Age UK Richmond are a local independent charity providing much needed support to older people throughout the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Our wide range of services have a highly positive and long-lasting impact on the health and wellbeing.  Our friendly and committed team of 45 staff and 100+ volunteers support around 4,000 local older people each year.

This challenging but rewarding new senior position has been created to help us respond to some of these opportunities and challenges.

We are looking for an excellent communicator, strategic thinker and relationship builder with fundraising / development experience. A proactive, flexible and positive approach is also essential, with a keen interest in improving the lives of older people at a local level. 

This central key role within the charity will include:

· Support the delivery of the organisation’s strategic objectives and be involved in the strategy development, business planning and financial planning process working with the CEO.

· Identifying  opportunities to further develop existing services and provide new ones (e.g. for older people with dementia and their unpaid carers) in ways that will improve reach and impact to meet the needs of existing and new generations of older people – working closely with staff at all levels and through the development of external partnerships.

· Developing high quality and successful funding proposals and business cases to support existing work and new development. Research and apply to funding sources aligned with the organisation’s strategy and beneficiary group and build relationships with these funders.

· Leading on specific projects, often working in partnership with other voluntary sector organisations and other stakeholders.  

· Representing the organisation in a compelling and inspiring way.

Areas of Responsibility

Planning and Logistics across Communications and Research: 

• Supporting event planning (e.g. managing venues, hospitality, invitations). 

• Working with our Research team to support fieldwork planning and travel.

• Working closely with our Head of Communications to develop and plan social media posts and email campaigns around our work.

• Planning and managing event logistics from round-tables with senior politicians to our annual conference IncludEd.

• Scheduling of meetings for internal team members, important external stakeholders including journalists, research participants (like our headteachers, parents, young people) and policymakers.

Tracking Press, Research and Data: 

• Ensuring we are aware of upcoming publications and events relevant to our team or community.

Our Immigration Advice Programme

We have a long and proud history of providing immigration advice to the Latin American community and has extensive experience with the varied and complex needs that arise from the UK's ever-changing immigration system. Our Immigration Advice Programme is designed to meet these needs through the provision of specialist one-to-one advice and casework services, delivered in Spanish and Portuguese, as well as identifying and addressing policy changes and how they impact our community.

Our service is accredited by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) and the Advice Quality Standard (AQS). 

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an immigration adviser to lead our dynamic immigration advice team and help shape the future of the programme as part of the senior management team at a fast-growing charity in London. As IRMO's Immigration Advice Programme Manager, you will bring your expertise and experience together to organise, implement and improve our range of immigration services to offer the maximum benefit for our community, in both the short and long term. 

Your responsibilities will include implementing and progressing the programme's overarching strategy; the ongoing development and training of team members; representing IRMO across broader advice networks; and advising on organisational responsibilities related to immigration. You will also have the chance to develop new, cross-over skills beyond advice provision.

Key Experience and Qualifications for the Role

We are seeking a highly qualified Registered Immigration Adviser at OISC Level 2 or 3 with at least two years of recent and continuous relevant experience in immigration. The ideal candidate will also have a minimum of three years of experience managing programmes or projects, particularly in advice and community support services.

The role requires a proven track record in delivering against targets and demonstrated experience in line managing people in a variety of roles, supporting staff to work to their full potential.

As an experienced senior manager with a proven track record of leadership in providing services in prisons and possibly, to women in contact with the Criminal Justice System as well as working collaboratively with other partner organisations, criminal justice services, Ministry of Justice and HMPPS. The post holder will manage the prisons advocacy services and teams for unsentenced and sentenced women within the custodial settings at HMP Peterborough and HMP Bronzefield. She will have a great understanding of the prison systems and regime including some of the challenges faced.

She will build and maintain key relationships, partnerships and contracts with relevant partners and funders, together with the Head of Criminal Justice Services and Director of Criminal Justice Services.

She will be an inspirational leader, responsible for recruiting, developing and managing her team and will be responsible for coordinating, reporting, and the delivery of the related services as commissioned by the Ministry of Justice. She will be accountable for managing her teams safely and securely whilst carrying out all activities within the prison setting.

The post holder will be working primarily from HMP Peterborough with travel across the regions to HMP Bronzefield; twice per month. She will be working 3 days across the week, and the working days will be specified at interview.

A car may be desirable for this role, though not essential

About You:

To be successful as the Senior Service Manager for Prison Services you will need the below experience and skills:

• A thorough understanding of and knowledge of the issues relating to women in the criminal justice system
• A sound knowledge of safeguarding adult and children principles, child abuse, child protection issues and safeguarding
• Experience of working within a custodial setting
• Significant experience of working with women and/or service users with a complex range of needs, particularly within the criminal justice system, in custody and/or community.
• Experience of developing relationships with funders/commissioners and achieving required outcomes.
• Experience of implementing quality assurance frameworks, monitoring, evaluating and measuring impact.
• Strong influencing skills, enthusiasm, self-confidence, excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills , and a can do proactive solution focussed approach
