The successful candidate will be responsible for and have:

· Great interpersonal skills and an advice background to manage our advice services.

· They will be responsible for the day to day delivery of our advertised advice services, including supporting training, overseeing and supervising the quality of advice given and managing performance of staff and volunteers.

· The ability to bring out the best in the team, as well as to ensure the highest quality of advice across our core service and varied projects.

· Be a trained Advice Session Supervisor/ or knowledgeable generalist adviser/caseworker and/or willing to complete the appropriate training.

· You will be part of the senior management team, inputting into the running of the office, developing relationships with relevant stakeholders and funders where appropriate and promoting our service.

· You will ensure new initiatives are implemented smoothly and that volunteers, staff and supervisors are appropriately supported and developed.

· The role includes providing cover for Advice Session Supervisors and filling short-term gaps in staffing as necessary.

Overall purpose

Your primary responsibility will be to lead Breaking Barriers’ employment programme in Birmingham and the West Midlands, and support the Senior Employment Services Manager and Director of Services in ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency in the support we provide to clients.  

Working closely with the Senior Employment Services Manager, you will take ownership of delivery within this region and lead on the delivery of the contract, including maintaining effective external stakeholder relationships and providing accurate and timely reporting. You will line manage and support a team of Employment Advisers (“Advisers”), enabling them to provide high-quality support to clients and coordinate the day-to-day operational activity which keeps our programmes running.

You are a highly organised and effective worker who knows when to adopt a creative approach and when to follow the established process. You will have an empathetic manner, be willing to go the extra mile to support clients and be proactive in looking for ways to improve our service. Lived experience would be helpful but is not essential.  

In addition to exceptional people skills, you will be a strong communicator and possess meticulous attention to detail. You will be confident working autonomously, helped by excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise and cope with interruptions.

You should have at a demonstrable track record of transferrable work experience in coordinating service delivery, projects or programmes, or another relevant field. Equally important is a demonstrable commitment to working with marginalised populations who face barriers to employment, particularly refugees. A strong interest in employability support and experience delivering employment programmes or careers advice would be a strong advantage.

About the role

Job Title: Partnerships Manager

Location: London, Manchester or Birmingham

Salary: £33,000 - £39,000 London or £31,000 - £37,000 Manchester and Birmingham

Terms: 5 days per week (37.5 hours), open to flexible working arrangements

Contract: Permanent

Purpose of the role:

The main purpose of the Partnerships Manager role is to lead on the delivery of first-class account management to a diverse portfolio of corporate partners, generating income to support Breaking Barriers’ work. Each partnership at Breaking Barriers is bespoke, comprising fundraising, skilled volunteering, awareness raising and, crucially, placement and job opportunities for our refugee clients.

Working closely with the wider Partnerships Management and Programmes teams, you will be responsible for launching new partnerships and retaining business by deepening relationships and identifying opportunities for growth.

The successful candidate will have experience managing corporate partner relationships, including making fundraising asks and managing external communication with donors and partners at all levels of seniority. You will deploy your influencing skills and ability to build profitable relationships to great effect as you take a leading role identifying and nurturing future strategic partnerships. An understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility would be advantageous.

Location: Hybrid, contracted to work at our Manchester or Birmingham office at least 2 days a week.

Overall purpose

We are excited to pilot a new type of Employment Adviser role in our Services team, focusing on building relationships with local employers to support our job-ready clients in securing employment.

You will build networks of local employers and collaborate with our Employment Advisers to help clients with intensive job searches and applications, while managing your own caseload of work-ready clients.

We are seeking candidates with experience in engaging employers and knowledge of the local job market, including finding hidden opportunities.

The primary focus of your role will be helping individuals facing employment barriers, especially those who have experienced forced migration, find paid work. You will manage a fast-paced caseload, providing one-on-one support to clients online, by phone and in person to help them reach their employment goals.

In addition to direct client work, you will assist the team in identifying job opportunities and work with the Senior Services Manager to develop key employer relationships. You will also coordinate your clients access to volunteer-led support, scheduling mock interviews and practice sessions.
