As our Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs, you’ll deliver and drive the PR, corporate communications, and corporate affairs strategy, promoting and protecting the British Heart Foundation (BHF)’s reputation, building brand awareness, and generating support and engagement to ultimately drive income.
Reporting to the Chief Marketing and Fundraising Officer, you'll deliver the media engagement, press and comms strategy, thought leadership strategy and content generation to build brand awareness, credibility, and influence policy decisions. Accountable for the development and delivery of the corporate communications and reputation management strategy, and stakeholder engagement strategy for alumni and ambassadors, you’ll also own the crisis response process and be responsible for internal change messaging.
In this highly collaborative senior leadership role, you'll also advise the Chief Executive, Executive Group and Trustees on communication strategy and communications and work closely with the Chief People Officer and Director of Policy and Public Affairs to ensure alignment of communications strategies with planning processes and policy and public affairs strategies. Additionally, you’ll collaborate with the Director of Brand, Acquisition and Health Marketing to deliver integrated campaigns across earned, owned and paid media.
You'll role model our values, provide effective and authentic leadership, and grow colleague engagement. Engaging teams to provide clear direction, motivation, and coaching, you'll enable them to perform at their best and drive the delivery of the Directorate’s strategic plans.
Working arrangements
9–12-month fixed term contract, covering an internal secondment.
Start date: As soon as possible. Candidates must be available to start by Monday 2 September at the latest.
This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

THE ROLE
As our first Fundraising Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to shape our fundraising strategy, with a particular emphasis on creativity and innovation. You’ll help us nurture our current donors and find creative ways to generate income from diverse revenue streams, so we can can continue to innovate as we develop our vital support to young people and grow our impact.

- Develop and regularly refresh our fundraising strategy and roadmap.

- Lead on community fundraising efforts and other fundraising events.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Events Fundraiser to support the delivery of our annual calendar of events which includes the London Marathon, Swim Serpentine, Action Challenges and our Choose your own Challenge programme.
The Events Fundraiser will be responsible for managing the portfolio of challenge events including the marketing; on the day delivery; first class stewardship and participant support from sign up to event completion and volunteer recruitment and management.
Due to the nature of our work, you will be required to attend some events and meetings throughout our catchment area which can be during weekends, early mornings or evenings.

Yellow Door is seeking a motivated Trusts & Corporate Fundraising Officer who shares our values and our vision for a world where adults, families, young people and children can live without experiencing domestic and sexual abuse and the resulting devastating impacts.
This is a new role and a chance to make a big difference to the number of people we can reach in the local area affected by domestic and sexual abuse. It is part of our wider plan to increase the fundraising capacity of the charity, with a significant amount of untapped potential, so it is an exciting time to join and make the role your own.
Ideally, we are looking for someone with experience in researching and writing compelling funding applications and managing relationships with funders, but who also has experience of working with corporate partners of all sizes. There is some flexibility as to which income streams the successful candidate would spend the majority of their time on – depending on their experience. In an ideal world we are looking for someone to cover both equally but please don’t be put off by the job description if you have more experience in one area than the other - for us willingness to learn and transferrable skills count for a lot.
An average week might involve finding new local businesses to approach, working with internal teams to research and write grant applications, meeting with funders or corporate partners, pitching to a potential new corporate partner or going to speak to their employees about their fundraising. It might be representing the charity at a corporate fundraiser or a networking event. There will also likely be a Capital Appeal, so any experience in running appeals will stand you in good stead. As you would expect working for a local charity no two days are the same and we all ‘muck in’ – which is part of what will make working for Yellow Door so enjoyable.

Main Purpose:
To work as part of the Leadership Team to develop and grow commercial enterprises, develop corporate giving schemes, secure donations to establish a sustainable unrestricted income stream into the Charity and showcase the work of the Charity on social media platforms.
Income Generation:
- To establish business enterprises within the charity to generate paid for service income, managing these operations and maximising profit.
- To establish commercial giving income streams and sponsorship with small, medium, and large companies.
- To establish a local supporter’s scheme, to generate income and promote the services of the Charity.
- To increase the customer base for the 131 Club, Studio 131, Happy Feet, Lunch Clubs, and any new enterprises the Charity sets up.
General Management:
- Oversee the maintenance of the Charity’s social media marketing, external media advertising and website maintenance.
- To undertake media campaigns representing the Charity, our work and the older people we support. Manage any Service Level Agreements with external marketing consultants.
- To work in line with the Charity’s values and to provide guidance on these values to staff.
- To work with the Leadership Team to develop the Charity’s internal strategy, fulfil its goals and realise its ambitions.

We are looking for an enthuiastic and driven Head of Fundraising and Development who has a strong track record of success in strategic development and management of six-figure funding partnerships and relationship building.
You will develop and foster relationships with the aim of obtaining financial support for the sustainable development and growth of QEST. Stewarding existing funders and developing new business, the role also presents an opportunity over the long term, once funding is secured, to lead and build a fundraising team at a transformational time in QEST’s development and strategic direction. There is currently a Fundraising Manager.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with the CEO and Fundraising Manager to devise, develop, and deliver a fundraising strategy for QEST to achieve diversification of income (restricted and unrestricted) for the long term with a particular focus on:
o Trusts & Foundations (strong track-record)
o Corporate funders
o Statutory funders
o Sponsors/commercial partners
o Major donors and philanthropy
- Reporting to the CEO and Board of Trustees you will secure and maintain sustainable income streams, in line with agreed targets which meet our charitable objectives, focusing on six-figure+ strategic partnerships where possible
- Developing a communications strategy for fundraising with the CEO and Communications Manager; as well as creating fundraising promotional material for print, newsletters, websites and other media as required
- Establishing transparent and open reporting protocols, working closely with the CEO and Finance Manager to meet the needs of financial reporting, forecasting, management accounts and the Annual Review
- Working closely with the CEO, Fundraising Manager and Board members, partners and supporters to develop partnerships and advocate for QES
- Working with the Project Manager to create and organise fundraising-specific activities and events
- Identifying commercial opportunities, nurturing and converting potential prospects in support of specific activities, projects and overheads
- Cultivating, building, optimising and managing relationships with existing and new funders, sponsors, partners and supporters
- Writing and compiling regular reports to funders, sponsors and partners as required
- Providing on-going reports to the CEO and Board of Trustees on fundraising income, goals, and initiatives
- Promoting and complying with current legislation and ensure fundraising and partnerships meet the organisation’s policies on EDI; GDPR; Health & Safety and Safeguarding
