The organisation conducts rigorous research into the issues of low social mobility and educational disadvantage, undertakes policy advocacy to effect systemic change, and delivers programmes to over 10,000 young people each year across the country. The Trust is recruiting a creative and committed Research and Policy Officer to join our team, as fixed term cover for paternity leave. Reporting to one of the team’s Research and Policy Managers, the successful candidate will play a significant role in developing and preparing the Trust’s research and policy outputs, working across the core areas of the Sutton Trust’s work (early years, schools, apprenticeships, higher education and access to the workplace). This will include helping to produce original, data rich and policy relevant research reports, along with contributing to other Trust research projects where required. They will also support the policy and advocacy work of the Trust, including performing background research on topics relevant to educational inequality and social mobility as required.
Main duties
- To contribute, with colleagues, to 2 or more data-rich research reports accessible to practitioners and policy makers, over the course of the year, as agreed with the Research, Comms and Policy leadership team.
- To support the Sutton Trust’s programme of research and policy work, including:
- Providing staff with background research, analysis and data on relevant topics
- Producing literature reviews
- Supporting research funding bids
- Providing administrative support
- Working with Communication colleagues to develop messaging and content for disseminating and publicising reports.
- Supporting advocacy work, as required, with MPs’ staff, civil servants, special advisers and other policy makers.

Person Specification
Essential:
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of research methods, particularly quantitative research and literature reviews. This should include experience of using data analysis software such as R/SPSS/Stata/Python or equivalent.
- A qualification in a social science or other numerate discipline, including statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, data science or similar discipline in the social or natural sciences at undergraduate level, or comparable experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Personable, flexible and discreet; able to fit in to a small team
- Being sympathetic to the aims of the Trust and its mission to address educational disadvantage;
- Is eligible to work in the UK (see here for information about right to work)
Desirable:
- Experience undertaking research projects in an academic or working environment.
- Knowledge of one of more of our priority policy areas (early years, schools, apprenticeships, higher education and access to the workplace), and the wider education policy environment in England.
- Strong understanding of government and the public policy environment.
- Experience in education (for example, as a teacher or in another front-line educational role), education policy or a closely related field.
- Experience working within or an understanding of the not-for-profit sector.

Terms of Appointment
- Contract: Full-time, 1-year fixed term contract

Purpose of the role
We are looking for a creative, organised, and disciplined person to take on a key role within our rapidly expanding organisation. As the Communications and Digital Officer, you will be central in the implementation of Black Thrive Global’s communications strategy. You will be supporting our Communications Manager in the delivery of all aspects of communications and marketing activity with both key stakeholders and the public.
You will help to support the creation of a compelling and consistent narrative about the work that Black Thrive Global does across all our communication channels. You will be integral in helping to disseminate key messaging for core projects and work-streams working closely with our internal teams and external partners. Duties and responsibilities

School Food Matters (SFM) exists to teach children about food and to improve children’s access to healthy, sustainable food during their time at school. We provide fully funded food education programmes to schools. Our experience delivering these programmes informs and strengthens our campaigns, bringing the voices of children, parents and teachers to government policy.
Job Purpose
· To manage an exciting, new programme in Southwark implementing a whole school approach (WSA) to food
· To promote, develop and deliver the programme across nurseries, primaries, secondaries and SEN schools in Southwark

- Onboard and line-manage a Project Officer and volunteers to support delivery, providing training as required

The Churches Conservation Trust (CCT) has an international award-winning reputation in heritage conservation and regeneration for its own estate. For this reason CCT has been contracted to deliver a programme of work for Historic Chapels Trust (HCT). HCT owns and cares for 20 of the most significant Nonconformist and Catholic chapels no longer in regular use by their congregations, all listed at Grade I and Grade II*. Key to the project is management of the assets, funded by the National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF) through their Cultural Assets Fund (CAF).
As a member of CCT’s national Conservation team you will be the main point of contact for all chapel maintenance related issues, liaising closely with contractors, local groups and volunteers. Alongside the Conservation Projects Manager for Chapels you will deliver the maintenance programme, including regulatory and legal compliance, as well as deal with utilities and insurance of chapels. 10 of the chapels are in our North region, 6 in our West region and 4 are in our South East region.
You will have previous experience in the field of historic buildings maintenance, repair or property management. You will be an effective communicator, be able to plan and deliver your own workload and also work as part of a team. As you’ll be working at chapels throughout England it is essential you have a full driving licence.

About the role
Your role will be central to achieving our three-year strategy, which is focused on:

Based in our Advocacy and Campaigns team the Senior Policy Officer will be responsible for delivering our Social Mobility Employer Index and support the development of our wider policy positions and campaigns work.
Growing the influence and impact of the Index is a key strategic priority within ambition two, and this role will help achieve that by ensuring we continue to develop our knowledge and to influence and improve employer-led social mobility. You’ll be responsible for project managing and delivering core components of the Index including the marking, design and delivery of the survey, which we use to gather employer data and the feedback reports, which we share with entrants. You’ll ensure the documents evolve with best practice and in line with our work with young people. Working with others you’ll deliver the annual key findings report, ultimately helping improve employer led social mobility in the UK.
Alongside the Index you’ll play a key role in developing policy positions for our political influencing campaigns. You’ll support our internal knowledge hub, drawing insights from our Aspiring Professionals Programme, wider research and focus groups with our young people and share external developments to ensure we have robust, youth-led positions. You’ll analyse evidence and help carve out our unique point of view on how we can improve social mobility in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on the project management and delivery of the Index including development of policy positions and best practice, questionnaire design, employer feedback reports.
- Lead the annual review of the Index assessing the impact it’s had on driving employer behaviour and update our measurement and evaluation metrics accordingly.
- Ensure documents are reviewed annually and updated to reflect the latest best practice and insights from our wider interventions.

Do you have a passion for digital systems and helping an organisation transform its culture and operations to make the best use of digital technology?
Do you love working with people and supporting them to get the most out of the systems we use?
Church Urban Fund is looking for a dynamic individual to lead our Digital Systems work and set the standards for our use of digital technology, especially in the best use of our CRM, which will help us realise our organisational strategy.
About you: The successful candidate will have excellent skills around digital processes and management of a CRM software. You will have experience of Salesforce or other CRM software and how to integrate this with other software systems. You will be a person who seeks to make the best use of the digital tools that we have and strongly support others to improve their knowledge of digital systems. With strong interpersonal skills you will be able to support and train colleagues for them to get the most out of their use of the CRM. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate they can set and monitor performance standards and continuously improve processes and systems.
