Overall purpose

Your primary responsibility will be to lead Breaking Barriers’ employment programme in Birmingham and the West Midlands, and support the Senior Employment Services Manager and Director of Services in ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency in the support we provide to clients.  

Working closely with the Senior Employment Services Manager, you will take ownership of delivery within this region and lead on the delivery of the contract, including maintaining effective external stakeholder relationships and providing accurate and timely reporting. You will line manage and support a team of Employment Advisers (“Advisers”), enabling them to provide high-quality support to clients and coordinate the day-to-day operational activity which keeps our programmes running.

You are a highly organised and effective worker who knows when to adopt a creative approach and when to follow the established process. You will have an empathetic manner, be willing to go the extra mile to support clients and be proactive in looking for ways to improve our service. Lived experience would be helpful but is not essential.  

In addition to exceptional people skills, you will be a strong communicator and possess meticulous attention to detail. You will be confident working autonomously, helped by excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise and cope with interruptions.

You should have at a demonstrable track record of transferrable work experience in coordinating service delivery, projects or programmes, or another relevant field. Equally important is a demonstrable commitment to working with marginalised populations who face barriers to employment, particularly refugees. A strong interest in employability support and experience delivering employment programmes or careers advice would be a strong advantage.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

As a Social Welfare & Digital Support Adviser, you will play a key role in providing comprehensive advice, casework support, and digital support to the residents of Tower Hamlets. As a dedicated and empathetic Social Welfare Advice & Digital Support Adviser, your role will be essential in empowering individuals with complex and multiple needs, helping them navigate the intricacies of the welfare benefits system and access the financial support they deserve. Additionally, you will provide vital digital support to enable clients to manage their welfare claims online, enhancing their digital confidence and independence. Through a holistic approach that incorporates social, cultural, financial, and digital issues, you will address the diverse needs of our clients, ensuring they receive well-rounded support and are equipped to navigate the online systems essential to managing their welfare benefits.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Holistic Client Assessment and Support - Conduct detailed, confidential interviews with clients, applying a holistic approach to assess their needs for advice and support, including digital needs.
• Comprehensive Needs Assessment - Assess various aspects such as financial situation, social welfare entitlements, debt, digital literacy, and other significant issues affecting clients and their families.
• Digital Support - Provide guidance to clients in accessing and managing welfare benefit claims online. This includes assisting clients with online Universal Credit applications, managing online accounts, and building their digital skills for greater self-sufficiency.
• Advice and Casework - Provide high-quality advice and casework support on all social welfare benefits such as Universal Credit (UC), Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Attendance Allowance (AA), Council Tax Reduction (CTR), Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP), Carer's Allowance (CA), Housing Benefits (HB), legacy benefits and travel-related services such as blue badge/freedom passes, unemployment benefits, and other welfare benefits. This includes offering digital assistance where needed.
• Application Assistance - Assist clients in completing application forms, mandatory reconsideration, appeals, and other paperwork related to social welfare benefits, money and debt, funding, and grants, both in person and online.
• Tailored Client Support - Ensure that services are adapted to the needs of each client, considering communication, digital abilities, understanding, and vulnerabilities, while supporting their navigation through online platforms.
• Financial Advice & Support - Provide advice on income maximisation, debt management, budgeting, savings, and accessing financial support, empowering clients to achieve financial independence, including offering digital tools to help manage finances.
• Client Involvement - Through clear communication and consultation, ensure clients are involved in resolving their social welfare issues, including welfare benefits, debt, and money management, and are kept informed on the progress of their case, particularly regarding digital aspects.
• Digital Training and Confidence Building - Assist clients in developing digital skills to independently manage online claim forms, journals, and accounts, ensuring they are well-equipped to navigate online welfare systems.

• Digital support and Case Management - Use the Lamplight database system to organise and manage client support, including digital support case recording and compliance with LHP’s case management procedures.
• Monitoring and Evaluation - Contribute to project monitoring and evaluation by providing data on digital support & financial outcomes and also producing evaluative reports for the Advice Services Manager, focusing on digital engagement and success.
• File and Data Management - Maintain accurate digital records of client interactions and stay updated on social welfare policies, regulations, and digital support systems.
• Community Engagement and Partnerships - Liaise with local authorities, health services, and community organisations to support clients, including digital outreach and awareness-raising activities.
• To liaise with other agencies and develop strong working relationships to support clients effectively, including partnerships with GP surgeries.

· Deliver advice sessions at the LHP office, GP surgeries, and other outreach venues, raising awareness of available support services.

· Participate in borough-wide forums and activities to develop relationships with other organisations and enhance community awareness.

• Client Relations and Safeguarding - Build trustful relationships with clients, ensuring safeguarding and digital support considerations are fully met.
• Professional Conduct and Team Participation - Maintain confidentiality, adhere to equal opportunities, and observe LHP policies, including digital inclusion strategies, while participating in team meetings to share knowledge and best practices.
• Health and Safety - Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, particularly around digital workspaces and client interactions. 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. To support the Limehouse Project’s overall goals and vision.

2. Carry out day-to-day general administrative duties that are vital to the smooth running of the services and specific project-related work such as responding to letters, doing follow-up work, etc, and its online appointment sheets for LHP and external partners.

3. Attend Limehouse Project staff meetings regularly.

4. Carry out such other duties, as the LHP manager and management committee shall from time to time require.

5. Keep up-to-date by undertaking further study or training, as may be necessary or which may be required by LHP and which contributes to the provision of an effective service.

Your Role: Membership, Programmes and Events Support Assistant (Fixed Term Contract)

Contract: Fixed Term for six months - November 2024 to April 2025. We are open to applications from a PhD student or Early Career Academic.

Hours: 21 (0.6FTE). The post holder will also be expected to attend and support the PSA25 Annual Conference taking place in Birmingham from 14 -16 April 2025. 

Salary:  0.6 FTE of £25k. The post holder will additionally be compensated for in-person attendance and providing support during the Annual Conference period.

Location: All roles are based at our offices in Camden London but the PSA currently supports its staff to work remotely. Post-holders will be required, however, to come into our offices regularly (normally once a week on a Wednesday). The Membership, Programmes and Events team is a friendly bunch who work closely together with responsibility for operations and output across a wide range of our activities. These include: membership, networks, specialist groups, programmes, communications, events including the Annual Lecture and PSA Annual Conference. We are looking for someone to join the team in the six-month run up to, and including attendance at, the PSA25 Annual Conference which is our major event of the year.

· Responding to standard/general conference email enquiries

· Monitoring Ex Ordo data - for example, identifying whether someone is a paper-giver or not and emailing participants for clarification where necessary

· Organising catering requirements to cover the conference schedule

· Sourcing venues and menu choices for the Conference Dinner and Conference Drinks events

· Collating Academic Prizes nominations made via JotForm for trustees and prize judges

Additional information: there are currently seven members of PSA staff under the leadership of the CEO. This post reports to the Membership, Events & Programmes Manager who works with two Officers in the team.

We are looking for a Management Accountant to join the National Theatre Finance Team on a 6 month contract.

Purpose of the role:

The purpose of this role is to provide management accounting support for the National Theatre and to assist the Management Accountant in providing quality financial reporting to Producing and Production stakeholders. The post-holder will work closely with finance colleagues and key stakeholders providing timely and accurate information.

The successful candidate will have the following: 

• The post holder must be part-qualified in a professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or be qualified by experience.

Job Description 

The Finance Manager is responsible for the management and technical support of the Finance function and acts as advisor to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and assists in the development of the organisation’s financial strategy, modelling new projects, preparing budgets and reporting on financial performance. 

You will also be responsible for maintaining accounts on Xero and all related bookkeeping tasks.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Responsibility for bookkeeping on the organisation’s accounting system (Xero);

• Preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts for the organisation and individual cost centres, including variance analysis and reports for the Board. This information should include a short narrative on the current position, future prospects, and financial risks and opportunities. The reports will be tailored as necessary for the Board and management; 

• Provide robust financial information including accurate balance sheets and a rolling cash flow forecast; 

• Act as key point of contact for project budget holders on financial matters;

• Carry out regular reviews of spending under various grants, alerting budget holders and CEO to any actual or potential over or underspend;

• Work with CEO and managers on fundraising bids and financial reports for funders;

• Produce statutory accounts, files and schedules, in partnership with the3million’s accounting firm; 

• Monitor records of all funding and funding sources and the appropriate allocation of incoming funding;

• Monitor monthly accrual of income and expenditure, deferral of income, maintenance of reconciliation to Xero, balance sheet changes and undertake bank reconciliations;

• Monitor the accounts mailbox and ensure invoices are included in the accounting system, answering internal and external queries as they arise;

• Act as main point of contact with banks, service providers, suppliers (when appropriate) and auditors;

• Other duties as requested by the CEO.

Person Specification

The post requires the holder to:

• Have an appropriate accounting qualification – in full or part (AAT, ICAEW, CIMA or ACCA);

• Have a minimum of three years of professional experience, including experience of operating within a not-for-profit organisation (managing accounts for restricted and unrestricted funds);

• Be proficient in Xero Online accounting software and Excel spreadsheets, including experience in using Power Query;

• Be comfortable with the financial systems typical of a small organisation, including financial monitoring and reporting to a range of different funding sources;

• Have some experience of projects finances and understand the financial implications behind an efficient delivery strategy;

• Be honest and reliable;

• Ability to work on own initiative when appropriate and seek guidance when necessary;

We’re looking for a mid-weight Graphic Designer to work in-house to create artwork for marketing and communications campaigns across a wide range of media, including print, digital, animation, and video. The focus of the role will include maximising the impact of SCUK's relationships with the UK Government including Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), ensure effective knowledge management and capacity building for the UK Government account internally – including for UK Government funded programmes, pipeline and influencing work.

You will support and liaise with a network of internal and external stakeholders to optimise our UK Government engagement, in pursuit of specific partnership opportunities. As well as contribute to the development of the wider partnership strategy, lead and contribute to cross team projects.

 In this role, you will: 

• Ensure a broad-ranging and inclusive partnership. This includes:
  • Contributing to the implementation of SCUK's overall institutional partnerships strategy.
  • Management of information and status of relationships/financing to keep our leadership (CEO, Executive Directors) up-to-date with our partnerships.
  • Supporting the organisation to continually build strategic understanding of the UK Government and any evolving trends that may impact the relationship.
  • Representing Save the Children with the appropriate partner contacts and providing strong support to colleagues in their external engagement (country, regional and HQ levels).
  • Exploring new avenues of collaboration and new funding modalities to maximise income and return on investment.
  • Secure support from colleagues from across the organisation to contribute to our engagement with the UK government
• Ensure increased quality and consistency in the design, delivery and reporting of all projects/awards. This includes:
  • Development and delivery of donor specific capacity building plans.
  • Working closely with the Donor Compliance team to identify risks, mitigating measures and setting adequate monitoring mechanisms to support wider award management processes.
  • Developing common standard approaches to quality and compliance across the account. Ensuring partner regulations and expectations are well understood among parties involved.
  • Engaging with wider Save the Children in generating and sharing learning and best practices.
  • Ensuring strong knowledge management systems are in place.
• Collaborating with team members to develop and embed our partnership and management approach, to maximise the benefit of the team's work to the wider organisation and movement.

 About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Skills in partnership management and market assessment in relation to overall positioning with partners.
• Experience, interest and knowledge of current thinking and future trends and thorough understanding of international development issues.
• Proven experience of providing creative and innovative approaches in developing new initiatives that contribute towards partnership objectives.
• Experience in relationship management, working with Governments, donors, trusts and foundations, or equally demanding partners.
• Experience of undertaking industry trend and donor specific research, finding relevant, reliable, and up to date information quickly.
• Ideally knowledge of and experience working directly with Governments and other key factors such as multi-lateral institutions e.g. their structures, operations and priorities (geographic, sectorial, thematic, at policy & advocacy levels).
• Ideally a good understanding of project design, quality programming and effective delivery.
• Self-driven: ability to take a pro-active approach and work on own initiative; problem-solving skills and creative thinking in fluid or less structured environments.
• Excellent coordination and relationship building skills in forming and maintaining both internal and external relationships.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to present complex information in a clear and succinct manner, ability to analyse trends and report on key financial metrics.

Ways of Working:

We are excited to be recruiting a Philanthropy Manager to join our Fundraising Team. This is a new role which will be instrumental in setting us up well to grow income from major donors over the coming years. We are looking for an experienced major donor fundraiser, who can bring their skills and expertise to take this strand of fundraising to the next level. The Philanthropy Manager will build relationships and secure funding from high-net-worth individuals, working closely with the Director of Philanthropy, CEO, and a newly established fundraising committee to develop this area of fundraising. This will involve developing new events and stewardship opportunities to create engaging experiences for prospective and existing supporters. The post will report into the Director of Philanthropy.

About the Role
