Interim Finance Director

Location: London – Hybrid (flexi)

Reporting to the CEO, the Finance Director will be part of In Kind Direct’s leadership team and contribute to the overall leadership, strategic direction and decision-making of the organisation.

You will advise the CEO and Board on these strategies, including working with the Partnerships and Impact Director and Commercial Director to set the philanthropic and commercial income strategies. 

The Finance Director will also be responsible for implementing and developing financial planning, budgeting and forecasting to support IKD’s decision making for increased impact and improve IKD’s effectiveness and efficiency. This includes responsibility for the development and maintenance of the internal finance controls, policies, procedures and systems. Finally, you will also lead decision-making on investments, reserves and the management of financial strategy and risks, taking into account our approach to sustainability. Previous experience in eCommerce and distribution will be a significant advantage given the innovative In Kind Direct model.

Skills and experience you will bring

• Experience working at FD level with in-depth knowledge of financial and operational management, ideally including relevant experience within the charity sector.
• Strategic thinker experienced in collaborative strategy development.
• Innovative, curious and rigorous - able to find strategic solutions and work at pace to support commercial and operational decisions [CW5] with modelling that drive greater impact.
• Fully qualified finance professional (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Understanding of Ecommerce and distribution is highly desirable.
• Wide experience of business planning, functional development and performance reporting, including to the Board of Trustees.
• Experience managing outsourced finance teams desirable.
• An experienced leader with a track record of delivering ambitious goals, bringing together diverse, inclusive, high performing teams.
• Equally adept at and enthused by engaging in strategic decision making and rolling up their sleeves to get involved in the day-to-day delivery of In Kind Direct.

Purpose of the Job
The Dad Matters coordinators deliver a range of universal and targeted interventions aimed at male parents in the First 1001 Days. They support dads and other male carers with attachment and bonding, mental health and access to service. They also work with professionals and perinatal services to ensure dads and male carers are engaged, supported and heard within clinical pathways.

The post holder will:

• Build on the Home-Start Haringey, Hackney and Waltham Forest foundation of peer support by engaging and supporting dads in one to one and group situations.
• Ensure that parent – infant relationships are a thread through every relationship and conversation with dads.
• Raise awareness of the risks of poor mental health for fathers and their families during the perinatal period
• Raise awareness of the impact on fathers of caring for a partner affected by perinatal mental health issues 
• Develop the Dad Matters volunteer role
• Develop close links with other health and voluntary agencies
• Facilitate regular consultation with fathers through outreach and focus groups

Main Responsibilities

Support to Dads

The post holder will provide individual and group support to dads during the perinatal period.  This will involve the following: 

• Meeting dads at ante-natal clinics
• Facilitating or co-facilitating ante-natal Dad Chats in person and online
• Supporting the developments of support offered to dads with children on NICU and those with partners in receipt of care from Perinatal Mental Health teams, Adult Mental Health, IAPT and Parent Infant Mental Health teams
• Signposting and supporting access to other services as appropriate
• Undertake designated responsibilities to safeguard and promote children’s welfare
• Ensure equality of opportunity, fairness and diversity in all aspects of work
• Facilitate regular consultation with fathers in order to ensure that all resources are targeted appropriately

Promotion & Awareness Raising:

• Maintain up-to-date information for dads and make this available through the Dad Matters website and a range of social media

• Engage dads through social media, self-referral and email.
• Ensure the integrity of the Dad Matters Brand when engaging dads and professionals.

Recruiting & Managing Volunteers – this will involve:

• Promoting, developing and delivering volunteer recruitment campaigns
• Recruiting, selecting and preparing suitable volunteers

• Arranging and co-ordinating volunteer activity in person and online
• Providing support and supervision for volunteers engaged in working with dads

• To provide further training for Home-Start Haringey, Hackney and Waltham Forest home visiting volunteers as appropriate

Monitoring & Evaluation:

• Support the evaluation of the impact of Dad Matters
• Ensure accurate and relevant record keeping and data collection

Working in Partnership

• Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with key health partners, including those from Parent Infant Mental Health teams, Midwifery, IAPT, Perinatal Teams,  Adult Mental Health, Health Visiting and other VCSE groups

• Delivering/co-delivering training to multi-agency colleagues as appropriate

The Role

Recovery and Connect is a project delivered in partnership with Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. About the role:
As a DRIVE IDVA, you will: -

• Work in partnership with other professionals to ensure that risk management and safeguarding duties are effectively met.
• Develop and maintain effective partnership working with statutory, private and voluntary agencies to address the issue of domestic abuse.
• Implement effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm.
• Hold a case load focusing on high-risk survivors of domestic abuse to provide, medium to long term support, based on thorough risk assessment and individual safety and support planning.
• Attend regular case meetings with the DRIVE Case Managers and partnership agencies
• Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse.

You will need:

• Have a knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse (in heterosexual or same-sex relationships).
• Have a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.
• Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children
• Understand safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
• Direct service delivery to victims of domestic abuse or other vulnerable people.
• Have excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals. Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.
• Have a strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.

About the role:

This role is home and office based, with travel throughout London. As a DRIVE IDVA, you will: -

• Work in partnership with other professionals to ensure that risk management and safeguarding duties are effectively met.
• Develop and maintain effective partnership working with statutory, private and voluntary agencies to address the issue of domestic abuse.
• Implement effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm.
• Hold a case load focusing on high-risk survivors of domestic abuse to provide, medium to long term support, based on thorough risk assessment and individual safety and support planning.
• Attend regular case meetings with the DRIVE Case Managers and partnership agencies
• Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse.

You will need:

• Have a knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse (in heterosexual or same-sex relationships).
• Have a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.
• Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children
• Understand safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
• Direct service delivery to victims of domestic abuse or other vulnerable people.
• Have excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals. Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.
• Have a strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.

Summary of the role

Our successful charity runs pathways which focus on employability and skills for everyday living to help young people, with SEN and learning disabilities to gain confidence and social support, alongside nationally recognised qualifications. Green Corridor requires the skills of an enthusiastic and reliable Teaching Assistant, who can work effectively with our learners who each have their own additional needs. The candidate we require should ideally have experience and/or affinity for working with young adults with Special Educational Needs. The role would involve supporting learners within their subject area, and functional skills, encouraging them to reach their full potential.

Specific duties and responsibilities of the role

Supporting Young People

• To work with the tutor to establish an appropriate learning environment.
• To work with the tutor on lesson planning, evaluating and adjusting lesson/work plans as appropriate.
• To monitor and evaluate learners’ responses to learning activities through observations and planned recording of achievement against learning objectives.
• To use specialist skills to support learners’ learning such as PECS, Makaton, symbols and iPads. 
• To assist with the development, implementation and evaluation of learning programmes and individual work plans.
• To prepare and assist in the preparation of the classroom, resources and equipment.
• To establish productive working relationships with learners acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
• Communicating with learners with varying degrees of speech and language difficulties, using communicative system/equipment where necessary.
• To promote inclusion and acceptance of all learners within the classroom and across Green Corridor.
• To support learners consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs
• To encourage individual learners to interact and work co-operatively with others whilst engaging in activities.

Professional Development 

• To participate in 30 hours CPD per year specific to the needs of learners and Green Corridor, including working towards appropriate qualifications needed to perform your role.

Other duties 

• Undertake any other task identified as being necessary to fulfil contract requirements or the requirements of an individual support.

We are looking for a Programme Coordinator who will support the growth and development of the Democracy Classroom network, helping teachers and youth practitioners to engage young people in politics, democracy and elections.

We support young people to use their voice by providing them with outstanding democratic education. We work with young people, teachers and politicians to help them to learn, teach and engage in politics. We are a non-partisan organisation working across the UK. 

ABOUT DEMOCRACY CLASSROOM 

Democracy Classroom is a partnership between over 100 civil society organisations that supports young people to engage in elections and democracy. The network supports collaboration through newsletters, training, meet up’s and an annual conference, as well as providing resources and training for teachers and youth practitioners. Democracy Classroom pools the collective support of the sector through the Democracy Classroom Platform, where teachers and youth workers can access the collective support of the membership. 

Following the recent General Election, the network has experienced growth and is now preparing to support upcoming elections, votes at 16 and new developments such as changes to democratic education and the curriculum review. The network is non-partisan and works across all 4 nations in the UK. 

The aims of the network include: 

Increasing the number of young people engaging with democracy and elections.

Increasing the number of teachers and youth workers delivering democratic education, and strengthening their capacity to deliver impactful democratic engagement and voter registration activities in schools, colleges and youth settings across the UK.

Improving coordination between organisations engaging young people across the youth, education and democracy sectors, through growing the Democracy Classroom network.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The post holder will work with the Director and the Programme Manager of Democracy Classroom to support the growth of the Democracy Classroom network by managing the website / platform. They will:

• Liaise with partners to compile learning resources and training opportunities to share on the platform.
• Add resources, training opportunities and other relevant information to the platform as required.
• Ensure the platform is kept up to date and accessible.
• Support Democracy Classroom communication channels - producing Democracy Classroom newsletters and creating engaging social media content to highlight the work of partners, their learning resources and training opportunities, on the platform.

The post holder will also:

• Coordinate training for teachers and youth workers to deliver election education materials.
• Manage the Democracy Classroom database. 
• Assist with monitoring and evaluation.
• Provide administrative support for the Democracy Classroom network and other The Politics Project programmes and activities where required.

The job is based on a 12 month, fixed term contract (including a 6-month probation period), with opportunities for extension. 

The Politics Project is based in London, and the post holder will be expected to work from the office at least two days a week. The hours of work are 37.5 hrs per week. Occasional travel to elsewhere in the UK and working unsocial hours in the evenings and at weekends may be required.

Financial Administration 

• Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate financial records, including processing receipts, invoices, payments, and expenses.

• Budgeting and Reporting: Assist in the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and reports for internal management and external stakeholders.
