Economic Empowerment Evaluation Consultancy
Anticipated timeframe: December 2024 to end of August 2025Location: Remote with in-country work in Malawi, Nairobi, Kenya and/or Lagos, Nigeria
Sightsavers works with partners in over 30 countries across Africa and South Asia to eliminate avoidable blindness and support the empowerment of people with disabilities to learn, earn and participate equally in society.
Sightsavers’ Empowerment and Inclusion Strategic Framework explains our rights-based approach to social inclusion and our commitment to the progressive mainstreaming of disability throughout our programming. It underpins all our social inclusion work and complements our other global strategies on eye health, education, NTDs and research. The core objectives of the unrestricted portfolio include increasing access to economic empowerment pathways for people with disabilities, removing barriers in market systems, and leveraging initial seed funding to secure larger donor investments.
Purpose
The key purpose of this evaluation is to review and document the experience of implementation from the past two years to inform future strategic decision making. Sightsavers is seeking a Consultancy to conduct a comprehensive evaluation aimed at understanding the models and approaches that demonstrate effective pathways towards inclusive employment, contributing to the evidence and knowledge base of Sightsavers’ economic empowerment portfolio. The evaluation will place a particular emphasis on how the design and delivery of programmes might be enhanced for future programmatic work including a deep dive into two specific project approaches, IT academies and agriculture.
The Consultancy will be expected to evaluate the project level data and materials as well as primary data collected and consider if and how the projects have contributed towards the programme theory of change.
Scope of Work
The Consultancy will evaluate:
- If the purpose of the unrestricted portfolio has been achieved
- What models or approaches demonstrate improvement in economic inclusion of people with disabilities
- What partnership models are effective in providing leadership on inclusive employment
- What prevents or motivates the provision of a full range of products and services by financial institutions to people with disabilities. How we can use this knowledge to drive greater financial inclusion

Timeline
The consultancy is expected to be conducted between December 2024 to end of August 2025.
Sightsavers will welcome expressions of interest from qualified independent evaluators or consultancy companies. An individual or team with members located in the relevant countries (Malawi, Kenya, Nigeria) would be preferred. The Consultancy and team members should have the following core competencies and experience.
Consultancy’s expertise
- Depth of knowledge conducting evaluations of economic empowerment programmes
- Previous experience working in West and East African countries, particularly Malawi, Kenya and/or Nigeria
- A proven track record of working on disability inclusion
- Previous experience developing and evaluating Theories of Change
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Ability to conduct comprehensive desktop summaries and case studies
- First class production of high-quality evaluation reports
- Understanding of the labour markets, socio-economic and cultural contexts of the programme countries
- Understanding of issues related to people with disabilities
- Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and reporting
- Flexibility to conduct required data collection in Malawi, Kenya and/or Nigeria
A consultancy with a proven track record in the above will be procured to undertake the project through an expression of interest process.
The deadline for the Consultancy to submit their bid is Thursday 5 December 2024, 23.30pm GMT UK.
Interviews are intended to be conducted the week of the 9th December 2024 onwards. The interview process will be conducted virtually using Microsoft Teams, with an interview lasting up to 1 hour. A second interview may be conducted if required.

Payment Terms
Payment terms will be agreed between the Consultancy and Sightsavers. The fee detailed relates to staff costs, therefore please submit daily rates alongside an overall fee.

oriented professional to work in a dynamic environment. This position requires a hands-on approach, allowing the individual to execute various marketing strategies and initiatives effectively. The primary responsibility is to implement the marketing plan across multiple platforms, ensuring alignment with SEO London's mission, values and strategic objectives.
Accountabilities
Social Media Management
- Input into a review of SEO London’s social media plan and engagement tactics.
- Manage SEO London's social media accounts, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and TikTok.
- Oversee the social media request process, liaising with other teams to capture compelling content.
- Execute the social media plan by creating weekly posts, including content writing and visual asset design, and social media ads where relevant.
- Maintain the DEI calendar, ensuring timely updates and incorporation into the weekly plan.

Awards Management Unit (AMU)
The Pricing Advisor works within IRC’s Long Term Funding Team in the Business Development (BD) team of the Awards Management Unit. The BD Team leads IRC's public business development, working with country programs and technical units globally. The team raises funds to achieve IRC ambitious impact goals. Alongside a wide humanitarian funding portfolio, we prioritize growing ‘Long Term Funding’ through contracts and awards from priority donors, including USAID, FCDO, and other key multilateral and government donors.
Purpose of the Role
The Pricing Advisor serves as a budgeting expert and will be the pricing lead for many of IRC’s most important and large scale public funding opportunities.
The role provides essential guidance, technical assistance, quality assurance and hands-on support throughout the business development lifecycle, ensuring a delicate balance between cost recovery, risk mitigation, price competitiveness, and compliance with internal policies and donor regulations.
The Pricing Advisor specializes in working with IRC's ‘Long Term Funding Donors’ including USG, FCDO World Bank, GAVI and AFD. The Pricing Advisor may also be asked to work on opportunities for other donors in IRC’s portfolio, including European Union and other donors when required.
As a key member of proposal teams, this position collaborates closely with IRC Country Offices, Finance Department, and Technical Units to facilitate the development of cost proposals.

Role & Responsibilities
The Event Sales Manager is the main contact for all hires enquiries about our fantastic 7 studio spaces, 2 theatres and café Bar.
The Event Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales, managing client relationships, supervising the event planning process.
No one day is the same at Brixton House. The versatility of the building enable us to host a wide range of events such as Meetings, Screenings, Conferences, Music Gigs and Book Launches.
Sales
- Achieve monthly sales targets
- Secure returning hire bookings
- Create and implement sales strategies
- Look at upselling opportunities across the venue including food and beverage packages

IMPATIENCE INSIDERS PROJECT MANAGER
Role: Impatience Insiders Project Manager
Contract type: 12 months to start, full time (3-5 day contracts optional)
Salary: £36,000 pro rata, 3-5 days per week
Experience: Min 1+ year of professional experience
Location: UK based, remote working possible with some travel to London/nationally. Some co-working in Finsbury Park also an option.

CONTEXT AND ORGANISATIONAL VALUES
There are millions of highly educated, well-paid, politically engaged people who care deeply about the world. Every morning, they go to work in professional services firms, knowing that the firms they work for and the industries that they are a part of are blockers rather than enablers to a just transition.
They look for ways to ‘make a difference’ internally but fall at every hurdle. They think about quitting but feel financially tied to their jobs. They become accepting of the fact that things are how they are. They become disillusioned and start to feel helplessness and even shame. They offer little value to the just transition that the world needs and that they themselves yearn for.
Impatience Insiders’ job is to get these people organised, educated, and mobilised on terms that work for them, and turn shame and disillusion into action and progress. Our ambition is to fill a gaping hole in civil society organising infrastructure and create a permanent piece of the civil society landscape.
We are looking to build and invest in a series of insider movements in food retail, management consulting, advertising, public affairs and finance. By 2030 we aim to see the ‘insider movement’ model mainstreamed as a vehicle for private but collective activism for corporate insiders. Insider Movements will be thriving within scores of just transition-critical industries. The successes of early insider movements will be well known and held as examples of how insider power can help transform industries and drive a socially just and environmentally regenerative transition.
Your job will be to help seed and support these movements as well as helping build the broader insider ecosystem.
OVERVIEW

You will be the only staff member but have a lot of brilliant people around you to provide support and we hope that with your support and leadership, we will grow to a team of 3-4 over the coming 18 months.
We are looking for a self-starter who will flourish as a facilitator of insider groups, as a recruiter of Insiders, as an advocate and sector-builder for the insider community, and as someone who can put the building blocks in place for an organisation that is set to grow and flourish.
To begin with, you will be hosted at non-profit Impatience Ltd who are providing hosting support to Impatience Insiders.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
We are looking for someone with at least one year of professional experience who is:

Able to work delicately in high trust environments;

Energised to search and recruit for Insiders from a ‘cold’ start (e.g. building new relationships on Linkedin, etc.); and

Able to help build the ecosystem which we are a part of.
We are definitely looking for an all-rounder and do not have a particular experience set in mind. We expect to get applications from people from a range of backgrounds including those who have worked in research or programming roles at charities, those who have worked at large professional services firms, civil society building, community organising, entrepreneurship, consulting, food systems or public affairs.
We will be looking for people who have had to build things from scratch and are used to working with diverse stakeholder groups and holding a strong sense of purpose.

Support the Insiders group. Undertaking meeting prep, presenting documents and supporting recruitment and onboarding of insiders;

Help research and identify partners to turn insider insights into campaigns to influence change within the sector;

Help with the organising of the UK’s first ‘Insider Summit’ where we bring together people doing insider work across a range of industries and forms;

Input on the develop the methodology for insider group development;

Support fundraising efforts;

Help with the project-management of external agencies that are conducting delivery work for each project, from conception through to delivery and dissemination with civil society organisations, government, media and/or investors.
