We help thousands of cats across the UK each year thanks to our network of dedicated volunteers, employees and supporters.
A bit about the role
As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. ● Help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections
● Help at fundraising events such as Quiz nights, cake sales and dances
● Promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events
What are the benefits to you and the cats?
You’ll meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers. By being the link between members of the public and Cats Protection, the money you collect will make a significant contribution to improving the lives of cats and kittens
We’re looking for someone with
● A friendly, outgoing outlook
● An affinity with people
● Willingness to be part of a team
● A passion for feline welfare
Time expectation
This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.
We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. Great opportunity to make a real difference to lives of homeless and vulerable people in West London. Co-ordinating, organising and supporting our historic events calendar.
The charity.
The Upper Room has been supporting both homeless and ex-offender communities since the early 1990's. Over the years we have grown with demand and have a range of structured programmes and projects that support vulnerable and disadvantaged people in West London. in 2023 we cooked and served c33000 free hot meals, and enabled more than 40 people from the prison system to attain their driving licences. In 2024, these numbers are increasing again - so we're working both harder - and smarter, to keep up with the ever-increasing demand. Over the years we have built a varied events programme, drawing in both existing and new supporters, raising local awareness about what we do and of course generating much-needed income.
The role
Is planning, co-ordinating and managing an events calendar which runs mainly from Winter into Spring. This includes our Christmas Carol concert, a series of 3 lectures/'an evening with' spoken word events featuring local stars from stage and screen and the broader arts world, a quiz night and attendance at the local flagship event in June each year - The Green Days Festival in Chiswick. Each event will have its own admin trail and the need for regular chasing and confirming roles and actions with all participants - sometimes with TUR staff, sometimes with other volunteers, and sometimes with various celebs and their agents. Being present at each event (mainly evenings apart from Green-Days which is over a weekend in June) in a mix of overseeing and hands-on roles to make sure everything runs smoothly is also an essential part of the role.
About you
Ideally you have some experience of setting up and managing events in a professional capacity - but this is not essential. If you are a high energy, highly organised person who is passionate about giving something back to their community, we would still very much like to hear from you. This is a hugely worthwhile volunteer role with a highly measurable impact, it will have its challenges so we are looking for someone who can take things in their stride and essentially 'keep calm and carry on' ! Not every event runs exactly to plan, so the ability to plan contingencies and be creative is highly advantageous.
Making sure nobody, socially or financially excluded in West London goes without help, supporting those in need, enabling those with potential

We are ShelterBox.
ShelterBox is made up of people who believe in shelter as a human right – that shelter from the chaos of disaster and conflict is vital. No ifs. No buts. We work to change this by providing emergency shelter and essential items after disaster.
We don’t believe that one size fits all. We work hard to understand the impact of each emergency and the need this creates within individual communities.
ShelterBox was founded by volunteers over 20 years ago and volunteers still play a vital role in the work we do. Last year our volunteer ShelterBox Ambassadors in the UK engaged with over 30,000 people, raising awareness and funds to support us in this vital work.
Become a ShelterBox Ambassador and join a network of humanitarians across the globe who want to see that no one is without shelter.
ShelterBox is committed to working towards a future where no one goes without shelter, but we have our work cut out for us. In 2022, over 113 million people were displaced by conflict and disaster. Some projections suggest that this figure will grow to 200 million within 10 years.
In this Ambassador role, you will be amplifying the voices of the people affected by disaster and conflict, by sharing their stories. You will also be raising awareness and understanding of the disaster relief work we do. The ripple effect of your talks will lead to individuals fundraising and increase communities’ engagement with ShelterBox. Without people like you, we would not have the capacity to reach new audiences or to spread these important stories.
Who are you?
- Passionate, caring, motivated, wanting to make a difference.
What could you do?
- Give talks, attend events, organise activities, support with our campaigns.
What impact will you have?
- Raise funds, raise awareness, recruit other ambassadors.
What will you get in return?
- Meet like-minded people, receive training and support, gain experience and satisfaction, a flexible role to suit you.
Want to know more?
· You will need to be self-sufficient, as this is primarily a lone working role. However, there will be opportunities to connect with other volunteers and ShelterBox throughout the year.
· We’ll never pressure you into taking on a talk or activity. All we ask is that volunteers take part in 8 activities throughout the year.
· You may need to be able to drive or use public transport but it is not essential. You could give talks online instead on platforms such as Teams and/or Zoom.
· You can make the role your own, by adapting talks and creating your own opportunities. We can support you if you have an idea how to use your network of contacts or local knowledge to create your own local fundraising event.
· We are committed to creating a culture in which equity, diversity and inclusion are championed and valued across our international organisation and in all our work, and the personal responsibilities we are all expected to uphold as part of our roles here.
What to expect from us.
· Online training (both onboarding and ongoing opportunities).
· A t-shirt, name-badge, and other materials.
· Access to our Volunteer Resource page where you’ll find digital guides, case studies of people we have helped, resources for your chosen activity (including pre-prepared PowerPoint presentations and notes for Speakers).
· Access to and training in using our online portal to manage your diary and sign up for talks and events in your community.
· Buddying and shadowing opportunities with other volunteers.
· Support and guidance from a dedicated and passionate team who believe in the importance of volunteers.
· Fortnightly newsletters with the most up-to-date information.
Next steps.
We ask everyone to complete an application form, which is followed up with an informal interview (by phone/Zoom/Teams). If you and I both feel it’s a suitable role for you, we will take up references and then organise an induction for you.
Thank you for your interest in joining the ShelterBox family.

Stoke Newington Music School CIC
Provide music lessons to the 'Forgotten Segments' of society
At Stoke Newington Music School CIC, we are deeply committed to addressing the social challenges that many in our community face, particularly those often left behind by traditional music education programs. We focus on three 'Forgotten Segments' of the community:
1) Low-Income Families 2) Neurodiversity (with a specific focus on Special Educational Needs and Physical Disabilties) 3) People Over 65
We believe in the transformative power of music to build communities, enhance mental and physical well-being, and make a lasting social impact. However, in today’s climate, these groups are often overlooked, despite being the ones who could most benefit from access to music education and the emotional support that comes from people who care about them.
At Stoke Newington Music School CIC, we are committed to making these benefits accessible to everyone in our community. Through our programs, we aim to combat loneliness, promote social inclusion, and provide affordable music education to those who need it most. We believe that music has the power to inspire, heal, and bring people together, and we are proud to be a part of this journey for so many in our community.
