Katherine Low Settlement is a busy, local charity that has been serving Battersea and the wider Wandsworth community since 1924. We are dedicated to building stronger communities and enable people to challenge and find ways out of poverty and isolation.

We run a range of our own community services to support older people and children, young people, and their families from refugee communities. We campaign for social change. We incubate and support other charities and social businesses to thrive. Each week we work with 30+ charities and community groups supporting more than 1,000 people.

Role Purpose: Lead strategic direction and operational management of KLS’ Refugee Family Programme, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, responsive service delivery, and community impact maximization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide clear leadership and management for KLS’ Refugee Family Programme, integrating previous projects into a cohesive, holistic approach.
• Manage programme budget and financial development, supporting fundraising efforts for sustainability.
• Lead the strategic planning and expansion of the Refugee Family Programme, enhancing community outreach, advocacy, education, mentoring, and club initiatives.
• Conduct ongoing horizon scanning and environmental analysis to identify growth opportunities and evolving community needs.
• Cultivate and sustain effective networks and partnerships to empower program participants.
• Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer to implement robust processes and systems for continuous improvement and impactful reporting.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Recruit, train, manage, and support program team members, conducting regular supervision sessions, appraisals, and training.

• Ensure adherence to KLS’ safeguarding policies and procedures across the program team, acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date member and project records using Salesforce.
• Manage program budget in collaboration with Senior Leadership and Finance Director, monitoring income, expenditure, and financial reporting to the Board of Trustees.
• Supervise the use of Salesforce database, ensuring data accuracy, integration with KLS’ systems, and compliance with data protection regulations.

Safeguarding:

• Embed safeguarding best practices across the program team, ensuring appropriate management and recording of safeguarding concerns.

Skills and Experience:

• Extensive leadership experience in strategic development of services for refugee communities, emphasizing education access, justice, and community integration.
• Proven ability in service planning and delivery for vulnerable groups, with a focus on children and young people.
• In-depth knowledge of refugee community issues, education rights, and barriers to access.

Job Purpose

This is a dynamic and exciting opportunity to shape the commercial future of our Students' Union.  You'll be at the forefront of driving revenue and innovation for the Union,  leading our Farnham bar and event operation, overseeing our campus art shops (one at each campus), and identifying exciting new revenue-generating opportunities. We are a charity that provides support to those living with young onset dementia in Berkshire, Surrey Heath, NE Hampshire, Farnham and Woking.  Services we provide are age-appropriate and meaningful activity workshops, 1:1 activity support, education courses and support groups.  Young onset dementia affects adults under the age of 65.  Nationally there are estimated to be 70.800 people living with young onset dementia, with an estimated 900 in Surrey and 679 in Berkshire.

Within this role you will support us in the delivery of our services, with a focus on the provision of workshops and 1:1 activity support (no personal care is required within this role).  Examples of workshops delivered within the community are katakanuing, singing, walking, reader groups and art.  You will work as part of a team delivering our goal to "think differently about dementia".  We are looking for someone with initiative, an interest in dementia, who is reliable, creative, fun and empathetic.

You will be working in a supportive, friendly, and welcoming team whilst having oversight of a caseload of women, who may be under the supervision of the National Probation Service or in custody, enhancing the offer of holistic support and advocacy services available to them throughout their journey.

Building relationships with other statutory and non-statutory agencies in local communities is vital to build referral pathways and provide a whole system approach to supporting individuals.

To carry out this work you will meet women in the community in your designated borough and co-locate with other agencies including the National Probation Service, as well as regularly attending Advance’s North London vibrant Women’s Centre/office space.

You will be a creative self-starter who will support the service and look for innovative solutions to support clients with complex needs. You are confident professional relationship builder and has good awareness of Safeguarding procedures. Strong Administration skills and understanding of compliant behaviours also experience of supporting. With good knowledge of the criminal justice system and awareness of other support provisions.

Relationship Management

Marketing and Communications  

• Contribute to Think Active’s Active Societies objective by aligning projects and work align with and enhance the work of the Marketing and Communications Lead.

About the role

Our Welfare Officers provide direct and impactful welfare support to RAF personnel and their immediate family. As a trusted and confidential source of support, you will assist our service users with challenges they are facing, from mental ill-health, difficult relationships, domestic abuse, financial and cost-of-living concerns, resettlement, housing, childcare, equality issues, bereavement, military discharge or deployment and many more - no day will be the same, as such this is a great opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within the Welfare sector.

Our intervention is provided with consent on a non-statutory basis, and you will work with and engage our service users to develop appropriate interventions for individual outcomes.

Our service is transitioning to become more accessible and inclusive, digital technology plays a key role in this, as such you will use digital technologies to complement and enhance processes and service user experience.

You will play an active role within the community, promoting the service through the delivery of presentations and representing the service at public engagement events. You will also work closely with RAF welfare teams, local authorities, health, education, civilian agencies, charities and other military organisations to ensure the best outcome for the service user.

ALDER HEY CHILDRENS CHARITY

Job title: Philanthropy Assistant

Salary: £25,307 - £29,634

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (flexible working will be considered)

Location: Mix of home working and office based (office is at Alder Hey, Liverpool)

The charity is currently conducting a four-day working week trial, due to end on 30th September 2024. This means that, for example, staff previously working 37.5 hours a week are now working 30 hours a week to enable a four-day working week. The trial is monitoring the benefits of a four-day working week against productivity. We are confident that by embracing a more flexible and balanced approach to work, we can continue to create a thriving and fulfilling work environment while driving growth and success for our charity. Alder Hey Children’s Charity raises vital funds to help make Alder Hey Children’s Hospital a truly world-class, patient-friendly hospital for the 450,000 patients and families we care for every year.

The charity helps to fund a range of activities and projects that are designed to enhance and improve the lives of our amazing young patients. This includes the funding of specialist medical equipment to ensure our brilliant surgeons and clinical staff have the most up to date and cutting edge technology available and funding hi-tech distraction equipment designed and proven to reduce pain and anxiety in our patients. The postholder will work closely with the Philanthropy Support Lead to provide operational support and administration for the team, including events, donor meetings and visits, prospect research, data and use of the charity CRM (Salesforce).

Key Responsibilities will include:

· Provide support for the Charity with a programme of philanthropy events; from individual visits and tours of the hospital for donors, private dinners, through to larger events such as Gala Balls.

· Build strong relationships with colleagues and clinicians in the Trust to support, coordinate and plan events.

· Liaise with venues and third-party suppliers to ensure that events are delivered to the highest standards.

· Help to prepare event briefings for Charity and Trust colleagues, so that all participants understand their role and contribute effectively.

· Provide administration support for the philanthropy team ensuring all work is of a high standard, professional and accurate.

· Writing and sending out personalised thank you letters and cards.

· Diary management, minute taking and meeting organisation.

· Keeping the charity’s supporter database accurate and up to date.

· Support with preparing data for philanthropy mailings and event lists, including recording details on Salesforce.

· Undertake prospect research, ensuring all processes are compliant with our privacy policy, data protection legislation and prospect research best practice.

· Be an active and supportive member of the Alder Hey Children’s Charity team, contributing to the team’s development and working collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers.

· Be an outstanding advocate for Alder Hey Children’s Charity in line with the core values of the organisation.

· Any other reasonable duties as required by your line manager.

The charity is currently conducting a four-day working week trial, due to end on 30th September 2024. This means that, for example, staff previously working 37.5 hours a week are now working 30 hours a week to enable a four-day working week. The trial is monitoring the benefits of a four-day working week against productivity. We are confident that by embracing a more flexible and balanced approach to work, we can continue to create a thriving and fulfilling work environment while driving growth and success for our charity. Role Profile

You’ll work in a multifunctional, three person project team alongside a Digital Strategy Manager and Digital Creative Expert. The three of you will cover everything needed to execute your projects, coordinating with our technology team and working with external design capacity to deliver outstanding results for your partners, and renew and grow your partnerships.

The teams are designed to be flexible and nimble, chopping and changing who does what to best meet the needs of the project and the capacity of each team member. However, each role has a set of primary areas of expertise which you’ll typically be in charge of on most projects. As the team’s expert in those areas, it’s your responsibility to make sure your team does them to an exceptional standard, whether you’re delivering them yourself or supporting a team member to cover them on a given project.

As a Digital Strategy Expert, your primary areas of expertise are all things strategy, project management and delivery. Your key role in the team is to make sure the execution of our projects is smooth, efficient and high quality, whether that’s through smart strategic planning, tight project management or insightful data analysis. As well as taking ads management and email and page builds on some projects, you’ll also be called on to support the DCE with copywriting and potentially the DSM with proposal writing.

What you’ll do as part of our team

• Project management

  • Overseen by the Digital Strategy Manager, you’ll manage projects from conception through to build, coordinating work from both our creative and tech teams

  • Being the key point of contact for our partners on specific project strands, communicating with them via email, ClickUp, Slack and on video calls 

  • Ensuring all projects you manage are delivered on time and to scope, flagging any over-servicing or scope changes with the DSM

  • As the person that is most in contact with our partners across project delivery, you play a key role in ensuring we build strong relationships of trust and longevity

  • Develop strategy for the projects on which you lead, work with the DSM as needed to ensure we are always delivering strategic excellence

Abilities and experience you’ll need to have

• 1.5+ years’ experience working in digital campaigning or digital fundraising, with proven experience of delivering results against goals 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience of managing multiple stakeholders and building strong working relationships across functions 

• Being comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

• Experience of using digital tools to build and send mass emails, comfort with managing lists 

• Excellent organisation and attention-to-detail with ability to juggle multiple priorities and keep to tight deadlines 

• Knowledge of how to plan and deliver a fair A/B experiment

• Experience of managing projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and to scope 

• Experience of managing ads in Meta, and proven ability to interpret the data to optimise against goals

Benefits and location 

Salary: £34,162 if you live inside London, £30,502 (plus £3,000 travel expense allowance) if you live outside London. Under our Employee Ownership Trust model, all team members will also receive an equal share of the profits each year. The amount will depend on how much profit is made.

Contract Term: This is a permanent, full time contract.

Hours: We work a 30-hour 4-day week, from Monday to Thursday. Please note - as this is a full time role, you are not permitted to undertake any additional regular paid work on the Friday. 

Location: You can work remotely from anywhere in the UK or use our office in London Fields, East London. You will need to be able to come to London once or twice a month for in-person meetings, otherwise most of our meetings are held via video conferencing and all our workflow is built to be remote-first.

Digital Communications Intern – Public Affairs and Communications

About this role

Working in ODI’s Public Affairs and Communications (PAC) department, the Digital Communications Intern will support the digital team with producing and marketing content for ODI’s core digital channels – spanning the website, social media and newsletters.

The internship presents a fantastic opportunity to get experience of working on different aspects of digital communications, with a particular focus on writing and dissemination.

Tasks will include drafting social media posts, helping to produce digital assets, compiling newsletter content, proofreading, and identifying opportunities for content development and promotion. Providing day-to-day support for the digital team, you will also gain hands-on experience of the ODI website’s Content Management System, among other products.

You will have a demonstrable interest in both digital communications, particularly content creation, and global affairs, and use your skills to help deepen the online engagement and reach of ODI’s work.

Key responsibilities include:

• Helping to compile content and draft copy for ODI’s weekly newsletter.
• Supporting with the production and digital marketing of ODI’s fortnightly Think Change podcast – including by proofing transcripts, identifying teaser clips and drafting social media promotion toolkits.

• Sourcing photos and coordinating the production of digital assets.
