The Bridge Group is a non-profit consultancy that uses research to promote social equality. We do this by supporting organisations of all kinds with independent expertise, research and practical know-how to enable them to make a tangible impact on socio-economic diversity and social equality.

We are seeking to appoint a Researcher (Quantitative analysis) to contribute to the design and delivery of research, with a particular focus on preparing and analysing quantitative data. The Researcher will normally be involved with research projects focusing on higher education and/or employment in relation to people from lower socio-economic backgrounds: their access, experiences and progression.

The location is flexible: Bridge Group staff normally work remotely and are currently dispersed across the UK and beyond. We want our Team to be diverse, because having a range of perspectives and experience benefits our work, and we particularly encourage people who are diverse by socio-economic and/or ethnic background to apply.

This will be a part-time role, as outlined above, and will be one year fixed-term contract in the first instance (with possibility of extension).

All staff receive 28 days paid leave, plus UK bank holidays (leave allocated pro rata for part time appointments), plus a tax-free remote working allowance worth up to £26 per month.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.   Contribute to the design and delivery of research

Data analysis will vary from routine coding and mapping to descriptive statistics and advanced approaches including correlation analysis, ANOVAs and regression analysis. In preparing data, the Researcher will identify the need for clarifications and additional information on the data, and will clearly communicate these queries. The Researcher will undertake this work in strict compliance with the Charity’s policies on data security and confidentiality.

2.   Collaborate with colleagues

The Researcher will normally work alongside the Senior Researcher (Quantitative), who will typically lead on the quantitative aspect of research projects and will allocate responsibilities to the Researcher. The Researcher will be expected to undertake these with relatively little guidance and share their findings with the research team, working alongside colleagues to synthesise qualitative and quantitative findings and understand how findings from various strands of research address key research questions.

3.   Communicate research findings

The Researcher will clearly present their specific outputs to the Senior Researcher and/or other colleagues through concise informal reports. They will contribute verbally to internal meetings of the research team. The Researcher may contribute to drafting external reports (or sections of reports), presenting findings in a style accessible to a range of audiences.

4.   Operational contributions

There will also be other more operational tasks associated with the role, working in collaboration with colleagues in the Charity. These are likely to include administrative tasks for meetings and events; communications with stakeholders, including by phone and email; copywriting; and website contributions.

SKILLS, UNDERSTANDING AND EXPERIENCE

We seek candidates with the following attributes:

Quantitative research

• Have experience in advanced statistical approaches including, for example, ANOVA, and non-parametric approaches
• Understand how these are used to explore social equality issues and are aware of recent published work in this area
• Have substantial experience of identifying the most appropriate approach to explore specific research questions within the context of the data available and the organisation(s) involved
• Have experience of working with large datasets that were not generated for research purposes and require extensive mapping and manipulation
• Are happy to undertake routine tasks, such as checking and cleaning datasets; matching and coding of datasets; and general descriptive statistics
• Pay uncompromising attention to accuracy and detail; and are skilled in identifying data challenges and limitations early in the process wherever possible
• In addition, it would be an advantage to have experience of working with deprivation/disadvantage metrics used in research relating to education and employment (e.g. Index of Multiple Deprivation and HESA measures)

Interpreting and presenting findings

• Have excellent interpersonal and teamworking skills, allowing you to collaborate with colleagues on research tasks and a broad understanding of qualitative research approaches so you can work alongside qualitative researcher colleagues to synthesise quantitative and qualitative findings

WeMove Europe is looking for a Digital Campaigner and Fundraiser (German Language) who is able to think, do, and deliver. Someone who loves being part of fast-paced digital campaigning for a better Europe and can also think about the bigger strategic picture.

Most importantly the digital world: online campaigning, fundraising and innovative digital tactics excite you, and you are keen to learn more in this field. Data analysis and data driven decision-making is not a frightening concept to you, on the contrary. 

As a Digital Campaigner and Fundraiser (German Language), your tasks will include:

Digital, Creative, Comms 

• Identify European campaign opportunities and develop and lead on campaigns from planning phase, to execution, pulling out the creative digital tactics in between
• Storytelling - Write strong, compelling copy which results in our members taking action on various issues, including for email and social media platforms
• Tailor our emails fundraisers and messages to the German context 
• Manage email communications with our German members, including setting up and sending emails using our online campaigning tools (currently, ActionKit), and analysing data and user engagement
• Run ads in your country to optimise our campaigns for growth and impact
• Stay up-to-date with digital campaigning and marketing trends and find innovative ways to apply them at WeMove Europe
• Organise “offline” actions such as demonstrations, petition handovers etc.
• With with a part-time Digital Organiser to help manage the German community

Fundraising

• Fundraise from individual donors in Germany
• Support the fundraising team in executing our members focused fundraising strategy, 
• Tailor fundraising messages to our German community 
• Support campaigners to raise funds for their campaigns and from their communities

Partnerships

• Build and maintain relations with partners in NGOs and movements in Germany and EU-wide
• Help us understand the political dynamics in Germany by keeping connected to local movements, alternative thinking and researching policy processes within your national context as it connects to the EU level

Other

• Travel nationally and EU-wide for team meetings, retreats, stakeholder and partner meetings, and petition deliveries

About You - Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Digital Campaigner and Fundraiser (German Language) who brings these qualities to the table:

• You are comfortable with and excited by helping people understand their own power and becoming agents of change
• You understand the power of words and stories to make change, and you write great copy and have great writing skills in English and German
• You speak and write German at a native or fluent (C2) level
• Results drive you and crave more data, keen to run tests that are backed by statistical significance and are always looking to improve your work 
• You excel at finding visuals and creating engaging graphics and video content for campaigns.
• You are comfortable with new software, online tools and all things digital
• You are deeply committed to working in Germany and Europe for bold, structural change and believe in empowering the people around you to do the same
• You have some experience with non-partisan political campaigning, and if that experience is online and digital that’s an added bonus
• You have a strong understanding of the political and social context in Germany as well as some understanding of the European context.
• You are fluent in English to a degree that you can work in an English-speaking environment and can translate from English into German
• You are happy with travel in Europe 
• You look forward to working in a team where we all strive to learn from each other in order to have the biggest possible impact
• You have some experience in digital fundraising

You will have significant experience and a proven track record in developing and delivering fundraising strategy, particularly focused on trusts, foundations and philanthropy, taking a relationship-based approach to build partnerships with organisations that share similar values and vision.

You will work with the team to build our capability, partnership, systems and processes to steward relationships, develop grants and manage their delivery.  Working with our Communications Co-ordinator you will help to build INTRAC’s profile and position in line with our strategic vision and ambitions.  You will have active support from the CEO along with strong board commitment to help develop and deliver this role.

This is a part time role (0.6-0.8 FTE); initially offered as an eighteen month contract with the intention to extend should the role be successful.

We are a remote organisation, with staff working across the UK. As we become a global network we are looking at options as to how to expand our staff base in different geographies, as we believe this will benefit INTRAC and support our strategic direction.  However, we do not have a straightforward way to do this currently. Who we are

Animal Equality is an international animal protection organisation working with society, governments and companies to end cruelty to farmed animals. Animal Equality has offices in the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Brazil and India.

Animal Equality releases investigative materials captured from inside factory farms and slaughterhouses, exposing the conditions that farmed animals face around the world. We publish our findings on television, in newspapers and online. We routinely secure mainstream media coverage, including on the BBC, ITV, Sky news, The Times, the Guardian, New York Times and many more.

Animal Equality also advocates for political change. Our current campaigns include a UK ban on foie gras imports, increased enforcement of existing animal protection laws, legal protections for farmed fish, and Government subsidies for transitioning towards a plant-based food system.

We focus on farmed animals because of the scale and severity of the issue. More than a billion animals are confined and killed for human consumption every year in the UK. Farmed animals also often suffer in some of the worst ways: pigs typically endure painful mutilations, many chickens die of heart attacks, fish are confined in underwater cages, and some farmed animals are victims of deliberate abuse and neglect. But the problem is solvable! By utilising effective campaigning strategies, Animal Equality is having an impact for animals around the world and building a future where all animals are respected and protected and are no longer exploited for human consumption.

About the role

An experienced advocate with a sound understanding of the UK political system and legislative process, the Policy and Advocacy Specialist will be responsible for leading on Animal Equality’s life-saving legal advocacy campaigns on behalf of farmed animals.

Working as part of a highly effective team, within a fast-paced environment, the Policy and Advocacy Specialist will develop and implement advocacy strategies that influence public policy with a goal to advance Animal Equality UK’s mission: to end the exploitation of farmed animals.

An excellent communicator, with an ability to convey complex information in a digestible way, the Policy and Advocacy Specialist will be a professional with a proven track record of policy programme delivery. The role involves engaging with policymakers, building relationships with coalition partners, overseeing public affairs initiatives, and influencing Government policy to create meaningful changes for farmed animals.

General responsibilities:

• Contribute to the organisation’s policy programmes: Garner reliable intel, conduct in-depth research, and carry out robust data analysis to inform Animal Equality UK’s ongoing policy and advocacy efforts for animals. Develop authentic, ambitious, and inspiring short-term and long-term policy goals that have the greatest impact for farmed animals. Maintain and develop the organisation’s policy statements, as required.
• Shaping policy initiatives: Influence decision-makers across the devolved governments. Identify ways to shape the debate, engage thoroughly in the legislative process to affect how farmed animal issues are framed, and maximise opportunities for targeted animal advocacy campaigns.
• Conduct stakeholder mapping: Identify and ensure regular engagement with key political figures and influencers, including ministers, politicians, civil servants, advisory bodies, officials, regulators, and local authorities. Propose ways to engage Parliamentarians and identify those with the potential to become champions for our cause.
• Influence decision-makers: Foster and maintain relationships with individuals critical to achieving successful outcomes for animals. Build on established relationships with individuals and bodies in a position to create lasting change for animals and convince influential political decision-makers to prioritise farmed animals in their funding and policy agendas.
• Produce compelling briefings: Develop high-quality, evidence-based responses to new policy developments, animal agriculture industry reports, Government consultations, and more. Craft politically persuasive briefings, including formal policy submissions, briefings, blogs, and press statements. Lead on the dissemination of relevant information to key political stakeholders.
• Work closely with campaigning colleagues: Work with colleagues in the Communications, Marketing, and Campaigns Departments to support the effective execution of public awareness campaigns that raise Animal Equality UK’s public profile and inform members of the public about the plight of farmed animals. Keep abreast of relevant political developments and maintain Animal Equality’s strong external policy presence through coordinated, proactive, and reactive lobbying and campaigning efforts.
• Grow strategically aligned partnerships: Liaise with and, where appropriate, convene fellow experts and advocacy organisations to gather intelligence, share best practice, and canvas opinion to inform policy positions. Support Animal Equality’s engagement in coalitions.
• Support in the organisation of events: Assist in the organisation of key events to inform and influence policymakers. Represent Animal Equality, where appropriate, at policy and networking events.
• Monitor outcomes: Measure, track, and critically evaluate policy developments, ensuring internal alignment on key issues and opportunities associated with our current campaigns. Salary and benefits

Salary band £32,500-£35,000, depending on experience. This is a remote working opportunity (UK-based candidates only); colleagues are expected to attend mandatory monthly meet-ups in central London.

Business Development at Refugee Council

We operate two main service departments supporting refugees (resettlement, employment, and integration) and people seeking asylum (casework, therapeutic support, and social support for adults and children. We also have a smaller Practice Development team supporting Refugee Community Organisations and frontline practitioners to develop their skills and capacity to meet the needs of people seeking asylum and refugees. Our Business Development team sits within our Fundraising and External Affairs team and works closely with our services directorate.

The purpose of this role is to bolster the resource of our Business Development team in order to build the foundations for statutory income generation for Refugee Council in the immediate term and for the future. The key elements of the role are to:

• Identify the appropriate statutory commissioners to liaise with when presenting our service models. This is a time intensive task that requires research via different platforms and networks (e.g. LinkedIn, web searches, internal colleague contacts, and related market insights).
• Assess feedback and insights following engagement with commissioners, identify patterns and opportunities, and contribute towards Business Development’s funder engagement and fundraising strategy.
• Prepare background documents, such as up-to-date context statements and summaries, for use in proposals, tenders, service models, and related Business Development products. Lead on various administrative tasks to support the function of the Business Development team, such as completing selection questionnaires for competitive tenders.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Research:

• Our Business Development Officer will lead the researching and mapping statutory commissioners, service delivery partners, and providers to produce a clear picture of service delivery landscape, commissioner interests, and commissioning trends to inform business development strategies across our geographical hub areas.
• They will identify appropriate and influential statutory commissioners (via internal colleagues, LinkedIn, online searches, and related sources) for Business Development colleagues to contact. Through their detailed research they will build an in-depth understanding of commissioner roles and remit, interests, and priority areas of work that will help us influence statutory commissioners.
• They will lead on developing and maintaining content-rich, in depth evidence-based summaries on clients’ and commissioners’ evolving needs for use in proposals, tenders, service models, and strategy documents. These summaries will be highly persuasive and enable to team to influence funders. They will be required to analyse complex data and evidence presenting asylum and refugee trends and figures as well as statutory funding available across a range of sources.

Contract: Fixed term until 31/10/2025.

You will be able to draft practical policy recommendations, informed by evidence and stakeholder input, and be familiar with key players, including government departments, regulators, consumer groups, industry bodies, and environmental organizations. This is an excellent opportunity to develop a core role in our charity, as well as make a tangible impact on the environment and social equity in the UK.

The post will be primarily based remotely, working from home, but with access to shared office space in Camden and Monument in London. Our board of trustees meet twice a year in person in central London (and twice more online), and our Executive Director is often in London for meetings once or twice a week.
