Bluestep was incorporated in 2010 and is based at Blisworth Hill Farm in the lovely Northamptonshire countryside, commutable from Northampton, Milton Keynes and surrounding areas. The business operates in design, merchandise, storage and fulfilment services providing varied solutions to a wide range of clients in the charity, healthcare, outdoor education, corporate and sports sectors. Main purposes of job
As our Charity Account Director within the Client Services team, you will play the lead role in driving business growth across the Charity sector in line with our 4-year plan that we launched at the start of this new financial year (April 2024).
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management, leading, inspiration and coaching of our Charity Account Management team (from Senior Account Managers to Account Executives, possibly Apprentices down the line), while at the same time looking after a select number of high value Charity partners.
This responsibility will involve you being constantly immersed in the daily activity, providing on the spot advice and coaching to our team, making a concerted effort to get to know each of our clients and an expert knowledge of our portfolio of services on offer. Due to the experience and network of the successful candidate, we expect you to bring opportunities our way.

Main responsibilities
Client Strategic Influence: Will play a huge part in creating, influencing and implementing strategy for a very small number of extremely high value, lifelong clients surmounting to a multi-million pound portfolio. Without your involvement, our clients would struggle.
Inspiring, Mentoring, Coaching: We expect the successful candidate to have a huge passion for developing teams and individuals. You should gravitate towards people and be an inspirational figure that the team will want to seek knowledge and support from. You should have the ability to help integrate and intertwine individuals with their clients, making them an indispensable extension to their team.
Reporting Lead duties: All members of the Charity team will report into this role and the individual will be responsible for all aspects of people management.
Living in the Detail: With such a huge client base within the Charity sector, offering a variety of services (Merchandise, Design, Storage & Fulfilment), we expect the successful candidate to have the capacity and ambition to immerse themself in the detail, investing an incredible amount of time getting to know individual accounts and clients alike. Much of this will take place in “real life” through discussion with Account Managers and clients, though detail will also come from Synergist, our CRM platform.
Strategic Implementation: Able to support the development and implementation of commercial strategy with the aim being to accelerate the growth of Bluestep as a business and industry player. Adaptability will be required as trends and needs develop over time.
Client Relationship Management: Love & Care is central to everything we do (Net Promoter Score is a key metric that we have introduced to the business) and your philosophy must be focused around this. Our Love & Care Manager is the key to unlocking the rewards of this and a resource that must be utilised to the best of your ability. This role will require management and delegation of clients when the team are on leave.
Sales and Revenue Generation: This role will require integrated working with our Client Services Director and Marketing team to ensure that sales support is directed in the right areas at the right times. This ties in with our recruitment strategy and demands. With the candidate’s standing within the Charity community, we also expect this person to unlock significant opportunities within the sector.
Collaboration: This role works very closely with our Client Services Director, who has overall responsibility for all Client Services related activity, and our Love & Care Manager, who will underpin and support all operational and client requirements for the team. Generally, this role requires collaboration across the business in order to guarantee success.
Budget Management: Responsible for creating and monitoring annual, quarterly and monthly sales and GP margin budgets across the Charity sector by individual. Responsible for communicating and agreeing budgets across the team.
Reporting: Develop and update reporting tools that keep the team and management abreast of performance, including presentations within our fortnightly “Scrum” meetings. Prepare and present regular reports and updates to leadership.
Drive change on Industry Trends: Not only offering solutions both internally to Management and to clients in order that these are addressed, but playing a huge role in ensuring they are implemented. This person should be an influential member of the sector community.

Charity Account Director Experience
Proven experience in Senior roles within a merchandise and design agency or similar environment
Experience working with Not-for-profit organisations or in-house roles including Senior Fundraising Manager/Director (essential)

About this role:
Reporting to the Deputy CEO, the Communications and Policy Manager will support SIB’s track record of sector, government and media engagement, notably the high standard of publication set through its media partnerships with Tortoise and the Financial Times, its contributions to the policy landscape in the social sector, and its in-house data analysis and insight generation. This new post will contribute to SIB’s ongoing communications and policy work and its reach and influence.
Key responsibilities
1. Support the delivery of a comprehensive plan for our communications and policy activity, combining ongoing promotional communications, specific activities for funds and programmes, and proactively generated content and opportunities to influence
2. Co-ordinating with SIB partners in developing and delivering communication work, on major projects such as the Youth Investment Fund, the Recovery Loan Fund and the Enterprise Development Programme; ensuring that it is powered by data and customer insight of the highest quality
3. Keeping track of policy developments in areas of strategic importance to SIB, notably in social investment, youth, community energy and infrastructure investment. Writing briefings on key policy developments related to SIB’s strategic priorities, proactively identifying opportunities to further our policy agenda; also researching and preparing responses for relevant external consultations, using SIB data and evidence
4. Identifying, cultivating and maintaining relationships and partnerships with key policy, research and communications stakeholders
5. Attending and providing oversight to the Social Investment Forum, as part of SIB’s secretariat and hosting
6. Writing, editing and producing engaging and relevant content at pace for web, social media and e-newsletters, as well as earned and paid channels
7. Management of any external suppliers of communications and policy activities, including agencies, designers, consultants and think tanks
8. Working with the Marketing Manager, Marketing and Events Coordinator, Business Development Manager and wider team to deliver successful external events with customers, stakeholders and partners including attendance at Party Conferences.

Core competencies
- Significant experience at a managerial level in a PR, marketing, external affairs or communications role

QuarterFive are delighted to be partnering with The Orpheus Centre, which supports young disabled adults to live and work as independently as they are able. They do this through developing their confidence and independent living skills, using arts-based, bespoke learning, work experience and supported living programmes delivered from their base in Surrey. All of their learners are learning disabled and some are also physically disabled.
The Orpheus Centre is located at a beautiful converted farm that provides teaching and performance spaces and self-contained accommodation. However, their success in enabling these young people to thrive means that they are over subscribed every year and have outgrown the current facilities.
The capital appeal will convert a building next to the Centre to allow for more learners to enrol, in particular more learners with more complex needs. Currently, the quiet phase is projected for 2024-2027, with the build phase being projected for 2027-2029.
The Head of Capital Appeal will sit on the SMT, reporting to the CEO, and be responsible for leading a small team of fundraisers also dedicated to raising funds for the build. While there will be a team to support, the Head of Capital Appeal will spend most of their time personally fundraising as well. There are existing opportunities, including a well-connected President (also the Founder), a Capital Appeal Committee which will be set up, and an existing pool of donors. A focus on new business, however, will also be crucial for the success of the project.
As Head of Capital Appeal, you will:
- Develop, implement and monitor the private and public phases of the capital appeal strategy to enable the Orpheus Centre to meet the appeal target
- Establish a high performing capital appeal committee of volunteers to cultivate and steward potential significant donors
- Deliver target income from a range of sources, primarily major donors, trusts and foundations and statutory sources, but not discounting other viable income streams
- Personally secure significant major gifts for the capital project
- Design, recruit and lead a team of fundraisers to support on fundraising for the capital project
- Research and identify potential funders for the capital project
- Work closely with the build project team, to ensure clear communication between the funding and the building of the project
- Provide timely reports for Senior Management Team and Trustees to facilitate effective cash flow management and decision making
Ideal skills and experience:
- Significant experience in a senior high value fundraising role
- Demonstrable experience of securing 5- and 6-figure major gifts
- Extensive track record in working with trusts, major donors and statutory funders
- Experience of line managing teams of fundraisers
- Ability to adapt to different audiences, including donors, senior volunteers, team members, learners and all colleagues in the wider organisation
- Experience in managing senior level volunteers and fundraising committees
- Understanding of disability language and issues

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial management
● Lead the setting, tracking and reporting of budgets and fundraising targets
● Maintain accurate records of income and expenditure on a cash and accrual basis
● Manage bookkeeping for the charity, including invoicing and bank reconciliations
● Keep accurate records of funding allocations, especially restricted and unrestricted income
● Work with our accountant to produce end-of-year accounts and prepare for audit
● Build strong relationships within The Economist Group finance team to support with financial management and compliance
● Ensure the charity remains tax compliant, including managing quarterly VAT returns and reviewing funding contracts
Operations, people and governance
● Build and maintain operational processes across the organisation which support the successful delivery of our work globally
● Support the team to accurately monitor and evaluate their progress towards targets
● Work with senior leadership and hiring managers to continually improve the recruitment and onboarding process

The Welfare Benefits Service provides free independent advice and assistance to all disabled residents and their carers who live and work in Hammersmith and Fulham borough. The service is for all ages, including parents and carers of disabled children.
We provide free advice and assistance, up to and including Tribunal level, on all Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) benefits, Tax Credits, and some local authority benefits.
Welfare Benefits Advisor will
- Provide high quality Welfare Benefits advice and casework and, as appropriate, representation at the 1st Tier Tribunals for disabled individuals of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.
- Write Mandatory Reconsideration requests and in a limited number of cases, write appeal submissions.
- Undertake direct welfare advice and casework.
- Maintain appropriate records of work undertaken using an appropriate electronic Welfare Benefits Recording and Information System via AoD’s Charity Log, and through the use of Excel
- Gather information to monitor and evaluate the service.
- Assist with funding applications / tender bids by providing basic factual information to Fund Raising Manager/CEO/Managers to enable them to apply for funding and also enable them to write funding/tender applications.
- Contribute to Welfare Benefits related publicity material, social media, reports for the Board of Trustees and other stakeholders and other documents as required.

Source, generate, edit, schedule and post written, visual, audio and video content that drives brand awareness, is shareable and encourages actions to generate income.
With guidance, deliver outstanding and innovative communications for different audiences and across multiple channels which align with hyh’s Comms plan.
Inspire, inform and motivate supporters to give to hyh as well as demonstrating the impact of their donations on beneficiaries.
Learn to manage a calendar programme of social media and website activity.
After training, act as the first point of contact for social media and our website, responding appropriately and championing and signposting people to the work of hyh
Create and update content for hyh’s website
Develop and grow TikTok content which is engaging and educational, becoming hyh’s expert on this channel
Create digital materials to support the Fundraising team across all income generation streams with their activities and campaigns throughout the year.
Over time, act as a brand champion within hyh, promoting the use of social media and encouraging greater understanding of the website and social media channels
Keep abreast of new developments, trends and technologies, identifying and proposing new digital opportunities for hyh.
Understand, evaluate and circulate social media and website analytics.
Develop digital projects to support delivery of hyh’s services to support young people facing homelessness

Are you a storyteller with a keen eye for detail?
We are looking for a creative written communicator with an excellent eye for detail to tell the story of The Listening Place, our volunteers and our visitors.
The Listening Place offers free, confidential, face-to-face support for people feeling suicidal, provided by highly trained volunteers using active listening skills. Over eight years, the charity has grown rapidly, with now over 800 volunteers delivering up to 150 appointments daily across three sites. TLP receives 750 new referrals every month and will provide support to 8000 people struggling with suicidal feelings this year. This growth, achieved without waiting lists, highlights how TLP balances ambition with a commitment to high-quality, person-centered support. With plans to expand to East London and strong donor and media interest, it’s an exciting time to join this effective, community-led service.
This is a pivotal role where you will be responsible for giving TLP a voice across external and internal communications. Through dependable, precise and creative communications, you will help TLP meet its three key communication objectives:
- To inspire and retain volunteers and supporters.
- To influence public and stakeholder opinion on how to deliver effective suicide prevention services.
- To help recruit new volunteers.
All your copy should be clear, concise and help deliver against one of these key objectives.
We are seeking an individual with an excellent eye for detail who is a self-starter, able to seek out stories and respond to opportunities as and when they arise. This means over the course of a day you could be covering an event, interviewing a volunteer, setting up targeted paid adverts or responding to messages from supporters.
Your success will be judged on your ability to deliver all communications with a meticulous attention for detail and a clear understanding of TLP’s voice.
Core Responsibilities:
The Communications Coordinator will:
Working under the direction of the Head of Fundraising and Communications, the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the development, delivery, analysis and growth of TLP’s communications through effective copy for internal and external stakeholders. This includes:
- Leading on day-to-day account management and content creation for organic and paid activity on TLP social media channels.
- Planning and executing activities for national campaigns including World Suicide Prevention Day and Mental Health Week.
- Working with and supporting teams from across the organisation to execute engaging internal and external communications and digital campaigns including monthly volunteer and supporter newsletters.
- To act as a point of contact for teams for communications related queries, maintaining a good understanding of approaches, channels and technologies in order to do this.
- Recognise, mitigate and appropriately escalate communications related incidents and risks including reputation management, information governance and sensitivity issues.
- Regularly reviewing website content, looking for ways to constantly improve user experience.
- Compiling regular monthly statistics and analytical reports, evaluating our online performance against agreed metrics.
- Ensure all records are held in compliance with GDPR and the Institute of Fundraising policies.

Experience:
Essential
- Working in a communications role, or demonstrable transferable experience/qualifications
- Experience of developing and delivering communications materials and information for wide and targeted audiences
- Experience of working across teams or with multiple stakeholders to coordinate the production of communications
- Planning and deploying paid-for social media, digital campaigns, and email marketing
- Content creation – for websites and social media channels (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter)
- Digital skills including Office 365 systems (inc. Teams and SharePoint), WordPress, Photoshop, Google ads and Canva
- Developing an engaging end to end digital customer experience.
Desirable
- Knowledge of the charity sector and the mental health landscape
- Analytics and data skills including Google Analytics
- Search engine optimisation.
Hours
22.5 hours a week, office hours, with occasional evening and weekend work to meet operational requirements.
Location
1 Cambridge Court, 210 Shepherd’s Bush Road, Hammersmith, London W6 7NJ and remote working
Reporting line
The Digital Communications Officer will report to the Head of Fundraising and Communications.
Salary: £17,955 per annum (£29,255 FTE) at 3 days a week plus benefits (3% employer contribution towards pension, 25 days annual leave (FTE) per annum (plus public holidays), Employee Assistance Programme, access to Medicash health insurance and critical illness cover.)
