Salary: Grade D, salary in the range of £31,437 - £34,659 (includes 11% London Weighting), increases by 2.6% post April 2025, plus benefits.
Role Summary
The Community Fundraising Officer will work closely with the Senior Community and Challenge Events Manager and wider Fundraising team to deliver significant elements of the charity’s fundraising strategy, particularly our community fundraising products. The post holder will be responsible for driving forward our community fundraising campaigns – including the Dry January® challenge community fundraising campaign, which has substantial reach and yet untapped potential.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Fundraising and managing relationships

Build strong relationships - to support delivery of our strategic targets with energy and enthusiasm that will inspire supporters to go the extra mile with their fundraising efforts for Alcohol Change UK.

Keep up to date in sector trends, especially in Community Fundraising, and feedback to the broader fundraising team.

Contribute to the charity’s Fundraising Strategy, in relation to community fundraising.

Work with 3rd party agencies as part of the Dry January® challenge community fundraising campaign.

Build on the foundations of our new ‘Make it Orange’ and ‘Rise and Raise’ community fundraising campaigns, to grow them into successful fundraising initiatives.

Work with the Communications team to keep the community fundraising pages of the website up to date, and to create and promote digital fundraising resources.

Work with the Communications team to create social media content and engaging adverts and campaigns.

Develop and deliver recruitment campaigns across multiple channels.

Create materials to support our community fundraisers.

Engage and inspire staff and volunteers to share and support our community fundraising initiatives.

Maintain effective communications and good relations with donors and volunteers, keeping them updated on our work and achievements.

Update our fundraising database, ThankQ, ensuring accurate and useful recording.

Ensure all community fundraising activity is fully compliant with legal, regulatory, and organisational standards.
Cross-organisational Role

Work closely with colleagues across the charity to support their work and to act as ‘one team’.

Work closely with colleagues in the Communications team, optimising opportunities for joint working, especially to champion the community fundraising campaigns to maximise their potential.

Summary of the role:
The Supporter Relations Engagement Team is involved in the planning and development of programmes and projects that puts supporter engagement at the heart of everything do we do. They play a pivotal role in making Muslim Aid more data and insight driven in the way we fundraise and communicate with supporters. The team’s aim is to increase the depth and value of supporter relationships whilst also encouraging repeat giving and overall supporter retention through targeted engagement strategies.
Working within the Supporter Relations Engagement Team, you will develop a supporter centric approach to planning effective multi-channel, multi-product supporter journeys to grow loyalty, engagement, and income. We are looking for someone with an audience and data insight driven approach to identify moments that matter and key touch points to improve the supporter experience. By doing this, you will ensure that each touchpoint across the supporter experience is engaging, effective and reflects Muslim Aids brand and values.
As a confident communicator you will help develop a culture based on understanding and interpreting supporter behaviours and motivations. Using this information, you will lead on mapping journeys and engagements across communications, campaigns and the fundraising portfolio to maximise a supporter’s lifetime value.
About the Role:
- Create new innovative supporter journeys to increase engagement, loyalty and improve income generation.
- Deliver improved supporter journeys and care strategies using insights, evidence and feedback.
- Deliver exemplary Supporter care and stewardship that builds loyal and committed supporters through high quality personalised engagement.
- Collaborate with the Data Analysis team to manage supporter preferences ensuring best practice regarding data protection, data collection and to maximise cross sell opportunity.
- Incorporate supporter care best practice and emerging approaches into activities so that the organisation remains positioned to effectively engage/manage donors.
- Provide general administrative assistance in support of the smooth running of the Supporter Relations Department.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Significant supporter/customer care skills obtained from the commercial or charity sectors.
- Proven engagement developing internal relationships across a complex organisation – working with internal clients to develop and adapt briefs to improve supporter engagement.
- Experience of working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
- Experience of developing innovative and creative engagement programs for supporters/donors.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to liaise effectively with people at various levels.
- Good organisation, coordination and project management skills.

Community Engagement Officer (Service Delivery Hub pilot)
This fixed term role is all about supporting the design, plan and test of our Service Delivery Hub pilot project, working closely with the Head of Hub Development and the wider Dogs for Good team. Building on experience from our other project work, this role will:
· Raise Awareness: Lead initiatives to promote our work, building and developing relationships with organisations that support or connect with our key audience groups
· Community Engagement: Be a key contact for our local Dogs for Good community, including those we support, our volunteers, and potential beneficiaries. Nurture and grow our community and help manage enquiries, provide guidance, and track interest to anticipate future needs
· Volunteer Management: Actively recruit, support, and manage volunteers, leveraging best practices we've piloted
· Fundraising: Seek and prepare responses to local funding opportunities and collaborate with central teams to support existing projects and develop new community fundraising initiatives
· Service Integration: Work with the Dogs for Good team to integrate our services within the Hub for maximum impact, ensuring we have the necessary processes, tools, and materials
· Evaluation and Reporting: Engage in evaluation and reporting to assess the pilot's impact, providing objective feedback and ideas for improvement. Ensure data collection aligns with our Data Protection policy and partner agreements
· Service Support: Assist our service delivery team, for example by finding and coordinating suitable venues for safe and effective service delivery
· Safeguarding: Monitor and take appropriate steps to safeguard clients, including vulnerable children and adults, in line with our Safeguarding Policy
· Additional Tasks: Perform any other tasks as agreed with your line manager
This role is very much helping to shape and trial our pilot project, so elements of the role and specific tasks will develop as the project progresses – the areas above are the main areas of focus.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Mobilising community groups
1. Build and maintain relationships with synagogues and denominations.
2. Work with clergy, synagogues and denominations to develop programmes and content related to refugees, asylum, social cohesion, and xenophobia, including a network of advocates and ambassadors within communities.
3. Develop outreach and recruitment pathways for community members to volunteer in HIAS+JCORE projects and beyond.
4. Develop and pilot a project of community-based volunteering, building relationships with sector partners and Jewish communities to support, resource, and network such groups.
5. Support the coordination between and development of local community projects that engage with asylum seekers and refugees, including Drop Ins, community sponsorship (Welcome Circles), and collections.
6. Where possible, foster interdenominational dialogue and interfaith partnerships.
Developing and delivering our youth and student work
1. Work with youth movements, students, and community groups to develop programmes and content related to refugees, asylum, social cohesion, and xenophobia.
2. Arrange visits, including with speakers, to campuses and communities.
3. Develop new and innovative programmes in national, campus-wide, and online contexts.
Developing partnerships across the community
1. Developing relationships with organisations across the Jewish community.
2. Organise high quality, collaborative events, campaigns and projects, including developing both Refugee Shabbat and Refugee Week as key aspects of the communal calendar.
3. Bring together high-quality content for other Jewish community events and activities.
4. Build a network of skilled advocates for refugees and social cohesion.
Administration and Evaluation
1. Work to develop a monitoring and evaluation framework for projects.
2. Provide regular reports for trustees and funders.
3. Work with HIAS+JCORE staff to secure funding for the project, such as through producing reports.
4. Keep accurate records, and working with HIAS+JCORE office staff to develop and update the CRM.

Our research has highlighted the lag faced by the community sector in its transition to net zero – no longer burning fossil fuels – compared to the domestic housing sector. Key responsibilities
1. To co-create and implement an effective community engagement strategy for the new Heat Development Company involving the three existing grantees on the programme, in particular giving consideration to the ways in which the Heat DevCo’s new investees can best work with local residents to make the case for electrification. To be the first point of contact for the pioneer grantees, and for the programme’s first set of development sites, ensuring that excellent communications are designed and implemented, and that questions and concerns are answered in a timely and informed way.

Through attendance to present the Heat Development Company, answering questions and reporting key feedback, ensuring that internal development work effectively reflects a wide set of views and experiences. To be an accessible and responsive contact point for SIB’s work on heat decarbonisation, taking a creative and inclusive approach to outreach and information sharing.
7. To support the coordination and project management of business development in community energy, heating and cooling, social investment fundraising and capacity building, supporting Business Development colleagues with relevant case studies, customer viewpoints and grassroots experience.
