About the Position

Our Policy and Public Affairs Officer connects with and influences politicians and senior decision makers to make society better for people who have mental health challenges, have mental illness and their families. They shall manage projects that shall lead to improvements in support for those with poor mental health.

Key Responsibilities

In this critical role you will work closely with the Director of Public Affairs and Communications to develop and implement a policy and influencing strategy to ensure that the voices of people we support, and their families are heard in all the places they need to be. You will manage projects related to mental health and provide reports.

You will build powerful relationships with politicians, civil servants and partners and feel comfortable representing the organisation at a range of different stakeholder events. You will love policy and public affairs, enjoy mastering details and offering sound advice. You will respond on behalf of the organisation to consultations and events and will be comfortable doing lots of reading and writing. You will enjoy building powerful and meaningful relationships.

General Duties:

• To ensure that Change Mental Health have a robust policy and public affairs process in order, to respond to events and consultations, set up meetings with influencers, write briefings for those meetings and record our interactions on the Lobbying Register.
• Develop and implement a policy and public affairs strategy which means Change Mental Health engage with external stakeholders, have key messages disseminated and ensure that the voices of our members and the people we support are heard at all levels. 
• Ensure that Change Mental Health’s Public Affairs and Stakeholder policies are kept relevant for our staff and promoted throughout the organisation.
• Collaborate on key communications documents and channels, including our newsletter, website and support the high-quality use of our social media channels.
• Manage projects that improve the outcomes of those with poor mental health and wellbeing. When agreed, engage with parliamentarians and stakeholders, representing Change Mental Health and advocating for our policy agenda 
• Take ownership of policy developments in fields relevant to Change Mental Health’s work and  ensure you are up to date and well informed of recent developments. 
• Write briefings for the Director of Public Affairs and Communications, the CEO, and Board as needed.
• Write briefings for debates in Parliament and communicate with members of Parliaments.
• Write reports for projects relating to mental health and wellbeing.
• Organise and undertake the administration of events that support our policy platform whether that be events at party conferences, cross party groups, parliamentary receptions or other activity that support the charity.
• Network and build relationships with different stakeholders across the private, third and state sectors.
• Support the work of the National Rural Mental Health Forum, organising meetings and reporting on impact.
• Act in accordance with Data Protection legislation.  Ensure all records, personal, staff and client data are managed in line with Data Management and Information Governance policies
• Comply with legal and regulatory requirements such as provisions set out in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

You will work closely with our existing team, supporting the delivery and organisation of the IntoUniversity programme in the centre.

The main duties of the role

To deliver the IntoUniversity programme effectively to children and young people in different settings, including schools-based workshops, Academic Support sessions and educational visits. This includes positive behaviour management and adherence to the IntoUniversity safeguarding policy.

• To assist with the organisation and delivery of the Academic Support, FOCUS and Mentoring Programmes.
• To assist the IntoUniversity Centre Leader in liaising with schools and other partner bodies, in organising the classroom and resources and in planning project delivery. 
• To update and maintain IntoUniversity displays, publicity and resources.
• To work with the IntoUniversity Centre Leader to recruit children and young people to the programme, including after-school Academic Support and FOCUS Weeks. 
• To develop educational resources and worksheets for use across all IntoUniversity programmes.

Additional 32 hours (or 8 days of 4 hours each)

These will be agreed between you and your line-manager, and may include days during school holidays. They will typically include three whole team meetings, one delivery team meeting and the annual staff conference. These will be pro-rated based on when you join in the academic year.

The Director of Finance is responsible for the efficient and effective leadership and management of the Gallery’s finance, governance and commercial activities. With scrupulously high standards, they will drive the quality and transparency of financial management and reporting, ensuring robust financial controls and the smooth running and management of the Gallery’s finances. A key member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Finance contributes to shaping and implementing the Gallery’s strategic development.

Candidates will be able to demonstrate a proven ability in leadership and financial control within a complex organisation, managing people and limited resources effectively, delivering results, thinking strategically and inspiring and motivating others. They will need to demonstrate a high degree of energy and agility, with the ability to build highly effective, collaborative working relationships at all levels of the organisation. The new Director of Finance will demonstrate a high level of financial and business acumen and strategic insight and will possess strong analytical and project management skills.

We are looking for a fixed term Impact and Evaluation Manager to help us to develop an initial impact and evaluation framework for the organisation. Reporting to our Chief Operating Officer, the aim is to be able to understand, evaluate and learn from our impacts and to track our organisational performance through appropriate data and metrics. It will build on an existing set of metrics that have been developed and provide the foundation for a longer term impact evaluation approach.

Role purpose: 

Lead the development of an initial impact and evaluation framework that will help us to track our progress, demonstrate achievements and ensure accountability.

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Consult and work closely with staff and relevant external stakeholders to review current impact performance tracking across all organisation objectives and identify gaps in or improvements required.

• Lead the development and design of an initial impact and evaluation framework and data collection system for Rewilding Britain, including clearly defined and measurable outcomes linked to our Strategic Plan and Theory of Change. 

• Lead on the collation, analysis and communication of monitoring and evaluation data across the organisation and highlight any key trends. 

• Design a dashboard and reporting mechanisms for presenting the data in a way that is easy to use and understand.

• Contribute towards the continuous improvement of processes, data and our technology to enable the charity to collect and analyse impact and monitoring data on an ongoing basis.

• Champion good data practise for all internal databases to ensure data quality and centralisation of data.

• Extract, interpret, summarise and communicate key stakeholder needs from evaluation and data outputs 

• Work closely with our Data Monitoring Project team to incorporate data from our emerging Rewilding Monitoring Framework into our impact and evaluation framework.

• Produce evaluation reports and the data, stories and case studies for a high quality 10 year Impact Report using this framework.

Terms and conditions and staff benefits

This is a full time, fixed term role for an initial 9 month period, with the possibility of extension. The salary is £37,000 to £42,000 f.t.e depending on experience.

Role purpose:

Internal Auditor is a new post at ShelterBox. The charity has grown significantly in recent years and now the charity is looking for a motivated experienced internal auditor to join the finance team and establish the new internal audit function.

Plan and deliver internal audits to provide assurance that financial and other control procedures are appropriate and implemented as designed.

Plan and deliver work that identifies risks and potential improvements within; ShelterBox’s overseas activities, the way ShelterBox work with Partners, Partner activities, ShelterBox’s approach to UK based financial activities and continually in ShelterBox’s approach to internal audit.

Design, instruct and conduct standard review activities to act as an important element of ShelterBox’s control environment to deter and detect potential fraud, overseas and in the UK.

The work of the Internal Auditor is closely aligned with the work of the International Programmes Team, the person in this role will support and collaborate with the International Programmes Accountant and the Broader team.  This is not just a financial audit brief, our internal audit function will have a remit covering both operational and financial controls. Whilst this role will perform some review of UK controls, its main focus will be upon our overseas humanitarian projects. There should be a willingness and ability to travel internationally at least once per quarter to programmatic locations, some of which may be insecure environments.

Who are we looking for?

A proactive and enthusiastic self-motivated individual with experience delivering high quality Internal Audit services in an INGO setting. Experience in developing services, new competencies or leading on projects will be beneficial to demonstrate skills needed to develop a new service like the Internal Audit Function at ShelterBox.

The successful candidate must have a recognised qualification which implies a thorough knowledge of the principles, procedures and practices of accounting, financial records and

transactions. These can include one of the following: ACA (Association of Chartered Accountants), CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), or ACCA (Certified Chartered Accountant), or international equivalent.

The ideal candidate will be a great communicator and be proven in building and maintaining effective relationships, across teams and with external stakeholders. A communicator able to modify presentation techniques depending on recipients.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

Responsibility for Internal Audit Function

· Responsible for delivery of Internal Audit services that meet the needs of ShelterBox.

· Develop and have approved, terms of reference, common processes, procedures and methodologies for the Internal Audit Department.

· Agree Short, medium and long-term plans for the future Internal Audit Department activities.

· Deliver internal audits to provide assurance that financial and other operational control procedures are adequate, effective and efficient and implemented as designed.

· Deliver internal audits that provide assurance over the stewardship of ShelterBox assets, operational controls and the probity of ShelterBox’s financial reporting.

· Deliver internal audits that provide assurance that ShelterBox and partners comply with UK and overseas legal requirements and contractual obligations.

· Undertake investigations into suspected fraud, or other financial irregularities, whilst complying with best practice and data protection, confidentiality etc

· Respond to requests for assistance and advice from management in respect of any matters relating to systems of control, risk management and governance.

· Work within ShelterBox UK and ShelterBox overseas operations, as well as with partners, affiliates and subsidiaries.

· Support the International Programmes Accountant to deliver effective support for International Programmes team and partners.

· Identify and share common issues highlighted during audits and best practices.

· Support year end accounts preparations by producing deliverable to support the audit or substantiate figures that are incorporated into year end accounts.

· Stay abreast of changes in regulations, and emerging risks to ensure audit processes remain relevant and effective.

Lead and carry-out risk-based internal audits

· Conduct the audit planning process, define the audit scope and prepare the Terms of Reference.

· Organise required logistics arrangements for the audit.

· Prepare the audit work programme.

· Complete and document the audit work (incl. interviews, testing, field visits if applicable and other as appropriate).

· Ensure findings are monitored and implemented.

Ensure good communication with the auditees and communicate the results of audit assignments to relevant internal stakeholders.

· Facilitate the audit kick off meeting.

· Organise and hold debriefing meetings with relevant stakeholders.

· Write the audit report including contextual elements, audit findings, associated risks and recommendations.

· Collaborate with colleagues and partners to develop action plans to address audit findings and track the implementation of corrective actions.

Job Title: Experienced Associate Independent Investigating Officers (IOs) for Stage 2 Complaints (This role sits within our Independent Person for Complaints (IPC) service)

Contract: Associate

Hours: Variable, according to demand for services/caseload and role in investigation

Salary: £25.25 per hour (50% professional rate for travel plus expenses)

Location: Associate Independent Investigating Officers for Complaints primarily work from home. Some travel may be required as part of an investigation – location will vary according to the referral received from the Local Authority. Cases will be allocated to Associate IOs living locally to the referring authority, wherever possible.

About the Role

We are seeking additional experienced Associate Independent Investigating Officers (IO) for Complaints, to increase our capacity to respond to referrals from Local Authorities to provide an independent element to the formal Stage 2 investigations under the Children Act 1989.

The IO will lead investigations, and will give the complainant (who may be a child, young person or adult) the opportunity to express their view, ensure the child or young person’s rights and best interests are at the centre of the investigation and that the investigation/review process is open and transparent. They write a report on the investigation/review, which is submitted to the referring agency.

The Job Description document sets out the expectations for an Associate Independent Person for Complaints (IPC) who is approved by Coram Voice. IPCs are independent, freelance and responsible for their own work. Job Description 

The Finance Manager is responsible for the management and technical support of the Finance function and acts as advisor to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and assists in the development of the organisation’s financial strategy, modelling new projects, preparing budgets and reporting on financial performance. 

You will also be responsible for maintaining accounts on Xero and all related bookkeeping tasks.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Responsibility for bookkeeping on the organisation’s accounting system (Xero);

• Preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts for the organisation and individual cost centres, including variance analysis and reports for the Board. This information should include a short narrative on the current position, future prospects, and financial risks and opportunities. The reports will be tailored as necessary for the Board and management; 

• Provide robust financial information including accurate balance sheets and a rolling cash flow forecast; 

• Act as key point of contact for project budget holders on financial matters;

• Carry out regular reviews of spending under various grants, alerting budget holders and CEO to any actual or potential over or underspend;

• Work with CEO and managers on fundraising bids and financial reports for funders;

• Produce statutory accounts, files and schedules, in partnership with the3million’s accounting firm; 

• Monitor records of all funding and funding sources and the appropriate allocation of incoming funding;

• Monitor monthly accrual of income and expenditure, deferral of income, maintenance of reconciliation to Xero, balance sheet changes and undertake bank reconciliations;

• Monitor the accounts mailbox and ensure invoices are included in the accounting system, answering internal and external queries as they arise;

• Act as main point of contact with banks, service providers, suppliers (when appropriate) and auditors;

• Other duties as requested by the CEO.

Person Specification

The post requires the holder to:

• Have an appropriate accounting qualification – in full or part (AAT, ICAEW, CIMA or ACCA);

• Have a minimum of three years of professional experience, including experience of operating within a not-for-profit organisation (managing accounts for restricted and unrestricted funds);

• Be proficient in Xero Online accounting software and Excel spreadsheets, including experience in using Power Query;

• Be comfortable with the financial systems typical of a small organisation, including financial monitoring and reporting to a range of different funding sources;

• Have some experience of projects finances and understand the financial implications behind an efficient delivery strategy;

Our expert team of canine behaviourists provide behavioural support and advice to teams within Battersea, members of the public, and the rescue organisations we work with around the world. The team design and help implement behaviour modification and training plans for dogs whilst coaching members of the canine care groups through the practical day-to-day steps. They also assist with behavioural and welfare assessments of animals who come into our centres and are on hand to help manage and provide further support with dogs with more complex behavioural needs. The team provide support to dogs during their stay at Battersea, and are also available for continued advice after rehoming.

We are now looking to recruit a Canine Behaviour and Training Advisor for our team in Old Windsor. Within this role, you will work with our operational teams in the assessment and welfare of the dogs in our care and in the provision of behavioural training and advice for staff, volunteers, customers and external organisations. You will be working as part of a care group to create behaviour modification plans, support with handling difficult dogs and make recommendations, along with the individual care group, for individual dog outcomes.

IPD operates in 17 African and Asian countries. PSK is a diverse and motivated group of 20+ technical specialists and advisors, passionate about bringing sustainable WASH to the world's poorest and most marginalised people. PSK leads and supports organisation-wide programme learning and knowledge management, collating and disseminating programme knowledge and facilitating knowledge exchange.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Water Security Lead, the Senior Advisor Water Security co-leads the delivery of core team responsibilities regarding the thematic areas of water and other closely associated topics. Applying a people-centered, systems strengthening approach to WASH, they provide high-quality specialist technical analysis, advisory, and support services to the design, inception, implementation, troubleshooting, monitoring, and/or assessments of WaterAid's programming worldwide, at both strategic and operational levels.

In collaboration with country, regional and global colleagues, they co-lead the facilitation of effective learning and management of technical and programme knowledge across the organisation, and co-leads the development of relevant standards and guidance.

The Water Security Senior Advisor will:

Provide and coordinate targeted technical support to Wateraid programming (approximately 50% of time)

• Provide in-depth strategic and technical advisory support on water security, water resources and environment, catchment and watershed protection, hydrogeology, water supply, water quality, services delivery and management models, engineering and procurement, assets management, resilience, sustainability, and/or other inter-related topics for high quality WASH programming in both urban and rural, low-income settings, including households, schools, health care facilities and/or other relevant public places, incorporating WaterAid's and the sector's leading practices, innovations and methods.
• Coordinate with other technical colleagues for coherent embedding of cross-cutting topics such as gender, climate, systems strengthening, finance, and partnerships.
• Provide high quality, detailed technical analysis and advisory support to project design, inception, implementation, troubleshooting, monitoring, and/or assessments.
• Co-lead the facilitation of thought leadership on these technical topics across the organisation. Act as a subject-matter authority.

Support programme learning and knowledge management (approx. 15% time)

• Co-lead capturing of organisational programme knowledge and experience on water-related topics.
• Co-lead facilitation of effective learning and knowledge management on these topics across the organisation. Guide and support country and regional colleagues to do the same.
• Identify knowledge and implementation gaps on these topics. Coordinate with relevant teams to develop and carry out practical research plans.

Support development of programme guidance and standards (approx. 5% time)

• Co-lead the development of water-related normative frameworks, standards and guidance materials for both internal and external audiences in collaboration with country, regional and global colleagues.
• Support country, regional and global colleagues to develop a consistent understanding and application of water-related technical considerations into WaterAid's core programme work, and in applying relevant guidance, standards and considerations to their specific context.

Support fundraising, external engagement, and communications (approx. 20% time)

• Support donor engagement, intelligence gathering, and preparation of funding proposals.
• Provide strategic technical input into specific strategic initiatives and positioning alongside the other advisors.
• Coordinate with other teams in jointly engaging the WASH sector at all levels. Foster, promote and support global WASH related networks to enhance WaterAid's ability to share its experience and to learn from others.

Contribute to team processes (approx. 10% time)

• Be an integral part of the PSK team, helping to ensure the integration of our support work and a joined-up articulation of our core framing materials.

About You:

• Strong technical experience in water supply engineering, groundwater development, water resource and environmental management, catchment and watershed protection, hydrogeology, water quality, service delivery and management models, procurement, asset management, resilience building, sustainability, and/or other inter-related topics across different settings, demonstrated through a progressive career record.
• A relevant post-Graduate degree or equivalent work experience.
