Main duties of the job

Sutton Community Works (SCW) is a Christian charity in South London. Sutton Foodbank is one of our faith in action projects and we are looking for a dedicated manager to oversee the smooth delivery of this amazing project supported by almost 100 volunteers!
Our vision is for our faith in action projects to contribute to a safe and flourishing community in Sutton.
Our work focuses on areas including food poverty, young people, rough sleepers and homelessness. In all our work, our ethos is to love God and others in all we do and say, ensuring people feel seen, heard, understood, and helped.
Sutton Foodbank has been helping people in food crisis since 2009, and supported nearly 4000 adults and children in 2024. We are open 5 times per week across 4 different venues and people are referred to by referral partners across the borough. Details of our sessions can be found on Sutton Foobank website.
Sessions are run by our dedicated volunteers who come from local churches; and our dependable warehouse, restocking and transport volunteers always ensure food gets safely to where it is needed.
People visiting the foodbank come from a vast variety of backgrounds but all have faced difficult life experiences. Beyond food, we also want people to access support to improve their situation, so we commision Citizens Advice to come to the foodbank sessions to help people maximise their income and provide advice on topics such as housing, debt and benefits.
And as a Christian project we underpin everything with prayer, and actively offer prayer to our clients too. The genuine care and compassion from our volunteers helps to build trusting relationships so we can more effectively listen, pray and signpost people to other support.
As our Foodbank Manager, you can use your leadership experience, excellent communication and organisational skills and Christian faith in a way that makes a real difference in people's lives.

Occupational Requirement: This role involves offering and participating in Christian prayer with members of the public and volunteers, leading devotions and group prayers, and providing pastoral care and faith-based leadership to Christian staff and volunteers. It is therefore an occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a practicing Christian.
Role purpose is to:
- Manage smooth and safe day-to-day delivery of Sutton Foodbank, supporting volunteers and clients and ensuring food stock is sufficient and managed safely (65%)
- Maintain and increase capacity of the service coordinating food drive activity, maintaining excellent relationships with food donors, volunteers and other external organisations, and assisting with onboarding new volunteers (25%)

South West Community Chaplaincy (SWCC) aims to provide effective care and community support for people as they leave prison and re-integrate back into the locality, within the counties of Devon, Cornwall and West Somerset. This includes mentoring, practical support and signposting to assist the integration of ex-prisoners into their communities, in collaboration with other professionals.
We are actively seeking to strengthen our team of Community Chaplains and specifically to appoint a new Community Chaplain in Cornwall, to work with people in the community after they have served a sentence. The role is also a strategic one, in that it will involve extending the network of support in the county, through the development of support hubs with other service providers.
There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) under the Equality Act 2010 for applicants to actively embrace the Christian faith ethos and values of SWCC, and to be able to promote an environment where people of all faiths, and people of none, can work together for the transformation of lives and communities. The role entails a significant amount of travel, and some occasional weekend and evening work will be involved.

Overall job purpose
This is a fundamental role within our North regional team, internally the role is known as Local Community Officer. The future of CCT’s outstanding collection of historic churches depends on communities supporting their local CCT church with funds, events, inspiring interpretation, visitor services and preventive conservation. The Local Community Officer will engage and support communities and volunteers to care for 23 historic churches across Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, W. Yorkshire, N. Yorkshire (part), ensuring each site achieves agreed standards.

Role description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and self-driven individual to join our Fundraising Team as the Community Fundraiser. You will lead, plan, cost and deliver an exciting and varied community fundraising programme to grow income and a strong return on investment. You will need to work closely with the Director of Fundraising to shape the plans and resources required for the future.
The post holder will require a good knowledge of fundraising and considerable energy and enthusiasm that will inspire patients, visitors, hospital staff and the local community to choose Southampton Hospitals Charity as their preferred charity.
Main Responsibilities:

To develop, support the delivery of and evaluate a strategic supporter journey and stewardship journey across the community fundraising programme focused on generating net return and supporter retention.

To create and increase awareness of fundraising for Southampton Hospitals Charity across all University Hospital Southampton sites working closely with the Marketing and Communications team

To foster effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders including consultants, doctors, nurses, care group managers etc

To ensure visibility of fundraising materials including poster sites and leaflet holders in the hospitals, community etc and ensure they are kept up to date and relevant

To be proactive in seeking out new fundraising opportunities, relationships, and networks.

To lead on researching and developing Trust and charity networks to acquire new supporters in the communities served by the UHS Trust based on audience insight and analysis

To build and maintain relationships with supporters through face to face, telephone, email, and written correspondence with the aim of securing financial and “in kind” support.

To have an insight led approach to our activities, regularly analysing data and gathering supporter feedback.

To develop a comprehensive pipeline of fundraising opportunities such as adopted charity of the year for regional shows and events, mayors and golf captains.

To be the first point of contact for groups and individuals organising community activities to raise money for SHC, motivating and encouraging them to raise as much money as possible.

To proactively research and identify influential individuals in schools and community groups to build and develop relationships and gather support for key campaigns

To appropriately support all community fundraising activities- Thank and report on how money is spent and provide high levels of supporter relationship management which will result in long term support.

To liaise and manage relationships with external suppliers such as 3rd party event organisers, event companies and venues.

To be responsible for the input and maintenance of the fundraising database (Beacon) and ensure records are kept up to date in a timely, accurate and consistent manner

Be aware of income and expenditure budgets working to ensure all activity achieves a return on investment of 4:1

To be aware of the changing external environment to pick up on opportunities and keep abreast of current trends, circumstances or topical issues that will enhance the event or the charity.

Person Specification:
Knowledge and experience

Experience of increasing income through successful community, events, corporate or volunteer fundraising programmes or equivalent transferable experience from another sector

Experience of successful project management including planning and delivering projects within budgets and on time to meet departmental, team and personal objectives and KPIs

A proven track record of delivering an excellent customer/supporter stewardship experience

Experience of managing multiple projects and budgets

Demonstrable experience in using data insight and analysis to inform decision making

Excellent IT skills including using Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point as well as experience of administering and maintaining dedicated supporter CMS databases
