The Woodland Trust is looking for a Risk and Audit Officer - Partnerships to help support internal audits and risk management across the organisation.

The Role: 
•    This role is key to helping us provide independent assurance to the Board and Executive Leadership Team on the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management across the organisation.
•    You will support the Head of Risk and Assurance alongside the Risk Analyst - Partnerships and Partnerships Risk Group with assessing the risk of potential and ongoing partnerships against our Ethical Policy.
•    You will be responsible for identifying improvement through internal audits whilst maintaining an issue/action tracker to report and review findings on a quarterly basis to the Board and Executive Leadership Team.
•    You will support in maintaining partnership relationships by assessing risks, maintaining audit trails and communicating all information to the wider team.
•    This role includes a mix of working from home and at our main office in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Visits to Grantham would be required on average once a month.

•  This role is a Fixed Term contract of 12 Months within the Finance team.

The Candidate: 
•    You have an enthusiasm for the environment and share our core values-Grow Together, Explore, Focus and Make it Count 
•    You will have experience and strong knowledge of working in an audit, assurance, risk management or finance function.
•    You will need to have strong knowledge of risks and controls including inherent risk and how this can be mitigated, preferably within the conservation or charity sector.
•    Strong communication skills, being able to work both independently and as a part of a team are crucial to the role.
•    You will have experience in using Microsoft Office, including Excel to produce and review spreadsheets to be used as data analytic tools.
•    You will have strong critical thinking skills, being able to problem solve quickly to reduce and mitigate risks.
•    You will understand internal audit methodology and techniques with the ability to document meeting notes and workpapers, including internal audits and other types of assurance review.
•    A qualification in Finance, Audit or Risk Management is preferred, but not essential.

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Senior Executive Assistant (virtual) to support our CEO and the broader leadership team including the Chair and Vice Chair of our Independent Advisory Group (IAG) and Board Chair. This remote EU-time zone role is central to optimising leadership effectiveness and the organisation’s operational efficiency. The role will blend high-level executive assistance with strategic support, project management, and stakeholder engagement to help drive Travalyst’s mission forward. This role offers a dynamic and diverse set of responsibilities, allowing you to both grow professionally as well as make a tangible impact on Travalyst's success and sustainability mission. 

Executive Assistance

• Provide comprehensive diary management for the CEO (and broader leadership team where required), including scheduling meetings, coordinating agendas, and organising travel arrangements.

• Act as a key point of contact among stakeholders, managing relationships and communications with tact and professionalism.

• Support the CEO in managing relationships with the Duke of Sussex’s office (Archewell) and other high-profile partners.

• Oversee logistical arrangements for events, meetings, and speaking engagements, ensuring seamless execution.

• In busy times, assist in triaging the CEO’s inbox, helping to draft responses, prioritise communications, and ensure timely follow-ups.

• Book Executive Leadership Team (ELT) business travel arrangements, including flights, transportation, accommodation and planning for dietary needs to be met.

• Liaise with other staff and board members on behalf of the CEO / leadership team, when appropriate.

• Assist in accurately and succinctly minuting meetings on behalf of the CEO where required. 

• Conduct research where required on sustainability and travel-related topics, synthesising insights to inform decision-making and communications.

• Prepare briefing documents, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

• Comprehensive use of G-Suite, Mailchimp, Miro, Slack and Salesforce.  Use of project management software such as Notion also an advantage.

IAG Support

• Prepare, support and debrief IAG meetings and any IAG sub-task groups, and manage records and distribution of key advice and decisions.

• Follow up with internal teams on the impact of advice given.

• Manage scheduling, support with invoicing, etc.

• Monitor IAG governance processes and performance, and make recommendations for improving processes.

• Run the project management side of the IAG (e.g. Notion, weekly goals spreadsheet).

Event Management

• Alongside other assisting team members, play a central role in external event management and coordination e.g. of Global Convening. Coordinating logistics inclusive of travel and accommodation, as well as overseeing communications, agenda, activities and all food and beverage.

• Logistical coordination for speaking engagements at events, such as GBTA/COP etc, and co-ordinating meetings/dinners and/or coalition workshops, where possible.

• Plan, organise, and execute sustainable virtual and hybrid events such as webinars, workshops, team socials, regular secretariat meetings, conferences including Secretariat off-site events.

The Role

We are looking for an exceptional, passionate and highly experienced Ecological professional to join our Nature Reserves Team as Senior Ecologist. Our nature reserves are at the heart of Sussex Wildlife Trust and represent some of the most special places for wildlife in Sussex. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to undertake an important and influential position within the hard-working Nature Reserves Team and help coordinate our strategic approach to ecological monitoring and nature recovery across our 30+ nature reserves. This senior role will work alongside our Head of Nature Reserves, Conservation Grazing Manager and the wider Reserves Team to help oversee ecological evidence and monitoring across sites from Rye Harbour to Iping Common. You will prioritise, implement and articulate our Ecological Monitoring Strategy, ensuing effective evidenced based advice and decision making is embedded into the management of our nature reserve portfolio. You will coordinate ecological surveys, prioritising financial resource and engaging consultants and the volunteer recording community across Sussex. You will use this data to produce high quality and informative conservation advice and reports for Site Managers and Rangers to use in management decisions. You will also get involved in designing ambitious restoration projects alongside Site Managers and Project Officers ensuring both that projects are compliant with environmental regulations but also achieve nature’s recovery on our reserves.

The Person

You will be an experienced ecological professional with a passion for Sussex wildlife and extensive ecological specialism at a species level but also have a good understanding of nature reserve management. You will be able to confidently and clearly communicate and influence decision making within the Nature Reserves Team, building a scientific evidence-based approach through the development of the Ecological Monitoring Strategy, to help ensure our nature reserves continue to flourish. You will be able to manage and coordinate complex ecological data and undertake effective reporting. This role will work across 35 hours predominantly Monday to Friday with some early morning, evening and weekend work on seasonal occasions. This role will be both office and site based, and you will be out and about undertaking multiple site visits throughout the year.

Public Interest Litigation Support (PILS) is a Belfast-based non-profit committed to supporting local organisations to use the law in a creative way to protect human rights and equality.

We are looking for a dedicated Advocacy Campaigns Manager to join our Advocacy team within Action Against Hunger UK's Operations department.  This is a great time to join our team as we broaden the reach of our public advocacy campaigns to a wider audience. The Green Doctor Trainee will work alongside our experienced Green Doctors to help residents use energy efficiently, reduce bills, and to stay warm and well in their homes. The role will include supporting customers by telephone, travelling in the local area to deliver home energy visits, fitting small energy-saving measures (sometimes involving working at height), and taking part in promotional activities to spread the word about our service. You will learn how to use equipment and tools, gather and record data accurately, and ultimately provide high-quality advice to help people who are most in need.

We are seeking an individual who is motivated to develop a career in the energy advice sector, and who is committed to supporting vulnerable people to act more sustainably, to stay warm and well in their homes, and to reduce their household bills.

The ideal candidate would be approachable, professional and motivated to learn. We’ll help you to gain the technical qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience needed, provided you commit to a structured programme of learning alongside other Trainees. This placement is part of a national Green Doctor Trainee scheme funded by the Cadent Foundation. Trainees will take part in the Green Doctor Academy: a program of training, learning and support. This will include a period of training, support, and observing colleagues before you take responsibility for your own Green Doctor caseload.

The Green Doctor Academy, provided by Groundwork Manchester, will include a 2-day induction for trainees to understand the role and explore key issues of fuel poverty, energy-saving awareness, climate education and property retrofit.

This is followed by a mixture of face-to-face and online training and opportunities to gain qualifications such as:

• Level 3 City and Guilds Energy Awareness

• Carbon Literacy Certificate

• Qualifications Network UK (QNUK) Level 2 Health and Safety at Work

• QNUK Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual handling at Work

• QNUK Level 2 Safe Use of Ladders and Stepladders (3 Guided Learning Hours)

• Asbestos Awareness (online module) – Asbestos Awareness – UK Asbestos Training Association

• Safeguarding and working with vulnerable residents

To give you an idea of the kind of learning involved in the Green Doctor Academy, Level 2 qualifications equate to a GCSE standard pass (Intermediate GNVQ or BTEC first certificate) and will help you build knowledge in the area. Level 3 covers more complex work and will help you develop your supervisory skills – this equates to BTEC National Certificate or Vocational A-Level / A-level.

In addition, Groundwork South will provide a full induction to our organisation and how Green Doctor works across our region. Training and support for trainees will include:

• Line manager support to map and review the goals of your placement.

• Informal buddy system during on boarding

Introduction 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident and highly organised individual to take on the role of Food and Beverage Manager at our Sherwood Forest nature reserve.

The café is located in our award winning visitor centre, situated is an ancient landscape alive with nature, history and folklore. Today it is a magical destination visited by people from across the globe, home to the enduring legend of Robin Hood and the famous Major Oak, estimated to be more than 1,000 years old.

We care for over 450 hectares of ancient wood pasture and rolling heathland which is home to thousands of species of bird, insect, mammal, fungi, tree and plant. Wooded for centuries and once part of a vast royal hunting ground, for the 350,000 people who come to visit each year it is an incredible place to visit!

What's the role about? 

Supporting the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager in the delivery of an exemplar customer experience, maximising income streams and effectively managing costs to deliver optimal net contribution, whilst ensuring a high level of legislative compliance.

Working at Sherwood Forest Reserve, you'll compliment the unique and fascinating visitor experience offer inspiring our visitors to support nature conservation now and in the future. Working with the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager, and a team of Centre Assistants, you'll be responsible for delivering the café's menu offer and driving income, ensuring consistent high customer service and delivery. Excellent staff management and organisational skills will be required to manage the weekly rota effectively and a keen eye for managing budgets and costs are essential to manage costs and margins to maintain profit.

Working as part of the catering team, we need someone who is enthusiastic and hard working and is determined to make a success of the catering operation.

The Food and Beverage Manager will:

• Complete back of house and front of house operation alongside the team

• Support delivery of exceptional customer care.

• Proactively support the delivery of net contribution targets through effective budgetary management and resource planning.

• Proactively support the effective delivery of defined standard operating procedures.

• To proactively support the effective delivery of all administrative tasks within defined timeframes.

• Responsible for effective management of food safety and health and safety, adhering to RSPB procedures.

• Proactively support in the management and leadership of team members.

• Deputise in the absence of the Food and Beverage Manager.

• Ensure the café is commercially merchandised according to the agreed layout and stock levels are appropriate.

• Ensure all catering administration, operating processes, security, food hygiene and health and safety adhere to RSPB procedures.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience: 

• GCSE Maths and English or equivalent

• Level 2 Food Hygiene

• An understanding of budgets and delivery of KPI’s

• A working knowledge of MS applications, including Excel and Word

• Knowledge of food safety management systems and health and safety legislation

• Strong visual merchandising, display and presentation skills

• Strong resource planning with effective allocation of teams and product

• The ability to plan and prioritise tasks

• A strong leader, who motivates and nurtures their teams

• Effective in responding to customer and colleagues needs and feedback

• Supporting and developing a highly performing diverse team

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

• Level 3 Food Hygiene

• Experience of working at a visitor attraction

• Multi-site catering experience

People & Recruitment Advisor

As People & Recruitment Advisor, working to the People and Culture Lead, you will be responsible for administering the day-to-day HR/People activities, including being the first point of contact for queries and advice. You will also lead on recruitment across the organisation, providing expert guidance to hiring managers and managing the recruitment process at each stage.

You will have the ability to quickly build strong relationships with colleagues at all levels. Your warmth and confidence will make people feel comfortable and welcome so they feel able to come to you with people-related questions.

As part of the People and Culture team, you will work to ensure that we can recruit, retain, develop, support and deeply engage the people we rely on to deliver our vital work for forests, nature and human rights. • Building relationships with all managers and stakeholders across the organisation
