An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Communities Development Lead to join a fantastic youth- development charity, based in the Northwest.

Location:Hybrid working across Ambleside and Bradford

Salary:  £36,000 - £41,000

As Communities Development Lead you will lead on business and service development for the Communities Team through relationship and partnership integration, horizon scanning, income generation and the implementation of special projects.

 Key Responsibilities include:

• Leading the development of high level (local, regional and national) relationships and networks.
• Developing and integrating the charity in partnerships which enable active engagement
• in the Youth and Communities network across the Northwest, specifically in
• regard to developing operational delivery and income generation.
• Working with Head of Delivery (Communities) and Area Team Managers in
• Bradford and Cumbria, to identify areas of need for funding and growth opportunities.
• Leading on securing income against an annual income target, through the writing and coordination of high-quality bids and tenders, to include pipeline work.
• Working with relevant colleagues, coordinate the production and submission of reports to funders which bring together key information regarding delivery KPIs, case studies, impact, evaluation and outcomes, in line with funder and internal requirements
• Leading the development and implementation of special projects (such as Volunteering and Youth Voice/Participation).

 The successful candidate will have substantial knowledge and experience of the Children & Young People sector, including legislation, frameworks and the changing landscape, within a management capacity and will be experienced in working within an inter-agency commissioning environment. A proven track record of securing funding from a variety of sources to support a breadth of youth and community programmes is key, as well as being able to demonstrate evidence of strong leadership and strategic thinking that has driven growth and impact.

A full UK driving licence and a willingness to work flexibly and travel across the Northwest region is a must.

• Responsible for maintaining all notice boards in the Centre and keeping them up to date with correct posters and announcements.
• Receive and help with various deliveries ensuring everything is received properly and is kept in its correct place.
• Maintaining the activities list, class and clubs registers and the login/out ledger and visitors log for all members, visitors and volunteers.
• Making sure the relevant Health and Safety requirements and other obligations are being met and correctly observed
• Reporting any maintenance issues quickly and clearly to the Community Manager
• Overseeing and ensuring that all administrative processes are carried out in line with the Centre’s policy
• Opening the Centre in the mornings and possibly closing in the afternoon.
• Reconciling money received on a daily basis reporting this to the General Centre Manager
• You might be required to attend/support events out of working hours including weekends. You will receive time off in lieu for any hours you work over your contractual hours

Purpose of the post: 

We are looking for a Community Development Worker with experience supporting with people with their mental health, with significant experience in statutory and/or voluntary sector services, knowledge of the City of London, Hackney and Waltham Forest (or a specific local area or demographic), and strong interpersonal skills.

You will work closely with individuals from Black, African and Caribbean Communities, with serious mental illness (SMI) developing an understanding of complexity in order to provide the most appropriate support.

Working alongside the Director and Clinical Operations Manager you will, be responsible for linking in with Secondary Services in organising and delivering tasks which facilitate an informed and safer hospital discharge and smooth transition into the Community to avoid re-admission.

As a Community Development Worker, you will become a local expert, gathering and sharing information about local opportunities, activities, and support, bringing people together and supporting them to remain confident and independent in their everyday lives.

Main duties and responsibilities: 

1. You will be responsible for linking with Groups and Services to understand the mental health needs across the Community.

2. To work closely with the Hospital Discharge Teams as part of the Discharge process

3. Collectively develop a robust Hospital Discharge plan that will help embed the Clients into the Community.

4. Explore with Secondary Services and other relevant agencies the current provision and identify the gaps and assist IRIE Mind and its partners to develop programmes to meet the identified need. 

5. To raise awareness of the importance of talking about Mental health and seeking support early, especially in the Black, African and Caribbean Communities.

6. To provide information on where to go for additional support upon Discharge

7. Collaboratively develop material with colleagues to distribute to in patients and Clients, families and friends.

8. Regularly organise and support relevant Outreach events to bring people together/make connections.

9. To play a lead role in identifying and initiating Outreach to new client Groups (Young Black Men and Complex needs) and develop new projects.

10. Develop and establish local networks of support that will meet the religious, cultural, occupational, therapeutic and recreational needs of the Clients.

11. To identify partnership opportunities in working with local community colleges, employers, carers, care co-ordinators, and Clients.

12. Consult and liaise with the Mental Health Recovery Teams, Hospital staff, Psychiatric nurses, social workers and other providers in order to promote the service and consult regarding Client progress, achievements and concerns.

13.  To encourage and develop active participation of Clients in the running of IRIE Mind, and in the planning and development of activities,

14.  To develop effective liaison arrangements with statutory and voluntary agencies in the community to enable Clients make full use of community resources in the borough

15.  To manage your own small caseload of complex clients within the Community and in rare cases, their homes.

16. Record all referrals, actions, progress and data via a CRM/Database.

17. Be responsible for maintaining a self-reflective practice and demonstrate self-awareness and effective self-management of stress

18. Assist with the management of Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults cases as they arise within the organisation and liaise with the Operation Services Manager and Director and other professional bodies as required by best practice and in law

Coordinate and support the Scottish Peer Educator project aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of deceased and living organ and tissue donation amongst South Asian communities across Glasgow, Edinburgh and surrounding areas. The peer educator co-ordinator will manage a group of volunteers to attend events and deliver messaging on kidney health, disease and organ and tissue donation in partnership with the policy lead (Scotland).
 
The Scottish Organ and Tissue Donation Peer Educator project is a long-standing partnership with the Scottish Government. The project aims to increase awareness of deceased organ and tissue donation, and living kidney donation, among people within the South Asian communities in and around Glasgow and Edinburgh, covering the Hindu, Muslim and Sikh faiths. The project involves working with peer educators (volunteers) from South Asian communities who attend events and talk to the communities about organ and tissue donation.
 
The successful candidate will have an awareness of organ donation and experience in effective community outreach and engagement. You will be an excellent empathetic communicator, both written and verbal as well as being receptive and approachable with a “person-centred” approach.

The Community Energy Network is funded by the National Lottery’s Climate Action Fund and will be run through a partnership between Bath and North East Somerset Council, Bath and West Community Energy (BWCE), the University of Bath and the multi-agency BANES Community Wellbeing Hub.

Project Background

To tackle the climate crisis and fuel poverty, we are going to need a LOT more people involved, taking action in whatever ways they can. Fortunately, there are hundreds of people in our area who are already stepping up to do this.

Our vision for the energy transition has two elements. Firstly, we must reduce energy demand, particularly from homes, where high energy bills are causing serious social problems. Secondly, we must ensure that the remaining energy demand is met by clean local renewable energy, owned by and with benefits retained by the local community.

The Energy Outreach Coordinators will support people taking action on both these elements.

Job Purpose

We are looking for a motivated community organiser and project manager with renewable energy knowledge to work with communities to help decide if, how and where to develop renewable energy projects in their area, as part of the BANES Community Energy Network. They will help develop a new engagement process that takes a grassroots approach to identifying sites and maximises community involvement in, and benefit from, new schemes. 

The successful applicant will connect new and existing renewable energy champions to the BANES Community Energy Network and develop a programme of networking, celebration and learning to support them. The role sits within BWCE’s Communications and Engagement team and the post holder will be supported by energy experts from BWCE and the Centre for Sustainable Energy.

Principal tasks

• Community Engagement and facilitation: Work with community members, stakeholders, organisations and the local Champions leading the process to maximise local participation, for example through workshops. 
• Partnership working: Coordinate closely with Bath & North East Somerset and Wiltshire Councils, the Centre for Sustainable Energy and local partners to co-develop and implement the programme. 
• Organise events and activities such as workshops, drop-in sessions, roadshows and webinars to increase participation in the process and awareness of community energy. 
• Project Management: Take a project management approach to organising, scheduling, monitoring and prioritising tasks and managing risks. 
• Process development: Work with partners to co-evolve the Future Energy Landscape model, including a business case planning tool that can be shared with other networks and communities. 
• Communications: Provide content for communications materials that resonate in the communities with input from local champions and support from the BANES council project communications offer. 
• Evaluation: Undertake data collection and reporting of Network activities, supporting evaluation through follow-up surveys, case studies, focus groups, working with Bath University.

About the role
 
Location: Community based in Fenland, Ramsey area and the A1 Corridor in Huntingdonshire 
Contract: Fixed term contract for 1 year

As a Community Engagement Officer you will be responsible for raising awareness within the community of Fenland and parts of Huntingdonshire. Our main focus is to support people living with Dementia to know how to access help and support they need to live as independently as they are able. You will be working closely within the community, alongside local and national organisations, helping them to develop and establish support networks and to become more Dementia Inclusive.

You will;

- Travelling extensively throughout Fenland, Ramsey area and A1 Corridor in Huntingdonshire, organising and promoting local awareness raising events within communities.
- Networking within communities identifying services, providing information and speaking to group members and identify how to become more Dementia Inclusive.
- Producing items for village newsletter, producing posters and flyers to promote your events.
- Deliver and facilitate Dementia Friends sessions out in the community.
- Working and attending meetings with a wide range of organisations including health, social care, local Government, and voluntary sector.

About you

You are;

- Able to travel independently throughout Fenland and Huntingdonshire with access to own vehicle.
- Confident to speak to groups of people at events.
- Able to organise and promote events. 
- Passionate about making a difference to those affected by dementia.
- Possess the skills to establish local contacts and networking.
- Understand working with people from seldom heard from groups.
- Understand community development work.
- Confident using MS packages and patient databases/customer records systems.

Emotional Wellbeing & Mental Health Lead Practitioner - Pause

A permanent role, with project funding until March 2025 (extension dependent upon funding).

37 hours per week (including some unsociable hours, evenings and weekends)

Salary of £32,839.52 per annum (plus allowances).

Locations: various locations across Birmingham including home working. 

The Children's Society has been helping children, young people and young adults (CYPYA) in this country for over 140 years. We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We're there for children, every step of the way. 

This role sits within our Youth Impact directorate, which works to provide one-to-one support for children who need support. Your role will be to help us maintain and develop innovative practice to support our work in our services around the country.

A fabulous opportunity has developed within The Children's Society for an Emotional Wellbeing & Mental Health Lead Practitioner at the successful Pause service delivered, in partnership with Forward Thinking Birmingham.

You will be part of the innovative 'Pause' service staff and volunteer team with mental health experience to provide interventions for anyone with a Birmingham Gp who is 0 - 24 years old. The Pause service utilises early-intervention approaches to enhance CYPYA mental health and wellbeing, allowing access to timely and flexible support. We offer a truly different way of delivering access to mental and emotional health support. We don't want young people to feel like they must reach crisis point to get the help they need. We don't want young people to feel like they don't deserve a place to go because their worry is 'too small.' We don't want young people to have to wait to receive the care they deserve.

We are looking for a Lead Practitioner who:

-Has experience of management and supervision of staff and volunteers,

-Has a genuine passion and working knowledge of young people and mental health,

-Is energetic, adaptable, able to offer innovation and ideas to support this evolving service, 

-Has a background or worked in Health Care, Education, Youth Work or Social Work,

-Can provide direct low level therapeutic support that is person centred,

-Can work at various locations across Birmingham,

-Can work on regular Saturdays and evenings.

It is imperative that the successful applicant has a good working knowledge of Mental and Emotional Health Issues that young people face today, including interventions on how to support young people in overcoming these challenges. Due to the fast-paced environment and use of computers for clinical record keeping, you will need to have a good level of IT skills.  You will need to have experience of young people participation on all levels.
