Detention Action is a small organisation with a big impact. Since 1993, we have worked to improve the welfare of people in detention centres and tirelessly campaign alongside our beneficiaries to reduce the use of immigration detention. We work on the frontline with people in immigration detention, as well as challenging injustices in asylum, detention and deportation systems in the UK.

We are looking for a Fundraising Lead to join our organisation and ensure the smooth running of our fundraising operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual who is looking to develop their fundraising skills, and to join us in defending the rights of people in detention at a critical time for our organisation and the wider immigration and human rights sector.

West Yorkshire Pathfinder Partnership (across Calderdale, Bradford, Leeds, Kirklees, Wakefield)

West Yorkshire Pathfinder Partnership (WYPP) is to be launched as a 12-month pilot, following successful programmes in other UK areas. Staying Put are proud to lead this partnership of 5 exceptional providers of domestic abuse services; Leeds Domestic Violence Service represented by Leeds Women’s Aid and Behind Closed Doors, WomenCentre, Pennine Domestic Abuse Partnership and Wakefield Domestic Abuse Service.

We are now looking to set up our team of dedicated and passionate Family Court IDVAs. There are vacancies at all partners for this post, the salary will be the same across the partnership, however the terms and conditions may vary.

The locations for this role will be Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds or Wakefield. You will be employed by one of the above organisations and be based in one location, however there is the need for flexibility and expectation of travel across all areas, at times.

About the role

This role will play a crucial part in supporting individuals, families and children through the family court process as part of the Pathfinder programme. Working as part of a strong multi-agency team across the courts of West Yorkshire, you will ensure the voice of the survivor informs every stage of the process. Using a client-led and trauma-informed approach, this role provides high-quality advocacy support to survivors of domestic abuse.

• Various hours available – 22.5 hours over 3 days, 30 hours over 4 days or full-time at 37.5 hours over 5 days, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
• £27,898 – £28,898 FTE per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
• 12 month fixed-term contract initially. There is the possibility of extension, depending on successful outcomes of the pilot.

We’re looking for someone organised, non-judgemental, and passionate about helping and supporting our service users. If you have experience in advocacy, supporting vulnerable people in a domestic abuse arena and have a strong understanding of trauma-informed care, we want to hear from you. We operate ten safe houses and five outreach hubs, staffed round the clock by specialist staff, working with more than 600 men, women and dependent children each year. Our Pursue work helps survivors to engage with police and within the legal system to seek justice and to secure convictions against their perpetrators.

This role is based in a safe house in the Southampton area.

About the job

Due to a restructure, we are seeking a confident and experienced Modern Slavery Case Worker with a wide range of skills and importantly, a ‘can do’ approach.

As the Modern Slavery Case Worker, you will work as a member of a close and supportive team providing a safe environment for vulnerable female adults and their dependents up to the age of 1 from outside the UK who have experienced trauma and exploitation. You will provide high quality practical and emotional support to the residents within a risk assessed safe house setting. The role will involve assisting clients with increasing practical skills and self-confidence to empower and enable independent and safe living.

You will be expected to line manage Case Worker Assistants and bank staff. Additionally, you will be allocated a caseload of up to 5 service users to support.

This role is mainly Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend shifts. You will be required to be part of an on-call rota and able to get to and from the project if it is necessary to attend the project whilst on-call.

You must have experience of working with vulnerable adults, the ability to work within a ‘risk associated’ environment and, ideally, experience of working within a residential or community setting with non-UK citizens.

Administration / IT skills and health and safety awareness are essential. Modern Day Slavery, Immigration and knowledge of the asylum process would be desirable. Please also note that there is a substantial amount of administrative work involved in this role.

About the role

The Policy and Public Affairs team is responsible for Carers UK’s policy, media, campaigns, research, public affairs and media functions, working with our colleagues in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. We are a small team carrying out the full range of public affairs activity, from raising awareness of caring through public campaigns and in the media, to influencing Parliament, Government and wider stakeholders through new research, policy expertise and our campaigning work.

This role plays a vital part in delivering the charity’s core aims to make life better for carers by:

• Contributing to Carers UK's policy and campaigns function in the development and dissemination of policy and supporting key projects to maintain and improve the reputation of the organisation.
• Monitoring, highlighting, and analysing key policy developments by the UK Government and other public bodies regarding their potential impact on carers.
• Liaising and building strong working relationships across the organisation to help deliver the policy and public affairs team’s objectives.

You’ll play a key role leading the development and delivery of our influencing work in the Midlands. This will include focusing on topics such as waiting times, screening, and secondary breast cancer.

About you

You’ll have a good understanding of the current health landscape in the Midlands, or across England, along with experience of working in a relevant stakeholder, strategic, influencing or policy role.

Along with strong strategic, analytical and communication skills, you’ll have a proven ability to build strong external relationships, and influence change within the NHS at a local or national level. You’ll have the ability to work well independently while managing a varied workload, and the capability to lead projects and work with teams across the UK.

This role involves travel across the Midlands. Therefore, you can either be home based or office based at either our London or Sheffield offices if within reasonable commuting distance.

Job description

The main purpose of this role is to provide energy advice to householders by telephone and email and to provide information to help householders/clients to access appropriate support. This role also requires you to maintain accurate and detailed records of all interactions with clients.

Pay and conditions

• The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week). However, we will consider applications from a minimum of 22.5hrs per week.

• The salary for the role will be £25,750 rising to £26,739 after 6 months 

• You will be entitled to 25 days paid holiday (plus statutory holidays).

Specific responsibilities

An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:

• To work on the advice line and/or other telephone advice projects making and receiving calls from people who may need help with energy related issues. 

• To record client details and use own knowledge to assess help and support needed. 

• To refer clients onto other support organisations in their area as appropriate. 

• To identify energy improvements that can be made to clients’ properties and refer to installers who can fit them. 

• To help vulnerable clients make applications for grants and switch energy tariffs where appropriate. 

• To listen attentively to callers (some of whom may be in distress) and respond to their needs in an empathetic way. 

• To be familiar with and adhere to advice line protocol, processes and procedures.
