Key Responsibilities for this role

• To support the Service Development Manager, Skills and Activities Coordinator, Support Staff and Volunteers in leading the development of the Stud Nursery as a viable social enterprise
• To ensure there is a weekly, monthly and seasonal horticulture plan in place (created in partnership with the Support Workers) which reflects the resources needed for client activities, product sales development and events
• To advise and support the Skills and Activities Coordinator in developing practical skills and/or qualification for people/groups using and supporting the sites development to encourage independence and empowerment
• To mentor and coach those using the sites services to lead and shape the sites programme of development as a sustainable community space and social enterprise.
• Work one Saturday per month, as agreed with the Service Development Manager, to open the nursery to volunteer project gardeners, and as a produce sale point to the local community
• In collaboration with the Skills and Activities Coordinator and Admin Support, to ensure all Health and Safety requirements are met, including site and individual risk assessments, and regularly reviewed to ensure a level of professionalism is being kept at all times
• To manage the Support Workers and Skills and Activities Coordinator, and support the charity’s drive toward values-based recruitment and leadership of its staff, volunteers and those using its services and to ensure staff recognition is held as a core value.

Salary: £27,140 per annum for 4 days (28 hours) per week or £33,926 per annum 5 days (35 hours) per week

A day where all of Income Generation come into the office. You can work remotely for the rest of the time. Equally, you may prefer to work from the office full-time. We encourage all colleagues to visit member hospices to help inform our work and you may be able to work from there. 

Contractually this role is London-based.

Contract: Permanent, either part time of 4 days (28 hours) per week or full time (35 hours per week) options available.

The Team: 

We are a team of three that sit within the wider Income Generation and Grants directorate. The Compassionate Employers team includes the Compassionate Employers Programme Lead, Corporate Development Manager and the Compassionate Employers Executive.

Current corporate partnerships include several ‘charity of the year’ relationships, conferences and events, sponsorship, cause-related marketing partnerships, a supplier directory and a jobs board. As well as driving positive change for people affected by terminal illness and bereavement in the workplace, Compassionate Employers is an important income generation stream and ‘door-opener’ for Hospice UK.

Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. The Deputy Director of Philanthropy will play a pivotal role in advancing MAP's mission by leading and expanding our fundraising efforts across trusts and foundations, major donors and corporate partnerships in the UK and internationally. About the role

We’re looking for a Fundraising Engagement Manager to join our Regional Fundraising team.

This is a role of variety, opportunity and innovation, and we are looking for someone who embraces change and constantly strives to achieve more.

You will maximise income for Young Live vs Cancer by coaching our supporters to reach their goals, whilst seeking out new fundraising opportunities for your geographical area. This role sits within the ‘Regional Engagement’ team and we need someone with natural customer service skills who wants to deliver an excellent experience to all of their supporters. Your team of supporters will range from volunteers and individuals, to groups and local corporates.

South & West Yorkshire is an area filled with some of our most committed supporters but there is still so much opportunity to grow corporate support across the counties. Our Social Workers support families from Sheffield and Leeds hospitals, so building relationships with these teams are a must.

Candidates should live within South & West Yorkshire, in one of the following counties: Bradford, Doncaster, Halifax, Leeds, Sheffield, Oldham or Wakefield.

Your role

This role is crucial in helping us raise funds to underpin our new 3 year strategy and to reach even more midwives and student midwives with our awards.  Reporting to The Executive Director you will take forward our fundraising strategy in our three key areas which grows our income and deepens relationships with our existing donors.  We have a dedicated legacy strategy in place and your role will be to move this forward.  We want you to explore ways in which we can use our learning legacy ( 30 years of funding awards)  to both raise awareness and funds and to be involved as we move forward in appointing a new Patron and Ambassadors and help us maximise their impact.

About you

Have a proven track record of successful fundraising within a UK charity preferably working at national level, in one or more of these areas: individuals, corporates , legacies, community.

With over three decades of experience, we provide a comprehensive range of services including welfare support, immigration and legal advice, education, counselling, and career guidance.  

RAK employs 15 staff and currently has nearly 200 volunteers. In 2023/24 more than 2,000 people benefited from our services:

• 305 clients attended our ESOL classes

As the CEO of Refugee Action Kingston, you'll lead our organisation in supporting refugees and people seeking asylum in south west London to lead fulfilled and independent lives. Your responsibilities will include:  

Strategic leadership  

• Developing and implementing annual plans aligned with our strategy, in collaboration with the Board of Trustees, to achieve desired outcomes.  

• Maintaining efficient systems for the charity's operations, ensuring good governance and financial sustainability.  

• Overseeing all aspects of organisational management including finances, resources, services, and communications, in cooperation with trustees.

• Working closely with trustees to direct and deliver RAK's objectives according to the charity's strategy.

• Provide strategic legal advice to SCUK's UK Impact, Global Programmes, Fundraising, and Policy, Advocacy and Campaigns Teams on funding arrangements and agreements with donors, and contracts with corporate partners, implementing partners and service providers (e.g. IT, Facilities, Finance, consultancy agreements).
• Advise SCUK staff on legal issues and risks arising from SCUK's operations, including in relation to charity fundraising laws and charity governance; fundraising and marketing communications and events; marketing, advertising, media and defamation matters; data protection, intellectual property and employment issues.
• Provide strategic and pragmatic legal support and advice on legal compliance matters, including anti-terrorism and sanctions compliance requirements, anti-fraud, bribery and corruption matters, and data protection laws and compliance requirements.
• Develop, advise on, promote, implement and maintain policies, practices and procedures to ensure compliance with legal compliance requirements, good corporate governance and the effective management of legal risk.

About the role

This is an awesome role focussed on improving our ways of working and processes when it comes to those who support us. We want all of our supporters to have a first class experience when they decide to donate their time and/or money to supporting children and young people with cancer and their families. However we know that as an organisation we have more to do to make this happen and the time is now.

Working in Income Generation, this role will take a recently conducted diagnostic carried out by a business improvement consultant and not only work through the next steps but make change happen, prioritising the areas with the biggest wins. This role really will have a lasting legacy in the organisation.

We're not just looking for someone to map change, this person will lead operational design and process re-engineering that transforms the Income Generation directorate and it's workforce into high achievers. 

You’ll be based within the Project Management Office (PMO), a supportive team of professionals that lead transformational change across the organisation as well as corporate planning. What will I be doing?

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.

• Building on the diagnostics carried out already within Income Generation directorate to optimise organisational design and scope improvements. 
• Using the diagnostics to identify pain areas, develop a sequenced plan to tackle these issues and then implement the plan to improve performance, processes and services i.e. “getting hands dirty”.
• Embedding a culture of improvement in the organisation and developing these capabilities within the workforce.
• All of these activities will involve facilitating workshops, engaging audiences with tailored communications, debating and negotiating ideas with leaders, managing governance, risks and dependencies, evaluating progress etc. 

What do I need? 

The key skills we’re looking for in this role are:

• Experience of delivering transformational change by using process improvement principles & methodologies such as TQM, Kaizen, Lean Six Sigma to design services and processes that deliver value, efficiency, higher quality, lower costs and better results
• Ability to do big picture thinking and drive the change that is needed, don’t sit back and react to the change that is happening.
• Challenging directly with assertive communication style balanced with caring deeply through consultative and listening skills. 
• Being curious,  looking beyond the obvious to get the real picture.
• Being proactive to get stuff done but in a flexible way, not being tied to a solution and having a healthy dose of pragmatism
• Strong analytical and evaluation skills.
• Creative thinker and ability to encourage innovation amongst colleagues
• Ability to deal with ambiguity and make smart decisions with limited information and changing priorities as well as support people to define issues.

In line with a refresh of our Help and Hope strategy to 2030 we are investing in and expanding our Evaluation and Impact function and appointing a new Head of Evaluation and Impact to lead the team and develop the whole organisations approach to understanding impact. This is in line with significant investments in our data capability and in our culture as a learning organisation. The person in this role will be a crucial part of developing this capability and driving real change in the experience of dementia.
 
You will:

- Lead our Evaluation and Impact team in carrying our evaluation of all our impact – through our service delivery, policy and influencing and research.
- Build the teams capability, tools and skills
- Work with colleagues in Strategy, Planning, Performance, data and technology to develop our capability to measure, analyse and learn from our impact.
- Work with colleagues in strategic evidence, Policy and Income and Engagement to help articulate our impact in engaging ways

This is a homeworking role, but you may be required to travel to attend meetings, events and team-days, so you must reside in the UK, have the correct right to work documents to work in the UK and be comfortable/willing to travel to our offices (London or Birmingham) if/when required.

- Be confident in looking long term and big picture, aligning impact evaluation and learning with multi-year planning.
- Be a corporate influencer, able to engage colleagues and drive change in other teams where needed to develop an organisation wide development in Evaluation and impact.
- Be an experienced and skilled manager with a history of leading high performing teams.

Person Specification

- Verbal and written communication skills to liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- IT skills and extensive experience/knowledge on using Microsoft packages for book-keeping tasks.
