About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Financial Controller to oversee the daily operations of our finance department. This key role ensures accurate financial accounting, effective management of payroll processes, and the control of cash resources. You will work closely with the Director of Finance and Operations to produce robust management accounts, forecasts, and budgets, and manage ad hoc finance projects as needed. Your expertise will ensure that our internal financial controls are both appropriate and effectively operated. The role would suit an experienced Finance Manager or a Financial/Management Accountant looking to take a step up into a broader finance role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the day to day running of a small finance team.
• Produce monthly management accounts and support budget holders in financial planning.
• Ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
• Oversee the management of reporting systems and ensure timely payment of suppliers.
• Manage monthly bank reconciliations, cash flow updates, and ensure proper authorization of payments.
• Oversee payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely payment to staff, tax, and pension bodies.
• Manage tax compliance, including VAT returns, and produce statutory accounts.
• Prepare audit files and manage the audit process.
• Assist with the development of business intelligence tools.

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

• Qualified or part-qualified with ACCA, ICAEW, ICAS, ICSA, or fully qualified with AAT or equivalent.
• Strong management accounting and project management experience.
• Excellent analytical skills with a commercial perspective.
• Proficient in Excel with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable:

• Experience in an arts organization, charity sector, or working on capital projects.
• Familiarity with SORP, Sage 50, and Xero.

At Thrive, we work with people to improve their physical, social and emotional health through gardening. We primarily work with people with disabilities and health conditions. We deliver face-to-face Social and Therapeutic Horticulture (STH) programmes and we are the leading Social and Therapeutic Horticulture training provider in the UK, helping organisations, health and social care professionals and teachers deliver STH. We also provide free resources that help people garden at home, reducing the risk of poor health, and helping people to garden with specific long-term health conditions or disabilities.

Established in 1979, we are an independent charity, funded by donations, trusts and grants, and services paid for by local authorities. We employ 50 staff, supported by 200 volunteers, across our three centres at Reading, Birmingham and London.

About the role:

As well as working with our managed service provider to ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of our IT systems and processes, this role will play a key part in the successful delivery of IT projects (including network migration).

Initially, a significant part of the role will be to manage the migration of our on-premises network to the cloud. This will involve cross-team working to establish site structure and access. An overlapping project will be the implementation of VOIP telephony.

Working across the organisation, with non-technical staff, you will ensure that our IT infrastructure supports and enhances our charitable delivery. 

To succeed in this role, you will have excellent technical knowledge (particularly in Microsoft 365, integrations and CRM platforms) and experience in the IT function of an SME organisation (ideally one with multiple functions and different geographical locations). You will have demonstrable experience of identifying and delivering operational efficiencies.

WellChild, based in the centre of Cheltenham, is the national charity for children with complex medical needs and their families. We fund programmes and services to make it possible for children and young people living with serious illness to be cared for at home instead of hospital.

The WellChild Family Tree is a growing network that exists to connect families across the UK caring for a child with complex health needs with each other and with WellChild. Through its online forum, and programme of activities and communications, it provides members with the opportunity to make friends, make memories and make a change.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well organised person to join us as our Family Information Officer as part of our Family Team. Working alongside the Family Programme Team and wider Programmes Team, this role will fill a critical information gap for the families that WellChild supports and will help the charity attract new and harder to reach families into the WellChild Family Tree network.

Through becoming familiar with relevant policy and guidance for families caring for children with complex medical needs, you will be able to help identify the key issues facing our families and then curate the most relevant, up to date information from a variety of expert sources to help support them whilst also taking the lead on information projects aimed at helping families to thrive at home.

Purpose of the role:

Families thrust into a world of disability and complex care find themselves having to navigate their way through a ‘new normal’ with nowhere to go for relevant information and advice. The result leaves many unaware of their entitlements or the help that might be available. This puts many families under extreme pressure, leading to financial hardship, family breakdowns and emotional strain.

Working within the Family Team and reporting to the Family Programme Manager, this role will continue to develop and expand WellChild’s information provision. This will be achieved through research and delivery of information, tools and advice for families on subjects such as, but not limited to health, legal rights and entitlements, wellbeing and local services.

Job title: Community Engagement Officer

About the role

The British Science Association's mission is to transform the diversity and inclusivity of science. The BSA’s community engagement programmes focus on reaching these groups.

The Community Engagement Officer will provide support in delivering the BSA’s community engagement programmes. This role would suit someone with experience of supporting community engagement programmes.

Key responsibilities: Community Engagement programmes

The main responsibilities are to:

• Support the delivery of the British Science Week Community Grant Scheme and the creation/dissemination of the British Science Week Community Activity Pack
• Provide support for the delivery of the Community Buddies programme, the Community Lead Research Pilot and a Community Grants scheme for a new funder.
• Manage the BSA Communities social media accounts, working with Communications team colleagues
• Coordinate and help to grow the Community Engagement Network
• Manage communications for, and support development of, the Community Engagement Network members including writing newsletters, email updates and working with Comms colleagues to develop blog content
• Support with writing of funding proposals that lead to the growth of the community engagement portfolio
• Support projects delivered by other BSA teams as needed and undertake other duties as reasonably required by the line manager

This is an important time to join The Rufford Foundation, as the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer will play an essential role in encouraging grantees who have already been supported by the foundation to apply for further funding. This is an area of work that we are currently expanding.
This crucial and new role would sit within the conservation team to coordinate the delivery and oversight of Rufford Small Grants.
Rufford Small Grants are renowned for being an important milestone in the careers of conservationists and researchers who may have no (or limited) experience in designing and delivering projects. Therefore, we are very aware that unforeseen issues may arise and are considerate towards requests for project changes. Working closely with the CEO, Grants Manager and Grants Officer, the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer would ensure changes are recorded in updates and project reports.
The Rufford Foundation has been involved with other conservation donors and practitioners looking at the evidence of conservation effectiveness and supporting learning from failure. We fully understand that conservation projects may not succeed as planned and that evaluating small grant project impacts over short timescales (1-3 years) is problematic. The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer would take this into account when reviewing project updates and final evaluation reports.
The ideal candidate will bring previous experience of reviewing (or drafting) donor reports, have excellent analytical and communications skills and be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of biodiversity conservation, ideally with some practical knowledge of conservation in countries where the foundation funds projects. Experience of coordinating work with grantees, including review of workplans, deliverables and budgets, would be highly desirable.
The ideal candidate must be highly organised and proactive, have a keen eye for detail, be confident in their own ability to work independently and methodical in raising points with their line manager and team as appropriate. About the role and team:

Our Philanthropy Lead will join an established High Value team, who collectively raise in excess of £5m+ a year. You'll present and inspire philanthropic support for our work across the board, ranging from our much needed information and support services through to our Parkinson’s Virtual Biotech drug development programme, which is leading the way in driving forward new pioneering treatments. 

What you’ll do:

• Lead the Philanthropy team to deliver our ambitious multi-year income targets 

• Build on the team’s existing strategy, working closely with the Head on the overall strategic direction

• Identify, cultivate and manage relationships with your pipeline of donors and prospects (focused on £100k+ gifts)

• Collaborate with key colleagues and senior volunteers to build the £1m+ transformational gift pipeline

• Oversee, support and coach the Philanthropy team with their prospect/donor cultivation and stewardship activity 

What you’ll bring:

• Craft and passion for as well as extensive experience of successful major donor fundraising, with a track record of securing five and six figure gifts 

• The ability to proactively identify, qualify and generate new prospects to help grow and develop the team’s pipelines 

• Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage, coach, motivate and inspire a high performing team 

• Excellent relationship building and communication skills

• Experience of delivering activity with fundraising boards/senior volunteers

Purpose of the job

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will create a positive impact on young people by delivering effective training and facilitating sessions, translating curriculum and content into engaging and impactful delivery. You will be an expert at holding a room, engaging both youth workers and young people. Alongside this, you will support the project management of the delivery of our provision to the youth sector.

Position 1:

Contract Type: Permanent contract.

Salary: £32,228

Position 2:

Contract Type: 18-month contract – Extension dependant on funding.

Salary: £32,228 (Pro-rata in 2nd Year)

Position 3:

Contract Type: 10-month contract – (Maternity Cover October - August 2025)

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and effective facilitation, training and events across both digital and physical platforms.
• Embed our youth development content and workforce support tools across the youth sector.
• Support the Project Manager with coordination and administration to deliver our evolving digital and physical provision, ensuring it is delivered to the highest quality.
• Schedule and coordinate activity across project work-streams, including the management CRM administration.
• Manage relationships with project stakeholders including delivery partners.
• Conduct visits to youth organisations engaged with both digital and physical delivery.
• Work across the Network Delivery department to embed our provision in a diverse group of organisations across the UK and effectively engage a range of audiences.
• Support the Impact team with monitoring and evaluation of our work as required, including data input and collecting.
• Support the Project Manager to produce reports and presentations as required.
• Support the Project Manager with the development of marketing and communications materials.
• Support the Project Manager to provide opportunities for politicians to engage with the projects.
• Support the Project Manager with launch and end of programme showcase events.

Experience

• Demonstrate significant expertise in facilitation and training particularly in youth development content and/or content for youth workers.
• Experience planning, delivering and hosting events
• Experience coordinating activity on projects

We are looking for an exceptional person to join our team as the Digital Outreach Coordinator. This will be a vital role in the next phase of our development. Reporting to the Missions Lead, you will develop and implement effective, digital outreach solutions that enable Urban Saints to give young people the opportunity to encounter Jesus. Coordinating the creation of relevant content and training, you will equip and support volunteers nationally to reach and engage young people in a digital environment.

As the key individual who will spearhead digital outreach, this is a critical role within Urban Saints. We are looking for someone who both understands and is passionate about the opportunities provided by digital technology for mission. A strong candidate will be 'hands on' and enthusiastic about developing digital outreach to equip young people to make a positive impact in their communities. The role will also require good collaborative and networking skills. An excellent Digital Outreach Coordinator will have a 'can-do' innovative attitude, pioneering new and exciting digital approaches to establish the most effective methods to achieve Urban Saints' mission and amplify its impact.
