About us
Who we are
St Joseph’s Hospice cares for people aged over 18 years who have a life-limiting condition which cannot be cured, or who have a terminal illness. Many of the people we care for have illnesses such as cancer, chronic lung disease, heart disease or neurological diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS) or motor neurone disease (MND) but many people have much rarer conditions. We try to improve the quality of life for people with life-limiting conditions and help them live life to the full, to the very end. Supporting families and carers is also an important part of what we do.
Each year, we provide care and support to over 1,700 patients through In-patient, day hospice, community-based and out-patient services to people living in the City of London and the boroughs of Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Newham. More than 500 generous volunteers give their time and skills to support our work, carrying out a wide range of tasks from befriending patients to helping in the gardens.
