Katherine Low Settlement is a busy, local charity that has been serving Battersea and the wider Wandsworth community since 1924. We are dedicated to building stronger communities and enable people to challenge and find ways out of poverty and isolation.

We run a range of our own community services to support local older people and children, young people, and their families from refugee communities. We campaign for social change. We incubate and support other charities and social businesses to thrive. Each week we work with 30+ charities and community groups supporting more than 1,000 people.

Katherine Low Settlement’s work with older people 

Katherine Low Settlement has worked with older people since its conception in 1924.They are a core part of the community that we continue to work with. We provide, often in partnership, a range of projects and activities for older people including health and wellbeing; creative arts; intergenerational work; connecting people and trips/outings. 

Our services include Battersea Bites, Age Well and Core social activities and digital inclusion.

We work with people 50+ to: 

• Encourage active and independent living 

• Reduce isolation and loneliness 

• Improve well-being and prevent ill-health 

• Engage members to be dynamic and contributing members of the Wandsworth community.

Key Objectives for this Role 

Oversee the day-to-day running of our Battersea Bites Programme that includes a lunch club for people 50+ that runs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and a healthy eating session on Mondays. This includes leading in the planning, shopping and preparation and provision of meals, the responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen including overseeing a team of volunteers and ensuring compliance with relevant Health & Safety and Food Hygiene requirements. 

Roles & Responsibilities 

Planning 

• Plan and develop a monthly lunch service menu, a month in advance, using creative license to provide nutritious, varied, and satisfying meals that meet diverse dietary requirements (e.g., allergies, cultural needs, vegetarian/vegan options) while strictly adhering to Health & Safety and food hygiene regulations. 

• Develop ideas for Battersea Bites Healthy cook and eat/ other sessions with the Age Well Team.

• Handle purchases and expense tracking using the Soldo card, ensuring full compliance with the bank card usage policy, and submitting all receipts and records promptly and accurately for financial oversight and reporting, for which training can be provided.

• Create several themed menus throughout the year which will engage members. For example, a Summer Lunch, an Afternoon Tea, etc.

• Support the planning of the older people’s lunch club with older people themselves

• Support the Elders team to welcome and support new members to feel part of the programme. 

Delivery 

• Complete a weekly food shop either online (we currently use Asda delivery service) or locally, buying fresh ingredients weekly which fall within the financial budget. 

• Prepare, cook and serve healthy meals, ensuring dietary needs are met 

• Undertake stock control such as stock rotation, ensuring all food items are labelled with expiry dates and disposed of when necessary. 

• Ensure all equipment is ready and set up for the lunch club service. 

• Ensure the security of the kitchen and store cupboards to provide a safe working environment. (Our cupboards are locked.)

• To ensure routine day-to-day as well as specialised cleaning of kitchen equipment, work surfaces, kitchen floors and storage areas. 

• Keep accurate and up-to-date records, including the health and safety folder containing opening and closing checks. Training can be provided.

• Ensure your hygiene and cleanliness are of the highest standard, and those of anyone entering the kitchen, including volunteers, are suitably dressed and uphold the same standards 

• Be part of and work closely with the Elders Team at KLS 

• Support elders who attend the club so that the sessions are safe and enjoyable for them.

• Inform the Manager (or in their absence the Head of Service) of any concerning incidents, compliments, complaints or accidents (including safeguarding issues).

• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills by quickly and calmly addressing kitchen challenges and ensuring smooth meal preparation under pressure.

• Take part in the monitoring and evaluation of the programme under the guidance of the Managers of the 50+ programme

• Coordinate with staff and volunteers to ensure efficient meal service.

• To attend any relevant training sessions to ensure that you are fully equipped to perform your role effectively

• To actively assist in the continuation of our high food hygiene rating

• Have acquired or are willing to Level 2 and Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate

• Actively participate in meetings such as supervision and appraisals, and staff meetings. The manager reviews progress, reflects on goals, and completes agreed actions and tasks within set deadlines to support ongoing development and programme success.

Coordination of Battersea Bites Volunteers 

• Form and build positive working relationships with volunteers who work within Battersea Bites. 

• Take responsibility for coordinating individual volunteers and respond effectively to their feedback, and report any concerns to the Core Manager.

Undertake Other Duties

• To comply with any reasonable request from KLS Management to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in this job description.

Person Specification 

Essential Experience & Skills

• Track record of catering and basic cooking
• Proven experience of working or volunteering with older and/or vulnerable people in community settings
• Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
• Understanding of healthy eating and nutrition
• Full understanding of health & safety, including food hygiene (though training is also provided)

Job Description

Responsible for:

Advising food bank clients and conducting assessments with people who are experiencing financial crisis or hardship and struggling to pay off debt. Required to provide advice through various service delivery points, including outreach locations.

Responsible to: Team leader, and Service Delivery Manager

Base Location: The LSFB Community Hub, Wigston, Leicestershire

Hours: 20 Hours per week

Term: Fixed Term until October 2026. This may be extended dependant on further funding opportunities

Salary:£13.50ph

Main Responsibilities

● Uphold the aims and principles of the Helping Hands Community Trust and the Leicester South Foodbank.

● Work within the service’s ethos and values, especially regarding equality and discrimination.

We are looking for a highly skilled Programmes & Operations Manager with a minimum of three years’ administrative experience to provide professional, inclusive, and efficient administrative support across DanceSyndrome’s Community programme and operations. This role is responsible for overseeing and managing the weekly Community timetable, and all associated administrative processes, co-ordinating key systems, and ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations, particularly in relation to session bookings, CRM management, and team co-ordination.

Reporting & Market Insight:

Skills & Knowledge:

As Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the design, delivery, and oversight of behaviour change and engagement projects, as well as leading and supporting the delivery team. This role will require travel and work at various locations across London and the Southeast area as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.

Mind in Enfield and Barnet is a fast-growing charity in North London providing much needed therapy, wellbeing support and advocacy services to people with mental health problems. 

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Health & Wellbeing Practitioner to work with a new partnership of Unified Community Assistance Network Enfield. UCAN Enfield is a consortium led by Age UK Enfield, with delivery partners from One to One, Mind in Enfield and Barnet, Wellbeing Connect, Bread n Butter, Cooking Champions and Middlesex Association for Blind.

We offer a range of services and activities to promote health and wellbeing and independence to residents aged 18+ who may be affected by sensory loss, autism, mental health conditions, long-term health conditions, and people whose voices are seldom heard.

Our specialist programme has been designed to be inclusive for all, and includes healthy eating and nutrition, cookery workshops, exercise and wellbeing groups. We also deliver peer support groups and lead the Adult Autism Hub.

Duties will include:

• Working alongside UCAN Enfield partners to co-produce and support the delivery of a programme of health and wellbeing sessions in the community that meet a range of needs from general population to specific conditions
• Attending community activities to meet new potential referrals and engage with participants.
• Managing shared UCAN Enfield Email inbox on a rota basis and loading new referrals onto Charity Log.
• Using Charity Log (CRM) to access and manage referrals by triaging and determining their level of need 1,2,3* and allocating the appropriate support which may include referring to other UCAN Enfield partners or referring to other partners.
• To manage a case load of 25 new referrals per month.
• To work alongside UCAN partners to ensure that referral pathways are established and maintained with GP’s, Enfield community organisations, VCS, Social Care, Health Teams, pharmacies.

This is a full-time position, 35 hours per week covering the service between 9-5 Monday to Friday. Salary is £27300 per annum.

The role is based at Enfield Mind office at 275 Fore Street, N9 0PD. You may be asked to work from other locations, as and when required.

As the Out & About 50+ Project officer, your main focus will be to provide hands-on support to help older clients regain their confidence and independence. You'll work with individuals who would benefit from a short-term, 5-week program designed to encourage them to venture out into the community, participate in activities, and expand their social networks.

In this role, you'll be the driving force behind promoting our new service. You'll identify older people who could use a helping hand, understand their goals and dreams, and uncover any obstacles they face. Your mission will be to provide personalized, short-term support to help them achieve these goals and rediscover the joy of being active and engaged in their community.

• Promote the new service across the Vale of Glamorgan.
• Identify older people who would benefit from the service and establish their goals and aspirations.

• Assist with transport support, encouraging the use of personal and public transport.
• Ensure that clients are capable of going out on their own after the 5-week program. If additional support is needed, facilitate a pathway for individuals to transition into Age Connects volunteer-supported services for continued assistance

We’re looking for a Programme & Engagement Coordinator to help us build spaces where local people and local businesses can come together, share ideas, navigate tough conversations, and steer real investment into their neighbourhoods. You’ll support communities to learn shared decision-making, conflict management, and creative collaboration.

You’ll be joining a small, ambitious team on a mission to shift power to those most excluded from it while showing the wider social sector that there’s a better way to fund change. Over the past five years, we’ve distributed over £1 million through community-led grants and social investment, and we’re just getting started. 

What you'll do & be responsible for:

• Co-design and facilitate participatory processes, including idea generation, panel deliberation, decision-making, and feedback.

• Recruit and encourage residents to participate in all aspects of our work.

• Design engaging workshops, visuals, and narratives to make our processes accessible.

• Use creative facilitation tools to ensure inclusive participation and capture insights that shape decisions and outcomes.

• Lead on projects: conduct desk research, analyse data, monitor social media, take notes, arrange meetings,

• Support the delivery of social media and communications content.

• Build strong and lasting relationships with local communities, organisations, and businesses.

• Advocate for community-led initiatives and connect BD Giving with local people, organisations and businesses.

• Demonstrate curiosity and take initiative and to explore new ways of working, challenge established processes, and share learning with the team.

Location: Office in central Barking but we work across London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. Work from home once a week. 

Hours: 28 hours per week (full time, as we are a 4-day week business, but evening work sometimes required) 

Salary: £32,000 - £34,000 per annum

This role sits within the Mission and Evangelism Directorate. The role will seek to develop our safeguarding culture and practice. The Safeguarding Lead will work with individuals across all of Church Army including our employees, Commissioned Evangelists, and Mission Community. We are seeking a Network Support Lead (London & South East) to join our team.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering Doorstep Sport offers and support for the network of Locally Trusted Organisations based in the region who support young people from low-income communities to be (more) physically active.

The role involves:

• Working closely with the Network Support Team and the London & South East Place Team to implement regional plans, which ensure that projects, offers and support to Locally Trusted Organisations (LTOs) are effective
• Overseeing and directly delivering a range of workshops and courses, creating and maintaining a safe, supportive, interactive and enjoyable learning environment in all delivery
• Delivering support to the workforce within Doorstep Sport beyond the workshop environment through CPD groups, bite-size learning and other opportunities for improving practice
• Co-ordinating the gathering of monitoring and evaluation information for funder reports, in relation to outputs and outcomes of projects delivered across the region/nationally

Opportunity to pioneer work with children of all ages within the local community at an exciting Community Hub. The Rising Generation Pastor will oversee a team of children's and youth workers, supporting them in offering a wide range of groups and events. 

Overall responsibilities include:

- Overseeing all areas of ministry to the rising generation (0 - 18 year olds) within the church and the local community, including holding the overall vision.

- Line managing the youth team including the Assistant Youth Pastor, PAIS Apprentice team leader and Trainee Kids and Families Pastor.

- Engaging with local schools and building on existing relationships.

- Overseeing the rising generation budget and engaging with the fundraising team to seek funding opportunities.

General Duties:

- To find and initiate innovative ways of engaging with children, young people and their families both within the local community and those already engaged with church.

- To work with the Rector, the PCC and rising generation team in growing the St Peter's vision and strategy for reaching the rising generation in our local community and helping them grow as followers of Jesus.

- To oversee the running of a range of different activities and projects for children and young people in the St Peter's Community and Youth Hub.

- Work alongside mission partners such as PAIS and Scripture Union.

- To visit local schools regularly and lead acts of worship within them.

- To lead lunchtime and/or after school activities in schools, including expanding use of our Youth Alpha material.

- To assist in providing chaplaincy as requested within the local schools and to seek opportunities to grow mission.

Safeguarding

- To oversee the Children's and Youth Ministry in a way that follows National Safeguarding Guidelines.

- To respond effectively and appropriately to any safeguarding concerns as they arise, following the safeguarding protocol.

- To build and maintain consistent appropriate relationships with children and young people in person (employed staff or volunteer team members must not engage in exclusive or romantic relationships with young people under the age of 18 or vulnerable adults as this against the law and could result in prosecution).
