looking for someone who is unsatisfied with the status quo of young carers in Oxfordshire, who will constantly strive for better outcomes for them. They will love working as part of a team and be a people person, confident to give presentations and build relationship with funders and community heads. 

Job Title: Operational Delivery Manager

Salary Range: £34,000 pa (subject to standard BFYC April pay review)

Hours: 37.50 hours a week

Summary

• 1,200 rental properties located throughout England
• Community Living (sheltered housing type accommodation with additional facilities) homes in 7 schemes across England

• A Basic DBS check will be required as part of the onboarding check.
• You will need to have an appropriate professional qualification (e.g. RICS/CIOB/IET/IMechE or similar) or construction-related qualification (e.g. HND in construction, or degree) with relevant construction-related experience.
• You will also need to have a valid UK driving license.
• Our properties are located throughout England, with a few in Wales. You will be required to visit residents in their homes and supervising the works of contractors and consultants will require meetings on site. This means you will need to work flexibly and on occasion, may require overnight stays away from home. Our main office is in central London and you will need to attend the office for in-person meetings, training courses and other events on an at least monthly basis.  

• A salary of £68,999 per annum plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.

Salary: We offer a competitive salary and benefits package that considers the cost of living in the country of employment. The salary for this role will be circa £50,608.89 per year (Band B) pro rata based on our Global Salary Scale adjusted for cost of living according to your location and paid in your local currency.  As an illustration, the full-time equivalent salary in the following locations is:

• Hungary - Ft13,692,430 (HUF)

• Australia - $95,718.14 (AUD)

Hours: 21-35 hours (3-5 days) per week. You will have some flexibility about when you work your hours, and we have some required team meeting commitments.

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced project manager interested in the deliberative democracy field to deliver selection and stratification services to customers, to enable the recruitment and selection of participants for deliberative democratic processes to take place at all levels of government & society. As a project manager, you will be responsible for ensuring a smooth journey for our customers and a high quality of service delivery. 

Key Responsibilities

• Liaise with clients to manage selection and stratification services for their projects, and advise them on good practice.

• Co-ordinate the design, printing and postage of invitation materials.

• Use software tools to generate addresses by lottery.

• Create web forms (using a CMS) for potential participants to register their interest.

• Create spreadsheets and back-end processes to enable selection of participants by lottery for events.

• Answer questions from people interested in taking part in processes.

• Use software to select participants by lottery.

• Coordinate with our calls teams to confirm the attendance of selected participants by phone, and replace any who drop out.

• Prepare reports for clients.

• Work closely with other members of the delivery team to support each other.

• Keep abreast of best practice in sortition and deliberative democracy in our sector.

• Participating in and contributing to a Working Group (to be decided together).

Essential skills and experience

• An ability to self-motivate, work flexibly within small teams and on your own initiative.

• Experience in managing projects independently.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, facilitating clear and effective exchanges in English.

• Confident in using spreadsheets, formulas and software tools: at least 2 years’ experience using Excel/Google Sheets in an advanced manner.

• Ability to understand demographics and statistics.

Desirable skills and experience:

There are some additional roles and skill sets that we would be interested in identifying in applicants, but which do not form the core part of the project manager role and are therefore not essential. We do not expect applicants to have any or all of these desirable skills. 

• Familiarity with sortition and deliberative democracy.

• Strong networking and collaboration skills, with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships, engage diverse stakeholders, and represent the organisation at conferences and events.

• Technical sales.

• Data analysis.

• Software development, including Python, JavaScript, Google Apps Script, HTML, Liquid, and NationBuilder templates, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and optimise workflows through coding solutions.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to integrate technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, self-motivated and independent; everyone works from home with substantial freedom to choose their own hours.

The Sortition Foundation is a not-for-profit company that exists to transform politics and upgrade democracy. We recruit people from all walks of life for citizens’ assemblies in the UK, Australia, Europe, and around the world, with clients including national governments, local governments, cultural, technology and other organisations. In the last few years, citizens’ assemblies have become commonplace in many countries (UK, Australia, Canada, Ireland, Poland) and spread to many more, such as France, Spain, Austria, Germany, Belgium, among others. A regional parliament in Belgium created a permanent citizens’ assembly - the first of its kind in Europe - and we are seeing local councils in the UK and Australia follow suit.

While this represents considerable success, there is still much work and campaigning to do. We want to see citizens’ assemblies become more prevalent, for them to become a permanent feature of our democracies, and we understand that for this to happen we need more people, organisations and decision makers to know about and advocate for these assemblies.

In recent years the Sortition Foundation:

• Supported nearly 200 citizens’ assemblies and other sortition events in the UK, Australia, Hungary, and elsewhere, sending hundreds of thousands of assembly invitations to households, and recruiting thousands of people for deliberative processes. Some examples include Scotland’s Climate Assembly, the Budapest Climate Assembly, a citizens’ jury on assisted dying in Jersey, the UK government’s Public Advisory Group on COVID-19, and many community panels in Australia for councils in Victoria. 

• Developed a network of democracy organisations campaigning for the institutionalisation of citizens’ assemblies; we have an ongoing campaign to replace the House of Lords with a House of Citizens, have developed and tested messaging and framing guides for communicating our campaign goals, and have laid the groundwork for this transformative democratic change.

• Reviewed and refreshed our strategy and structure to get clear on what we can hope to achieve with the resources we can wield in the best possible organisational structure.

• Grew our annual turnover dramatically, from almost zero turnover six years ago, to over £624,000 in the last financial year.

We achieved all this thanks to our growing and dedicated staff; our continued partnerships with organisations including the Electoral Reform Society, Unlock Democracy, and Involve in the UK, and DemocracyCo in Australia; our ongoing participation in the Democracy R&D International Network.
