About the Role

As our Senior HR Business Partner, you will shape and deliver HR strategies that align with our mission and business objectives.

Working closely with leaders, key stakeholders and HR colleagues, you will ensure the development of people solutions that prioritise equality, diversity and inclusion while supporting the ongoing transformation of services.

In addition to providing expert advice and guidance on HR matters, you will lead complex casework, performance management, employee relations and key HR initiatives. These initiatives will span across various areas, including workforce planning, talent management, resourcing, restructuring, pay and reward, and employee engagement.

A key part of the role is ensuring that stakeholders are informed and consulted on organisational changes, as well as delivering bite-size training sessions for managers.

Additionally, you will:

- Use data from HRIS to identify process improvements, drive decision-making and develop business cases for change initiatives

- Deputise for the Deputy Director of People & Culture

About You

To be considered as our Senior HR Business Partner, you will need:

- Experience of managing and improving employee relations

- Experience of developing and managing change projects and programmes

- Experience of managing conflict and sensitive issues and achieving positive outcomes

- Experience of developing workforce plans that reflect organisational/departmental needs

- A strong track record of developing and implementing policy

- Experience of delivering strategic priorities within strict timescales

It's an exciting time to join Mind's Physical Activity team as Physical Activity Lead. We believe sport and physical activity can build resilience, support and enable mental health recovery, and tackle mental health stigma. We have a track record of delivering impactful programmes with Sport England, the English Football League (EFL), ASICS and many other partners.

As Physical Activity Lead, you will lead on the implementation of our physical activity programmes focusing on marginalised communities. This work explores how physical activity can support the mental health of people from racialised communities and people facing poverty.

You will manage our existing partnerships with Sporting Equals, Muslim Sports Foundation and England Boxing. Your will also identify and build new partnerships, particularly with organisations who support people from the African and Caribbean Community.

Throughout the role, you will engage people from marginalised communities to inform and influence our work. This will include working with our Lived Experience Advisors who shape our marginalised communities' work.

This post is funded by Sport England and the National Lottery as part of our system partnership. The role is fixed term full time until March 2027.

Key duties and responsibilities

The post holder will:

-Lead the implementation of our physical activity programmes focusing on marginalised communities. This includes reviewing and activating the recommendations from our Audience scoping work around people from racialised communities and people facing poverty.

-Provide consultancy support to organisations working with marginalised communities through our Embedding mental health in sport and physical activity: our jigsaw approach subject to capacity and strategic fit. The scope may include, but is not limited to auditing mental health provision, supporting strategy or policy development, providing content for resources or delivering workshops.

-Engage with people from marginalised communities including people from racialised communities and people fighting poverty, to ensure lived experience engagement within our physical activity programme delivery and wider policy work. This includes working with our Lived Experience Advisors to shape our work.

-Lead on the promotion of Mind's Sector Support Universal Offer through developing a promotional plan and coordinating the team's attendance at events and communications to promote resources, working closely with the Physical Activity Coordinator.

This role is great development opportunity for someone with corporate partnerships and/or account management experience.  You know what it takes to make a partnership a success and are looking to take the lead across your own portfolio of partners.

You are experienced in writing persuasively for a range of audiences. You are also a confident communicator, with the ability to lead meetings with senior stakeholders or present to a room full of people.

You are comfortable collaborating across teams, with experience of bringing people together to solve a problem or achieve a goal. You’ll be comfortable working to your own initiative and taking the lead on projects and relationships.

This pivotal role will lead our Changemakers campaign, securing mission-aligned donations of five figures and more from high net worth individuals. You will also collaborate with the Director of Business Development to secure six- and seven-figure gifts to drive transformational solutions to the climate crisis.

We’re seeking an experienced fundraiser with a track record of securing major gifts and building strong relationships with high-net-worth individuals. While climate or environmental exposure is not essential, alignment with Ashden's values and passion for driving systems change is crucial. You’ll be supported by a collaborative team, including senior leadership and the Chair of Trustees, and will have key strategic and operational input into the success of our fundraising, the growth of the team, and the broader impact of our charity.

About the opportunity 

Critical to our mission, we are looking to recruit a London Programme Manager to be responsible for a geographical area and the schools within it, whilst supporting geographical expansion. You will oversee your region’s Action Tutoring programmes, liaising with our partner schools and developing new school partnerships, whilst supporting your team of Programme Coordinators to engage pupils and support them to build relationships with stakeholders and retain a strong pool of tutors.

As a Programme Manager, you will line manage up to seven Programme Coordinators to ensure they effectively manage their caseload of schools, whilst driving the quality of programmes and ensuring that the delivery of programmes meets organisational KPIs. This role will take a lead on new school recruitment, regularly pitching to Senior Leaders within schools and managing school partnerships within your region to ensure Action Tutoring’s growth targets are met. Additionally, you will contribute to the wider leadership of the Action Tutoring programme team, lead on programme-specific projects to support the programme department’s priorities and will be expected to support the wider learning and development needs of the Programme Coordinator team.

The position would suit someone who enjoys working with people who have a frontline role, gets energy from pitching to schools and wants to increase their management experience in an exciting and rapidly developing charity. The successful candidate should be able to manage their own workload to a high standard as well as support others, have excellent attention to detail, be adaptable, relational and used to problem-solving, and be able to work well with a range of
stakeholders and be confident in carrying out administrative tasks to support programme delivery.

Comprehensive induction and training will be provided. Action Tutoring is committed to providing development opportunities for its staff and, as a growing charity, there are plenty of opportunities to take on new areas of responsibility.

Qualifications and experience criteria:

A-C in maths and English at GCSE (or equivalent experience)

Right to work in the UK

Reports to: Head of Programmes (South)

Salary: £33,964 - £35,669 per annum, depending on experience, plus London Weighting of £2,271 per annum

Contract and hours:  Permanent, full time contract (37.5 hours)
We offer flexible hours 9.30-4pm as core hours.
