This role sits within the Community Education and Training team, working to support our learners to access, complete and progress through our wide range of adult learning provision. The main focus will be on providing additional support for learners who need wrap-around support relating to a range of additional personal and educational needs. This could include welfare, personal and family support and wider mental health and wellbeing support or additional learning needs such as dyslexia, ADHD, literacy support and other needs.

You will work with the team to implement strategies and support plans for individuals to aid learning and enhance educational experience. You will support the team’s administrator to monitor learner’s attendance, contacting them via phone, email or arranging a meeting in person where pastoral support is needed.

You will work with our Adult Safeguarding Lead to support safeguarding cases across our departments, including keeping safeguarding records, making referrals and building a database of local support services available to learners and other service users.

We are looking for a dedicated individual who is passionate about supporting learners to ensure they have the best opportunity to thrive on their learning journey.

You will also support wider functions in the team such as contributing to the organisation of our termly learners’ forum to celebrate achievement and attending events in the community to publicise our work.

The successful applicant will have experience of working with vulnerable individuals or groups, be committed to safeguarding, have excellent administration skills, be flexible and excited about being at the heart of a busy team and committed to providing an excellent service to High Trees’ users.

The Evaluation Manager is key role within the Impact and Insights Team, responsible for evaluating the service delivery programme at Magic Breakfast – this includes evaluating new pilot approaches, assessing the impact, driving continuous improvement and shaping our offer enabling us to tackle child morning hunger today. 

The Evaluation Manager is pivotal in spearheading the strategic planning, delivery and dissemination of Magic Breakfast’s day-to-day evaluation activity, as part of the wider Impact and Insights Team’s approach to communicating research, evaluation and insights. They will hold responsibility for planning, coordinating and delivering a comprehensive programme of evaluation projects to support evaluation and impact measurement, continuous improvement, business development and communication. Our ideal candidate for this role will have experience in social research or programme evaluation.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Avenues Youth Project is recruiting a part-time HR Manager who will work to manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle across our youth centre. This standalone HR position reports to the Chief Executive and will manage and continue to develop all HR practices and processes, working with the various managers to improve the quality of working life at The Avenues. This role is crucial in ensuring the organisation attracts, recruits, develops and retains high-performing team members.

Ideally you will have experience of working as an HR Manager, we recognise that some elements of the role can be learned. Therefore, this role could suit someone who has solid HR experience at an Administrator level but who is proactive and self-sufficient.

ABOUT THE AVENUES YOUTH PROJECT

The Avenues Youth Project is an exceptional youth club that guides disadvantaged children and young people to explore and develop new skills, connect with their peers and our trusted staff, and find their confidence. The Avenues offers free-to-access fun and meaningful after-school and holiday activities led by trained youth workers. Our excellent facilities include training kitchen, music recording studio, podcasting studio, arts and craft room, sports hall and classrooms. 

We currently have an active membership of over 1,100 children and young people, and are open 6 days a week, 48 weeks a year. We hold London Youth's Gold Award, the mark of excellence in our sector.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment

Lead on recruitment, including drafting job descriptions, conducting interviews, and managing the selection process. Pre-employment (including Enhanced DBS) and Right to Work checks.

Support managers in attracting and retaining staff who have the necessary motivation, values, skills and tools to deliver.

Design and conduct induction programmes for new employees so that they feel valued and ready to “hit the ground running”.  Regularly review content to ensure that it is fit for purpose. 

Development and Retention

Develop and co-ordinate supervision and appraisal processes to ensure consistency and high performance

Develop a skills matrix and identify training needs on an individual basis and across the organisation.  Be responsible for building the training programme, including rollout and delivery (either in-house, or via approved external providers) so that employees receive relevant training in a timely manner on a regular basis. 

Work with line managers to identify the ambitions and goals of employees so that relevant career focused training can be delivered, enabling high retention for The Avenues.

Engagement

Staff wellbeing: champion and implement initiatives to support mental health, work-life balance, and team cohesion. Staff reward or other motivational scheme.

Instilling values across the HR process; from contracts to supervisions to recognition scheme.

Maximise Employment Hero/Swag to keep employees engaged and up to date.

Initiate and conduct bi-annual staff surveys

Reporting and payroll

Manage timesheets and ensure clocking in/out is correctly observed.

Work with Finance Manager on monthly payroll  

Analyse people related metrics and data to identify trends.  Provide regular reporting to the CE on various metrics and identify areas for improvement, along with recommendations.

Compliance

Liaise with HR provider to ensure compliance with latest employment legislation.

Ensure that all employee and freelancer contracts comply with current laws and policies. Set up and maintain employee personnel files.

In conjunction with HR provider, Neathouse, conduct regular reviews of employment policies and the Employee Handbook to ensure compliance and best practice.  Communicate any changes to the workforce as needed. 

Champion EDI across the organisation and ensure that EDI is embedded in all people related processes across the organisation.

In the event of conflict, to support both the employee and line manager by ensuring there is a process for dispute resolution that is legally compliant, and to help identify solutions.

Review and implement a plan to ensure compliance with the Worker Protection Act, to ensure that Avenues meet requirements and can demonstrate ongoing compliance.

Person Specification.

Past experience working in an HR role, preferably with CIPD5

The Living Wage Foundation was launched in 2011 by Citizens UK to tackle in-work poverty and ensure that workers earn enough to live on and participate in family and community life. Citizens UK is the home of community organising with diverse civil society alliances set up to develop leaders to work on the issues that matter to them, such as the Living Wage. Other projects include Parent Action and Sponsor Refugees to add depth to the impact of Citizens UK’s work. 

The Living Wage is a movement of businesses, organisations and people who believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay. The real Living Wage is an independently-calculated hourly rate based on the cost of living and announced each October ahead of Living Wage Week, our annual celebration of a growing network of over 15,000 Living Wage Employers.

The Living Wage Foundation celebrates employers that voluntarily choose to pay the real Living Wage through an accreditation scheme that recognises a long-term commitment to fair pay and has secured pay rises for 475,000 low paid workers.

Purpose 

The Living Wage Foundation has an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team as a Senior Data and Insights Manager. The role will strengthen network-facing resources and support in a data-driven way, devising and implementing measures to drive membership growth and enhance membership satisfaction. This would include collaborating on research and analysis, translating insights into recommendations to support decision-making, and developing membership content available through to our network. 

The Senior Manager would actively promote greater engagement with our network, demonstrating a commitment to identifying and removing barriers to ensure all members can access the benefits of accreditation. Working under the Head of Operations and Insight, the Senior Manager will need to have excellent data collection and analysis skills, and an ability to translate that analysis into actions for the Living Wage Foundation through strong communication skills. They will also need to be able to build relationships with senior stakeholders, maximising our impact through the development of our membership offer to the Living Wage network. The suitable candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and able to collaborate effectively across the Living Wage Foundation and Citizens UK teams.

Main Responsibilities 

Build and manage projects, and achieve work targets effectively 

• Manage the development and continual improvement of membership services with evidence-based and user-centred design, ensuring network can access benefits. 

• Work collaboratively across the LWF to ensure our membership services offer is joined up and avoids duplication. Focus on working with events, communications, and the membership team.

• Implement processes and mechanisms for evaluating member-facing services and events and champion the use of these findings to guide future work.

• Initiate design and delivery of regular employer network surveys and prepare regular internal analysis and reporting. 

• Work with Research team to conduct regular quantitative network composition analysis and reporting of the Living Wage network, and establish clear ways to present this analysis internally and externally to inform strategic decisions. 

Learning, expertise and inclusion 

• Act as a learning facilitator, providing direct support and training to upskill colleagues across the Foundation to ensure consistency and collaborative working through disseminating good practice and shared learning.

• Oversee the production of membership resources both to promote membership services and as part of them.

• Monitor the business activity of key external and network organisations delivering membership services, analysing relevant performance data and research. 

• Undertake relevant training opportunities that will increase the Foundation’s capability to deliver outstanding membership services. 

• Display awareness of DEI issues, and demonstrate understanding of impact on network data and insights analysis, and membership offer.

Develop and manage external relationships 

• Identify and proactively develop relationships with external research and evaluation partners to develop and refine analysis approach. 

• Provide opportunities for network to give feedback and feel listened to. Act as a conduit for members, giving them a collective voice within the Living Wage Foundation. 

• Manage a diverse range of senior stakeholder relationships related to improving membership services and intelligence, and attending relevant industry events.

• Contribute to and, where required, lead network-facing events and other meetings related to membership offer and network insights. 

• Use appropriate channels to regularly disseminate impact analysis and membership development findings across all levels of the Foundation, ensuring consistency in developing events, resources and support. 

• Collaborate with the Communications Team to act on employer insights and feedback and develop targeted communications promoting our membership offer and our expertise on good work.

Develop and manage internal relationships
