We are recruiting a Policy Officer to undertake an exciting new role within the Advocacy and Communications Team. You will report to the Director of Advocacy and Communications and work closely with all others in the team.
The purpose of this role is to strengthen LFF’s policy and advocacy efforts. You will be crucial in helping to develop strategic engagement, influence change and strengthen LFF’s impact on public policy, and in doing so, make a significant contribution to the prevention of child sexual abuse.
Bringing together your knowledge and experience engaging with various stakeholders, you will effect change by identifying opportunities to influence decision-making, analyse data to develop policy positions for the organisation, contribute to consultation submissions and provide advice on various policy matters.
Advocacy is one of our three strategic pillars within our current organisational strategy, together with reach and research. It sits within the wider Advocacy and Communications Team which supports the promotion of all areas of our work across various channels: websites, social media, press and PR, marketing and digital advertising. As we look forward to a new organisational strategy in 2025, we will be embedding advocacy across the organisation and will be striving to better showcase our advocacy work both internally and externally.

Power for Democracies is a new international pro-democracy research initiative with a mission to protect and strengthen liberal democracies around the world. Power for Democracies identifies these projects by systematically synthesising and analysing existing research and, where necessary, conducting and commissioning new research. The successful, targeted dissemination of our recommendations to the international donor community, their advisors and institutional grant-makers is critical to our mission. The attention that the assessed and recommended projects receive, and ultimately the funding that goes to these highly effective civil society initiatives, is key to achieving the positive change we aim for.
Your responsibilities as the Head of Communications:
- Help position Power for Democracies as the "go to" evidence-based research and evaluation entity in the pro-democracy field with relevant stakeholders, donor groups, networks, institutions, and civil society spaces.
- Recruit and build the small communications team in charge of Power for Democracies’ communication and distribution formats, channels, and tools.
- Develop Power for Democracies' outreach and dissemination strategies (in close collaboration with the Knowledge + Research team) to gain meaningful attention from experts, the pro-democracy space, and donors alike.
- Develop effective media and communication formats that best address the needs of our target groups (websites, white papers, podcast/videocast features, talks etc.).
- Oversee the successful translation and adaptation of our research outputs into concise, informative, and engaging content.
- In collaboration with our research experts, develop and plan our publication formats and oversee the Power for Democracies publishing calendar.
- Provide support and advice to management and research professionals on all aspects of communications and outreach.
As head of our small communications team, you are part of the management team and have a decisive role for Power for Democracies' success. Given the startup nature of the organization, additional tasks may arise ad hoc, such as contributions to networking and fundraising of the organisation. You report to the Executive Director.
What you bring:
- At least 6-10 years' practical experience in communications, media, publishing/editing or fundraising, including substantive experience in or for a research institution, think tank, science editorial team or equivalent.
- At least two years in a senior role and solid experience of working with teams of content producers and publishing content on time.
- A solid and nuanced understanding of the relevant spaces and stakeholders.
- Experience in developing media, communication and distribution strategies tailored to highly specific audiences to ensure we select and develop the most effective communication and distribution channels.
- Familiarity with the current cutting-edge digital formats and channels and an ability to implement them in a targeted and professional manner with your small team and our service providers.
- Strong listening and excellent writing skills, with a keen interest in translating complex issues into compelling yet precise language and visuals.
- A can-do, objectives-oriented mindset.
- A bachelor’s degree in relevant areas, such as public relations, journalism, media design, or communications.

PURPOSE OF THE POST
The Assistant Director for POPS core business is pivotal to ensuring the efficient, effective and legally compliant management of POPS’ head office functions and organisational infrastructure. We are seeking for somebody to join our team, who is highly motivated, knowledgeable, resilient and analytical, who will play a major role in taking the pressure of day-to-day management of core business functions away from the Director, thereby allowing them to pursue a vital strategic and leadership role necessary for the organisations’ future growth.
The post holder will be responsible for direct line management of POPS’ Finance Manager, HR Manager and Communications Officer, ensuring the respective departments provide effective contributions to support the operation of POPS as an organisation compliant with legislative and legal requirements.
In addition, the post holder will oversee POPS’ outsourced ICT function and manage all matters in relation to the physical maintenance of POPS’ head office building and the management of the tenanted space.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
GENERAL
- Work productively alongside POPS Assistant Director for Operations and Business Development to ensure the success and future growth of the organisation
- Develop national, regional and local alliances and partnerships to enable POPS to fulfil its Mission and strategic plans

Due to growth in our public policy research, we are recruiting to a new senior leadership role to support our Director of Public Policy and Research to co-lead our multi-million pound programme of research across employment policy collaboratively ensuring it is delivered effectively and to clients’ satisfaction. The postholder will be a credible and experienced researcher, motivated to support our team of policy researchers across the full breadth of our work and will play a critical leadership role in supporting and managing the policy research team. The postholder will also play a leadership role in developing the Institute more widely, leading strategic projects to build our capacity and capability, facilitating others to do likewise. They will be able to engage and motivate staff and capable of clear and transparent decision-making. Alongside, they will grow and develop their own programme of employment policy research.
In particular, the role involves:
Research development and thought leadership
■ Generating substantial, annual income for self and others;
■ Becoming a known thought leader for the IES portfolio, regularly disseminating and advising IES clients and policymakers, to increase IES’s profile;
■ Managing and directing significant projects consistently to an excellent standard, achieving client satisfaction and maintaining client relationships to build potential for further work;

Working at IES

Leadership
The Strategic Director (SD) will serve as a key leader within New Wine, collaborating closely with the Operations Director and reporting to the National Leader. In this role, the SD will co-lead New Wine’s strategic direction, designing and implementing leadership structures that empower the organisation to achieve its mission of equipping and supporting local churches.
As part of New Wine’s leadership restructuring, the SD will work to establish a sustainable framework that addresses existing challenges and supports long-term growth. Role Particulars:
Working Pattern: This is a full-time position, requiring two day per week in London, typically on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Due to the nature of this role, some travel and periods of working away from home will be necessary, as agreed in advance. The Strategic Director must be available for the annual leadership conference and the New Wine Festival, including the setup and teardown of these events.
Supervision: The post holder will receive regular supervision from their line manager to ensure ongoing support and development.
Role review: There is a three-month probationary period for this role. Following this, the post holder will undergo a quarterly rolling review of performance, the role, job description, terms, and package.

The WRC is one of the world’s leading corporate accountability organizations. Senior Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships
The Senior Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships will lead fundraising, outreach, and engagement for the WRC at the level of both strategy and implementation. The WRC’s current annual budget is US$3.3 million, and we seek to grow this in line with our program strategy to roughly $5–6 million over the next two to three years.
Areas of responsibility include:
- Designing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to progressively increase annual revenue, including identifying, building relationships with, and securing new funding from foundations, other institutional funders, and individuals, as well as pursuing opportunities to expand relationships with current funders;
- Creating and implementing a framework for strategic external partnership communications, including working with the WRC’s global field team to convey the real-world impact of the WRC’s work and overseeing relevant enhancements to the WRC’s website and other communications pathways;
- Leading on grant writing and framing of external communications;
- Supporting the Executive Director and other colleagues to engage with, and ensure coherent messaging to, donors and other partners—including ensuring that the WRC participates in relevant conferences, convenings, and other discussions related to our organizational mission and objectives;
- Supervising the work of a second development professional who has day-to-day responsibility for grant management, grant reporting, implementation of sub-grantee/grantor arrangements, management of the organization’s small individual donor program, and who also assists with preparation of grant proposals;
- Monitoring progress on grant-funded projects through regular communication with program staff;
- Participating in the development of overall organizational strategy and aligning fundraising strategies accordingly; and
- Contributing to financial reporting and oversight.
This is a full-time position, available immediately. The position is hybrid for a successful candidate who resides in the Washington, DC-area or remote in the case of a candidate who resides elsewhere.
The WRC will consider candidates located within six hours of the US Eastern time zone. For international candidates and US candidates based outside of Washington, DC, the position requires periodic travel to Washington, DC, and possibly other countries in which the WRC works. The Senior Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships will report to the WRC’s Executive Director.
Qualifications
Candidates must have:
- A minimum of seven years’ experience in fundraising for nonprofit organizations and/or seven years’ combined experience with fundraising and strategic communications;
- A substantial track record of successfully cultivating institutional donors and proven experience in establishing new fundraising partnerships;
- Significant experience in communications and storytelling, with an ability to distill complex analysis and program work into communications that inspire and motivate our audiences;
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to initiate, build, and maintain working relationships with existing and potential grantors and a global team across numerous time zones;
- Strong budget management skills and experience delivering against financial targets;
- Excellent organizational and project management skills and rigorous attention to detail;
- Energy, enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and a sense of humor; and
- A commitment to workers’ rights and corporate accountability.
The following are desirable but not required:
- Experience with labor rights work; and
- Experience working in an international context.
Compensation
Compensation for this position is $115,000–$135,000 per year, depending on relevant experience (adjusted to the local currency, where applicable). The WRC provides its US staff, who are covered by a union contract, with an excellent benefits package, including 100% employer-paid family health insurance, including dental and vision care, with an additional flexible spending plan with employer contribution; 401(k) retirement plan with employer contribution; and five weeks paid vacation.

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and skills:
- Proven experience in developing and executing communications strategies.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and empower your team.
- Solid understanding of the voluntary giving sector, ethical giving practices, and the Fundraising Code of Practice.
- Knowledge of key communication tools across mainstream media, digital, print, and events.
- An understanding of the UK legal system is beneficial but not essential.
- Passionate about access to justice and the charity’s mission.
