At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, we support babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions.  Our aim is to reach every family that needs our help and to offer them the very best choice of care. Every year we need to raise £6.7m to keep our doors open and only around 17% of our income comes from government sources, the rest must be raised through fundraising activity. Our uncompromisable support services are wide ranging and bespoke to each family and include overnight care, music therapy, counselling, sibling support groups, end of life care and home visits.

The role:

ROLE OVERVIEW:
 
The Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager is responsible for leading and developing RABI’s philanthropy and partnerships donor base, focusing on building and nurturing relationships with major donors, trusts and foundations, corporate partners as well as legacy and in-memory supporters (larger funders).
 
This plays a pivotal role in shaping RABI’s fundraising strategy, identifying major funding opportunities and creating impactful engagement strategies to secure long-term financial support for the charity’s sustainability.
 
Relationship building is key to this position, communicating effectively with our donors by enhancing and strengthening relations through cultivation tactics and deepening relationships to ensure robust support from these influential stakeholders.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
• Develop and implement a comprehensive Philanthropy and Partnerships (P&P) fundraising strategy to drive RABI’s fundraising activities and support long-term sustainability. This includes overseeing the cultivation and stewardship of major donors, trusts and foundations, corporate partners as well as legacy and in-memory supporters (larger funders).

• Demonstrable experience in a senior fundraising role, with a proven track record in securing major funds from larger funders.
• Exceptional major donor management skills, with experience in donor stewardship, partnership development and engagement strategies that build long-term relationships.
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of targeting, segmentation and response analysis.
• Persuasive written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop compelling applications, proposals and donor communications. Capable of tailoring messaging for different audiences and ensuring clarity, consistency and emotional impact.

This role focusses on raising funds for Bowel Research UKs medical research projects and work that focuses on patient and public involvement. Funds raised will be a mix of restricted project funding and unrestricted funds that can support the organisations core operations.

You will need to work closely with colleagues in Research and Patient & Public Involvement to ensure you have a strong understanding of current funding needs and research successes. You will take the lead on seeking out new prospects and nurturing existing relationships to significantly grow income. You will achieve this by researching sources of funding, devising individually tailored applications, maintaining excellent communications with existing and potential donor trusts and foundations, delivering an agreed income target as well as growing funding from these sources.

The role will include researching relevant opportunities, identifying the most appropriate projects, writing and submitting applications and ensuring excellent donor management, development and reporting. Trusts and Foundations income is a cornerstone of Bowel Research UKs charitable income each year and is responsible for around a third of fundraised income. The organisation has assessed the trusts' function recently, the outcome of which shows that there is scope to significantly grow this area of activity. Full support will be given to the Trust Fundraising Manager to enable this growth to happen.

You will be a motivated self-starter able to write, budget and communicate effectively. The role of Helpline Advisor

For several years, Guts UK have provided information, support and guidance to our community over the phone and by email. This year, we’re formalising that service into a professional Helpline and are looking for someone to join our small, talented support team.

During the initial 6-month trial period, the Helpline phone lines will be open Monday to Friday, 10am to 2pm, but this may expand or change later in the year. Queries could be received via phone, email or web-query form.

​As a member of the Helpline team, you will offer on demand information, support, guidance and signposting primarily to enquirers living with, or caring for those with, digestive conditions and symptoms. The support offered will include receiving calls, emails and web form queries from people who are looking for more information about their digestive condition, need to know where they can turn to for support, or are waiting on a diagnosis and need help navigating how to get there. You will provide appropriate information, guidance and signposting to our own information and other external support organisations. As a charity, Guts UK covers all digestive symptoms and conditions, across the whole of the UK, and so no two days will be the same and queries will be diverse and interesting.

The role holder will man the Helpline (alongside others from the team) from 10am to 2pm (with a 30-minute lunch break) and during that time will receive, respond to and appropriately log phone calls, web-queries and emails.

You will be responsible for:   
Promote and champion our commitment to slow fashion principles, ethical sourcing and environmental responsibility.
Utilize your eye for design and style, to curate your donated product through great visual merchandising with enhanced feature displays and strong commercial windows to drive sales and footfall.
Keep up to date with the latest fashion trends and local market demands, identifying opportunities for growth.
Managing staff and volunteers where you'll get to work with some amazing people. Taking the lead in recruiting, training, managing and supporting volunteers and staff members to ensure the effective operation of the store.
Customer engagement and leading by coaching volunteers and staff to have great conversations with every customer on" Rounding up" their purchase, making an "add donation" for our charity and signing up for our loyalty scheme.
Ensuring sales targets are met and direct costs are kept within managed budgets.
Ensuring all financial reporting and management, cash handling, daily banking and security procedures are followed.
Ensuring donated goods are processed according to set standards and timeframes, and that pricing is in line with charity guidelines.

Key Criteria: 
Solid retail experience, preferably in fashion/clothing with a good understanding of the slow and sustainable fashion principle.
Experience in managing a team. Managing volunteers would be an advantage.
Comprehensive understanding of retailing and merchandising display.
Experience of cash handling and financial management procedures (including completion of sales records).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-first attitude and the ability to communicate with tact and discretion.
Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload, balancing competing demands.
Understanding of health and safety procedures in a retail environment.

We’re looking for a Corporate Partnerships Manager (Maternity Cover) to join our team, to steward existing partnerships and grow new connections, especially with those in the legal sector.  As well as running our Guardians’ network, you’ll arrange key supporter events and develop bespoke partnerships.

As Payroll Technician, your role will support the work of our highly acclaimed Professional Services team, providing payroll services to churches and Christian charities.

The Professional Services team at Stewardship is in great demand and is looking to build on the support it provides to UK churches and Christian charities. As a payroll technician, you will work alongside our award-winning Payroll Bureau team, with responsibility for building relationships with and serving a distinct group of Churches and Christian Charities.

Charitable trust grant-funding has a key role to play in this, with our particular focus on provision of long-term committed funding for the organisation.  

Our existing portfolio of charitable trust and foundation supporters includes a number of high-profile and high-value partnerships, sustained over decades in many cases.  

We’re now seeking to increase, diversify, and drive our trusts fundraising programme to the next level.
