The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and driven to execute tasks efficiently. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be responsible for clearly conveying TLG’s vision, inspiring supporters to join our regular giving scheme and increase their level of giving as ‘Hope Givers’.

About the role

Sightsavers’ Trusts and Corporate Partnerships team is excited to be expanding its team in response to growing demands and opportunities in the trusts & foundation sector. We are recruiting for two additional Trusts & Foundations Advisors to be key contributors to the development of Sightsavers trusts and foundations programme. They will play a crucial role in the successful recruitment and cultivation of new business, while also managing a portfolio of existing trust and foundation donors primarily based in the UK, U.S and Europe.

In this role, the Advisor will be instrumental in contributing towards the team’s annual income target and supporting additional planned growth in the coming years.

Responsibilities

• Manage and cultivate relationships with a portfolio of key trust and foundation donors for Sightsavers (up to 7-figure funding agreements) via proposals, mailings, reports, telephone or face-to-face meetings as appropriate, and coordinate donor visits, dealing with CEOs, Directors, and Trustees.
• Develop key external and internal relationships and donor engagement activities for the achievement of planned objectives with these donors.
• Research, identify, prioritise, and develop personalised engagement plans and donor strategies to cultivate new trust prospects in targeted global markets. Lead on cultivating relationships with CEOs, Directors, and Trustees, with the aim of establishing additional high-value funding relationships.
• Work proactively across the organisation, including cross-culturally, to coordinate, develop, and deliver a high standard of compelling project proposals and reports ready for submission to donors whilst ensuring excellent grant/contract management to existing donor relationships.
• Actively participate in the networks surrounding trusts and foundations, sharing information, insights, opportunities, and fundraising materials produced.
• Represent Sightsavers and/or support staff delegations at conferences and networks to engage with and cultivate new donor relationships.
• Contribute to team, departmental, and wider organisational systems development and initiatives.

The Advisor will possess strong research skills to identify and prioritise new trust and foundation prospects in global markets. They are proactive in cross-team collaboration, adept at delivering compelling project proposals and reports, and committed to continuous improvement. Their active participation in networks and drive to ensure the best representation of Sightsavers at conferences and meetings highlights their dedication to cultivating new donor relationships.

Jobholder Requirements

Essential

• Relevant experience working in the charity sector, ideally in international development.
• Experience of long-term grant/contract management of significant funders/clients.
• Proven success in personally cultivating new relationships with prospective donors/clients and maintaining relationships with existing donors/clients.
• Demonstrative experience of excellent written skills, including proposals, bids, and reports for external audiences.
• Proven success in creating successful funding proposals.
• Knowledge of good fundraising practice.
• Experience of in-person networking at conferences or face-to-face meetings with senior trusts and foundations staff/board.
• Understanding of and interest in charity sector and international development issues.
• First-class presentation and writing skills, including preparation of proposals, project budgets, and reports with excellent attention to detail.
• Research experience, including the development of engagement plans.

Role Overview

The Senior Fundraising Officer will manage and deliver all fundraising activities for the Suzy Lamplugh Trust, securing general and restricted funds from a range of sources including small and medium charitable Trusts and Foundations, government departments, corporate partners, organisations with CSR programs and potentially individuals, and support the delivery of the integrated fundraising strategy for the Trust, ensuring continued growth over the next three years and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research prospective funders, doors and sponsors and work closely with senior management, and colleagues in the Operations, Policy & Campaigning, and Finance teams to develop effective cases for support.
• Research and approach prospective funders that are either completely or partially aligned with the work of the Trust and determine if applications can be made.
• Manage the process of raising unrestricted funds through letters or online applicaitions to smaller Trusts or CSR funds, ensuring outcomes and feedback received is captured on the CRM and the annual fundraising plan.
• Write funding bids, proposals and applications forms, effectively communicating the work and impact of the Trust with existing and potential new funders.
• Oversee grant stewardship to best manage existing relationships and pave the way for repeat or new funding.
• Develop and grow the supporter base, working closely with the Trust senior management team to increase support from other organisations at grass-roots level.
• Collaborate with internal colleagues and partner agencies to ensure correct data is captured on funded activities and captured on the CRM.
• Manage funder reports by working with report-owners across different teams to maintain timely, accurate and  detailed report submissions, in accordance with terms of grants held.
• Manage, maintain and present the rollover fundraising plan at bi-weekly team meetings, ensuring all approaches and applications are captured on this plan, as well as the CRM.

Special Requirements

• This role is hybrid, initially requiring on-site attendance at our London office until the successful completion of the first probation review (typically 3 months).

The Role

The Social Value Specialist will support SNG to embed impact measurement and social value into teams across the organisation, providing a central, efficient point of contact that leads on developing systems, processes and continuous service improvement.

You will engage with supply chain partners to ensure the delivery of social value in contracts and enable seamless customer service using digital platforms and relationships with community partners.

Connect with team members across the organisation to deliver impact reports and support in creating our annual ESG report.

The Social Value Specialist will report to the Social Value Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, plan and implement a community investment evaluation and monitoring framework, in direct alignment with the community foundation strategy and strategy and the corporate plan
• Work collaboratively across the multi-disciplinary community investment directorate and with other internal teams in the customer directorate across localities to embed a framework for social impact and outcomes recording
• Support the Social Value Manager to provide regular social impact and environmental social, governance (ESG) reporting to the communities' leadership team and to senior management and board when required
• Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation methods and processes for Community Foundation projects and roll out good practice to colleagues and external partners so we can effectively demonstrate our Social Impact
• Lead and support internal teams and external partners in the upload of data such as KPIs onto impact measurement platform for the business, ensuring that information is accurate and easily accessible when required
• Demonstrate strong project management skills to lead and oversee project teams across SNG and with external partners that will bring in external funding
• Build and maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders, including funders, businesses, local authorities and national agencies as required by the Head of Service and managers
• Work closely with the communications team to enable a coordinated communications approach that raises the profile of SNG's work in communities
• Prepare and present written, financial and statistical reports to internal and external bodies as required and ensure funders requirements are met
• Demonstrate everyone safe and well everywhere, every day by making health and safety a primary consideration in your decision making

 What we need from you

A good understanding of HACT's Wellbeing Valuation and Social Value Insight would be an advantage, but this is not essential. It would be great if you have some knowledge or experience of working in communities, supply chains and or, monitoring and evaluation.

• Supporting activity across North Hampshire is a key element of this role and travel throughout the region will be expected. Due to the geography of the area, and varying times of community activity some areas may not be accessible by public transport so use of your own car will be essential.

As we start to deliver on our new funding portfolio we established a new Portfolio Development Team to sit at the heart of the Fund’s England directorate. This team sets the direction for our funding, ensuring our whole funding portfolio is delivering on our four community-led missions; our commitment to take an equity based approach to tackling inequality; and our ambition to be more than a funder. 

England Portfolio Development Team

The permanent England Portfolio Development Team is taking forward the new England portfolio, ensuring we are delivering impact through our current funding portfolio whilst also looking to the future and developing new funding initiatives and ways of working to meet our 2030 vision. 

This small team of eight works across the whole England directorate, the wider Fund, and externally with people, communities and civil society organisations who share our vision. 

The team is responsible for:

• Setting the direction for our funding, including setting out the change we want to support in England’s communities through our funding and gathering insights to assess whether we are succeeding or not
• Thinking, exploring and leading on portfolio development and implementation of the new funding portfolio – ensuring we are delivering impact across our current funding portfolio (national, regional, small grants) and developing new funding initiatives and ways of working where necessary
