Job Purpose:

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will act as a resource for The Robin Cancer Trust, beneficiaries, healthcare professionals and the wider public on germ cell cancers. The role includes service delivery and development, reviewing our health information and health education and awareness training resources, and supporting the creation and facilitation of a new Medical Advisory Group for Robin Cancer Trust. They will also work with the CEO to contribute to wider work to streamline and develop the services offered by The Robin Cancer Trust.

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead responsibility for keeping up to date with clinical updates relating to germ cancer and communicating these to the team to inform service development and delivery.
• Research, create and provide accessible information and resources on all aspects of germ cell cancer (detection, treatment, recovery and survivorship)
• Oversight of the content provided in all training materials, resources and information developed by the wider team relating to germ cell cancer detection, treatment and recovery and survivorship.
• Build external stakeholder and peer relationships with other key cancer partners including hospital networks, cancer care partnerships, and other voluntary sector providers. Playing an active role in the germ cell cancer community.
• Working as a core part of the Robin Cancer Trust team to engage people face to face, providing information and on early detection, treatment, and recovery.

Person Specifications

Essential qualifications:

• Nursing and Midwifery Council registration and a degree in a related subject.
• Post-registration qualification(s) in speciality or relevant subject cancer care.

As our new Head of Individual Giving, you will be responsible for growing our income from our individual and corporate base to help us reach more vulnerable members of our community. You will lead on  individual fundraising relationships and initiatives, including appeals, fundraising campaigns, and all direct marketing activities and communications. You will position us in our supporters’ minds and encourage them to actively support CNK in 2025 and beyond.

Position: Head of Individual Giving 

Responsible to: CEO

Based at: Our offices in New Malden KT3 with some remote/home working.  We will be as flexible as possible to accommodate the right candidate.

Contract: Permanent. Full-time (35 hours per week) with occasional evening working required. Flexible hours/days possible whilst respecting core hours of 10am-4pm

Salary: £42,000 - £45,000 + 5% pension on qualifying earnings, health insurance and gym membership

The role

Your specific objectives will be to:

• Grow our individual supporter base (individual and corporate) by 30% in 2025 through new donor acquisition strategies

• Increasing our unrestricted income from major, mid and low level donors and corporate partners to £100,000 per annum in 2025 and beyond 

• Delivering impactful messages, responsive and successful direct marketing and digital fundraising campaigns

This is a really exciting opportunity for a creative ambitious self-starter who enjoys a fast paced fundraising environment, is passionate about communications, building donor relationships and driving long-term income growth.

Funding dependent, we would intend that the role also entails future promotion and staff management potential.

You have:

1) ability and enthusiasm to start up our individual giving programme (low, mid, major donors and corporate) to reach our target to raise £100,000 by end of 2025

2) creativity in creating and communicating personal stories and compelling asks that motivate our supporters to give

3) analytical understanding, strategic acumen and practical experience of the supporter journey from recruitment to regular giving, and ability to deliver this for CNK
 

Supported by the CEO, your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Strategy:

• Strategise and plan our annual individual and corporate giving programme with targets and performance indicators.This will be a key focus area within our 2025/6 corporate fundraising strategy.

• Report quarterly on progress. Use online analytics, social media insights and other metrics to help us learn, improve and grow our income from low, mid,major donors and corporate supporters.

Annual Corporate and Individual Giving Programmes:

• Develop and deliver CNK corporate and individual giving fundraising programme of events, campaigns and appeals to raise £100,000 in 2025. 

• Work closely with CEO and CNK team members to craft information into compelling copy, asks, supporter updates, social media content and personalised campaign appeals. 

• Plan and deliver low and mid level individual giving campaigns to cultivate new donors, convert existing supporters from once off donations to regular givers and inspire donors to increase their current support.

• Design and deliver our annual major donor giving programme. Cultivate, communicate and inspire new major donors to join us with the aim of increasing our current major donor pool by 10%. Steward current donors, keep in touch, craft compelling asks to support their progression towards more frequent or higher-value donations.

• Report monthly to the CEO on the success of campaigns and programming, income raised, number of new supporters/followers, conversion rates, offering insight on ROI, learnings and how we will incorporate this learning to improve how we do things in future. 

Fundraising compliance:

• Save all profiles, donations, giving history, gift aid agreements, correspondence, and communications with supporters on CNK CRM database. Uphold GDPR and comply with fundraising best practice.

US Individual Giving Programme:

• Contribute towards developing a new US individual giving portfolio through prospect research and crafting compelling fundraising asks.

Staff & Volunteer Management:

• Create and manage a volunteer fundraising programme to grow individual giving through community events, social media and awareness raising. 

The role has no direct line reports at present but there may be in future, budget permitting

Essential skills and experience:

You will have at least five, ideally eight, years experience of:

• individual giving fundraising for a small charity, with a track record of developing and delivering successful individual giving campaigns that have generated 5 figure sums 

• building a supporter base - both amongst low value, but also mid level and major donors

• gathering information, case studies, data and finances, distilling and crafting high quality, well articulated compelling funding asks

• growing charity brand and positioning, thorough consistent approach, campaigns, asks,use of language and artwork

• digital marketing including social media, email marketing, and website content management

• designing tools, inputting data and keeping CRM software updated, using data analytics to report on donor journey and drive fundraising decisions

• relevant fundraising regulations and best practices, including GDPR compliance.

You:

• Can work quickly under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

• Are highly organised, able to act on own initiative, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines

• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to craft compelling asks to engage and inspire donors.

People & Culture

• Lead the review and development of HR policies and processes to ensure that they embody People’s Economy’s values, and support effective working and staff wellbeing, drawing in external expertise as necessary.

• Lead the development and implementation of recruitment processes for staff vacancies, ensuring compliance with People’s Economy’s recruitment policy and employment law.

• Lead the implementation of formal HR processes e.g. disciplinary processes, contract variations, and act as the key point of contact with People’s Economy’s external HR advisers. 

• Contribute to the development of organisational culture and values and ensure that they are embedded, promoted and enacted throughout the organisation.

• Lead review and development of People’s Economy’s safeguarding policy, processes and practice including staff and trustee training.

• Lead the work to build and maintain staff health and safety and wellbeing, through developing appropriate systems, processes and practices.

• Undertake day-to-day HR administration, including leave booking and sickness absence recording. 

Operations

• Develop policies, systems and processes to support the effective functioning of the organisation and (with support from the Programme Director) which support the implementation of programme and project delivery.

• Develop and maintain People’s Economy’s IT systems, including working with external providers to review IT security. 

• Lead on regularly reviewing and updating People’s Economy’s remote and hybrid working policies and supporting colleagues to access suitable equipment and workspace to carry out their roles.

• Support the Programme Director set up and manage the operation of People’s Economy’s monitoring, evaluation and learning systems and their embedding across the organisation.

Finance

• Lead People’s Economy’s financial management and control, including:

  • Manage People’s Economy’s book-keeping and payroll providers to ensure that high quality records of income and expenditure are maintained and the smooth operation of supplier payments, invoicing, payroll and pensions contributions.

  • Oversee the timely production of regular financial reporting including management accounts, cash forecasting and quarterly reporting to the Board. Scrutinise regular finance reports and work to resolve any issues identified. 

  • Liaise with People’s Economy’s accountant and manage the annual process of independent examination and producing year-end reports and accounts.

• Lead on financial planning, including the preparation of an annual organisational budget and lead on updating budget information throughout the year.

• Create systems and processes to support staff to develop and manage budgets for the programmes and projects that they are leading.

• With support from the Executive Director, lead the development of organisational business plans and monitoring of progress against them, including reporting on progress to the Trustee Board.

• Lead on maintaining robust and up-to-date information about the organisation’s income pipeline. 

• Lead on fundraising administration:

  • Track progress against income targets ensuring information is kept up to date and regularly updating the Executive Director on the position.

  • Manage funder reporting and invoicing, working closely with colleagues leading funder relationships and with People’s Economy’s book-keeping provider.

Governance and Legal

• Lead on compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements including data protection, employment law, health and safety, and charity law.

• Ensure that People’s Economy has appropriate insurance in place.

• Lead on Trustee Board administration and support the good functioning of the Board, including by managing trustee recruitment processes when required.

• Lead on maintaining the organisational risk register and reporting on it to the Trustee Board. 

• Work with the Executive Director to ensure that there are effective mechanisms to ensure the robustness of external and internal controls (financial and non-financial).

Line Management

• Oversee People’s Economy’s book-keeping providers, and line manage possible future roles, supporting post-holders to carry out their roles effectively and to develop professionally.

As Director of Income Generation, you will: 

• Join a high-functioning Executive Director team to effectively govern and lead the organisation’s strategic development

The Fundraising Assistant will be a key member of the fundraising team. Supporting the team to deliver a wider range of fundraising activities including events, challenges and campaigns as well as helping maximise the supporter journey and providing excellent donor care. You will enjoy collaborating with others and be an excellent communicator who can plan and prioritise efficiently, whilst delivering exceptional customer service.

You will be responsible for Database Management and keeping the CRM up to date and Management of donation Platforms and being the go-to person for fundraising enquiries.

Main Responsibilities:

•  Importing data in an efficient, timely and accurate manner.
• Construction of automated tasks in the CRM which are assigned to other members of the team to enable stewardship via the correct fundraising team member.
• To assist the fundraising team by providing administrative support for the charities events and campaigns to maximise income.
• To assist with the administration of event participants and ticket buyers, including responding to enquiries in a timely fashion, building relationships by phone and email and encouraging and motivating participants to meet and exceed targets
• To keep up to date records of all collection boxes and buckets in the community
• To be the first point of contact for phone face to face plus emails via the fundraising inbox for all fundraising enquiries, respond in a timely manner and recognise the opportunity to build relationships and encourage fundraising support.
• To run and analyse weekly financial reports to ensure donations are recorded correctly and the appropriate thank you has been sent.
• Support regular gift aid claim submissions to HMRC to take place monthly.
• Support the team to provide communications to the correct audiences for marketing activity.
• Assist in processing donations from mailing appeals.
• Work with the fundraising team to ensure data recording is kept up to date in a timely way
• Assist and support other members of the fundraising team e.g., sending out events/fundraising packs and ensuring all event participants are thanked within the scheduled time.

Knowledge and experience:
