- Provide legal and procedural advice to various Church of England bodies, including legislative and regulatory activities.
- Support the Designated Officer in clergy discipline matters, including investigations, case preparation, and court advocacy.
- Liaise with external law firms on litigation strategy and dispute resolution.
- Contribute to national policy and code of practice development.
- Act as a registrar during General Synod sessions, offering legal advice and managing legislative programs.
- Represent the Legal Office in committees and meetings.
- Undertake special assignments or project work as needed.
- Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation to work from the office (Church House, London or The Old Brewhouse - Bishopthorpe, York) 1-3 days per week.
You will need to be/have a:
- Qualified solicitor or barrister with at least 2-3 years of post-qualification experience.
- Minimum 2:1 in first degree (any subject). We will consider applicants who do not have a 2:1 degree if you can show satisfactory evidence of equivalent high-level academic and/or professional achievement (for example in GLD, LPC, or BPC results).
- Able to juggle competing priorities within a restricted deadline.
- Good grasp of legal research methodology, including in unfamiliar areas of law.
- Ability to work individually without supervision, and as part of a team
- Willingness to work proactively and take the initiative in developing and improving complex processes without unnecessary formality.
- An interest in, or willingness to develop an interest in, legal project management and legal technology (Desirable).
- Some professional experience in dispute resolution or professional investigations (Desirable).
- A working understanding of one or more of the following areas of non-contentious practice: employment, data protection/regulatory, and/or corporate/governance (Desirable).
- Experience working with clients in the public, government services, or third sector would be a plus (Desirable).
- Experience of practice in criminal or regulatory law (you may need to undertake some court advocacy in this role), plus at least one of:
- ecclesiastical law
- administrative and public law.

- A market rate salary of £73,000 per annum, plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.
- 25 days annual leave (increasing to 30 days within 5 years) plus eight bank holidays and three additional days (pro-rated if working part-time).

Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service (Rising Sun) is an independent charity in Kent working to prevent domestic abuse and improve the lives of survivors and their children suffering from its effects. We have an ambitious vision for a world in which women and children live free from actual or threatened domestic abuse and all forms of violence.
Our team provide a range of services to adults and children who’ve experienced domestic abuse. We understand the impact of domestic abuse on survivors and so we listen to individual needs and respond in a trauma informed way. We provide one-to-one support and also deliver therapeutically informed group programmes to help survivors to recognise healthy/unhealthy behaviours in relationships and to understand the impact of domestic abuse. Bringing survivors together validates experiences and enables them to draw strength from one another.
As a Rising Sun Administrator you will be a key member of our frontline team working alongside specialist domestic abuse workers and providing essential support as a valued member of the team.
You will be involved in a range of tasks that contribute to the smooth running of our services, including processing incoming referrals and answering our main office phoneline, dealing with referral queries as well as supporting survivors to access support. You will also be involved in coordinating our group programmes for survivors, and our One Stop Shop drop ins.
As the first point of contact for both professionals and survivors you will be instrumental in ensuring they feel heard and supported, through your empathetic and understanding response.
In addition to day to day administrative tasks you will have the opportunity to attend training and learn about our domestic abuse services and the Rising Sun Framework which underpins everything we do. We provide outcome focussed interventions that support resilience and / or recovery. You will be a warm, empathic individual with an ability to relate to young people and work as part of a team.
Off Centre provides early access help for young people age 16-25 with moderate to severe mental health problems. It facilitates the transition to adult services where appropriate, improves the mental well-being of young people by providing early interventions including individual, time limited and outcome focussed psychotherapy / counselling / arts psychotherapies, accessible drop in provision, therapeutic group work and keywork support.
Main Responsibilities:
· To carry out clinical and holistic, initial assessments of service users’ needs and suitability for service, including assessing risk and safeguarding issues, co-design outcome focussed treatment plan with young adult, utilizing agreed assessment and outcome tools such as CORE 10, PHQ 9 and GAD 7.
· To carry and maintain a caseload of service users receiving individual counselling / psychotherapy applying specialist knowledge and techniques of counselling / psychotherapy where appropriate during interventions. In addition, undertake the associated case management and administrative work in accordance with clinical and funding requirements. You will also co-facilitate the weekly Drop In on Thursday evenings.
· To keep excellent and up-to-date records of work with service users at all times, adhering to confidentiality and information sharing protocols in conjunction with safeguarding requirements.
· To advise and liaise with external partners involved in the mental health and wellbeing needs of clients. Contribute locally as well as regionally, to strategic planning discussions and ensure collaborative working with statutory and voluntary agencies and service providers to ensure a high quality unified service. Ensure that service-users’ views are heard and understood and inform and influence the development of local mental health services’ provision and practice.
Main Requirements (for details check the job description and person specification):
· UK recognised Psychotherapy/Counselling (MA desirable) or equivalent qualification with substantial post-qualifying clinical experience in delivering evidence based psychotherapies with young people or young adults (ideally both) with moderate to severe mental health issues, and with a focus on quality and effectiveness.
· Accredited to a relevant professional Psychotherapy/Counselling body (BACP/UKCP/HCPC).
· You will be able to demonstrate continued professional development and advanced post qualification training in relevant areas which could include areas such DBT, Systemic, Mindfulness and/or EMDR approaches and interventions.
· Appointments are subject to Family Action receiving an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service that we consider acceptable.

The Foundation for International Law for the Environment (FILE) was set up in 2018 to be the major philanthropic re-granter scaling up legal action globally to tackle the climate and biodiversity crises.
We work as movement enablers, campaign strategists, and impact funders, using the law in pursuit of three interconnected system-level goals:
- Reducing net greenhouse gas emissions to protect the climate
- Safeguarding nature
- Delivering climate and environmental justice
We pursue these goals not just by supporting legal action directly. We believe in growing the strength of the climate and biodiversity legal movement globally, and in enabling people and movements to use legal action to shift narratives.
As movement enablers, campaign strategists, and impact funders, we at FILE do not ourselves bring litigation. As a regrantor, FILE is not an endowed foundation, but rather we engage in fundraising to secure resources to support our partners globally.
The Role
This is an exciting role with a wide remit where you will be responsible, under the supervision of the General Counsel for a range of work, including the following: general contracting, corporate governance, compliance, support on policies, and legal advice on a wide range of subjects.
Offering a wide view of the whole organisation, this is not a role for a heads down only technical lawyer – you’ll need to have your finger in many pies and display a wide array of skills. In return, you’ll get to be involved in a variety of interesting and engaging projects.
Key Responsibilities
Contracts
- Under the supervision of the General Counsel, review, draft and negotiate a wide variety of legal documents and agreements, including, but not limited to technical aspects of donor contracts, grant agreements, supply of goods and services agreements, IT agreements, and property leases.
- Draft, user friendly templates and guidance; improve contracting processes.
- Support in the drafting and delivery of contract management training to embed a good contract culture within the organisation.
Governance
- Support the General Counsel to manage governance queries and provide support to entities in complying with their governance obligations,
- Assist with the preparation of board papers and resolutions as required,
- Support the General Counsel on insurance review and renewals.
Policy/Compliance
- Support the General Counsel to design, consult on, draft, review and/or input into key organisational corporate policies, processes and /or guidance, including but not limited to fraud and bribery, data protection, document retention, terrorism, money laundering, due diligence.
- Input into the design of, and provide training on key policies, processes and legal principles, including but not limited to legal privilege and confidentiality;
- Work with all departments to ensure implementation/compliance mechanisms are in in place and function as they should.
General Law and Advice
- Advise on contractual law, charity law, company law, lobbying, data protection and other laws and regulations as required.
- Support FILE’s trademark management.
- Conduct legal research as required and support the General Counsel in keeping informed and up to date on any applicable new or developing laws and regulations
Other
- Support the maintenance of the Legal Team’s intranet page, including maintenance of policies and templates in a user friendly form for all members of FILE.
- Maintain relationships with external law firms and nurture relationships with pro bono providers.

The Children's Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We're there for children, every step of the way.
This role sits within our Youth Impact Domain, which works to provide immediate one-to-one and group support for Young People who urgently need it. Your role will be to help us maintain and develop innovative practice to support our work in our services around the country.
Steer Clear is a service, commissioned by West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner and is designed to work on tackling serious youth violence. We offer 1-1 outreach support and access to positive diversionary activities in local areas.
This is an expanding service following a successful pilot and we're looking for individuals who are passionate about creating a safer world for our young people.
In this role, time will be spent supporting young people where they may be intelligence of them having carried a bladed article or being pulled in by exploiters and organised crime groups.
This role is for people with a passion in supporting vulnerable young people on a 1-1 basis, in raising their aspirations, building their confidence, working together with professionals to ensure the most appropriate, robust and holistic support is offered to meet each individual's needs. A key part of this role will be your ability to positively impact the lives of children and young people.
You will need to be able to engage with professional colleagues, have presentation skills, and be able to bring people together around mutual goals.
Although the contracts are home based, there will be a lot of travel across Shropshire area. Although there is no specific office base, you will be part of a geographically based team and will be well support by the management team and all of your colleagues.

About the Project
Hertfordshire Mind Network (HMN) is a leading countywide provider of wellbeing services.
We are commissioned by Hertfordshire County Council as one of the providers of Counselling for Depression (CFD) for Hertfordshire NHS Talking Therapies. Referrals are received directly from the GP or HPFT Wellbeing Team and are for Hertfordshire residents aged 16 and above, experiencing mental distress in relation to common mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression.
We also offer an affordable counselling service, Talk It Out, providing short term general counselling for up to 10 sessions. Counsellors under this service are volunteers and are either trainees in placement, or qualified.
We offer a flexible blend of face-to-face, online and telephone sessions and will be developing a new group counselling offer.
About the Role
A new opportunity for two Senior CFD Counsellor roles has been developed due to the expansion of the service. This post is integral to the continuous delivery of our counselling services and will provide further clinical support and day to day oversight to ensure the smooth running of the services. The postholder will work flexibly across the county, dependent on service needs, holding their own NHS Counselling 1:1 caseload and delivering group counselling either face to face from one of our Centres across Hertfordshire, online, or via telephone.
They will conduct initial contacts with clients, carry out counselling and risk assessments and allocate appropriate clients to volunteer counsellors for the Talk It Out service. They will support the counsellors and wider team with any clinical concerns, or safeguarding and ensure that they have a positive, supportive, safe and robust experience of working within a counselling service.
The postholder will use their initiative to manage service demand and work with the Counselling Manager to report on the service’s performance, impact and evaluation. They will keep timely, detailed and accurate records, following organisational processes diligently. They will also ensure any concerns regarding clients accessing the service are escalated and managed efficiently, keeping the client at the centre of their decision making and ensuring that they receive a caring and supportive experience during their journey through the service.
Practical requirements for the Role
- Up-to-date Enhanced Adult and Child DBS check
- Proof of suitable level of qualifications as outlined in the person specification

Job Purpose
Carers Manchester Contact Point (CMCP) is the first point of contact for unpaid carers seeking information, advice and support to help them with their caring role.
The service delivers a free confidential helpline for carers weekdays (Monday – Friday, 10am – 4pm). These times are subject to change, based on the needs and requirements of carers using the service.
The aim of this role is to be part of a team providing a comprehensive information, advice and support to carers in Manchester. The post holder will work alongside colleagues from Gaddum and potentially other organisations to be the first contact in a busy service providing advice via a telephone advice line and managing referrals made through digital sources. They will provide information and advice and refer more complex issues to the appropriate agencies delivering the Manchester Carers Pathway.
Key responsibilities
Advice giving
- Answering telephone calls into a central helpline offering support and guidance to unpaid carers in Manchester.
- Provide relevant and meaningful support and information to unpaid carers utilising internal and external resources.
- Inform carers about carers assessments and refer where necessary.
- Inform carers about emergency grants available and refer where necessary.
- Ensure all advice and support given is delivered in a timely manner to suit the needs of carers calling the helpline whilst balancing waiting callers.
Follow-up support
- Refer unpaid carers to local services to access local and culturally appropriate support in their area.
- Refer carers to Adult Social Care for Carers Assessments to discuss and improve their caring situation.
- Signpost carers to relevant services in Manchester suited to their individual need.
- Complete relevant grant applications for carers using the service where needed.
- Use Carers Manchester Contact Point and other reliable and accurate resources to find, interpret and communicate relevant information to carers
- Research and explore options and implications so that carers can make informed decisions.
- Write and maintain detailed case records for all casework completed.
- Collect required data for statistical monitoring and report preparation.
- Complete the required training to comply with quality assurance processes.
The post-holder will be required to undertake other tasks as reasonably directed by the CMCP Coordinator, which will usually be commensurate with the skills and experience of the post-holder.
