An exciting opportunity has arisen for an additional Operations Manager to join the team on a permanent, part time basis, managing their vulnerable women and young parents' projects across Rochdale.

The role

As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for;

• Leading front lone homelessness services supporting vulnerable women and young parents ensuring they work in line with strategy, resources and procedures to operate effectively and in line with agreed polices and plans.
• Ensuring that services are maintained and developed in accordance with key aims and objectives, are responsive to change, trauma informed, needs led and actively seek the contribution of individuals and families who use the service.
• Harnessing a working environment that encourages teamwork, innovation, positively and creativity.
• Promoting client advocacy and involvement and ensure client services are assessed and reviewed and that services meet client satisfaction goals
• Working with the team leaders in providing consistent and responsible line management to staff, students and volunteers including recruitment.
• Building effective relationships with other agencies to promote a critical community approach to service delivery.
• Monitoring, reviewing and reporting on quality and performance of services to meet contract and funder requirements.
• Ensuring the finance team have the correct annual information to support in setting and controlling of all service budgets.
• Working with the Head of Operations to identify funding opportunities.
• Being committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
• Working at times other than office hours to attend meetings, participate in networks, fund raising events and ensuring that the service is accessible.

Role Overview

The accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the foundation’s financial health, ensuring compliance with charity law, and supporting its mission through effective financial management.

You will be responsible for bookkeeping, financial management, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making by senior staff and trustees.

Key Responsibilities

1. Bookkeeping

• Perform regular bookkeeping tasks in a timely manner including:

- Accounting for purchase invoices coding to the correct activity and account code;
- Accounting for income receipts to the correct fund – restricted or unrestricted and account code
- Monthly payroll – and journal to correct activity and account code;
- Monthly pension submissions;
- Accounting for direct card payments;
- bank reconciliations – sterling, Euro and other currencies;
- accounting for accruals and prepayments on a monthly basis;
- regular review of accounting transactions to ensure all transactions tracked correctly;
- proper knowledge and application of fund accounting.

2. Statutory Accounts

• Preparation of Statutory accounts to comply with Charity and Company law
• Preparation of backing documentation for audit purposes;
• Co-ordination with auditors during audit process to ensure necessary adjustments posited correctly where appropriate.

3. Finance Management

• Implement and maintain financial controls to ensure efficiency, stability, and good governance, including record-keeping to provide a clear audit trail.
• Conduct detailed analysis of different charitable activities and funds, managing both restricted and unrestricted funds.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts in a timely manner, highlighting significant points and discussing them with senior staff and trustees.
• Monitor financial activity against specific projects and funding streams, providing regular updates and analysis.
• Conduct an annual review of internal controls to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as an accountant in the charity sector or a similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of charity law, including handling restricted and unrestricted funds.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Desirable Skills

• Experience in preparing financial reports for senior management and trustees.

• Proficiency in Xero accounting software.

• Familiarity with the requirements of funders and the ability to monitor financial activity against specific funding streams.

Overall purpose

The Philanthropy Manager will manage and steward a portfolio of funders and donors – across trusts and foundations, statutory sources and major donors – to secure annual and multi-year gifts in support of Breaking Barriers’ vision. You will have a strong track record of high-value relationship management and fundraising, ideally specialising in Trusts, Statutory, Major Donor fundraising or a related area. We are looking for someone who can successfully secure and steward gifts of 5 figures and above – so evidence of stewarding high-value relationships and high-quality written skills are key. You will collaborate with additional fundraisers across Trusts, Statutory, Corporate and Major Gifts to coordinate approaches and maximise opportunities across all functions.

We are seeking additional experienced Associate Independent Investigating Officers (IO) for Complaints, to increase our capacity to respond to referrals from Local Authorities to provide an independent element to the formal Stage 2 investigations under the Children Act 1989.

The IO will lead investigations, and will give the complainant (who may be a child, young person or adult) the opportunity to express their view, ensure the child or young person’s rights and best interests are at the centre of the investigation and that the investigation/review process is open and transparent. They write a report on the investigation/review, which is submitted to the referring agency.

The Job Description document sets out the expectations for an Associate Independent Person for Complaints (IPC) who is approved by Coram Voice. IPCs are independent, freelance and responsible for their own work. Whilst being homebased, the Community Engagement Practitioner will be required to work flexibly including regular evening working and occasional weekends as well as travelling for team meetings, member events, training and other in person events. 

The main role requirements for this role include:

• A degree in social work or similar equivalent qualification / experience.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children and young people and adults from the age of 15 years upwards.

The Role

Core responsibilities will include: 

• Maintaining and implementing content plan for social media channels (primarily Instagram, X, Tiktok and Facebook) including drafting copy, creating content and ensure consistent posting for all channels with the guidance of Digital campaigner/Digital Campaign Lead and campaign team
• Producing a range of daily digital content for Uplift’s social media channels - from simple social-first graphic design, to lo-fi effective social video content
• Working in collaboration with other creatives - ie graphic designers, video producers, creators and influencers - for additional campaign assets
• Creating reactive content and messaging to respond to current events, helping Uplift maximise opportunities for engagement and growth using the news cycle
• Community management across the various campaign channels
• Developing social media toolkits and coordinating with partners around big mobilisations
• Analysing the performance of social media outputs and their contribution towards the wider campaign, and making recommendations on how to improve
• Managing the distribution of key pieces of social media content to relevant stakeholders to increase online amplification (partners, groups and pages)
• Supporting the campaign team on other digital tasks as required: ie  maintaining campaign websites, digital action tools, online databases and email inbox

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Conceive of, organise, and oversee disruptions, demonstrations, and other campaign projects
• Recruit and liaise with activists in Europe, with the aim of building relationships with and a network of key activists, and enlist their assistance when needed to deliver on campaign goals
• Stay informed of significant events and decision-makers within the Catholic Church and identify opportunities to advance the anti-bullfighting message
• Coordinate projects for PETA’s anti-bullfighting campaign, including producing new content, conducting research, and writing letters
• Work with the PETA US production team to create and redesign posters, banners, literature, and other outreach materials as needed
• Act as a spokesperson, representing the organisation at public-speaking engagements, in debates, and to the media and general public
• Maintain the volunteer and activist database
• Travel when necessary to help with demonstrations, tabling, and other events or hold such events independently when requested

We are hiring! We have a job vacancy for an Early Intervention Project Worker to join Shine.

Shine has a membership of over 14,000 members living with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,500 associated members.

Our Little Stars project for 0–12-year-olds has been established for over 5 years supporting younger members and their families with their diagnosis and beyond. We also have a growing Teen membership known as FIRE (Friendship, Independence, Resilience, Equality) Working alongside our multi skilled, established team, you will be supporting members across all age groups and building on the great foundations already in place. 

We are looking for an Early Intervention Project Worker who can cover the South of England, primarily you will be home based, supporting members through phone calls and using online platforms.  You will be required to attend clinics, events and meet members one to one where necessary within your allocated area and occasionally across wider areas and nationally. 

Purpose of the role 

• To deliver Shine's Little Stars (funded by The National Lottery Community Fund) project for 0–12-year-olds, supporting early years and younger members with their families, their diagnosis and beyond across the Southern Region. To provide advice, support and guidance to enable people with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus to access the correct benefits to become financially stable, the right services to improve their health and well-being, and to better co-ordinate their support and independence through a variety of methods. 

• To improve the life wellbeing of children 0-12 years old with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus by promoting independence and providing them and their families with early intervention support. 

• To create a community whereby those affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus can connect with others, are empowered through knowledge and feel confident in the support networks surrounding them.
