While this role covers all our External Affairs functions, you'll be particularly expected to have knowledge and expertise in providing leadership in policy-influencing and campaigns. You'll provide leadership of AaA's External Affairs strategy to ensure the needs of autistic children and their families are high on the political and media agenda.
You'll have an externally-facing role in policy influencing, representing AaA in coalitions with relevant government departments among parliamentarians, as well as increasing AaA's profile through an effective communications strategy.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Substantial experience, knowledge and understanding of the policy landscape, including political and legislative processes, and local government structures and processes
- Extensive experience of developing and delivering strategic, integrated communications programmes
- Demonstrable leadership of successful policy-influencing activity, including stakeholder engagement and above/below the line influencing strategies
- Proven experience in strategy development

The Community Forest Trust (CFT) is a charity that supports, enables and champions England’s Community Forests (ECFs). Across England there are 15 Community Forests that deliver social, economic, and environmental impact through woodland creation and restoration. In 2024/2025 they will plant over 2.5 million trees, most of which are funded through Defra’s national tree planting programme, the Nature for Climate Fund Programme.
The Managing Director will have the drive, rigour, and organisational and stakeholder management skills to develop and deliver a new CFT Business Plan. The current Business Plan was developed in 2022 and runs to March 2025. It has now been delivered.
The Managing Director will be responsible for providing the overall leadership and management of CFT and ensure effective governance and compliance with all legal requirements. To fulfil this aim, the Managing Director must ensure that robust structures and systems are in place to deliver CFT’s strategic priorities and CFT’s charitable aims and objectives.

You’ll also:

About us
Ilkley Community Enterprise is a dedicated charity and social enterprise committed to making a positive impact in the community. We run the Outside the Box (OTB) café, which not only serves the local community but also provides valuable learning and work opportunities for young people and adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. Additionally, our OTB services offer a dynamic range of educational, training, and employment programmes, including creative arts, skills development, health and wellbeing, and working life support. Through our CQC-registered homecare company, Carers and Companions, we deliver high-quality care to elderly people n their own homes and provide independent living services for adults with learning disabilities.
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Director of Operations to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with the CEO, Board and management team to ensure operational excellence and organisational effectiveness. Nurturing a high-performance, collaborative culture, you will help drive improvement across all our business operations and services. From developing policies and procedures to enhancing our digital systems, your efforts will help us deliver increased efficiencies and business growth, ultimately supporting our mission to positively impact the lives of those we serve.
As the Director of Operations, you will play a crucial role in financial management, supporting effective business planning, budgeting, controls and performance management. Additionally, you will lead and support our staff, fostering a culture of learning and development, and promoting the values and ethos of our charity. Your strategic leadership will be instrumental in identifying and harnessing business development opportunities, enhancing our offerings, and expanding our reach and impact. Responsibilities include
Operational Excellence:
- Ensure operational effectiveness and continuous improvement.

About this role
As a Director of Services you will:
·Lead, inspire and manage Carers First Community, Helpline and Volunteer Services providing visible leadership and promoting a positive, inclusive culture.
·Refine and develop existing services and develop and mobilise new services/contracts; evidencing outcomes and impact.
· Ensure the highest level of safeguarding practices are in place.
·Drive a culture of continuous learning, nurturing talent, building on strengths and promoting innovation.
· Enable managers to work proactively in coproduction with carers to plan, develop and review services.
·Forge and sustain strong, positive and productive partnerships with Commissioners, partner organisations, funders and key stakeholders.
·Work as a member of the Senior Leadership Team in shaping and delivering our ambitious strategy.

Interview Process
The closing date for applications is 5pm on 13 April 2025. There will be a two stage process.
Candidates who have fully evidenced they meet the requirements of the Person Specification to a satisfactory standard will be long listed and invited to Stage 1.
Stage 1: Week commencing 21 April 2025 - informal online meeting with the Chief Executive to discuss their application.
Following the informal meeting, successfully shortlisted candidates will then progress to Stage 2:
Stage 2: Week commencing 28 April and 5 May 2025 - formal face-to-face interview with the Chief Executive and Trustees. As part of the formal interview, candidates will be required to give a presentation, and details will be provided in advance.

Starlight, the national charity for children’s play in healthcare, is seeking an experienced income and engagement leader to drive income generation, growth and increased engagement with the charity.
No child should suffer avoidable psychological trauma from their healthcare or treatment. Nor should they have to endure anxiety, loneliness and isolation as part of their healthcare experience. Starlight works to ensure every child can experience the power of play, supporting their mental and physical health during treatment and recovery from illness.
There is an urgent need to improve children’s experience of healthcare and their long-term relationship with health; 71% of settings have no designated budget for play resources, and 85% of Trusts and Health Boards have no policies and procedures for play.
Starlight is seeking a Director of Income Generation and Engagement to grow income both to address this need and, working for a small but ambitious charity, seek effective ways to raise brand awareness and promote Starlight through media partnerships and effective use of social media to reach target audiences.
Sitting on the Senior Management Team and wider Leadership Team, the role will provide strategic vision, direction and hands on support to a multi-disciplinary team of High Value and Public Fundraisers, Business Insight and Communications experts. The post-holder will also be responsible for strategically developing Starlight’s tone of voice and communication reach and acting as a public face for the charity, ready to represent and advocate for Starlight with all partners and in the media including radio and TV.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced fundraiser across Philanthropy, Individual Giving, Corporate Partnerships and charitable trusts, able to coach and inspire multi-disciplinary teams to deliver their best results. You will have a commercial mindset and a strong track record in a Senior Fundraising and Marketing role, successfully diversifying and growing income streams, with the ability to identify and capitalise on new funding opportunities. You will also be able to demonstrate results from leading strategic communication functions with an emphasis on consumer-led activity. Finally, you will have credibility and gravitas to build relationships and influence people at all levels, internally and externally.

The Managing Director, Finance & Operations is a key role on our Senior Leadership Team providing strategic oversight of all finances, HR and operations for our UK and US parent entities and overseas branches. Working closely with the CEO and with your leadership colleagues, as well as with our Board, you will provide sound information, advice and challenge on organisational strategies and plans to ensure we can deliver the greatest impact. This includes ensuring we have robust controls and due diligence processes in place to offer assurance to our funders and to confidently balance risk with the needs of our partners. Through leadership of the Head of Human Resources & Operations, you will also advise on global HR strategies so that we can attract and retain the best people and create a culture where our staff have a clear sense of belonging and feel truly valued for who they are. Additionally, you will also provide strategic oversight of our safeguarding, legal, governance and company secretarial matters.
We are looking for an outstanding, qualified accountant with exceptional strategic and technical finance skills, including knowledge of UK/US accounting principles, with experience of working within an international non-profit environment. You will be comfortable presenting complex financial information and advising a range of senior stakeholder groups both internally and externally, with the credibility to build trust and influence decision making. You will bring experience of leading on governance for an organisation and ideally have prior direct strategic knowledge of other functions such as HR and safeguarding. With an authentic and inspiring leadership style, you will also be able to attract, develop and motivate high performing and diverse teams, while empowering them to be the best that they can be. Above all else, you will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to our vision, mission, values and goals.
We particularly encourage candidates with lived experience of trafficking and/or forced labour. We also proactively welcome candidates from a global majority background, those who identify as disabled and people from low socioeconomic backgrounds as we know that these groups are underrepresented at a senior level across the sector.
